I literally just learned that male carpenter bees are usually the ones tasked with protecting the nest from predators. They have that little yellow bald spot on their heads, and they’re usually the ones buzzing and hovering near you, just kinda looking at you. However, the reason they hover near you is actually because they think they’re being intimidating, and they’re trying to scare you off. If that doesn’t work, well, male carpenter bees don’t have stingers, and they don’t bite, so they’re only defense mechanism to scare humans off is to bump into us over and over. Literally just fly full speed into us, head first, and hope it’s enough to scare us away. I love carpenter bees so much. 🥺 Truly the himbos of the insect world.

I feel like we, as a society, are sleeping on how funny Sklonda Gukgak is as a character. yes, yes, she's amazing and heartbreaking and I would die for her. we all know it. let's talk about how she is objectively fucking hilarious.

she's a single mom. she instituted a minimum four hour nightly sleep for her son, completely ignoring the fact that her son got his sleep and coffee habits from her. she took a hard left from police work into public defense, but kept her gun and goes to active crime scenes with her son and his friend. they mentioned one (1) time that she was dating a devil who is easily ten times the size of her entire body. this fact is never brought up again. she loves her son's friends, but does not like or trust any of them. despite this, she 100% went on vacation with them and all their parents. she laments her son's relentless and self-destructive work ethic right before conking out on the kitchen table at 3am. she helped her kid eat a dragon.

this woman is as feral as they come. she's hilarious. I adore her. 11/10, Brennan. no notes.

as we know the higher up you are the closer you are to god. this means when clouds form in the sky they actually develop sentience and immediately start cannibalising each other to get more divine power. when a cloud is strong enough it does gain psychoelectric abilities but it also gets too heavy and begins to die, blaming the ground for ripping it from the heavens and attacking with its thunder on the way down. nevertheless its pieces descend like whale fall spreading the last of its divine light into the earth

I think people often underestimate the potential educational value of senseless memes. For example, thanks to Spiders Georg, literally every teenager on Tumblr has a reasonable grasp of what a statistical outlier is and the sorts of problems that outliers can introduce into a naïve analysis. There are grown adults who don’t get that - I deal with them on a daily basis.

Do you ever think about how a single misguided study on wolves in captivity has resulted in both the most widespread toxic pseudoscientific theory in the manosphere and what is arguably the weirdest genre of graphic kinky gay fanfiction and depending on who you are and what you've seen you'll hear the word Alpha and either think of the platonic ideal of a cis het man or one feral mediocre middle aged actor's dick knot impregnating another's slick-drenched hole. IMO you can't say anything coherent about most US-based right wing conspiracy theories without understanding how seriously the diehards in these movements believe in The Devil

the obvious question, "who benefits from maintaining this elaborate lie," does not stop people like Flat Earthers because many of them are young earth creationists who believe in powerful spiritual forces whose only goals are

1. convincing people that Christianity isn't true

2. the proliferation of largely symbolic Evil, which they enjoy tricking you into supporting

"tricking" people into believing the earth is round is enough of a goal for The Devil to go to all that trouble. if people don't believe in God's perfect little flat earth then they're also free to believe in things like evolution and the big bang

practicality and material concerns are usually irrelevant. the lie is worth maintaining because The Devil has near unlimited time, resources, and human servants, and his top priority is Getting You
