"That is true." He said, shrugging. It hadn't taken long to realize he was out of his own time, quite extremely- if Gabriel had changed so drastically over the years than Lucifer himself must have done much of the same.

That didn't surprise him.

What surprised him was the fact that, at first glance... Gabriel had seemed scared of him.

"What happened to you, Gabriel?" He wasn't necessarily expecting an answer, but it seemed right to ask nonetheless.

This wasn’t Lucifer. Not the Lucifer who’d- Not him. Gabriel frowned, his brow furrowing. This was definitely Lucifer, but not Lucifer the last time they’d met. This Lucifer was purer. This Lucifer was younger.

This Lucifer was yet to kill him. 

"I’d say th’ same for you, but it’s less you’ve changed, an’ more you have’ changed yet."

It was that that finally sparked recognition in Lucifer's mind, despite the fact that he had never seen this vessel before, nor did he immediately recognize the grace within it, so different it was from it had been from whence he had came-

"Gabriel." There was awe in the archangel's voice as he said the name of the angel who was once his little brother.

This Gabriel was not little- he was grown, he was mature, he was so much darker than the perfect, radiant child he had been.

"You've changed."

The body in front of him, Gabriel didn’t recognize. Never seen the kid before in his life. The grace though, that thrummed from inside the vessel… Well, it was one of a kind. It was the only grace that could freeze him stiff with fear, leave him wordless, and pretty damn scared.

So Gabriel responded in the only way he knew how - with sarcasm.

"Somethin’ a little less formal would’ve been nice, bro, or ‘ave you forgotten me?"
