CUTE BOY FROM CLASS WHO IS GROWING HIS HAIR OUT AND WEARING A HOODIE: thanks for helping me with my homework! hey um... is it okay if I tell you something important? you have to promise to keep it a secret....
I try to distance myself from the furry fandom nowadays (not outright quit it but definitely keep a safe distance from all of the really toxic parts of it (of which there are a lot)) but the fact that the fandom in certain parts is so open about sexuality and kink has helped me be a more open-minded person as a whole not even in terms of sexuality but everything.
I do think that the idea that it is more entertaining and fulfilling to talk to people who are kinkier or into more things than are just accepted by society comes from not from the fact that "kinky=better" but from the fact that often the very pure and holy "god forbid I hear the word penis" type of people struggle to talk about or even have an opinion on more than just sex, they usually fall and crumble at ANYTHING that is even moderately taboo. And taboo is such a wide term for them, in the worst cases a guy wouldn't even open up about his emotions because "man must be tough", human emotions are taboo. Essentially everything that one could do to be happy or euphoric even just becomes "ew no that's disguisting go away". To conclude - purists' issue is usually not them being against sexuality of any kind, but them being scared of everything, including sexuality.
In my experience, ace people (sex-repulsed or not) were not like this. I wasn't like this, usually someone who is ace doesn't quite find sexuality and also 700 other things which are often nothing too awkward uncomfortable, it's usually mostly about sexuality and more or less intimacy, and that is if someone is repulsed by sex, some are not, some of my kinkiest conversations have been had with fully ace people lol.
Main takeaway is that you should touch grass and socialise lol, it's just a lot more fun and nice when the people you're talking to don't have christian guilt.
said this on bsky but Id love to be friends with so called "gooners" and freaks over people who are weirdly anti-sex/puritanical
