this episode proves a point about the bad kids that i think the rat grinders fully don’t understand.
they’re not out saving the world for glory, or even to simply save the world. they’re also saving people, individuals, when they need it.
they’re showing compassion at every turn.
one conversation with jawbone saved his life. they wrote off zayn but found the truth about him and gave him a home in death he never had in life. they walked ragh up to being able to reevaluate his life, and embraced him when those changes happened, saving his school career by inviting him on the spring break quest. aelwyn was someone they had every reason to leave behind, but they all tried their best to help her and are happy to have her help now. they set it up for gilear to have several jobs, trying at different times to help him and then later literally breaking his curse. they became the friends ayda never had and pushed her father to reach out, not her to reach out to her father. and, of course, lydia. they saw her pain and asked her about it, but also asked her about her friends. they finished her quest with her permission, allowing her to finally rest (and helping ragh to relax now, too).
they’re not just saving the world. they’re making it better, especially for people who have been overlooked. and that’s why people at school like them. not for whatever bullshit reasons the rat grinders have made up in their heads.
the dynamic between heinz doofenschmirtz and perry the platypus would probably come off as v romantic and gay if they were two people in a similar age range rather than a dude and a platypus. no i dont ship them but think about it. villainous monologues are already a very romantic and gay thing in itself (don’t question me on this you know im right). listening to somebody ramble excitedly about something they’re proud of is even more romantic and cute af. also doofensmirtz is already gay anyway. the only thing preventing this from becoming Peak Gay is the fact that perry is strictly professional and also a platypus. thanks for coming to my ted talk
Reblog to let your followers know that they’re safe from jumpscares/screamers/etc from you on April 1st but they are NOT safe from getting boop’d like an idiot amen
downsizing seasons from 22 episodes to 13 to 8. describing miniseries as "8 hour movies". loudly declaring that shows with 20+ episodes per season cannot truly be good. complaining that "it couldve been a movie". complaining about filler episodes. complaining about bottle episodes. complaining about episodes that prioritize character over plot. fr i think y'all just dont like television
I can’t stop thinking about how Trapp is playing Hunch.
Like his client asks him to find someone and he does. Job over. But instead of questioning Conrad, or trying to break down the mystery of it all, he’s more concerned with how everyone’s treating him. So, he gets in a fight with the owner of a speakeasy, tries to stop known mobsters, stands up to a literal murder, all because he sees a kid and knows he can’t possibly deserve the treatment he’s getting. He isn’t getting paid to care about Conrad, or even really Imelda. And yet when they to go to the memory bank, Hunch immediately acts as a distraction, so Imelda can get what they need without anyone else getting hurt. Technically, their business is done, but he still makes himself the target rather than playing the part of the detective he is and potentially putting her in danger.
Curiosity doesn’t need to be kind, but he is. He’s kind because sometimes, being curious about other people, means trusting them before you have the proof that it’s the right choice.
