How Delusional Am I?

I think very; I am probably the only one who does this, but I highly recommend getting a piece of jewelry/an article of clothing/an accessory or a decorative piece for yourself that is “from” your comfort character.

You won’t regret it, I promise! I found the perfect little necklace that I just KNEW would be something Nica would give me, and when I tell you I can’t stop wearing it 🥺 I also have Tiff’s necklace and imagining her giving it to me always makes me giggle.

It’s silly, but it’s such a good way to feel close to your favorite stories and characters!! It’s like carrying a piece of them with you!

Anyway, are any of you like me, or are you normal? 😂

I decree on my birthday there should be nothing but good vibes, so as my gift to you here is:

Pictures found on Andy Barclay’s Phone Part 2 💙

This is Andy’s favorite photo of the kids and is his Home screen background. He also has it framed on his bed side table, which they absolutely tease him about, but he doesn’t care since he loves them so much.

Andy snaps this picture on Junior’s birthday- Nica went all out (as she does with all of the kids birthdays) and he was embarrassed and shy about it at first but was so excited when Nica brought out extra chocolate brownies instead of cake for his dessert!

Nica calls Junior and Jake “Double Trouble” and this is why; this is a typical night when Andy and Nica have said it’s time for bed. The parents pretend to be irritated, but they can’t be mad watching the strong bond the cousins have.

Nica sent this picture to him (“Say hi to Dad, guys!”) when he was away visiting his Mom and Mike. Andy got emotional, immediately saved it and shared it with his Mom then proceeded to spend the rest of the night talking all about his kids.

Andy took this while Junior was laughing at something Nica said. He saved it because it was one of the first times he saw a genuine smile on Junior’s, the grief and trauma forgotten for a while. He decides to call this Junior’s “Nica” or “Mom” smile. 😭

When Nica goes away on a little girl’s trip with Rachel, the kids all miss her horribly. Four days into her trip Andy texts her begging her to FaceTime them for a little bit so the kids will smile. This is their reaction to seeing and checking in on their Mom. 🥺

Andy thinks there’s nothing cuter than a sleepy Nica. When they go on their first vacation and have a layover at the airport, he can’t help but take this picture of her in his sweatshirt, sleepy but very content from a full day of traveling.

This photo was sent to Andy after Junior texted him asking where the fire extinguisher was. Andy immediately replied in a panic, but Junior insisted everyone and everything was good and sent this cheeky photo as “proof.”

When Alice is born, Andy and Nica are surprised how quickly they adapt as a team to life with a newborn. When Andy gets out of the shower and comes back to this sight he can’t help but take a picture…A tear or two might be shed.

For me I think it’s that I’ve been a part of MANY fandoms where a lot is in between the lines, so I’ve learned to love gray areas and doing part of the work myself!

It makes it fun for me to imagine what’s going on in between episodes/movies/etc

And horror especially I’m lenient with if it’s entertaining/the characters progress- part of horror is pain, so I definitely have my opinions and feelings and don’t believe many things are perfect, but boy do I still love my shows/characters! 🥺

YES!!! Brains are a powerful thing and I always emulate or steal my favorite characters strengths when I feel closer- it makes perfect sense!

I love holding onto a piece of them and telling myself it’s from them.

I also love believing they send me music and that specific songs will come on because they were wanting me to hear it/think of them!

Pictures found on Andy Barclay’s Phone 💙

This feels relatively safe posting, and these are such wholesome photos! Please enjoy!

This is one of his favorite photos ever and was the background on his phone for a long time! 🥺

Nica is quietly into photography and loves taking photos- especially of her kids! When Andy snapped this of her, he thought she looked so beautiful and in her element. She just rolled her eyes at him and laughed.

Rachel took this photo and sent it to Andy after a particularly raucous Girl’s Night. Andy kept it for blackmail purposes and because he always thinks she’s cute, but it pissed Nica off hardcore. 😂

Nica doesn’t always love getting her photo taken. When they first started dating, she always made sure she looked as cute as she could in the photos he’d take. But after a while she would just roll her eyes and stick her tongue out at him. NOT pictured here is the shock on her face right after he snapped this, followed by exclamations of “DELETE THAT!!!”

Our girl has a soft spot for animals- she sees them the same way she sees kids, and always attracts the pet of whoever she is visiting. I can see Rachel having this type of dog, and I think Rachel snapped this after she told Nica “You know you can’t keep her, right?” And that was the look she received. “You’re gonna say that to me?”

One of Andy’s favorite things is to watch Nica be the amazing mother she is. As she listens intently to Junior at breakfast one morning, he can’t help but fall in love all over again, and he snaps this picture to preserve the moment.

Andy secretly can’t get enough of his kids, and while Nica took Junior to an appointment, Andy had an amazing night of bonding with Lexy Jake and Devon. He couldn’t stop looking at this picture and laughing afterward, and he teased them mercilessly for their poses.

More of Mama Nica!

All of the kids have parental trauma, that’s for sure. Most of them, however, miss their Mom.

Junior, Jake and Devon got incredibly lucky in the Mother department, which honestly made their loss and their relationship to their fathers all the more traumatic.

Nica and Junior filled the hole in each other’s hearts, and their bond was almost instantaneous. He was the first to refer to her as “Mom”, and for a long time all they had was each other.

When her family grew and she finally got to meet Jake and Devon, it was similarly simple; Jake at first seemed suspicious of her easy acceptance of their relationship and hesitant to allow anyone to take a maternal role in his life, while Devon was more focused on surviving and keeping everyone together. Very quickly they both learned about her history, and their admiration of her turned into the hero-worship they held for Andy Barclay. As they bonded with Andy and witnessed their hero fall in love with the strong woman that took care of them so well, the parental relationship they felt with both of them grew and solidified along with it.

Lexy, however, was a special case.

The spunky blonde had never had a positive female role model until Rachel and Nica came along. Her mother had lost her way falling into politics; become critical and fake, neglecting Lexy and heaping unrealistic expectations and standards on her oldest.

Lexy could faintly remember when she was very little, the days spent laughing and driving around in the car with her Mom, the way she’d brush her hair and wrap her up in blankets. It felt like a different lifetime, someone else’s memories entirely, but she could remember when she and her mother were best friends.

Nica’s heart goes out to Lexy. She knows how a complicated mother-daughter relationship can affect someone. So she bides her time. She makes sure to always include Lexy and invite her when she does things with the kids, but she never insists or pushes her. It’s a conscious effort, one that takes a lot of restraint when all Nica wants to do is hug her and whisk her away, protect her from the world.

The first time Nica finds Lexy crying about Caroline is the first time Nica plays her card. She shares the strained relationship she had with her sister and sympathizes, telling her she’s sorry and leaving lots of space for Lexy to actually talk about it. When she does, she surprises Nica and crumbles into her chest, hugging her tightly and letting herself be wrapped in maternal comfort and affection. She tells Nica how amazing she thinks she is, that Nica inspires her, seemingly shocked and bashful when Nica says she feels the same way about her.

From that moment on, the two become close. They make it a point to have “girl time”, doing face masks together (sometimes with Rachel) and cherishing the mother-daughter relationship that is new and foreign to both of them.

Nica Pierce loves all of her children fiercely and equally, but she can’t deny that working to earn Lexy’s love, respect and trust, is one of the most fulfilling things she’s done with motherhood.

She sometimes lets herself believe that she IS actually pretty good at the whole “Mom” thing.

LITERALLY. Her biggest supporters for REAL. And after having her Mom and Barb for so long it would feel so odd to her! She’s never had that kind of relationship before, and it means SO much to her.

They have family study time and Andy uses it to clean up after dinner and keep the cabin maintained, and all the kids and Nica make a relaxing playlist to have in the background and help them focus! Rachel ends up so grateful to Nica for going back to school cause it helps the kids too 😂

Desperately need to distract myself from last night’s episode, so have a new

Nica Headcanon!

Eventually, when the dust settles, Nica completes her thesis and gets her degree.

It’s Andy’s idea, and she initially laughs it off when he mentions it one night while they’re laying in bed. She points out that her whole life is different now, that she’s a different person- she’s older, a trauma survivor and a Mother.

Andy doesn’t push it, but he kisses her hair and promises she’d have his help and support- in school and parenting- if she decided to go back, and that it may be a chance to take her life back, do something for herself, and be proud of an accomplishment.

Despite her best efforts to forget the conversation, it sticks with her for days. When she finally decides she wants to do it, she talks to all of the kids before signing up, terrified they’ll feel like she’s abandoning them when she becomes busier with schoolwork.

Nica is never more grateful for her new family- her true family- than when she’s completing her degree. Andy, Rachel and Kyle step up to make her more frequent absence from the cabin almost unnoticeable. The kids all stay on their best behavior (as much as they can) so that they don’t contribute to their mother’s stress or make her worry.

Despite her anxieties and embarrassment over being one of the older students in the class, Nica pushes through and finishes, finally getting her degree! She doesn’t want to make a big deal out of it, and insists to Andy that she does not want a party, but if he wants to plan a nice dinner he can, since she knows he would feel bad not celebrating.

She’s shocked, then, when she returns home to find streamers and signs all over the cabin, all of the kids and her family there yelling their congratulations.

“It wasn’t me.” Andy is quick to tell her, shrugging as he smiles over at the kids. It’s only then that it sinks in that all the signs say “Congratulations, Mom!” Or “Proud of you, Mom!”

“They said their *Mom* always celebrates them, and they wanted to be able to do the same for her.” He says softly.

Nica heads straight for them, and as if they’ve been waiting, they all tackle her with hugs and love, letting her hold onto each of them a little longer than normal.

Andy snaps a picture of her with all of her kids, and it’s Greg’s framed and put on her bedside table, along with the Full Family Photo from that day,

She was wrong, she thinks, she *could* be more grateful for her family.

Don’t imagine Andy getting Dr. Nica Barclay-Pierce plaques for the house 🥺😂

The kids (especially Junior, I think) would make the joke that she can be their therapist now, which would make her PANIC until she realizes they’re just giving her shit.

It would definitely change her relationship with her own trauma, and sometimes she can’t help herself from remembering Chucky and Tiffany and wondering what their mental “health” is like.
