after seeing some of your Ogata meta, I wanted to share an idea I had.
it starts with Yuusaku, and Ogata's paradoxical hatred/envy of him. in my mind, Ogata hates Yuusaku because he represents a privileged existence. one that their father granted to Yuusaku, while neglecting Ogata. they're like light and shadow. Yuusaku's purity has and will always frame him as an exception to the compromises that other people have to make... and it's not just in relation to Ogata. normal men compromise their morals during war, but Yuusaku is treated as though he's above everyone.
Ogata's position is that this isn't fair. but then, what should be the method of leveling the playing field? Yuusaku would rather bring Ogata into the light, and Ogata would rather drag Yuusaku into the dark. these are their attempts to become relatable to each other, but they'd have to fundamentally alter each other if they were ever going to see eye to eye.
when Ogata asks "was a blessed life ever possible for me?" he does tip his hand a bit. it sounds like he actually wants to have those blessings. meanwhile, Yuusaku was never enticed by the darkness. Ogata failed to prove that his way of thinking is inherently tempting... and when Ogata shoots Yuusaku, that 100% cements his ideological loss. Yuusaku's death ended his potential to change, and immortalized his purity forever. and Yuusaku left Ogata with a curse of his own: "nobody should be able to kill without feeling guilt."
Yuusaku died, and made it so. and with this background knowledge, here is what I'm really getting at.
at the end of their journey together, we see Ogata draw a clear parallel between Asirpa and Yuusaku. both are people who have an empathetic, sentimental urge to care about the lives of others... and they expect to try and maintain that moral framework, even in the midst of a conflict that seems to necessitate violence and death. in some ways, their dedication to these morals can come off as judgmental towards people who have ended up dirtying their hands already. early in their relationship, Asirpa and Sugimoto grappled with that.
I believe that, if Asirpa and Yuusaku are comparable, then Sugimoto and Ogata are contrastable in the same role... they've responded in opposite ways to the same offer. both consider themselves to be cursed, and they think of killing as sometimes necessary, but Sugimoto feels guilt fully and readily. and when Asirpa reaches out to him, Sugimoto is more readily willing to change.
once you start thinking of the two as foils, there's no going back. Asirpa reminds Sugimoto of how he lived before the war, and Sugimoto devotes himself to Asirpa... Yuusaku reminds Ogata of how he lived before the war, and Ogata kills Yuusaku. one accepts the aid of someone who can help him heal, while the other rejects it.
this all culminates in Ogata murdering Wilk, and shooting Sugimoto. at that point, Sugimoto is basically what Ogata could've been if he'd embraced the connection that was offered to him. and I think it's symbolically meaningful that Ogata tries to kill this symbolic healthier version of himself. with this one decision, he ensures that Asirpa will never be able to think well of him... not if she ever learns the whole truth. whether Ogata knows it or not, he's essentially been watching as, once again, another person lives a more blessed and prosperous existence that he cannot partake in. he's always on the outside looking in, and when he shoots Sugimoto, he closes off one more important avenue.
I absolutely love the scene where Asirpa shoots Ogata in the eye. first of all, Asirpa and Sugimoto are beginning to swap their views on killing. Asirpa's morals have been tested, and she's starting to come to Sugimoto's early conclusion that killing isn't something she wants to do, but sometimes it can't be avoided if you want to survive. meanwhile, Sugimoto has picked up Asirpa's philosophy of being as non-lethal as possible. war isn't the proper tool for preserving a culture... Sugimoto already knows it isn't the proper tool for preserving a person. he went to war, and it nearly destroyed him. but now, everything he values about himself exists because, from the beginning, Asirpa had the correct tools to let him rebuild himself.
and so, when the arrow hits Ogata in the eye, Sugimoto saves Ogata's life, regardless of his rage. Ogata failed to kill Sugimoto, and Asirpa succeeded in healing him. as a result, when Asirpa is in danger of being pulled into the dark, she has someone there to help her.
and Ogata has still failed to corrupt anyone. he can't figure out how to bring someone down to his level so that he can relate to them. he's still alone. he never quite figures out what's good for him until after he's already ruined it.

My god, the thematic light and dark analogy is so on point. I agree: Yuusaku is the embodiment of light whilst his older half-brother is the dark entity. I always found it interesting that Yuusaku was pushed to a position of veneration (chapter 165, page 12). By keeping himself pure, he will be an "icon" for other men to look at and relieve themselves from the guilt of killing another person. What's interesting about it is that he's following the interpretation of their father about the superstition surrounding the flagbearer role. I argue that Yuusaku, to some degree, is forced to be light. He was forced to play a role that dictated that his life should radiate purity. His position as flagbearer and the mysticism behind the role wasn't his idea (and to some extent, wasn't his choice - he just followed what his father wanted); but because he's a willing participant of this superstitious belief, he, therefore, transforms himself from mere man to a purity akin to divinity.
Because he's so pure, to the point of veneration, I feel like that was part and parcel of why Ogata killed him: to prove to himself that even the gods and their blessed children bleed and die at the hands of men like him.

YES YES YES!!!! Exactly! I love your idea of them trying to bring the other to their "ideological side" as a form of relating to one another. I feel like Yuusaku wanted to "save" his brother from the darkness that he feels had enshrouded him his entire life. Ogata, on the other hand, wanted to prove that a person who was beloved by his parents and who had it all can still be someone like him: "normal". This comes from the idea that Ogata thought that it was normal for everyone not to feel guilt when killing people (chapter 165, page 13); who knows what else he thought was normal?
I think there's a part of Ogata that really wanted to be a blessed child, underneath all his layers. There's a Tumblr post that tries to pull out the intricacies and nuances in Ogata's confrontation with Hanazawa Senior in chapter 103. I think it really showed Ogata's vulnerability, the inner child in him that continued to be ignored and hurt.
I think Ogata's hand in Yuusaku's death does immortalize his purity forever! Because Ogata finally gave up on their game: Yuusaku won their ideological battle by offering Ogata true love and acceptance (it's completely familial please) - something he's never received from anyone in the past. Though, I don't fully agree with how Yuusaku's death ended Ogata's potential to change: rather, for me, it symbolizes that Ogata's life ideology is flawed, and he ran away from it rather than confronting it. I argue that his potential to change died in your later observation of him shooting Sugimoto and/or when he pointed a gun at Asirpa and got shot in the eye by accident.
I love your idea of Ogata having his own curse as a result of Yuusaku's death: "nobody should be able to kill without feeling guilt". Because that's the backbone of his relationship with Asirpa, the one who reminds him of Yuusaku and someone who also tried to love him.

[With so many emotions] fuck. šŸ„¹šŸ„¹ I love your assessment of both Asirpa and Yuusaku being so firm in their own beliefs that they can come off as judgemental or even condescending to those that fail to meet their standards. Well in the case of Asirpa, she eventually learns that the world isn't as white and black as she used to think, so she too grows in her own ideological perspective.
Sugimoto and Ogata are foils, you're so right, and you pointed out the main reason why I strongly believe that. It boils down to their respective relationships with Asirpa, who is characterized as a "chosen one" in the sense that she's a) given a huge moral task of protecting the Ainu (and later on even the other ethnic minorities in Karafuto and Russia), and b) she's - for the most part of the story - depicted as someone who's is pure (and is firm in staying pure) in a world of bloodshed and greed.
I like your idea on how Sugimoto and Ogata had their respective person who represented light in their lives. And you're right: they differ in their response to being "saved". I wholeheartedly agree with how Asirpa reminds Sugimoto about his past (unmarred) life. But for me, I think rather than being reminded of his past, unmarred life, Yuusaku represents a "what if" in Ogata. He represents a blessed life that Ogata himself could have lived; to go even further, even perhaps the lost life he could've had, should Yuusaku hadn't been born.
I think that Ogata truly did close himself to the possibility of a blessed life. Hence, I love the metaphor of him having his own path in the snow versus the lynx (meko oyasi) and the rest of the group in chapter 169. Like a lynx that lives a solitary life, he was forced to live life alone because of the childhood neglect he experienced (I talked about that in my first meta for Ogata and Love). But because he killed Yuusaku and therefore gained his "curse", he further alienates himself from others, trapping himself in his own twisted worldview by clinging onto it. He forced himself to be isolated - hence he's walking on his own path, which hints on his independence as a character on the surface but shows his loneliness on a deeper level.

I love this so much that I'm just nodding my head to everything you said. Hey, you dropped this crown, your majesty šŸ‘‘ I love how you looked into how Sugimoto and Asirpa grew throughout the series, especially in the Karafuto Arc for the latter. And how despite Asirpa dipping her toes into the moral dark, she has an anchor in Sugimoto. She's not like pure Yuusaku, but she's not also as dark as Ogata: she now exists in a lighter moral grey.

Because you're right: Ogata damns himself in pits of the darkness of his own volition. He curses himself never to escape its traps by killing (or attempting to kill) those that try to pierce through his gloomy veil.

also, I actually totally agree with your take! usually I'd imagine Ogata having that easy confidence you described, but I guess that's more like when he's got the upper hand and he knows it. I think I lapsed into writing him a bit more annoyed because he seems like he'd get competitive in response to a partner that won't let him have his way, and that's when he gets a little more serious. plus, even if he is deadpan, the "are we really that familiar?" bit is a cheeky way of hinting that he wants to use formal titles for sexy reasons... it's like a naturalistic way to introduce the power dynamic he wants, but then even that doesn't go quite the way he planned.šŸ¤­

I completely agree with you! I also believe that he's so confident and playful in bed because, in Ogata's head, he already has the upper hand. And I can totally see him becoming easily annoyed when his partner is fighting against his hold. With "wrong" sexual partners (meaning they either baby him or try to take advantage of him), I can see him losing interest immediately when he starts seeing them as "being difficult", especially when he's already being more serious. Of course, the line between his playfulness and seriousness is very very subtle and thin, so good luck to those who want to read him.
Ogata has certain things that he likes being followed: to go against that means risking him slipping from your fingers.
Hehe, I like the cheekiness! Ogata still trying to maintain dominance in a playful way. I think playing into his power play kink and calling him "sir" or "daddy" really gets him going; no wonder he quickly establishes that at the beginning of sex HAHA!

that Ogata ask inspired this little snippet:
scene: Ogata has [name] on their back, prepped and ready. normally this would be unremarkable, but this whole time... they've been a bit too cocky. it bothers him. he has them pinned down, his hand resting firmly at the base of their neck while he looms over them. his hold isn't in the right place, or given enough pressure to call it choking, but there's a hint of a threat in this position.
[name]: "Ogata..."
he can't tell if they're enticed by this, or just mildly exasperated with him.
Ogata: "hm? you're using my name now?"
his voice is low and even.
[name]: "why wouldn't I? we're alone... formal titles aren't necessary here."
Ogata: "presumptuous of you to assume we're that familiar..."
his hand moves up to their throat and tightens, just a bit. his eyes are calculating, watching to see how [name] will react. it annoys him that the confidence hasn't slipped from their face... not even a little.
without much fanfare, [name] sits up, using a surprising amount of abdominal strength to shrug off Ogata's hold... though to be fair, he was caught off guard. in a single movement, [name] maneuvers Ogata with their legs, his balance disrupted. their position flips, and he ends up lying beneath them.
Ogata's eyes narrow, but before he can try to regain the upper hand, [name] is already straddling him, pinning him with their body weight, his arms caught by their hands... they use their position to tease him with their hips.
[name]: "sorry sir, I hadn't meant to be rude... but this all seems pretty 'familiar' to me."
Ogata opens his mouth to say something, but it gets cut off when [name] leans in and bites him, hard. the shock of pain that shoots through his neck makes him choke on air... his body responds too strongly for him to reorient his scrambled brain.
[name]: "sorry sir, what was that? if you're going to order me around, you'll have to be a bit more clear."
they say this as they begin to sink down onto him, effectively distracting him. they choose a different spot and bite him again, just to be certain. the pain spikes his arousal almost as much as the sensation of them grinding their hips down onto him, and Ogata finds that there are no responses left in his head... he can't say a thing.
(this snippet is basically just a little gift to the blog, I'm not intending to write a fic with it or anything, and it doesn't have to be a prompt, though anyone who wants to can use it for anything they like.šŸ‘)

This is such a great start to something spicier and I am living for itšŸ”„Mx. Partner here is so playful, and I love how it is both similar and different from how I imagine Ogata to be in bed! He would definitely be playful to his sexual partners, but in a way where he has full control over the situation. However, Mx. Partner is playful in the sense that they "go along" with Ogata's game, only to subvert it to make the playing field more equal.
I'll save this for later, maybe I'll get around to writing something to add to this šŸ˜šŸ’¦

While I do admit that I have GK characters that I dislike more than the others, I don't really have characters that I won't write for! Yes, certain characters are harder to write for, such as the convicts/other characters that were only featured in the series for one to two arcs. And it's harder to put yourself in the shoes of a character you dislike.
BUT! I shall try my hardest to write for them, nonetheless. :> I like writing in general: I want to expand my skills to include writing for characters that I personally don't like hehe šŸ˜Š

your Ogata nsfw post got me thinking... I feel like being submissive would be good for Ogata (because of all the stuff that'd have to come with it... trust, care, etc.) but that's why he's normally so allergic to it. emotional growth is hard, and generally being in control is more in his comfort zone. with the right partner though...
I like imagining him trying to be dominant like he always is, but then his partner is dom enough to flip the script. they might even let him think that they're going to submit before gently but firmly taking control. but they don't abuse the privilege. it's a fine line, because he'd have no patience for gentle treatment, but his partner is also kind of proving themselves to him... like they have to earn him. in some ways, it'd go right along with his kink for power dynamics... they'd pin him down and do something that makes him choke back a moan, then call him "sir" as a cute bit of irony. it's not mean enough to be mocking... more like sweetly teasing him.

Dominant Ogata is hot and all... but I definitely agree! A taste of submission (not necessarily being the bottom), would do him a lot of good. I like your idea that Ogata thinks this is another simple fuck, but you're right: the script changes and Ogata doesn't know how to act his role. I can see him having an inner turmoil that he doesn't fully understand or comprehend at the moment (not only because he's emotionally calloused, but also because his current objective is getting laid lmao). A part of him is stunned, but a bigger part of him resists and tries to fight.
I think he fights primarily because he expects this dom to be another shitty asshole who's trying to take over control from him to make him feel weak and pitiful. Basically, another person just like him, HAHA! But this dom isn't trying to do that - this dom actually cares for him and maneuvers him with gentle firmness (just like what you said!). The dom doesn't call him by sickly sweet pet names and baby him, nor do they order him around like they own him.
Some lines I thought of:
"Ogata, lay down."
Ogata sneers. "I'm giving the orders here."
His partner snorts; they have the gall to snort at him. "Alright, sir. Then order me to tell you to lie down."
Ogata pauses at that because...well, what the hell?
At first, it's awkward for him but sexy times ensue and at the end of it, he actually...enjoyed it... a lot? LMAO. Ogata would probably avoid them for a while, try to seek other people with his usual modus operandi of being a cold but sexy dom with no care for his sexual partner. But he'd always think back to that one person that made him.... feel.
Although - for me at least - for Ogata to truly be submissive with someone, he needs real connection, trust, and a healthy relationship with that person. He needs to change his outlook on sex as just being a tool for his own gain and learn how to use it as a means of connection and vulnerability.

About your latest post,
I actually been wanting to ask for something similar of GK characters x reader. I have this golden kamuy oc who is a nurse and I ship her with Kouhei Nikaidou. Long story short, I really love them to the point I went so far creating children for them like a normal person wouldšŸ§ā€ā™€ļø
I wasn't sure if the gk oc x canon characters fall into the same category. So I figured I ask you first for confirmation.

While I admit that writing for gk OCs x canon characters would be harder to do (considering that OCs usually have extensive backgrounds and personalities), I think I can work around that loophole!
Instead of "can you write for my OCs x canon character?", I think I can write better for "can you write a scenario with canon character for someone with [characteristic of OC]?". That way, it gives me more flexibility and allows for more generalization, so more people can potentially relate to said content! :-D
Although I do love writing for other people and I love learning more about GK OCs! /gen I personally think OCs are a really nice way of both practicing writing characters and showing your love for a certain piece of media! I'd love to get to know more of them, and I can allot a separate tag for other people's OCs.
Honestly, this blog is for anything GK made for and by its fans: headcanons, metas, scenarios, etc. Anyone can send me their own thoughts, backstories, asks, etc. of the characters and ships, minding the fact that it's within the rules I've set for this blog!

about your question regarding the type of content on this blog... personally I can never really get into x reader fics, so those probably won't be my cup of tea.
however! my vote is still a mix of both kinds of content. especially because that was the original concept you had for the blog, and I could see people enjoying both types!
plus, I think x reader headcanons can also sometimes function as general headcanons, depending on the wording. and those are nice because they can apply more broadly... like, if you post headcanons for Sugimoto, it doesn't matter if someone ships Sugimoto/Ogata, Sugimoto/Tanigaki, Sugimoto/Koito, etc. some bits of it could apply in any case. and then ship-specific stuff could be discussed at request or depending on your own interest.

For all the HCs for specific characters, I've tried to make it as general (and as gender neutral!) as possible, so that it can be applied to anyone. So based on your opinion, I think sticking to more general headcanons - if that's the nature of the ask as well - would be the best approach! <33

Ogata, the man of kodawari
According to the Golden Kamuy Fanbook, Ogata Hyakunosuke is kodawari no katamari (ā€™embodiment of chasing perfectionā€™). At first I was a bit careless when translating this sentence to English and while revising my previous post, this catchy expression totally stuck in my mind.
Katamari (唊) means embodiment.
KodawariĀ (恓恠悏悊) means a Japanese concept which is hard to translate and difficult to describe with one or two words. In short, kodawari is an attitude toward seeking perfection. Kodawari is aĀ life philosophy stating that one should pursue perfection, even while knowing from the outset that perfection never arrives. It is someoneā€™s obsession, relentless pursuit of excellence, but in the positive way.
I thought through and hell yes, kodawari is the essence of Ogata which makes his acts so perfect, careful and sober-minded when it comes to sniping. Ogata is passionately obsessed with rifles and his ambitious attempting for perfect shots rules his life since his childhood. Only the target has changed.
I think he has natural talent for shooting, but his kodawari philosophy helps him much to find the best shelter with the best view to provide the best shot. Ogata is hardly seen without his beloved gun, he literally donā€™t want to exist without it. He sleeps and eats with his rifle within his reach, and he is the only one who brings gun along even to a hot spring.
Of course it simply could be his passion or a self-defense method due to his military past, but I think Ogata rather wants to prove to the others and mostly to himself that he is the perfect sniper whoā€™s able to handle every unexpected situation.
I made the below compilation to summarize how Ogata acts in the kodawari way. After each general descriptions of this unique philosophy (sources found by clicking on the texts) I added how to apply them to Ogata in my opinions.
The general meaning (of kodawari) is a relentless pursuit of precision, quality, attention to detail and craftsmanship in oneā€™s work, craft, or endeavor.
To be a perfect shooter, he must have high quality knowledge about gun types, cartridges, striking ranges and it seems that Ogata is familiar with all of these details:

Sofia being a rebel ever since it's SO ON POINT !!!! Her wanting to make the lives of other people better... it's so noble, even though she has to dirty her hands to do them. But what's admirable about her is that she doesn't care about herself because her focus is on the welfare of others.

THE PART WITH THE BOYS WITH THE PIPE !!!! To add, I love how your idea of how the three met went - Sofia diving fists first (she was ready to throw some hands) until she realizes there's something fishy about these "spies". I think that's a good event to flesh out her character more! :-D
Kiroranke learning how to make bombs because of Sofia's connections... something about that is poignant for me. A big part of Kiroranke's character is his being a master in explosives. It's touching that something that saved him in the war against Russia, something that served him throughout his journey for the gold came from Sofia... I dunno that's a nice hc that I really like šŸ„ŗšŸ«¶
Thank you for the meal, I love your hcs so much!!! I love the last part the most: the three of them would follow each other wherever one of them go. I think that's something that's very apparent in the canon, no matter how it got twisted on Kiroranke's end.
Also, just to add, I love how we just both agreed on Sofia being a bad cook HAHA! And for Wilk....actually you know when I thought about it, it would be hilarious if Wilk does have a bad singing voice, but to Kiroranke and Sofia, it's immaculate because (at least for my hc) they both admire and love him HAHA! Love certainly makes us deaf too, in their case!

research + building a backstory for sofia goldenhand from gk
i donā€™t know why i like side characters so much but i do, and itā€™s painful how little we know about sofia. i decided to run with this idea and make her a little backstory instead of writing my cover letter because work is hell. it also got mixed with a bit of infodumping about a special interest of mine, but what can you do?
check it out below the cut.
DISCLAIMER: itā€™s not the most fleshed out yet, and for it to work (aka to cram a cool piece of historical context in) i had to age kiroranke and wilk up about ten yearsā€” so in 1881, they would be 25 instead of 15, making kiro 51 during the series. meanwhile, sofia is 3 years older than them, making her 28 when the tsar is assassinated.
anyway. hereā€™s the backstory, with some slight bending of canon. itā€™s inspired by some research i did about the historical polyakov brothersā€™ lives + the narodnik revolutionary movement(s). remember though, im no expert!
born in pinsk, belarus (then russian empire) in 1853. instead of being a noble, sheā€™s the youngest daughter of an upper class jewish merchant familyā€” inspired by the identity of the historical goldenhand. also inspired by me because im jewish, and i think sofia's character and cooperation with wilk & kiro benefits from her having a deep, personal reason to protect fellow minorities.
one of the trades allotted to jews was the production of alcohol because it was seen as rather un-christian work. this meant that jewish people were allowed to corner the market on it, and as such, her father was able to rise to a rather prominent position. not only did he work as a middleman for several distillers and taverns, he practiced tax farming, meaning he collected taxes in a method authorized by the state in exchange for a stipend. her mother held a certain position of value at the largest post office in pinsk. immediatelyā€” she had connections to (1) flammable substances like alcohol and (2) pressure-exerting distillery tools for explosive devices, not to mention a source for intel. even if her parents didnā€™t consent to her abuses of their occupations, she didnā€™t care. sheā€™d use what little privilege a jew of the pale of settlement could have to help people.
around age 16 or 17, she was sent to odessa. see, until this time, sofia had been on the straight and narrow. piano lessons, classic novels, learning french and so on. her parents were overbearing, so it came as a surprise when they discovered she was hosting a weekly meeting with the more religious women of pinskā€” slowly but surely radicalizing them with the pamphlets she scouted for and stole around town. she also may have been in a ā€œcorruptingā€ relationship with the local rabbiā€™s daughter, but we donā€™t talk about that.
in odessa, she lived with a distant cousin of hers who was a professorā€” a solitary, unmarried man. she also attended some kind of preparatory school but hung around novorossiysk university in her free time. surrounded by much more radicalized and well read college students, she gladly joined the narodnik movement. thereafter, she began a clandestine printing shop in the crawl spaces and basements of the university. to the older students, she was almost seen as a feisty younger sister. fiery, and too big for her britches.
in the summer of 1871, with whisperings of a pogrom and the campus gone empty, 18 year old sofia started to use her connections to build a veritable arsenal of weapons in a hidden corner of the university. this is the historical event i wanted to shoehorn inā€” the unrest and uprising at novorossiysk. and yeah... i did move this back by about ten years. but also this is the show that Made The Protag's Dad Kill The Czar so some bending history is allowed here, alright? it's for plot's sake.
this is also the summer when two strange 15 year old boys stumble off a train after a trip that took, in all likelihood, several weeks and several pit stops. in the dead of night, she finds them in the library with a lantern, pouring over books about the peasant class. who wouldnā€™t know about the plight of the peasants?! she thinks, only spies! so she knocks them both out and attempts to interrogate them, only for her suspicions to be squashed when the kid with the blue eyes (seriously, theyā€™re the bluest blue sheā€™s ever seen!) canā€™t speak more than three sentences of russian. the one with the (frankly embarrassing) patchy, teenage beard explains everything. being from sakhalin, being ainu, being radicals. damn near knocks her off of her chair.
(he also offers sofia his pipe, which she takes one puff from before promptly coughing up a lung. the boysā€” they give their names as yulbars and wilkā€” get a serious kick out of this ā€œintimidating interrogatorā€ being way more straight laced that she seems... theyā€™ll have to fix that. little did they know how much she would love smoking someday!)
so sofia harshly tutors wilk in russian, and yulbars learns how to make bombs from some of the older students plus a hell of a lot of trial and error. the odessa pogrom of 1871 comes and goes. when it does, sofia finds herself looking to the center of revolutionary work: st petersburg university. with her fathers money, she buys three tickets. doesnā€™t even ask them. she knows yulbars and wilk will follow her to the ends of the earth. she also knows sheā€™d would do the same for themā€” and something about that feels right.

Sofia, Kiroranke, and Wilk Ten Year Runaways

Okay, Iā€™m gonna lay my main card down already: I hc that Kiroranke loved both Wilk and Sofia. His love for Sofia is canon. But honestly, Kirorankeā€™s devotion and love for Wilk during their revolutionary days were so deep and intimate, I canā€™t see it as just plain old war buddies type of love. He loved that man, hence it hurt so much to see the Wilk he loved since his teenage years grow into someone he didnā€™t know and couldnā€™t relate to anymore in the end. It was like betrayal. Maybe one day I should write more about that. But yes, sometimes I think the manga was framing the trio as some sort of love triangle, and it was, but it was Kiroranke loving the both of them. I argue that in that aspect, he was their emotional core.Ā 
I think Kiroranke and Wilk had moments together ā€” Kiroranke, a teenage boy in love with someone older than him, desperately kissing an injured Wilk after the assassination. He would be embarrassed about it, ashamed of his actions, but Wilk said nothing but thanks for his concern. Kiro looking deep into shining blue eyes crinkled in mirth underneath a layer of blood, you fucking bet he realized right then and there he would follow this man wherever he goes. I feel like in those ten years, they had some kind of tension between them that wasnā€™t platonic in nature. Kiro would be passionate and show his adoration for the older man in actions rather than words ā€” being loyal to his leader, following orders without any complaints. Wilk was calculated and cautious, hence he wasnā€™t verbally affectionate, but heā€™d always had his hand on Kiroā€™s shoulder in greeting or leaning into his bigger bulk when restingā€¦ there was definitely some quiet affection shared between the two of them.Ā 
Asirpa in the early parts of the manga tells Sugimoto that a lot of women fell in love with Wilk because of his fine motor skills, especially when crafting something from his own hands. I hc that Sofia wasnā€™t any different. In my mind, there was a point during their runaway days where Sofia asked Wilk to teach her how to hunt, and Wilk crafted her a simple knife Ainu-style while telling her stories about his childhood to pass the time (maybe she heard about the story of child Wilk and the wolf during this time). She started to fall for the man who was passionate about his heritage and was willing to do anything for the people he loved. When it was finished, Wilk brought her along to a two-man hunt. She wasnā€™t successful at hunting, despite Wilkā€™s instructions, but Wilk ā€” who had caught their dinner for that night ā€” encouraged her by telling her that she can practice hunting with him and Kiroranke if she wanted to.Ā 
Sofia canā€™t cook for shit, Kiro can manage, but Wilk was the master at their, er, makeshift kitchen. I can see Sofia being the Sugimoto to Kiroranke and Wilkā€™s Asirpa, wherein the boys would cook something that is ā€œexoticā€ to Sofiaā€™s tastes. Initially, she subconsciously balks at the ingredients and cooking processes, but then later reminds herself that her culture and their culture were equal ā€” they both deserve the same respect and reverance. She ends up liking the mixed cuisines a lot. Also, Wilk who came from both Polish minorities and Ainu people probably did a lot of fusion dishes for fun.Ā 
I can see Sofia to be their spymaster. Sofia is a pretty woman, knows French and Russian, and isnā€™t wanted by the police. Hence, sheā€™s the least suspicious out of the three. I bet that she was really good at her job because sheā€™s a great actress. Iā€™m willing to bet she used her aristocratic knowledge to steal from a fellow nobleman during their runaway years. The reason why she started slipping when it came to Hasegawa was because for the first time in ten years, she felt at peace (this was primarily because of the close presence of Olga, Hasegawaā€™s child). I can even extrapolate that she enjoyed holding Olga close to her because she would daydream of her own child with Wilk.Ā 
Wilk knew that both Kiroranke and Sofia loved him, but didnā€™t do anything about it. He also knew that Kiroranke was in love with Sofia, and made hints to Kiro that he knew, but he was passive when it came to emotions like that. Maybe he saw that maintaining the emotions and reciprocating even a tiny bit was beneficial for him as a leader. Although, I can see him being more partial to Kiroranke because of their shared goal.
Wilk has a great singing voice, I can see him as a baritone. Which means that his voice is well-suited for lullabies and humming. Sometimes when Wilk was on the watch for their group, he would hum songs from his childhood. Both Kiroranke and Sofia would pretend that they were already asleep to hear him quietly and gently string notes that would form soft lullabies about Ainu proverbs and stories. More often than not, they both fall asleep into deep slumber whenever they hear Wilk. Itā€™s a soothing rumble, a very nice sound to let go of consciousness and clutch dreams.

In terms of love, companionship, and sex, I see Tsukishima as being the complete opposite of Ogata. Heā€™s not the type to have sex with just anybody ā€” he needs to be in a happy and committed relationship for a while before he even suggests making love with his beloved. Heā€™s a monogamous man through and through and would feel uncomfortable with other sexual partners aside from his lover. Sex for Tsukishima is all about expressing love in a different way, itā€™s about giving pleasure to his life partner and showing how much theyā€™re valued in his life. Underneath that tough exterior is a man who craves gentleness and goodness in the world; it makes sense that heā€™s also the same with his sex life. The absolute king of aftercare and communication when it comes to consent and boundaries during sex (and outside too I guess).Ā 
[But as I think about Tsukishima, I can also see him being soā€¦disassociated with his emotions and values following his stint in the Seventh Division that he would be willing to fuck anyone as part of his ā€œdutyā€ as a sergeant. He would also use sex as an unconscious coping mechanism for the horrors heā€™s faced in his life. He doesnā€™t see himself as anything attractive, but if a person propositions themselves to fucking around with him in the darkness, heā€™d accept it monotonously. Heā€™d do great, but his heart wouldnā€™t be in it.]Ā 
Letā€™s focus on him making love, yes?Ā 
A. Dynamic (Top, Bottom, Versatile vs Dominant, Submissive, Switch)
Tsukishima is versatile, in the sense that heā€™ll adapt to his partnerā€™s needs. However, I do see him enjoying being the top more, only because heā€™s a service top. I think his desire and need for devoted service isnā€™t limited to his work too: I can see him as a person who delights in making his partner feel pleasure, more than feeling pleasure for himself. Although, heā€™s a really pretty bottom too, if his partner wants him to be (he also enjoys it, especially if it makes them happy) <3Ā

Hello everyone! I recently got an ask regarding general NSFW HCs for the GK cast, and I was soooo excited to work with it!!!! You guys have no idea how much I wanted an NSFW ask /lh HAHAHA
The ask allowed me free reign on which characters to write for, and you already know me by now. Of course, we'll go with this one first (one of my absolute biggest muses, this fucking bastard). I find Ogata to be really easy to write for and get into his headspace for some reason, I love it!
