black knight inspired fangame idea (xbox controller base)
OVERALL FEEL - platformer inspired by p-06 mixed with a heavy combat focus
PLAYERS - left stick - move (duh) - a button - jump - Left Bumper - block - blocking within 10 frames before getting hit will result in a parry, stunning the opponent. - x (parry) - strong counter attack, sending enemies away - b button - dodge (directional. not holding a direction will have the player duck quickly) - dodging within 3 frames before getting hit will result in a perfect dodge, setting the end lag of their attack to "super a lot" - x button (perfect dodge) - strong counter attack, sending enemies away - right stick - camera movement - left trigger - reset camera behind - Click right stick - change camera type - type 1: sonic style: player moves independent of camera. good for platforming and groups of enemies - type 2: over the shoulder style: camera gets closer and stays facing the same direction as the player. - Click left stick - change lockon state - lockon style: moving the right stick will cycle between enemies to target instead of being able to move freely, and the camera will constantly be locked onto them. the style will turn itself off when no enemies are in sight or in a particular radius. sometimes, lockon style will be forced on during a boss fight or new enemy introduction - Right Trigger - something with a meter of some kind? - d pad left/right - cycle items? - d pad down - use items? - d pad up - turn super / use super ability?
ENEMIES - weight can determine how far they're launched as well as their gravity - armor and prevent flinching and attack interruptions - sometimes armor can be broken with enough damage or enough shieldbreaking attacks
SONIC - x button - fast 3 hit combo. all swipes. third hit has higher end lag but has higher damage and kind of leads back into the first hit - y button - quick hit with the hilt of the sword. breaks shields - right bumper - charge spindash - x button (block) - instant shoulder shove. weak but sends enemies away - a button (block) - slow upward swipe + jump, sets up for a homing attack or air combo - x button (air) - normal 3 hit combo that stalls sonic in the air. third hit sends enemies down and away - y button (air) - sonic stomps directly downward and swings his sword in a circle along the ground when he lands - a button (air) - homing attack. ends in a single sword attack sending the opponent away and sonic up. frontiers levels of end lag - right bumper (air) - charge dropdash
SHADOW - x button - fast 3 hit combo. two swipes and a slam. third hit has higher beginning and ending lag but much higher damage. shadow somewhat slowly rolls over his sword back into the first hit on hit 4 - y button - quick hit with chaos energy from offhand. breaks shields - x button (block) - fast shoulder shove. strong and sends enemies away, but has some end lag - right bumper - charge chaos spear - a button (block) - slow upward swipe + jump, sets up for a homing attack or air combo - x button (air) - single swipe that slams enemies into the ground - y button (air) - shadow stomps directly downward and slams the ground with chaos energy - a button (air) - homing attack. ends in a chaos attack state where shadow is hovering in the air if the opponent is not dead. the opponent is stunned in place until the final hit or when shadow exits chaos attack. opponent can still block and dodge - x button (chaos attack) - very very fast 5 hit combo. shadow flips around swiping his sword across the enemy and ends in a backflip kick that sends the enemy away. un-parryable but blockable - y button (chaos attack) - any time during combo, shadow hits the enemy with chaos energy, breaking shields - b/a button (chaos attack) - exit chaos attack. bounce off as if enemy had no health.
BLAZE - x button - moderately fast 2 hit combo. both swipes. acts as an infinite combo how it combos into itself - y button - normal lunge, sends blaze forward quite quickly. does not break shields - right bumper - upward swipe (sends enemies upward) - block - has 15 extra frames for parrying, but cannot block otherwise - x button (air) - quick stab. sends enemies away - y button (air) - blaze stalls for a moment before immediately dashing diagonally down and forward. she skewers any enemies in her path, and when she hits the ground, any enemies around her get launched away in a small fiery explosion (power and radius depending on how far she fell). she takes a small moment to pull her sword from the ground. she can only dive once per jump - a button (air) - double jump. blaze spins around with a surrounding fiery aura and swings her sword around. any enemies caught in the path get stuck to her. this can interrupt her dive attack. she can only double jump once per jump
JET - x button - fast 5 hit combo. 4 swipes and one cut. final hit has jet swiping both his blades downward at once, and it is twice as powerful as the rest but also begins twice as slow. - y button - slow dual sword swing, sending a damage-dealing gust of wind forward. the sword part of the attack breaks shields - right bumper - boomerang sword throw (throws when bumper is released. cannot attack without both swords. block becomes easier to break with each airborne sword. swords can be thrown independently from one another) - x button (block) - moderately fast headbutt. sends enemies away - a button (block) - fast backflip kick + jump, sets up for air combos - x button (air) - fast 5 hit combo. jet stalls in midair performing his normal - y button (air) - jet stalls for a moment then dashes forward in midair with a cut. if he hits an enemy, he also swipes downward at the end, sending himself up and his opponent down. can only be used once per jump unless he hits an opponent - a button (air) - graceful backflip double jump. jet cannot be harmed while he is flipping. only usable once per jump unless he hits an opponent with a dash
