C25k w1d3
I'm a little behind already. Technically I should be starting week 2 by now. But that's OK. I'm just getting back into the swing of things and figuring out how to fit in running with baby. I'm also still hurting a bit down below so I don't want to push it too hard. I think I'm going to repeat week 1 at least once more. The goal is to get back to fitness and lose some weight, not a specific race date (yet), so no harm in doing some repeats.

Did double duty today. Took the babe for a walk in the stroller then did c25k day 2 when husband got done work. My pelvis is a little sore from day 1 so I took it easy. Nothing unbearable but not sure which way it's going to go. I should probably get in to see the chiropractor. I have to confess, the turn around point for my walk today was Tim Hortons, and I did go in. That pit stop surely canceled out the walk, but I'll be honest, I'm not ready to fully change all my eating habits back to the healthier way I was doing it before. Shit is hard with a 3 month old attached to you all day long. Driving through our Walking through while he sleeps in the car or stroller is sometimes the only way I can get a meal into me. I'll get there. Baby steps.

So here it is, my post-preggo body. I’m surprisingly OK with it. My body did amazing things in giving birth to my son. I feel things that I’ve never felt as far as love and happiness, and I don’t feel the bad way I felt about my body a couple years ago when I was over weight just because. That said though, my mind and heart have been longing to get back to running, but My body just wasnt ready. I’m still not positive my body is ready, but today was the day. I hopped on the treadmill and banged out c25k w1d1! I’m so pumped! Sure, it was slow, it was hard, and my pelvis is feeling it a bit, but I did it! And my heart and my mind are happy! Hello running, I’ve missed you!

Put Ash in the wrap and went out for a 3.4k walk with the dog. I was getting a little sore in the pelvis area by the end but not too bad. I think things are getting better every time I go for a walk, so that's positive.

So I've been out for a few walks in the last week or so. That's about all I can handle. After about 15 minutes of walking my pelvis gets quite sore and I end up sort of limp-waddling home. During pregnancy I had issues with SPD, which basically means a lot of pelvic pain. Just getting out of bed in the morning hurt! When I had Ash, most of the pain went away pretty quickly, but I guess is still lingering when I am active. I assume in time the pain will go away, so I'll keep trying to walk and hopefully each week things get a bit better. I also tried to get back into tracking my food on MFP. That lasted about a day. With a very needy newborn on hand, who's got time or brain power for tracking? I am however trying to be more mindful of what I'm eating. We'll start with that!

Hi everyone! I know I've been MIA for quite some time but I'm happy to announce I've had my baby! Meet Asher Macs Thomas, the love of my life! It's been a hectic few weeks but I'm 6 week postpartum on Wednesday and ready to get back at it! I've basically lost all of my fitness and I gained a lot of weight so I'm starting back at day 1. That's OK though, I did it before, I will do it again. Follow along with me!

Being 7.5 months pregnant, I've been feeling really out of touch with my running world and a little bummed about it,  and worried I'll have a hard time getting back into it. Then my Running friend Lucas McAneney goes and runs the Houston Marathon this past weekend and does a PB of 2:18 and change,  finishing 15th and I feel so happy and amazed and all of the emotions,  and I can't wait to get back to running and I know I'll be just fine! Read Lucas' race report here: http://lucaslongrun.wordpress.com/2014/01/20/houston-marathon-post-race-report/

I was just starting to get a lot better about this self destructive talk. And then I got pregnant. Don't get me wrong,  I am thrilled to be pregnant and have my first child on the way,  but I am struggling. A lot. With self image,  letting go of being able to do the activities I was 7 months ago,  not stressing about the number on the scale,  healthy eating, dealing with pain in my hips,  my back and my pelvis,  just from walling around the mall for a half hour. A lot of stuff. This video is a good reminder. To both myself and to the kind of role model I want to be to my child. Pregnancy is a real trip. One I wouldn't ever want to miss,  but one that's not always sunshine and lollipops. (Although I've certainly had those moments as well.) I'm 27 weeks today, and I'll be honest,  I'm ready for it to be over. I would like my body back,  my abilities back,  but most of all I can't wait to cuddle my son. Anyways this post had gone off topic a bit,  watch the video and be kind to yourself!!

Water Running
While at the pool today I thought I'd try out some water running. I quickly realized I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing. Do we kick to the back? Do we raise the knees? Do we move around? Stay in one spot? Is there proper form? Does it matter?
I spent about 15 solid minutes running in the water. All I know is my legs got tired and ayer 25 more minutes of swimming, I'm now home and in need of a serious nap! So, I must have done something right!
Any tips would be welcome!

It was such a perfect day out today so we took the dog for a hike. I hit almost 7000 steps for the day which is the most I've done in weeks! It was great!

Swimming!
You people are brilliant! I'm actually a little embarrassed I didn't think of that, but I blame baby brain, which is a legit thing I tell you. So I went for my first swim (in a long time) today and it was wonderful. It was me and a pill full of senior citizen and I grabbed a pool noodle and owned it! 50 minutes of paddling and kicking around. It felt great. My whole body felt like it got a work out but it didn't feel overly difficult and I felt no pain anywhere! On my way out I canceled my full gym membership and switched it over to a much cheaper pool only pass. Which also helps the bank account and no income thing. I hope to go 2-3 times each week and hope to be able to go for as long as possible. Who knows, maybe I'll even make some senior friends!

My hips are crying this morning. Maybe stairs wasn't a great idea. Back to the drawing board on ways to stay active while pregnant and it's freezing cold outside. Suggestions welcome.

Bumps and I climbed stairs tonight.
Today was my last day of work. It was a little bit busy and a little bit, or a lot of bit, annoying. So, I didn't get our for a walk during daylight hours, and by the time I did get our to walk the dog it was quite cold with no sunlight. She humored me for about 15 minutes and then insisted we go back inside.
So as not to give up on my daily commitment to 30 minutes of activity on only day 3, I came in and started climbing up and down the stairs. I get pretty winded doing stairs now, so the key was slow and steady and to focus on breathing, but I did 15 minutes of stair climbing.
30 minutes of daily activity accomplished!

Well firing up the old fit bit did help me to be more active today. I went out around lunch for a walk. No purpose but to be active and move my body and get some steps in. A solid half hour walk. We'll try this again tomorrow.

I know what I'm going to do! Shortly after buying a fitbit, I found out I was pregnant. The fitbit never stood a chance. I think it's time to find it and get reacquainted.
