She purposefully kept her distance, out of sight, but tears welled up in her eyes as she watched her mother, singing a soft, gentle lullaby to the infant Zelda in her arms.

"I am your Zelda, after the Calamity." It would be difficult enough for Impa to process the fact that Zelda was not the same, but to explain the hundred-year fight, the loss, the destruction - she didn't want to put all of that one Impa's shoulders. She let her magic fade and took a step back to give Impa a bit of space.

"I've been playing with time, trying to find a way to help the kingdom with a new threat. I came back here for research, but as I said, I'm running out of time."

Confusion crossed her features as Impa processed her words for a few moments. If this wasn’t her Zelda, then who was she? Impa thought. Once Impa found her voice again, she slowly spoke up. “O-okay.. so if you’re not the Zelda I know, then what happened to her and who are you? Are you like another version of my dear friend?”

Impa watched as the princess concentrated and yes, the Triforce started glowing in the back of her hand. She had a lot of questions that needed answering and for a moment, Impa felt that she might pass out. “I’m going to need a moment to process this.”

"No, you didn't upset me, I was simply... startled." She brushed her hair back with her hands, fingers combing through gold locks. If she was honest, waking up to someone nearby was a nice change from waking up alone - almost like she had her knight with her again. "I apologize, you took time to protect me and I treated you suspiciously."

"Ah, ye- sort of? I saw you lying there, and figured I would stay here until you woke up." He replied sheepishly. It seemed like a kind thing to do at the time since he could usually hear monsters before they became problems... though he figured that she had some sort of magic shield or something to protect her already. "I'm sorry if I upset you. I just didn't want to leave you here asleep with monsters around. I saw a few archers not too far away, though they didn't seem likely to come on over here."

Impa's words, so positive and hopeful, did little to ease the weight on Zelda's shoulders. She gave a shake of her head, closing her eyes. "Oh, Impa - I'm... I truly do appreciate everything, but... I am not your Zelda. I haven't been for a long time."

She holds out her hands, concentrating and letting the Triforce glow on the back of her hand as she summons her magic. "I unlocked my magic a long time ago - for me, at least. For you and the rest of this Hyrule, it will be on my 17th birthday."

Impa frowned a bit knowing that it was most likely the King’s words getting to her once more. “And we’ll be with you every step of the way. Your chosen champions; Link, Urbosa, Daruk, Mipha and Revali will prevail. And I know I have my duties at the village, but I’ll also be there to help in any way I possibly can.”

“But back to the point, your powers will awaken when you least expect it, Princess.” Impa refused to let her doubt herself.
