 adding to this a bit more, I did read a study once exploring how autism may have been a survival trait in prehistoric times because autistic people are more aware of their surroundings and able to perceive subtle differences better IE  the pressure changing right before there’s about to be a big storm, the shift in an animals expression when it goes from being docile to about to attack you, being able to compartmentalize and remain calm in a crisis rather than just letting their emotions take over. I feel like the show runners may have read that study and went with it…

HEARTBREAK HIGH SEASON 2 SPOILER:

Quinn would have died from that snakebite if she wasn’t autistic. She woudn’t have known not to panic, and she wouldn’t have had the mental strength and objective reasoning to be able to look at the situation from outside herself and be able to stop herself from panicking and communicate to the others that that’s what she needed. I love that they had an arc that showed autism as an asset, without the need to loudly and overtly assert it. ♥️

What exactly is the bit with Spencer’s mom supposed to be saying about our society? Name me a single mother who would act like that around her male child? This is not an issue of mothers treating their sons like that, that’s not a thing!

Guys like Spencer exist because of society not because of their moms hating men, if anything he should have been raised by a toxic male OR more realistically a single mother who adores him and puts him on a pedestal and doesn’t let him take accountability for his actions. But they make her mean to him for what — so we feel bad for Spencer? These show runners act like characters can only be relatable and sympathetic if they have CPTSD or are part of a marginalized group. This whole scenario was not needed.

sad, because Spencer while a is clearly a good guy at heart and he was set up to have a lot of growth to do in the series, but this arc did absolutely nothing… except introduce a new caricature(oops I meant character) who contributes nothing to the story. What are waste of screen time. Also side note they’re stealing heartstopper’s game by making him speak French and missy finds it hot lol. I literally felt like I was watching Nick and Sarah and Charlie.
