　　kind   of   thinking   about   how   awfully   fast   charlie's   brain   runs.   it   charges   at   five   hundred   miles   per   hour   all   day,   each   day.   and   she,   bless   her   heart,   is   quite   incapable   of   slowing   it   down,   nor   can   anyone   really   stop   her.   i   mean,   she   can't,   right?   one   wouldn't   have   the   time,   not   when   you   have   the   entirety   of   hell   to   worry   over.   and,   god,   does   she   worry,   gives   her   bleeding   heart   to   the   ones   she   must   save   at   all   costs.   that's   the   thing   about   her,   though:   she's   got   this   desperate,   innate   need   to   repair   everyone,   everything,   around   her,   this   incessant   need   for   things   to   be      perfectperfectperfect   —   out   of   compassion.   out   of   concern.   the   terrifying   notion   that   it   may   very   well   be   someone   she   knows   next   time.   hmmm.   maybe,   because,   on   most   days,   it   feels   a   little   like   hellfire   has   consumed   her,   razed   her   from   the   inside   out.   maybe   because   she's   been   hollowed   out.   has   been   for   the   longest   time.   if   she   could   pick   up   the   pieces   for   others,   she   wouldn't   have   to   face   her   own   demons.   maybe,   it   could   fix   her,   too.

　　and   on   days   where   the   air   is   too   thick,   when   her   hands   start   to   shake   and   she's   on   the   very   brink,   i   think   one   of   her   favorite   me   time   things   to   do   is   press   flowers.   roses,   to   be   exact.   she   loves   those.   apple   blossoms.   she'll   open   her   heavy   curtains,   take   perch   at   her   desk,   and   press   them   into   her   favorite   books.   her   voice   sings   over   the   quiet   air,   sometimes   accompanied   by   the   radio   that   sounds   from   her   bedside   -   some   jazzy   tune   she'd   heard   many   times   before.   the   world   stops.   she   takes   her   time   for   a   little   while.

it   doesn't   always   help,   but   it   gives   her   anxious   hands   something   to   do.
