hallmarks of sisterhood
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
putellas!reader. r mediates a fight between her sisters. they don't realize they're tearing her apart in the process. at least, not until they ruin an important night for her. can they make it up to her? fluff & angst.
-------
Being significantly younger than your sisters, you were the true baby of the family, and were treated as such. You were already a pretty sensitive person, and the overprotective tendencies of the entire family only increased this. You were quite different from both your sisters. Alba was an extrovert, always talking, always laughing, never thinking too hard about anything. Alexia was quieter in public, but always loud at home in an attempt to match Alba’s energy. The competitive gene only seemed to skip you, and you hated conflict. Any type of it. You didn’t like yelling, you didn’t like arguments, and you couldn’t stand when people were mad at you.
It made sense then, that you’d always been the mitigator between your sisters. They were always fighting growing up, and it took a very small you to break up the fights that the teenage versions of them would get into, often shoving your small body in between theirs and singing a song so loudly they had no choice but to stop arguing. If the singing didn’t work, then you’d cry, and that always worked.
As you got older, your role changed slightly. You were still the mitigator, but more because you were logical and smart and both of them could normally trust you to be objective. You didn’t really enjoy it, but you hated it more when they weren’t speaking to each other, so you did what you could to resolve their fights easily.
All of this considered, you were not surprised to catch yourself in an argument between them yet again. This one wasn’t super similar to the others, though, in that it was much more emotionally charged. Both Alexia and Alba seemed angrier at each other than normal, and you didn’t know why. Still, you tried to fix it, as best you could.
-------
“I cannot believe you, Alba.” Alexia sighed, shaking her head at her other sister.
“Don’t try to guilt trip me, Ale, this isn’t my fault. I told you before there was a chance I’d have to go to this conference.” Alba shot back.
“You don’t have to go, you are choosing to go. So you can hook up with that coworker you're seeing.”
Alba flushed red with anger.
“Let’s calm down, guys,” you began, shifting uncomfortably in your seat in the corner of the sectional. Neither girl paid you any mind.
“I am going for work, Alexia, I wouldn’t sleep with anyone at a work conference.”
“Oh, yes of course, you’re so above that. You are notorious for not hooking up with people in inappropriate situations Alba, how could I forget. It was only 4 of my teammates you slept with? And how many of my other friends?”
“You are such a-”
“Stop.” You cut in. “Alexia, that was mean. Alba, she’s just disappointed because she was looking forward to spending time with everyone.” You cut in, trying to cool the rising temperature of the room.
“No, I am disappointed because we made a commitment to do this for Mami and now she’s backing out. Like always.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” Alba scoffed.
“The last trip to Ibiza. Mother’s day last year. My 25th birthday,” Alexia began to list, counting the events off on her fingers rather condescending.
“Guys, please calm down.” You attempted.
“Will you ever get over me missing your 25th birthday? Or are you going to have it engraved on your tombstone? ‘My sister missed my birthday once and I never shut up about it.’” Alba yelled, getting to her feet and walking closer to where Alexia was sitting at the kitchen counter.
When Alexia rose to meet her, you stood nervously, too, moving a bit closer. “Why don’t we all stay seated?” You tried.
Both of them continued to ignore you, as if you weren’t even there. “That is not the point, Alba.”
“No, Ale, the point is that only your career is important. Everyone has to drop everything for football, but what I do doesn’t matter, and I have to bend over backwards to make things work with your insane schedule. The world doesn’t revolve around you, Alexia.”
“Oh my god, Alba. You are such a bitch.” Alexia sighed, rolling her eyes in a way she knew would make the younger girl furious.
“You are the bitch, Alexia. A selfish, bossy, mean bitch,” Alba yelled, crossing her arms and taking a step closer to the older girl.
“Alba, I swear to god,” Alexia threw back, the volume of her voice making you flinch. You stepped in between them, forcing them to both back up a bit.
“Please stop shouting.” You pleaded, looking between them. Both of them turned to you, annoyed.
“Go somewhere else if it’s bothering you, pequeña! Adults argue. Grow up.” Alexia yelled, sending a glare your way. You stopped back, blinking away tears, looking incredibly hurt. Alexia sighed. “Sorry, nena, I didn’t mean-”
It was too late, though, you were pushing past her towards the door of her house. “No, whatever. I’ll go. Solve your argument by yourselves for once.” You snapped.
“Nice job, Ale, you made the el bebe cry.” Alba said mockingly.
“Shut your mouth, Alba. Pequeña, come back,” Alexia called, but the door was already slamming shut behind you.
You wiped at your eyes furiously, getting into your car. You’d always hated how sensitive you were, how anyone raising their voice at you made you cry. You couldn’t argue, couldn’t disagree without dissolving into tears. Normally, angry tears. You’d always been like this, and your sisters often made fun of it, but were aware of the fact that you hated yelling, and tried to avoid doing so. Even when they were fighting with each other. Today got too out of control, though, both of them taking this specific issue very seriously.
They’d have to figure it out themselves, this time. You were done with this. They knew how you felt about conflict, and yet they always put you in the middle. It was exhausting and hurtful being caught in between them. They were adults, they could solve this argument.
You and Eli didn’t live far from Alexia, and you reached home before you were really ready to. You needed to erase all evidence of your tears from your face before heading inside, because Eli could not know about this. You and your sisters did not tell on each other, for one thing. For another, there was a possibility the trip in question could be rescheduled and you didn’t want to ruin the surprise.
You checked your face in the mirror, took a deep breath, denied Alexia’s phone call, and headed inside, prepared to pretend that nothing was wrong.
------
You got past your mother with very few questions asked, as she was distracted reading over Alexia’s new Nike contracts. Your sister still had Eli read all her contracts, a habit you and Alba teased her about often.
Eli did come knocking, though, only a few hours later, while you were in your room getting some homework done. “Nena?” She called from the hallway, not hearing a response to her knock.
Still, you didn’t say anything, so she pushed the door open, only to find you asleep at your desk, your head resting on a pile of photographs, your computer opened up to photoshop. A black and white photo of your sister at training was pulled up, and Eli quickly averted her eyes, knowing very well she wasn’t supposed to see this particular assignment until you were done.
“Mija,” Eli said, covering her eyes as she heard you stir. “Go to bed, it’s late, and you are exhausted.”
“Do not look, Mami!” You cried, sitting up completely and quickly flipping everything over and shutting your computer.
“I’m not!” Eli replied, laughing at how secretive you were about these photos.
“Okay, everything is away.” You said, standing to give your mother a hug before getting into bed. She squeezed you tight, as she always did, kissing your cheek before letting go.
“Goodnight,” she said, giving you a kind smile.
“Goodnight mami,” you replied, knowing she was smiling because she knew you were about to get back on your computer as soon as she left the room.
“Oh, do you know why your sister’s are fighting? I texted the groupchat with them, and they both replied to me separately.” Eli asked with an eye roll, quite used to your sisters’ antics.
“Something dumb, probably.” You said with an unconvincing laugh. Your mother gave you a weird look, like she didn't believe you, but didn’t push it.
As soon as she was out of the room, you were, in fact, back on your computer, finishing up the final touches on a photo of Alexia. You were really too excited to be preoccupied with your sisters at the moment. You were in school studying photography, and after a recent exhibition at your school, a gallery in Barcelona had reached out and asked you to shoot a series for them to display. They’d given you full creative control, which was an insane amount of trust to put into a 20 year old, and you were determined not to mess it up.
If that meant staying up late making sure every photo was perfect in the next couple days, so be it. You were proud of this work, and that wasn’t really a common feeling for you. You’d grown up in the shadow of your two sisters. Alexia was the best female footballer in the world, and Alba was… Alba. Everyone loved her. Nothing you ever did seemed to really make anyone pay attention, except for your Mami. Eli had always been careful to celebrate your and Alba’s accomplishments, like she celebrated Alexia’s, even if they weren’t of the same magnitude. Your sisters were a bit better than the rest of your family and friends, paying attention to what you did, but it always felt a bit like your mother was making them do so.
This was your chance to do something impressive of your own. Something that everyone could understand, everyone could be impressed by. It was an opportunity you were not about to waste. You didn’t realize the potential that other people had, though, to ruin it for you.
------
The next few days were busy. When you weren’t working on your photos, making sure they were perfectly edited and printed properly, you were worrying about what people would think about them. Or you were trying to pick the perfect outfit for Saturday evening, the opening of the gallery. There wasn’t a ton of time for you to respond to Alexia’s repetitive apologies, or to Alba’s pleading for you to be on her side. It was annoying, really, that during such an important and stressful week, they couldn’t leave you out of their argument.
You finally had enough on Friday, pulling up the groupchat with both of them in it, and sending a rather harsh message. It wasn’t like you to be harsh and snap at them, and you were hoping they would get the message that they’d upset you, and you wanted to be left out of this.
If one of you texts me one more time about this idiotic fight, I am going to tell Mami that it was you two who dented her car, not the neighbor backing into it. I am so tired of being pulled into the middle of this. Both of you apologize to each other for being mean, and get over it.
You hoped that would be the end of it. When your phone buzzed a few minutes later, though, you knew that had been a naive hope.
Alexia had responded first.
It should not be hard to pick a side when I am right, nena.
Alba responded after that.
You always let Alexia get away with things you’d yell at me about. You can both apologize to me when you are ready.
You weren’t really sure how Alba had decided that you’d sided with Alexia, but you certainly were not going to be apologizing to her anytime soon. You left them both on read, figuring they’d make up before the gallery opening tomorrow night.
-------
You were up pretty much the entire night before the gallery. This time, not because anything needed to get done, but because you were nervous. You were thinking about everything that could possibly go wrong. By the time morning rolled around, you slept for maybe a couple hours, and created a decisive list of every bad thing that could happen today.
You actually hadn’t thought of everything, but you wouldn’t know that until later.
You’d passed out just as the sun had started to rise, and Eli came in to wake you up only a few hours later.
“Nena, despierta,” she said softly, setting down a mug of coffee on your nightstand and shaking your shoulder.
You bolted upright in bed, and looked around frantically, startling your mother. “Am I late?!” You gasped, moving to get out of your bed as fast as possible.
“No, no, you aren’t late. It is only 11. Relax, mija, everything is okay.” Eli soothed, gently pushing you back down onto the bed.
You let out a relieved sigh, rubbing at your face with your hands. “Sorry.”
“Did you sleep at all?” Eli asked with a disapproving look.
“Not much. I tried, I swear, I just couldn’t turn my brain off.”
Your mother patted your cheek reassuringly. “You’re almost done, nena. It’s all going to go perfectly.”
You nodded, trying to believe her words. You just had this weird, nagging feeling that something was going to go wrong. There wasn’t time to focus  on this feeling, though, no matter how much you wanted to. There was simply too much to be done. Accepting the hug your mother offered, you got up, ready to prepare yourself for the long day ahead.
-------
You didn’t really think anything of it when you didn’t see either of your sisters right away. You were busy greeting other people, family and friends. Some of Alexia’s teammates had made it, and you spent some time taking in the awestruck expression on Mapi’s face when she saw the singular photo of her included.
That was the best part of the whole thing, you decided. Getting to see everyone’s reactions to seeing themselves up on the wall.
The theme was people you loved, in their happy place. The project was joyful and fun, radiating happiness. Looking at the photos made you smile, and you were glad to see that everyone seemed to have the same reaction as they took their time looking at each image.
You had Mapi giggling at something Ingrid had said, a candid taken after a Barça game. Ingrid was smiling back at her, like making her girlfriend laugh was the only thing she wanted to do for the rest of her life.
You had your Mami, sitting in the stands of one of Alexia’s games, looking on with pride all over her face. You had her pinching Alba’s cheek, a fond smile on her face as your sister said something that was, no doubt, ridiculous.
You had your aunts and your uncles around the dinner table, all laughing hysterically.
You had your friends at the beach, all lounging and staring out into the ocean, looking peaceful.
You had your best friend sitting in the driver's seat of her car, singing along passionately to her favorite song.
More than anyone else, though, you had your sisters.
Alexia preparing to take a penalty, determined. Celebrating with her teammates after a goal. Cheekily blowing a kiss to Olga in the stands. Smiling proudly at Vicki after an impressive goal. Proudly wearing the captain’s armband in front of a completely sold out stadium. Leaned against Olga on the couch after a movie night, out cold. She was completely peaceful, with Olga looking down at her adoringly.
You had Alba at the school where she taught. Candids of her face, when one of her students got the answer right, or made her laugh. With her dog, holding him up at the aquarium, eye level with one of the dolphins. You had her watching Alexia play, too, a grin on her face that you were sure she was unaware of. Your favorite of Alba was a photo you’d taken in your Mami’s kitchen, while she’d been baking. Alba was sneaking a taste of the cake batter, and you’d captured her mid-wink, giving the camera a smile while Eli’s back was turned to her.
They hadn’t seen any of these photos; you’d almost gone crazy not showing them, and not giving in to them when they begged to see.
 You’d finally managed to break away from a crowd of your friends, having a moment to yourself, when you realized that you still hadn’t seen your sisters yet. Ale’s teammates were here. Some of Alba’s friends were here. The whole family was here. You checked your watch, a frown on your face, seeing that they were both already over a half hour late, which was unlike both of them. It was only when you saw Olga looking up at one of the photos she was pictured in, all by herself, that you really got a sinking feeling in your stomach. She was talking to Irene when you walked over and interrupted, gently pulling Olga away from the conversation.
“Where is Ale? Is she coming late?” You asked, confused by the sad look on Olga’s face.
“No, nena, I’m sorry. She didn’t want to see Alba, so she decided not to come. I tried to convince her to, but she didn’t listen.” Olga said delicately. You looked like you’d been hit across the face, honestly, and Olga wanted nothing more than to march home and drag Alexia over here, but she knew better to try to convince the blonde to do something she had decided she wouldn’t. “She said she texted you?”
You pulled your phone out, taking a deep breath when you saw almost identical texts from both of your sisters.
Can’t make it tonight. I’ll come see it another time. Good luck!
Sorry, hermanita, I can’t come tonight. Love you.
You had been so excited for them to see their pictures. There was a little note up on the wall, too, a statement thanking everyone for coming. In it, you mentioned being excited to allow your sisters to finally see the photos, as they’d been begging to for a while now. And they hadn’t come.
A wave of embarrassment washed over you, your cheeks flushing red. You were angry, too, but you blinked your tears back, looking up at Olga and trying to look more put together than you felt.
“No Alba either.” You said, your voice cracking slightly.
“Oh, nena, I am so sorry.” Olga whispered, pulling you into a tight hug. It was too soft, and too comforting. You pulled away rapidly, shaking your head.
“It’s fine. I don’t care.” You said, cutting the brunette off before she could say anything else. “I have to go talk to someone, thank you for coming, Olga.”
You rushed away from your sister’s girlfriend, focusing on taking deep breaths. You couldn’t be sad, not right now. So many people had come here to celebrate you and your work, and you weren’t going to ruin it. You could be upset later. It was almost excruciating, pretending that you weren’t upset that your sisters hadn't come, but you managed it. You kept up a pretty good façade for the rest of the evening, even when you saw Olga speaking in hushed voices to Irene and Mapi, even when everyone kept asking where Ale and Alba were. You held it together. Because you, unlike them, could pretend that nothing was wrong for the sake of others.
-------
Your mother knew you better than anyone. You should have been thrilled, ecstatic. Everything had gone so well. Your photos had been a hit, the owners of the gallery had been thrilled. She realized neither of her other daughters had shown up, but she assumed they had talked that through with you. She wasn’t sure what was wrong with you, but when you declined going out with some of your friends as the night came to an end, Eli knew something wasn’t right.
She had every intention of letting you come to her, but you weren’t talking. As everyone began to file out of the gallery, saying their final goodbyes, Eli overheard you tell your friends you were going to go home because you were tired. You didn't say a single word to her aside from telling her that you’d see her at home, before you practically fled the building, heading for your car. She didn’t couldn’t imagine what was wrong, never expecting her daughters to have done what they did. Eli didn’t even think of them being a possible reason as to why you were upset. Mapi pulled her aside, though, before she could go after you, an infuriated look on her face.
“Do you know what your daughters have done?” She asked quietly.
Eli frowned. “No. What have they done?”
Mapi shook her head. “They both bailed on tonight over text to pequeña. They are in some stupid fight that they’ve put her in the middle of, and they didn’t want to see each other, so they didn’t come.”
Suddenly, Eli was quite furious at her eldest daughters. There would be hell to pay, she’d make sure of it. How could they be so selfish, and ruin your night like this? You’d been almost beside yourself for weeks about this night, and she knew the people you wanted to impress most were your sisters. And they hadn’t come. Before she yelled at them, though, she needed to go home to you, because she was very sure that you weren’t okay. Your odd behavior made sense, now, and Eli’s heart ached at the thought of you driving all by yourself while you were so upset.
“I will deal with them.” Eli said quietly. “Thank you for telling me, María, and for coming. It meant a lot to her.”
Mapi smiled sympathetically. “Of course. Let me know if you need help kicking some Putellas ass.”
Eli chuckled. “I will.”
She set off to her car after that, ignoring Alexia’s numerous phone calls. Likely, Olga had arrived home and laid into her for not coming, and Alexia was looking to be let off the hook from her Mami that she hadn’t messed up that badly. Eli wouldn’t be doing that.
-------
You didn’t make it far into the house. In your new dress, one that was reminiscent of the dress Alexia had worn to win her first balon d’or, you’d collapsed onto the couch, harsh sobs ripping their way out of your chest. You cried until your makeup ran and your chest hurt. Until your Mami arrived home, rushing through the door, her heart breaking when she saw the state you were in. Eli was by your side instantly, pulling you into her arms. It was rare that a hug from your mother didn’t make you feel better, but this was the case today. You weren’t really sure that anything would help, but you still buried yourself into your Mami’s arms, wishing more than anything that she could fix this for you.
“They didn’t come, Mami,” you sobbed.
“I know, mija, I am so sorry.”
“Am I not more important than their stupid fight?” You asked, looking up at your mother with a devastated expression on your face. “I was so excited for them to see, I just wanted them to be proud of me.”
Eli felt anger fill her at a level she’d never quite felt before. “I am proud of you, cariño, so proud of you. It’s all going to be okay, I promise. Everything is going to be fine.” She soothed, running her hand through your hair, shushing you softly. Her fury would have to wait, until you stopped crying. Eli would always put you first when you needed it, even if your sisters didn’t.
-------
It was late by the time you’d stopped crying and headed up to bed. With a soft goodnight to your Mami, you’d slumped upstairs, barely changing into your pajamas before you collapsed into your bed, absolutely exhausted. Being disappointed was tiring, apparently. And you were more disappointed than you’d ever been in your life.
Downstairs, Eli waited until she heard your door shut before she pulled her phone out, returning one of the 15 missed calls from her eldest daughter. Alexia picked up quickly, her voice dripping with guilt.
“Mami, I-”
“No. Do not try to explain yourself. You and Alba have done a terrible thing, Alexia. I am not sure how you will make it up to your sister, but you will. You will figure out how to fix it, you will apologize, you will mean it.”
“Sí, Mami.” Alexia said, her voice small like when she used to get scolded for kicking the football in the house or holding the tv remote high out of her sisters’ reach.
“I am so disappointed, Alexia. In you and Alba both.”
“I know, Mami.” Alexia replied, blinking hard to fight off her tears. “I’ll fix it, Al and I will fix it.”
“You will. Goodnight, Alexia. I love you.” Eli was furious, but she’d always say it, always make sure her daughters knew how loved they were.
“I love you too Mami,” the blonde choked out, feeling worse about this than she’d ever felt about anything in her entire life.
Eli called Alba next, who was significantly more clueless about the situation. Neither had known the other wasn’t going, but it was beyond your mother how either of her daughters could have underestimated how important to you this night was. Alba was in tears, like Alexia, by the end of the call, also promising her mother she’d fix it.
Eli knew the level of guilt Alexia and Alba must have been feeling at the moment, considering how protective they were of you. They never wanted you to be hurt, but you were. And they were the reason why. As she checked on you, ensuring you were asleep, she knew that her older daughters would go to the ends of the earth to make this up to you.
--------
Alba was sitting on her couch, willing herself to be the bigger person and pick up the phone to call Alexia, when she heard a knock at the door. The brunette knew who was there before she pulled it open, not flinching when her older sister was standing on her front porch.
Alexia had a drink carrier in one hand, and two bags in the other, giving Alba an unreadable look. “Can I come in?”
Alba nodded, stepping aside to let her sister in. The blonde headed for the living room, setting the coffees down, and grabbing hers out of the holder. Alba grabbed the other, noting that it was her favorite coffee, and her favorite breakfast pastry, from her favorite bakery. A bakery Alexia didn’t particularly like, but had clearly stopped at just for Alba.
It was a peace offering. One that Alba took, grabbing the coffee and the pastry, sitting on the couch next to her sister in a much less tense silence. They made up in the way only sister’s could, with no words necessary for either of them to know that the other was sorry for what had been said.
“We fucked up.” Alexia said after a minute, glancing at her sister.
“We really did.” Alba replied.
“We have to fix it.” Alexia declared.
“We really do.” Alba agreed.
“Are you going to keep agreeing with me, or are you going to come up with a solution here?”
“As the one who started the fight that led to us letting our sister down, I think it should be you who solves the problem, Alexia.” Alba retorted, a smirk on her face.
Her sister shook her head, shoving the brunette’s shoulder lightly. “You are supposed to be the smart one, hermana. Get thinking.”
“New car?”
“New house?”
“Can we buy her a country?”
They broke into laughter, the tension completely gone from the room, before they really got brainstorming. They were a good team when they weren’t fighting, and it wasn’t long before they’d come up with something that they hoped would make up for their horrible behavior.
-------
The minute you saw Alexia’s car pull into the driveway from your spot on the couch, you were standing up, prepared to flee the room. You’d known this would happen at some point today, but you weren’t ready to see them. You felt so humiliated and so neglected, you were sure that seeing them would have you in tears, and you didn’t really want to show that emotion in front of them. Not now, not when they were the reason you were so upset.
You knew how important family was to your mother, though, and you knew that if she told you to stay and talk to them, you would. Looking at her cautiously, you took in the wary expression on her face.
“Do you want to hear them out, mija?” Eli asked gently.
“No. I don’t want to see them right now. Please don’t make me.” You begged.
“I won’t make you do anything. Go upstairs, I’ll tell you when they’re gone.” Eli sighed, and with her permission, you practically sprinted up the stairs to your room, closing and locking the door behind you.
Your older sisters walked through the doors to the house like they were afraid of what awaited them inside, and it seems that they should have been. Eli stood from her chair, walking over to them, looking unimpressed at the large present in Alexia’s hands.
“Hola Mami,” Alba greeted softly. They both wanted to make this up to you, of course, but they also hated when their mother was mad at them.
“I do not think that buying her a present is going to fix this.” Eli said pointedly. Alexia and Alba exchanged nervous glances, relaxing slightly when Eli allowed them further into the house. “What is it?”
“It’s the new camera. The brand new canon model that she wanted, with all the extra lenses and storage and stuff.” Alexia said, feeling less and less confident about how she and Alba had chosen to go about this.
“And you think that is enough?” Eli asked bluntly.
“It’s a start.” Alba said, a bit defensively. “We know we messed up, Mami, and we missed the opening night but we can go see it today. Are you not being a little dramatic about this?”
Alexia shot her younger sister a look, knowing exactly how hurt you were, because Olga had returned home from the gallery and told her.
“You did not see her last night. When she realized you weren’t coming? She completely shut down. She talked to everyone she needed to, but I did not see her smile the rest of the night. She rushed out of the building just as the evening ended, and by the time I got home, she was sitting on the couch, sobbing. It was supposed to be her night, and you ruined it.” Eli snapped.
Alexia and Alba both looked appropriately ashamed, their heads dropping, gazes pointed at the floor in an almost identical fashion. They felt guilty, obviously, but Eli wasn’t quite sure they understood that it wasn’t just about them missing your event. It was so much more than that.
“She asked me why she is not more important to both of you than an argument. I do not want to spoil the gallery, but I do not think you understand how embarrassing it was for her to have countless photos of you two up on the wall, when you did not even come.”
Both her daughters’ heads snapped up at this. “Of us?” Alba asked. “The project was of us?”
“It was about her loved ones. You two were featured more than anyone else. She was so excited to see your reactions to the photos.” Eli continued, only making them feel worse.
“Please, Mami, I cannot hear anymore.” Alexia said softly, her heart aching at the thought of how upset you must be at the moment. Every detail that her mother added made it worse. She wasn’t sure she’d ever done anything like this to you before, and the thought that you might not forgive her was filling her with anxiety.
“No, you will hear all of it.” Eli said, shaking her head. “She said to me, ‘I was so excited for them to see, I just wanted them to be proud of me.’”
“We are proud of her, she has to know that.” Alba cut in desperately. Her mother just shook her head.
“She does not. Nothing she ever does feels very important to either of you, because it is always something you have done before. This was something that was her own, and she just wanted to share it with you. Everything your sister does is so that you two will be proud of her, and pay attention to her.”
At this, Alexia stood up from the couch, walking over to the window and putting her face in her hands. Her shoulders shook with silent cries, and neither her mother or her sister were very surprised at the emotional outburst. Alexia was always emotional when it came to you; she remembered the day you’d been born, every milestone in your life. You were your very tough sister’s soft spot.
“Do you think we can fix it?” Alba asked quietly, terrified of her mother’s answer.
With a deep sigh, Eli nodded her head. Alexia turned around hopefully, hanging on to Eli’s every word. “Your baby sister has always been more forgiving than both of you. She is hurt, but she will forgive you. She loves you both too much not to.”
Every word Eli said felt like a bullet to the chest to both of your sisters, something your mother was well aware of. She wasn’t going to sugar coat this. It was silent in the room for several minutes, every member of the family lost in thought. Alexia looked furious with herself, Alba looked like she was close to tears, and Eli just looked disappointed. She’d always trusted your sisters to take care of you when she couldn’t, but she wasn’t so sure she had that confidence in them anymore.
“I have an idea.” Alexia said finally, looking between her mother and her sister hesitantly. They both agreed to what she proposed, though, and it wasn’t long before Eli had pulled out some paper and pens for her daughters. They both sat on the floor around the coffee table and got writing. It was reminiscent of when they’d do their homework in the same spot years ago, sitting on the floor so they could play with you while they finished their assignments.
Now, though, you were painfully absent from the scene in front of your mother, and Eli could only hope that this would work.

Alexia and Alba agreed that only one of them would go upstairs, give you the two pieces of paper, and let you be for the evening. Alexia was desperate to see you, while Alba wasn’t sure she could do so without crying, and she didn’t particularly want to put that on you at the moment. You hated seeing your sisters upset, and she didn’t want to inadvertently guilt you into forgiving her before you were ready. So, Alexia made her way upstairs, agreeing to Eli’s warnings to leave you alone if you wouldn’t let her in.
Her knock on your door was uncharacteristically gentle, and her voice was almost shaky as she announced herself.
“Nena? Can I come in for a minute?”
Taking a deep breath, you opened the door, feeling rather satisfied to see the guilt all over her face.
Alexia stepped into the room, looking so nervous and so unlike herself. She was fidgeting with two pieces of paper in her hands, barely able to bring herself to look you in the eye. “I am so sorry, hermanita. More sorry than I can put into words.” She didn't seem to know what else to say, and you rolled your eyes.
“Do you think that is enough?” You asked.
Alexia shook her head rapidly. “No, I know it isn’t. Alba and I are going to fix this, nena, I promise. Whatever we have to do, whatever it takes. We will make this up to you. There is nothing more important to us than you.”
Your eldest sister could tell you didn’t believe her, the way you looked away from her was a dead giveaway.
“I know you are upset, and that is okay. I just… can I give you a hug, nena? You can still be mad at me and everything. I’d just really like an hermanita hug.” Alexia said vulnerably, tears clouding her vision. She had underestimated how painful it would be to see you so upset with her, but her chest truly ached as she took in the betrayal and disappointment on your face. A few tears fell from her eyes, and it was this bit of emotion that had you nodding your head, stepping forward as Alexia wrapped her arms around you almost painfully tight.
It made you feel better, even though it probably shouldn’t have. Your sister’s hugs always felt warm and safe, and today was no exception. Even though she’d hurt you. It was still Alexia, and she was a hard person to stay mad at. Still, you pulled away before you wanted to, and the blonde cleared her throat, holding out the pieces of paper for you.
“From me and Alba. We will be downstairs, if you want to talk.” Your sister opened and closed her mouth a few times, before shaking her head, mustering a weak smile, and leaving the room. She shut the door behind her, something she never did, always insisting on leaving it open just to bother you.
You opened your sisters’ letters, not quite sure what you would be reading. You weren’t quite angry anymore, just sad. You were never one to hold a grudge, but you weren’t sure how they were going to be able to make this stop hurting.
You underestimate, however, how well your sisters knew you, and combined with the information they had from Eli, they knew just what to say. You read both the letters a few times, tears streaming down your face for what felt like the 12th time that day. This time, though, they were good tears.
Both letters were similar, but very… specific to each of your sisters.
Alexia’s was practically a bullet pointed list, in her messy, big handwriting. There was a mark on the page that looked suspiciously like a teardrop, and Alexia talked about her emotions in the letter the way she always did in real life; saying as little as possible, while still somehow saying a whole lot.
Alba’s was a real letter, paragraph after paragraph of neat writing, beautifully articulating what she wanted to say to you. It was always a bit surprising to remember how perceptive Alba was. She was a forgetful person, but not when it came to the things that mattered. This was clear in the letter, as she listed small details out that you hadn’t thought she’d noticed.
Both of the letters were an apology. An apology, and a deep dive into how proud of you Alexia and Alba were. They apologized for not making it clear, before going back to when you were a baby, and they watched you walk for the first time. Through the years, they had overlapping and different memories of things you’d done that made them swell with pride. There were things you remembered, and things you didn’t, but they made you feel special all the same. Alexia and Alba did pay attention, that much was clear. Even if they weren’t always the best at showing it, they paid attention to you.
It did more than a verbal apology could have ever done. It was something tangible, kind, warm and loving. It made you feel loved, and seen. It made you feel like you mattered. You weren’t Alexia, and you weren’t Alba, but you were you, and they felt that to be something much more special.
You tried to hold out a bit longer, you really did, but you were putting the letters down and rushing downstairs before you could really stop yourself.
You passed the kitchen on the way to the living room, where your Mami was preparing dinner, a small, relieved smile on her face. Wishing you had something funny and unbothered to say, you walked into the room, seeing your sisters sitting on the couch, looking pathetically distraught.
“Hola.” You said softly, feeling indescribably happy when both of their faces lit up at the sight of you, and you quickly crossed the room, wedging yourself in between them. They made room for you, as they always did, allowing you to fit easily into your spot squished with Alexia on one side, and Alba on the other.
They each wrapped an arm around you, and both tried to pull you in opposite directions. It was ironic, the way they used you to play a silly game of tug of war. This time, however, they stopped pulling when they realized neither of them would win. Instead, they both wrapped you into a very awkward and suffocating hug, arms wrapped around you from seemingly every direction.
“I love you, nena.” Alexia whispered, pressing a kiss to the side of your head.
Alba did the same to your cheek. “I am so sorry, hermanita, and I love you so much,” she whispered.
“I know.” You said softly. “I forgive you.”
And if it had been either of them in your position, it would have taken a lot more. You were the forgiving sister, though, and you’d really just needed proof that your sisters thought that you were as important as you felt them to be.
When Eli came in the room a few minutes later, it was to see the three of you in a rather familiar position; you in the middle, each of your sisters holding on to as much of you as they could, completely content. They’d always like to hold you like that, starting when you were a baby. Alexia would carefully put you on the couch in between them, and put a movie on. They would take turns telling you all the important details your brain was far too small to comprehend, but you didn’t squirm, and you didn’t fuss. You would stay plopped right in between them, one of each of their fingers gripped tight in your hands.
It was a lot different now, because you were all bigger. It looked like an uncomfortable pile of limbs on the couch, but Eli knew you were all as comfortable as you’d ever get.
-------
Neither of your sisters seemed very willing to let you out of their sight anytime soon, which you were sure would grow annoying very fast. For now, though, you enjoyed the attention, especially when Alexia pushed the wrapped box that had been sitting on the table into your hands.
And, you’d already forgiven them before you’d seen the camera they’d bought you, one that you’d been desperately wanting for a while. If you hadn’t forgiven them, though, you would have now. You could be bought, and your sisters were well aware of it. As was your Mami. She rolled her eyes as you stared in awe at the camera, as Alexia and Alba looked on proudly, sharing a discreet fist bump. Personally, Eli thought you’d let them off kind of easy, but she shouldn’t have underestimated you. You were a youngest child, and you knew how to get what you wanted.
“Can we go see your photos after dinner?” Alba asked, not even getting a glance from you, your attention completely zeroed in on the camera in your hands.
“Nope.” You replied. Alexia and Alba looked uneasily at each other, and then at their Mami for guidance, before you spoke again. “Alexia, you are going to clean my room. And Alba, you are going to make me those cookies I like. We can go see the gallery tomorrow.”
Your face was smug, and your mother stifled a laugh as your sisters looked disgruntled at each other. Begrudgingly, though, they both nodded.
“Anything for the princess.” Alexia mumbled, and Alba snickered quietly.
“What was that?” You asked, turning your attention to your sisters. They looked at you in defiance, smirks on both of their faces, not willing to let you completely walk all over them, even if they deserved it.
“You heard me.” Alexia teased. “The baby princess always gets her way.”
“Really, Ale?” You asked calmly, before turning to Eli, your new camera briefly forgotten on the table in front of you. “Mami, do you have any plans in two weekends? I was thinking we could take a trip just the two of-”
Alexia cut you off by rather aggressively throwing herself at you, covering your mouth with her hand. “NO HERMANITA!” The blonde shouted. “Oh, gross, nena, really?” She groaned, pulling her hand away when you licked it. You smiled triumphantly, managing to push away from her a bit.
“You are not a princess, nena. Just a little baby.” Alba chimed in, reaching over from her chair to pinch your cheek in one hand. “Now keep quiet before you ruin the surprise and give Ale a stroke.”
Your mother shook her head, taking pity on her eldest daughter, who looked prepared to explode at the thought of the surprise being ruined. “Do you think I do not know you were planning a trip for the four of us, Alexia? Honey, you asked me several times if I was free that weekend, and reminded me not to make any plans then either. You also asked me for hotel recommendations, and pretended it was for you and Olga. You are a bad liar, mija. I have known for weeks.” Eli laughed.
Alexia frowned, shoving you and Alba both away from her as you both collapsed into giggles, despite the fact that this was entirely her fault, and you and Alba were blameless. She knew there was teasing coming her way, but the smile on your face was well worth it. Order had been restored, and both of your sisters had made promises to themselves, and to each other, to not let their arguments hurt you anymore. You were just happy to have them both there, at home. All four of you together, how it was supposed to be.
-------
it will really always be funny to me that my sister and i do not say the words "i'm sorry" to each other. like we'd both rather die than apologize. she could hit me with her car and i wouldn't want her to apologize because... ew. anyway sometimes having a sister is cool and sometimes its not but i love mine.
everyone applaud me for not splitting this into two parts. seriously i am astounded at myself right now.
hope you all like it :) give me all your thoughts.

I had a cute idea I wanted to share because I love the way you write!! Leah gets all blushy and a bit flustered by the gaze. Just a cute fluffy one x

lock down II l.williamson
"-and then i've got another over zoom with sky sports at three and i should be done for the day." your girlfriend sighed, already tired by her day before it had even begun.
"no rest for the wicked huh?" you hummed, still laid down in bed as the blonde restlessly paced back and forth across the room. "god then i've gotta fit in our gym program too! do you mind if we do it tonight? i know we're not supposed to but that at least gives me a few hours in between." leah groaned in realization.
"leah breath! of course i don't mind babe, its more enjoyable when we do the program together anyway. i'm more than sure we can push it back a few hours and it shouldn't affect the stats too much." you assured her gently as the blonde nodded.
"so much for lock down! everyone's watching bloody netflix and making tiktoks but noo im memorizing scripts and listening to the same witty one liner over and over about how hard it must be to 'work from home' as a footballer." leah mocked, falling backwards onto the bed with a huff.
"but is it?" you questioned as she sat up slightly and turned her head to be able to see you. "is it what?" leah asked with a confused frown. "is it hard to work from home as a footballer?" you questioned with a frown of your own.
one which quickly turned into a grin as your girlfriend lunged at you, ducking your head under the covers as her bony fingers poked and prodded at you, your safety blanket ripped away as the blonde hovered over you.
"you think you're so fucking funny." leah rolled her eyes as your grin grew. "well one of us has to have a sense of humor in this relationship baby, you're not called captain grumpy for nothing." you teased, tapping your lips expectantly.
"cheeky girl." leah tutted but none the less gave into your request, pressing her lips to yours as your hands moved to tangle in her hair, deepening the kiss as she settled on top of you.
but no sooner did the taller girl slip her tongue into your mouth, hands gliding slowly up your bare stomach, did her alarm go off.
"why!" leah pulled away and groaned moodily, flopping down and burying her face in your neck making you chuckle and gently scratch your nails against her scalp as you tapped snooze.
"babe this isn't making me anymore inclined to get up." your girlfriend mumbled against your skin making you smile. "what if i promise to make breakfast and have it ready for when your first interviews done?" you whispered into her hair, squirming as the girl sighed.
"might be working a little." leah admitted making you laugh and press a kiss to her cheek. "mm and what if i make your favorite breakfast?" you hummed, still rhythmically scratching at her scalp.
"the williamson special?" she questioned, the words muffled into your neck but you laughed again. "the williamson special. an omelette with ham, cheese and not a single spec of colour, flavour or vegetables." you teased, squealing as she pinched your hip but pulled her head up.
"you promised not to mock my eating habits." the older girl frowned with a pout that you quickly kissed away. "no i promised not to mock them last week, todays monday. brand new day of opportunity!" you grinned, pushing her hands away where they tickled at the sliver of skin where your shirt had rode up.
"first my speech impediment and now my diet. you really are a wicked awful woman!" leah sighed with a shake of her head as you scoffed.
"my love we've been over this. you don't have a speech impediment, you're just from milton keynes." you whispered against her lips, pulling away right before they could press against hers, pushing her off of you and moving to stand with a stretch.
"now my beloved MK, you're going the right way for the silent treatment missy." leah pointed at you with a glare as you oohed sarcastically. "tempting. is that a promise?" you winked, laughing as she lurched forward and grabbed the back of your top tugging you back down into bed.
"you are very lucky you're cute." your girlfriend tutted from above you, shaking her head. "and you're very lucky i'm so patient." you poked at her nose with an amused smile as leah gasped in mock offence, your girlfriend nothing if not the expert at annoying you.
"you wait for the third one and you won't have time to shower lee." you warned, pushing her fringe out of her face with a soft smile as she leaned over you to tap stop on the second alarm on her phone and looked down at you with a cheeky grin.
"in that case, wanna save some water?"
~
you were trying to concentrate on your own laptop, you really were.
in the spirit of having nothing better to do locked away in your home you'd signed up for an online accounting course, with leah already studying a much higher qualification in the same field she'd been a massive help.
but why would you waste your time looking at tax brackets and finance breakdowns when you could stare at your incredibly fit gorgeous girlfriend who was sat only a few metres away in your direct eyeline.
you smiled at how she threw and flailed her hands about as she spoke, always one to speak expressively and passionately as she was recounting a story from her childhood when she'd played on a boys team and was relentlessly pushed about for being 'just too good'.
it was one of the first things that had you falling deeply for the older girl, how passionate she was. not just about football but with anything she put her mind and heart to, including how fiercely she loved.
not just how she loved you, but how she loved her family, loved football, loved her friends, the girl could be a handful and a stubborn headache at times but nobody could deny that she was also one of the most sincere and loving human beings you'd ever met.
so with that in mind you sighed quietly, a dopey smile on your face as you pined over her like a lovesick puppy, something the pair of you were often teased about by your team mates but it just washed over you like water off a ducks back, both of you far too loved up in your little bubble to pay it any mind.
in fact without leah you were certain you'd have long lost your mind amid this pandemic, the blonde finding little ways every day to make you still feel so special or to have you smile or laugh, two things which rapidly became her favorite reward.
just yesterday she'd woken you up with breakfast in bed and a bunch of flowers just because.
granted she did order the breakfast from a local cafe which was still operating for delivery and you couldn't prove it but you were near certain that she'd stolen the flowers from some of your neighbors front yards on her morning walk.
regardless you were touched by the thoughtful gesture and showered her with sweet kisses as a thank you, even if leah did eat nearly all of your breakfast much to your amusement given it was hardly up to her usual bland unseasoned standards.
you leaned back a little more into the sofa and crossed your legs underneath you, balancing your laptop on a cushion on your lap, a soft smile plastered permanently into your features.
once or twice leah caught your eyes staring over the top of her own laptop, sending you a small grin or a subtle wink before her attention returned back to the interviewer.
you heard him say that the next game would be a drawing one, sliding your laptop away and hurrying to grab a notebook and pen, placing them beside leah who mouthed her thanks as you took a seat across from her at the dining table.
leah gave you a questioning look as you did so but you merely shrugged, gesturing for her to pay attention as she tuned back into the interview. you watched as she was told to draw her wembley stadium, competing against the interviewer.
you smiled as you took her in, the way her eyebrows furrowed in concentration, nostrils flaring in annoyance every now and then as she was unhappy with a stroke of her pen, a small puff of air exhaled from the corner of her mouth as the tip of her tongue pushed out the other side.
you took a photo of her and smiled, placing your phone back down and resting your chin on your hand. leah could feel your stare on her and as she revealed her drawing and you grinned as the tips of her ears and cheeks flushed red.
"stop!" she mouthed at you as you shook your head, still staring at her in admiration as her attention switched back to the interview. finally after what felt like hours of your gaze pinned to her leah was able to wrap it up, saying her goodbyes and clicking end call on the zoom, pushing her laptop closed.
"what?" you smiled innocently as the blonde sat back in her chair and shook her head at you. "you have a staring problem!" she accused with a point as you gasped and held a hand to your chest.
"i do not. i wasn't staring, i was admiring!" you clarified as leah hummed, her chair pushing back with a scrape. "cheeky." leah clicked her tongue as you followed after her to the kitchen, kissing her still slightly pink cheek with a smile as she grabbed a juice out from the fridge.
"leah!" you scoffed as you held your hand out for it to take a mouthful and she slapped her palm against yours with a wink.
last one, sorry babe." the blonde smirked as your mouth formed a small o. "those are mine!" you protested, rushing around the counter and trying to snatch it off her as she pushed you away effortlessly with one hand and downed the juice with the other.
"you are so unbel-" you started to tell her off as she exhaled happily and tossed the empty bottle into the recyling bin with a happy whoop as it landed. "no no wait, let me guess." her finger smushed against your lips silencing you as she stroked her chin as if deep in thought.
"unbelievably sexy?" silence. "no? okay. unbelievably charming?" silence again. "wrong again? mmm unbelievably intelligent?" more silence. "wow thought i had it there. unbelievably-" you wrenched her hand away at that and shook your head.
"unbelievably infuriating!" you rolled your eyes as leah smacked her forehead with a scoff. "that was my next guess!" she tutted with a shake of her head as you sighed, a small smile tugging at the corner of your mouth.
"hey hey don't get all stroppy. there's still three more in there i was only teasing." leah grabbed your waist and pulled your shorter form into her, a noise of surprise leaving your mouth as her hands hooked under your thighs and she hoisted you up to sit on the counter as she settled between your legs.
"how about the williamson special right now?" leah smiled, thumb tracing your bottom lip as you gave her a look of slight confusion. "you want another omelette?" you questioned as your girlfriend shook her head.
"no no baby girl, the real williamson special." leah rasped, hands toying with the waistband of your sweats as you caught onto what she was suggesting.
"mmm and whats that? my memory needs a jog." you hummed, a smile settling onto your own face as the girl leaned in, minty breath fanning your face as her lips were millimeters from yours.
"mind blowingly passionate sex with a guaranteed happy ending, and then-" your eyes fluttered closed as she moved to kiss at your neck, lips trailing from your jaw down to the column of your throat, biting softly before she moved to tug at the lobe of your ear.
"-then we eat potato smileys in bed naked and watch the golf." leah exhaled as you moaned playfully.
"god i love it when you talk dirty to me."

Hi! I would love to see an Alessia Russo x reader!williamson but r is also a footballer at arsenal. Maybe about their development from friends to lovers and Leah being a protective older sister when she finds out they're dating?! Thank youuuu
Keep it Between Us (Alessia Russo x Williamson!Reader)
Tumblr media
A/n: I feel like I’ve been writing a lot of the same type, so I tried to change it up a bit for this one.
“You’re sure they asked for me? You’re not getting me confused with Leah?” You frowned.
“Do you want to see the email yourself?” Keith laughed. Keith worked with the Arsenal community hub, and usually came in to let the team know when any of you were required to attend community activities. “They’ve reached out to a few clubs and asked for players under 23 who have played at senior club and international level” he explained.
“Oh, well Leah is too old for that” you laughed.
“I’m sending you over the details now” he said, banging on his laptop. He’d passed the details all to your emails and you had a quick scan through. You saw there were a few people from different clubs also going to be in attendance, a few of your England teammates from other clubs. It seemed like it was one player from each team in the league.
“Where is this on?” You asked, raising your eyebrows.
“Thankfully for you, it’s in London” he smiled.
You’d been playing for Arsenal for two years now and were really starting to come into yourself. Your form at club level had got you into the squad during the Summer for the Euro’s, and even got you a few minutes on the pitch throughout the tournament. Your sights were set this season on making sure you were in that World Cup squad, and fighting for a first team place.
The event was for primary schools, getting young girls interested in playing football. You were one of the last to arrive, and immediately a flock of young girls ran over to you, trying to hug you and grab at you.
“Guys, please, not again” a teacher pleaded, trying to shoo the group back to the centre. “Sorry, they are just very excited” she laughed.
“It’s okay, don’t worry about it” you chuckled, walking towards the rest of the footballers. You noticed Niamh from Chelsea, Hannah from Villa and Alessia from United were all lumped together chatting, and made your way over to them. “Hey” you smiled at them.
“Oh, you got stuck doing this too?” Niamh laughed, while the four of you looked on at the literal hundreds of kids running around, with teachers trying their best to keep them still.
“It’ll be fun” Alessia giggled, punching Niamh into the arm.
“I’m with Less on this one” you smiled at the blonde.
“I’m with Less on this one” Niamh mocked you as her and Hannah laughed and you rolled your eyes at her. “You always side with her”
“I liked it better when you were at Liverpool and out of my face for the majority of the season” you squeezed her shoulders as you ran off towards a group and started high fiving all the little kids.
You and Niamh were together a lot since her move to London. You got on well and usually were roommates on England camps, and had been since you were kids. Alessia always shared with Ella, but you two were close enough as well. You got on with Alessia and Ella, you just never normally got to spend time with just one of them.
There was 12 groups and each one of you were positioned at 12 stations with a different exercise each set up to coach. Each group got 10 minutes with each player and then moved on to the next one. You had Niamh to the left of you and Alessia to the right of you. Hannah was over towards the goal.
To anybody that didn’t know you, they probably would have said you weren’t so great working with kids. You had the signature Williamson frown perfected, and you were a bit bigger than your older sister. But you were hands down the best coach on the day. You were joining in on the drills, getting their teachers involved, you were making the kids laugh their heads off and just have fun playing football. The kids would all start moaning when the 10 minute session with you would end and they’d have to move on.
“Come on, you’re going to Alessia next. She’s way more fun than I am” you’d shout each and every time making them all cheer and run towards the blonde, who only matched their excitement.
The school’s had all been told that you all wouldn’t have time to stay and take pictures or sign autographs individually for each child, but could do group ones with classes. But you were more than happy to sign or do whatever. It was just in your nature, you were a genuine good person. Eventually all the kids had been collected and a few of the girls with long drives had headed off.
All that was left now was you, Alessia, Niamh, Esme and Hannah, as well as a few teachers and people from the FA.
“Do you need a hand?” You asked the same teacher who’d dragged her class off of you this morning. She was clearly new to teaching, she was no older than you were.
“Would you mind?” She asked as you shook your head with a smile. You got her to hold open the ball bag as you booted the balls into it. Making sure to do it gently so as to not accidentally hit her with one. “I wish I had one of you every week” she laughed.
“I’m sure England wouldn’t mind loaning me out to the school” you shrugged with a chuckle.
“You were actually great with them, I’ve never seen them so happy”
“It was definitely easier dealing with them for two hours than it was dealing with my teammates in fairness” you joked.
You two were chatting, and flirting a bit as you walked in from the Astro and to the store room.
“She just can’t help herself” Niamh playfully sighed as the group all watched you walk into the school with the teacher.
“She’s just helpful” Alessia shrugged.
“When the person is attractive” Niamh bit back, as they followed you inside.
“I know you probably don’t give it out, but would I be able to get your number, or something?” She asked.
“Yeah, gimme your phone” you smirked, typing your number into her phone.
“I’ll text you” she smiled as you dropped the bag by into the storeroom, and headed out of the PE Hall.
“Come on Romeo” Niamh shouted as you said goodbye and jogged over to the group. “Did you just get that teacher’s number?” She laughed.
“For educational purposes” you shrugged with a smirk. You’d all walked out to the car park to where you and Niamh’s cars were parked.
“See you at camp in a few weeks, mate” Niamh said as she headed off with Hannah and Esme, all of you shouting your goodbyes.
“You waiting for someone, Less?” You asked. You and the Man United forward got on well. Not well enough you’d call yourselves friends, but work colleagues you’d occasionally text or do things in a group with.
“My agent was meant to be picking me up but is held up somewhere. I’m staying in London tonight cause I have a shoot in the morning. I’m just waiting on a taxi to bring me to a hotel” she sighed, gripping onto her suitcase now which they were obviously holding at the school’s reception for her.
“Come on, I’ll drive you” you smiled.
“No no, don’t worry, honestly, I’ll”
“Get in the car” you opened the passenger door as she eventually gave up arguing and got in. “What hotel?” You asked.
“He hasn’t booked it yet, I’m waiting on him to send me the details” she groaned.
“You want to just stay in mine? I have a spare room” you asked as she looked at you funny.
“I couldn’t ask you that” she shook her head.
“I’m offering” you shrugged. “Even if you want to just come and chill until he’s sent you the details of the hotel”
“Yeah, okay” she smiled.
“So, how’s Manchester? How’s your boyfriend?” You teased. Alessia was a really affectionate person, and when she was in love, she’d never shut up about the person.
“Manchester’s good, Patrick’s good” she giggled. That set her off on a tangent for the entire drive home about holidays they had booked, and they were planning on buying a house together in the next few months. “You’re not seeing anybody right now, are you?” She asked as you laughed.
“Nah, I’m good”
“Did you not get that teacher’s number back there?” She laughed, punching you lightly in the arm.
“Yeah, but you know, it’s nothing serious” you shrugged, pulling into the driveway of your house. You grabbed Alessia’s suitcase from the back, and tossed her the house key, gesturing her up towards the door. You got her stuff in, and showed her the spare bedroom and bathroom if she wanted to shower and have a nap. “I’m just gonna make dinner, do you want some?” You asked as she frowned.
“You can cook?”
“Yeah?” You raised your eyebrows with a chuckle.
“Leah could learn something from you” she laughed, walking off into the bathroom to take a shower.
You’d just thrown dinner into the oven when a text chimed in on your phone.
Alessia
Big favourrrrrrr
Bigger than letting me chill in your house and not abandoning me in London 😂
I forgot to pack clothes for sitting around in, could I borrow something?
You walked upstairs and grabbed a few different things from your wardrobe and left them outside the spare bedroom’s door.
“They’re outside Less, take whatever you want” you shouted as you jogged back downstairs, hearing a distant thanks being shouted back.
A few minutes later, she surfaced back down in the kitchen, now wearing a pair of your shorts and your hoodie.
“Arsenal gear looks good on you” you smirked as she rolled her eyes at you.
“What are you making? Can I help?” She asked. Alessia was Italian in some way shape or form, so when she saw pasta, she was straight over to the pot you had boiling to pour it in. “Oh I love this song, turn it up” she giggled. You pulled your phone out of your pocket to increase the volume, turning it up on the Bluetooth speaker it was blasting from.
The two of you were messing around, cooking, dancing and singing.
“Be back in a second, just keep your eye on this while I’m gone” you said, excusing yourself to go to the bathroom.
She waltzed over to take over what you had been cooking, and felt her phone buzz in her your hoodie.
“Hello?” She answered.
“Lessi, I’m so sorry I got stuck in a meeting. I will get that hotel sorted for you now. Where are you?” Her agent shouted, clearly in a car using his Bluetooth. She bounced on the balls of her feet for a few seconds. She was having a really nice time with you, and didn’t really want it to come to an end.
“I, um, I’m in y/n’s house” she whispered.
“Y/n? As in Williamson?” He asked.
“Yeah” she nodded, despite him not being able to see.
“Okay, well text me the address and I’ll come and get you” he said.
“If it’s okay, I think I might just stay”
“You sure?”
“Yeah”
“Okay, we’ll send me the address. I’ll pick you up in the morning” he called out as Alessia nodded.
You’d came back in just as she hung up and she’d turned back to the cooking.
“You alright?” You asked, giving her a fright as she’d not heard you come in.
“Jesus Y/n” she giggled, trying to catch her breath. You laughed back, but stayed silent, waiting for her to answer her original question. “My agent just called” she said, stirring the vegetables.
“Oh yeah? He picking you up?” You asked. Alessia doesn’t really know why she wanted to stay or why she lied to you, but she did it anyway.
“He couldn’t sort a hotel, but I told him you said I could stay here, if that’s still okay?” She smiled as you nodded back at her.
“Well, if you’re staying and you seem to have a better grasp of cooking than me, I might nip to the shops and grab some bits then” you said, as you headed to the hall to put your runners on. “What do you like?” You asked.
“You don’t need to get me anything” she waved her hands with a chuckle.
“Well, I’m coming back with something, so it would be better if it was something you liked” you shrugged with a smirk.
“Just a Pepsi max and a dairy milk” she smiled as you nodded and headed out.
You weren’t gone long, but she’d plated up dinner and was already tucked up comfortable on your couch, waiting for you.
“Honey, I’m home” you laughed as you walked through the living room door, and threw her a bag filled to the top with sweets, also placing a full crate of Pepsi max infront of her.
“I asked for a Pepsi max and a dairy milk, as in one Pepsi max and one normal sized dairy milk” she giggled, throwing a giant dairy milk back at you from the bag. You laughed at her with a shrug, heading into the kitchen and grabbing both of your dinners that she’d left in the oven to keep warm. The rest of the night was pretty much spent cooped up on the couch watching a movies.
The first one you both sat on opposite sides of the couch, the second one you’d eventually agreed to let Alessia cuddle into you. Whenever you were with her on any mode of transport she was always tucked into whoever she was beside. You’d drifted off during the third film, and woke to the feeling of Alessia pushing off you to answer her phone.
“It’s just Patrick” she said, but you noticed her perky tone.
“Yeah go ahead. I’ll catch you in the morning” you smiled as she headed off and up to her room.
She left the next morning, hugging you goodbye at the door and thanking you for last night. You threw the rest of the crate of Pepsi in the back of her agent’s car, as there was no use in you keeping it.
You and Alessia now seemed to be friends, texting and talking on the phone everyday. But she lived in Manchester and wasn’t easily accessible to hang out with. She was in Manchester with Patrick, and you were in London with your new girlfriend. You eventually got a text from the teacher, who you learned was called Jamie, and ended up really liking her and asked her out.
It was just annoying the next time you saw Alessia, she was wheeling away in celebration after scoring the winner against you at a packed out Emirates. You punched the ground in frustration as the ball hit the back of the net, knowing that goal could be her ticket to the World Cup, and the reason you could stay at home. But you couldn’t be angry with her when she came up behind you and wrapped her arms around you.
“Hello stranger” she giggled against your shoulder.
“Boo, get off” you chuckled, gently pushing her away.
“Oh don’t be mad, you’d much rather see me win the league than Chelsea wouldn’t you?” She smirked.
“I’m not answering that” you shook your head.
“We still on for later?” She asked as you smiled and nodded at her. “Not too busy with your girlfriend?” She teased.
“Fuck off Lessi” you groaned, releasing a light laugh.
“We will get through the third one tonight” she laughed as she squeezed your shoulder and headed back towards the changing rooms.
“You and Less seem close all of a sudden?” Leah frowned as you shrugged. “You know she has a boyfriend?” She asked.
“Yes I’m aware, seeming as he is all she talks about” you laughed. “We did some community event together awhile ago and she ended up staying in mine because of some issue with her hotel, and we’ve just been talking since then”
“You know she has a boyfriend though?” Leah repeated.
“I’m not into her” you groaned. “I’ve actually been seeing someone” you shrugged.
“And you haven’t told me? What type of a sibling are you?” Leah frowned and punched your arm. “Who is she playing for?” Leah asked.
“She’s not a footballer” you shook your head. “She’s a teacher. We met at the community thing and have been on a few dates”
“I’m waiting for you to say your typical ‘it’s nothing serious’ line” Leah laughed.
“Well, it is serious, she’s my girlfriend” you shrugged.
“What the hell has happened to you?” Leah shouted after you as you both walked towards the changing room.
It took a few months, but you and Alessia eventually finished that third movie you’d started when she’d stayed over. Only this time, it wasn’t Patrick that interrupted, but Jamie. It also wasn’t a phone call, but a knock on the door.
“Hey baby” you smiled as you opened the door.
“Hi, sorry for showing up. I was on the way home and my phone died and you were closer than” she explained.
“You don’t need to make excuses up because you wanted to spend the night” you teased, earning you a playful scowl which very quickly turned to a kiss. “I’ll go grab you a charger, make yourself comfy” you jogged upstairs to grab your phone charger as Jamie headed into the living room.
“Oh, hi” Jamie frowned at the sight of another girl our hous, until she realised who it was.
“Oh, hello” Alessia smiled. “I’m Alessia” she stood up and stuck out her hand.
“Jamie” she smiled back, and shook the blonde’s hand. “Nice to finally meet you”
“You too” Alessia replied. “Y/n didn’t say you were coming?”
“I wasn’t meant to” she tried to explain.
“Her phone died so now she has to spend the night” you smirked, handing her the phone charger.
“My phone did die” she protested.
“Yeah, yeah” you laughed, gripping her waist and kissing her cheek. “Sit down, I’ll get you some tea. Less, want something?” You asked. “Let me guess, a Pepsi” you laughed, speaking in her tone of voice and walking to the kitchen.
“God, how do you put up with her all the time?” Alessia giggled.
“With great difficulty” Jamie replied sarcastically. “Oh, what are you guys watching?” She asked.
“Pitch perfect 3” Alessia explained. “Will we put it back to the beginning?”
“No, no, don’t worry. I’ve seen it before” Jamie smiled, as she plugged her phone in and sat down beside Alessia.
You came back into the room, placing the cold can of Pepsi against Alessia’s neck, making her jump out of her skin. Your approach with Jamie was a lot nicer, handing her her mug of tea with a kiss.
“Up Russo and sit in the single person chair” you threw her can onto the chair, almost like you were asking her to fetch it.
“Hey, I’m not single!” She shouted with a laugh.
“Oh you have a boyfriend? You’ve never mentioned him before” you rolled your eyes, thinking about every second word out of her mouth being his name.
“Oh sweet, you have a boyfriend? What’s his name?” Jamie smiled.
“Oh, here we go” you groaned, earning a gentle shrug from Jamie.
After a 25 minute conversation about Patrick, eventually, you restarted the movie, giving in to Alessia’s protests to just put it back to the beginning so Jamie could get the full experience.
You dropped Alessia back to the team hotel the next morning, she made you promise you would never have to share a wall again when Jamie was over and you just laughed at her for the entire car journey.
England camp was only a few weeks later, and the minute she saw you, she’d practically sprinted from Ella’s side, and jumped into your arms.
“Hey bestie” she giggled.
“Hey loser” you grinned, and placed her gently back on the ground.
Lucy started gesturing with her hands to Ella and Lotte, teasing them both about being replaced as Alessia’s best friend.
“You’re not going to hug the better Williamson, no?” Leah smirked.
“She just did” you shrugged.
“Shut up man, you’re so annoying” Leah groaned. “I’ve put you two down to share this camp, is that alright?” Leah asked.
You never really cared who you shared with. Sometimes you shared with Leah, but it was mostly with Niamh, who was taking this adjustment harder than you were.
“What’s this?” Niamh shouted, holding a piece of paper. “Less, can we swap?” She asked.
“Stop being a baby Niamhy” you laughed. “You’re sharing with Hempo, you two are mates” you shrugged, pointing to both of their names on the sheet she was holding.
“Leah Williamson, how could you do this to me?” Ella snapped. “You’ve taken Less away from me for what? And put me by myself?”
“Jesus Christ, do whatever you want” Leah groaned, walking back towards Georgia and Keira.
“Can you two grow up?” You frowned. “Who cares who’s sharing with who?”.
“Well, if you don’t care, then swap with me” Ella bit back.
“Fine. Give me your stupid fucking key” you held out your hand and she placed the key to your new room in it. You didn’t even look at Alessia as you stormed off and up to your room. Ella didn’t actually have a room mate, as her room just had a double bed, which suited you. You just spent all your downtime on the phone to Jamie.
You’d been pretty much sticking with Leah throughout camp. You were trying to stick with the senior players to learn from them and let Sarina see you slotted in well with the starting XI.
It was after a couple of days on camp, a match day gone already, that you were in a bit of a better mood. You’d seen Jamie at the game, and you’d been put in the starting XI. You’d also just received a message from the person you loved to see pop up on your phone.

Sooo funny
Open your door
You smirked as you got up to open the door, revealing the smiling blonde forward on the other side.
“Fancy seeing you here” you teased.
“Shut up” she groaned. “You haven’t spoke to me all camp” she poked your collarbone harshly.
“Your friends are annoying” you shrugged.
“I wanted to share the room with you” she sighed.
“Why didn’t you say that then?” You frowned as she was the one to shrug now. You could tell she looked sad, so you softened your tone. “Is there a pitch perfect 4?” You asked as she looked at you with a smile and shook her head. “You wanna pick something different then?”
She jumped onto the bed and took the remote from the stand, that hadn’t been touched since you checked in. You got ready for bed in the bathroom and came back out to find the girl in your hoodie and under the sheets, on her phone with a movie paused. You moved to sit on the couch in the room as she looked at you funny.
“I’m not going to bite you, get into bed” she giggled.
“Oh no, how would Patrick feel?” You teased as you got in beside her.
Patrick and Jamie had met you both now. They liked that you two were friends. You were different to any of Alessia’s other friends, and she was different to yours. Alessia being straight with a boyfriend meant Jamie didn’t have anything to worry about, and you having Jamie meant Patrick had nothing to worry about. And they didn’t. You and Alessia were strictly friends, and neither of you saw the other in a different light, not even in the slightest.
You’d both maybe made it 20 minutes into the movie before you’d drifted off, with Alessia snuggled into you. You woke the next morning, her back pressed to your front and your arm wrapped around her, holding her hand.
“Fuck, Less, wake up” you groaned, although you didn’t move.
“Mmm?” She mumbled tiredly.
“You slept in my room” you grumbled.
She checked her phone, using the hand you’d still yet to let go of, and realised you still had enough time to go back to sleep for another two hours.
“Go back to sleep. I’ll tell Tooney I’m in here” she cooed. You mindlessly squeezed her hand as she squirmed in your hold, trying to push herself further against you.
Your alarm went off two hours later, and startled the two of you as you woke. You’d finally released the grip on her hand to turn the alarm off.
“Sleep okay?” You hummed.
“Yeah, you?” She smiled and you nodded back at her. “I’m going to head back to my room to get ready for breakfast. Follow me down?” She ordered as you shot her a thumbs up.
You noticed a few texts from Jamie and you replied quickly to let her know you’d fallen asleep due to Alessia putting on a boring movie. You got up and into your training gear, although it was not a requirement to wear it to breakfast. People could wear what they wanted to breakfast as there was a mix of early and late risers.
Meanwhile, Alessia had gotten back to her and Ella’s room, to find her best friend dressed and ready to go.
“Oh, nice of you to come back” Ella moaned.
“I fell asleep” Alessia scowled.
“Come on, I’m not waiting” Ella scoffed, pulling the blonde out the door and down the hall. “Although you could have done with changing that” she laughed, pointing to Alessia’s chest. She obviously didn’t care when she was around you, but now in front of her whole team, she was about to walk into breakfast in an Arsenal jumper, and your Arsenal jumper.
“Have a good day at work, don’t let them torment you” you chuckled at your phone, appearing from your door. “Oh, look who’s here” you smiled, catching up to the Alessia and shoving the phone in her face.
“Morning Less” Jamie smiled.
“Good morning” Alessia beamed back.
“Alessia Russo, is that an Arsenal jumper? Have you got something to tell us?” Jamie teased.
“Your stupid girlfriend gave me a hoodie to borrow when I was tired and obviously took advantage in the moment” Alessia glared at you, as a smirk grew on your face.
“I did no such thing” you unsuccessfully pleaded your innocence. “Babe, we’re just about to get into breakfast” you slowed down your walking and continued talking to Jamie for a few more minutes before hanging up.
“She seems nice” Ella said.
“She is, they suit each other really well. Just like me and Patrick. Oh actually” Ella regretted saying anything now as Alessia began to spiral. Alessia got a right slagging off for wearing your jumper down to breakfast, nearly everyone getting in on the joke, except for one.
“Y/n” Leah frowned gesturing you over to her.
“What?” You huffed at her, as she had interrupted your conversation with Alessia and taken you away from your breakfast.
“What did I tell you?” She began.
“About what?” You scrunched your face.
“Alessia has a boyfriend. You’re making her look bad parading around in your clothes. You’re making yourself look bad, you’ve got a girlfriend” Leah frowned.
“Leah, there’s nothing fucking going on” you shouted, causing a few heads to turn.
“Take it off her then” she snapped.
“You’re an idiot” you mouthed.
You turned on your heels and walked back towards Alessia, taking a seat beside her and going back to your breakfast in silence. You felt Leah’s eyes burn into the back of your head, but you didn’t care. There was nothing going on with Alessia and you didn’t need to keep explaining that.
England camp was over in a flash, and all of a sudden you were back at your clubs, preparing to face each other in a few weeks time.
You and Jamie were also becoming more solid, and you’d planned to ask her to move in with you, as you’d now been dating for a good few months. Alessia and Patrick were also finalising everything to buy their house in Manchester, after she’d been promised a big contract at United when she stayed in January.
You spent New Year’s in Manchester with the couple, along with Jamie, Ella and her boyfriend, Joe. When pictures of the six of you went up online, that was when Leah came to the realisation that you were actually just friends. You were both happy with different people, and not to mention, again, Alessia is straight.
You’d just pulled up to the team hotel in Manchester, when you got a call from the United striker herself.
“Keeping tabs on me Russo? How’d you know to ring when I just arrived at the hotel?” You laughed with a smirk. But the smirk was quickly wiped off your face when you heard her sob on the other end of the phone. “Less? What’s wrong?” You pouted, pulling away from the group and over to somewhere quiet.
“Patrick broke up with me” she sobbed on the other end of the phone.
“Fuck Less, are you okay? Fuck, I’ll come over” you said, sprinting off to find Jonas and trying to keep her calm on the phone.
Jonas allowed you to leave due to training being done this morning and the rest of the day was for rest. You needed to be back at the hotel for latest 9pm. A few girls were also leaving, off to get food or coffee with mates that lived nearby. You’d got a tram and then sprinted to Alessia’s house that she shared with Ella and Millie. You practically banged the door down trying to get someone’s attention, and Ella finally gave in.
“Where’s Less?” You huffed at the smaller girl, who just pointed towards the living room. You rushed inside, instantly finding Alessia lying on the sofa crying, being consoled by Millie. “Less” you sighed as she now copped you were here. She didn’t say anything and neither did you, she just stuck her arms out for you to hug her, moving out of Millie’s hold and swiftly into yours. Ella and Millie headed into the kitchen to make tea and food.
“I can only stay til 9pm, but I’ll stay with you tomorrow night okay?” You whispered as she nodded against you.
“Thank you for coming over” she sniffled.
“You deserve better than him Lessi, you deserve someone amazing” you rubbed the lower part of her back as she continued to cry against your shoulder.
“Could you just try help me get to sleep?” She asked. You both headed off to her bedroom, she was clung onto your back as you carried her there. “Can I have this?” She asked playing with the strings of your hoodie, as you pulled it over your head and handed her it. “Can you cuddle me again, like you did at England camp?” She pouted.
“Yeah, of course, whatever you need” you smiled, lying down beside her, and letting her get comfortable in whatever way she needed. She pulled your hand around your waist and continued to hold yours, just like you woke up at camp a few weeks ago. You’d stayed still for about an hour and a half before you checked your phone. Leah had text saying Jonas needed everyone back, and Jamie had sent multiple texts asking if you were alive.
You gently removed yourself from Alessia, careful not to wake her and groaned at the fact you were not getting the hoodie back. You grabbed one of hers that was on the ground and jogged quietly down the stairs, and poked your head into the living room.
“Uh, I need to go but I’ll see you both tomorrow” you announced to the United duo who were watching TV.
“Wait” Ella shouted. “Do you have a minute?” She asked as you nodded.
“You and Less” Millie began.
“Are you two” Ella continued.
“Mates” you shrugged. “We just became really close really quick, but Less is straight and me and my girlfriend are quite serious” you explained.
“So you don’t like her?” Ella asked.
“I love Less, but just as mates” you stated.
“You’re wearing her jumper” Millie pointed out with a smirk.
“She asked for mine, and I need something to wear to get back” you shrugged. “Speaking of, I do actually need to go” you stood up, taking your phone out of your pocket.
“See you in the morning” Mille smiled, nudging Ella as they were both giggling over something.
You shot Jamie a message explaining the situation on the way back to the hotel. When you got in, you were instantly pulled away from the team by your sister.
“What the fuck are you doing?” She snapped.
“What?” You huffed, pushing her hand off your arm.
“Is that Alessia’s?” She frowned as you looked down now. You’d now realised you’d grabbed the striker’s United hoodie, and just walked into the Arsenal team hotel wearing it. “Just take it off” Leah grunted as you walked away and went off to your room.
You didn’t budge until the bang at the door the next morning, waking you up to come get breakfast. You trudged down, deciding not to wear Alessia’s jumper as it would definitely cause arguments. You bumped into Jonas on the way there, letting him know you wouldn’t be travelling back on the bus tonight.
You did a walk of the stadium and headed in to get changed. You weren’t in the starting XI today, at this stage you’d probably need something drastic to happen to make it to the World Cup squad. You were sitting opposite Leah in the dressing room, who looked more stressed than usual as you both were getting kitted up.
“Lee, you alright?” You asked softly, walking over and bending down to be eye level with her.
“I don’t feel good about today” she shook her head. “I don’t know why” she shrugged.
Although Leah was a protective older sister, and the two of you annoyed the shit out of each other, you two were very close.
“You’ll be great. You always are” you smiled, pulling her up and giving her a hug.
The game started lively, both team’s had good chances. You were on the sidelines with your eyes glued to the game, and you weren’t sure why they kept wandering to Alessia. Maybe it’s because you were worried about her. You didn’t see the play, but you knew who the scream belonged to before your head shot to meet the sound. You were already on your feet before your brain could comprehend the sight of Leah punching the ground in pain.
“Leah” you shouted, instantly being pulled back by Jen. You knew you couldn’t go on the pitch, but you didn’t care in that moment. You heard the physios on the sideline, taking to the one on the pitch with your sister. You heard the three letters fall from their mouth. Your heart sunk and you began heavy breathing, trying to fight back the scream you wanted to let out for her.
“Williamson, get ready” Jonas shouted.
“She’s in no state” Jen tried to explain but he didn’t care. Your sister was helped to the side of the pitch as you stood pale as a ghost on the sideline watching her limp towards you. Your number was displayed in green on the board, while hers was shown in red.
“Come here” she whispered, pulling you against her and leaning all her body weight against you. “You go and show Sarina it’s you” she poked your chest as she put her arms back around the physio and Kim who helped her down the tunnel.
“You okay?” Alessia asked, when you jogged next to her.
“I don’t know” you replied honestly. Your head was all over the place after watching Leah in that much pain.
“We can go to the hospital when we’re finished, I’ll bring you okay?” She brushed her fingers against your hand as you nodded. The ball was thrown in and it was game on. United had made it 1-0 just before half time, Alessia scoring the goal. You still weren’t even all there yet to be annoyed you’d went behind. You knew Alessia needed that goal too, you couldn’t get your head into the game at all.
After a pep talk from Kim at half time, you came out all guns blazing in the second half. You didn’t let anything get by you. United didn’t register a singular shot in the second half. Unfortunately, your strikers just couldn’t get you back into the game. Leah had left to go to the hospital, so when the match had ended you and Alessia rushed off to her car and towards the hospital. You both sat in the waiting room all night. Her head pressed on your shoulder while you were both drifting in and out.
“You want a cup of tea?” She asked and you nodded. When she headed off, you called Jamie.
“Hi babe, is everything okay?” She asked and you shrugged.
“I’m just at the hospital now waiting for Leah” you sighed.
“You played so well under the circumstances” she smiled softly.
“She’s not going to pick me” you shook your head.
“You don’t know that” she pouted. It was all that had been playing on your mind, and she knew it was affecting you every time you saw your name on the bench.
“This isn’t helping either, it was fucking awful” you raised your voice slightly in frustration, referring to Leah’s situation.
“I know baby, I know” she cooed, trying to keep you calm. “Why don’t you still stay with Alessia tonight? I’ll see you tomorrow when you come home then” she smiled.
“I love you” you breathed out.
“I love you too, text me later” she said before you both ended the call.
A nurse had just gestured you over before Alessia arrived back, to let you know Leah could leave.
You spoke to Leah briefly, she told you she was heading back to London now and had scans in the morning.
“You staying with Less?” She asked and you nodded. She looked over your shoulder to see the blonde was waiting for you at the door. “God you two are really attached at the hip” she laughed as you shrugged.
You gave her a hug goodbye, as did Alessia before Alessia drove you both home and Leah headed off to London.
“Just go straight up, I’ll be up in a minute”Alessia smiled when you got in, and you nodded, starting to walk towards the staircase.
“Is Leah okay?” Ella asked, as her and Millie jumped out of the living room door like a double act.
“Eh, it’s the ACL” you pouted, pointing at your knee.
“You alright?” Millie asked and you nodded. “We ordered food for you both” she added.
“You didn’t need to do that” you stuttered. “How much do I owe you?” You asked, starting to root through your bag for your wallet.
“Nothing, that’s what mates do for each other” Ella smiled as Millie pulled you into the room.
Alessia eventually followed you in, thanking both of them for the food. The couch in their house was an L shaped one, so you and Alessia lay on the corner stretched out with her pressed against you when you’d finished eating and switched your focus to the TV. The other two didn’t seem to take any notice now of the two of you. When the movie had ended, the three of them stood up, cleaning up and rejecting your offer to help.
You pulled out your phone to text Jamie goodnight, before saying goodnight to Ella and Millie as they headed off to their bedrooms.
“You okay?” Alessia asked as you slipped your phone back into your hoodie and stretched out on the couch.
“All good” you smiled. “I’ll see you in the morning?” You asked as she frowned at you.
“You’re not coming to bed?”
“Oh, I just, uh, I just thought I was sleeping here”
“I’d prefer if you were with me” she shook her head at you. You weren’t one to argue, so you jumped up off the couch and followed her upstairs, assuming the usual position and drifting off.
You told Alessia before you headed home to London the next morning about how you planned to ask Jamie to move in with you in the next few weeks, and to say she was over the moon for you was an understatement. Despite her own relationship breaking down, she loved you and Jamie together. She sometimes thinks back to the day you and Jamie first met and can’t help but see how Jamie fell for you. Although, she would refuse to let herself think about if someone else could fall for you, someone that had a boyfriend she was in love with, someone who’s never looked at a girl that way before, someone like her.
You decided to wait until all club matches were done and after the final England camp, before there was nothing else you could do to change Sarina’s mind. You invited Jamie over for dinner, and tonight was the night you were going to ask her to move in. You hadn’t told anybody that tonight was the night, not even Alessia or Leah knew. You took a deep breath, before you answered the door with a huge smile plastered on your face.
“Hi” she giggled, stepping in and instantly kissing you.
“Hello” you mumbled in between kisses. “Dinner is just ready” you said, taking her jacket off her shoulders and hanging it up, while she headed towards the kitchen. You chatted over dinner, laughing and joking like always, before your heart started thumping and your face seemed to be giving you away.
“Baby, what’s wrong?” Jamie frowned, placing her hand over yours.
“Jamz, you know, I’m really happy with you and I’m sick of doing this back and forth of your place and my place. I want to move in with you” you blurted out.
“Oh” she breathed out.
“We can live here, or in your place, or somewhere else entirely. I just want to be with you all the time. I’m in love with you” you smiled.
“Y/n” she sighed. You knew from that moment it was a mistake. “I think you’re a really great person and I do love you, a lot. I just don’t think I’m ready to take such a big step when in a year or two when your contract is out, who knows where you might end up?” She stated.
“I could get another club here” you shrugged. “I’m working hard to try and get another contract here” you squeezed her hand a little harder this time.
“It’s just a big risk, y/n/n. You could have to move away or we might break up and then one of us needs to find somewhere else or I’ll be here on my own” she pouted.
“Just forget I asked okay? You’re right, it’s probably too soon to jump in and then I might be gone all Summer” you smiled weakly, trying to hide just how upset you were. It was silent for a few minutes, both of you no longer touching and staring at opposite walls in the kitchen.
“Y/n/n, I’m so sorry” she shook her head. You knew by the look on her face that she wasn’t apologising for not wanting to move in. “I don’t think” she began but you waved your hands in the air.
“You don’t need to say it” you interrupted.
“I’m sorry” she repeated.
“Me too” you sighed.
She got up from the table, kissing your cheek, and headed out of your house. The kiss was a kiss goodbye. You were single again, and remembering now why you decided dating was a bad idea. Although you and Alessia were friends, you were very different people. When Patrick broke up with her, she needed you, Ella and Millie. You however, decided to just shut out the world and not speak to anybody.
You’d seen a few calls and texts the last few days come in from different people, just checking in to see if you were okay despite not knowing about the break up. You hadn’t replied to anybody, it was just too painful to look at your phone and see nothing was coming through from Jamie. No calls, no texts, nothing.
Your agent had emailed on the day of the World Cup squad announcement that calls were being made to everyone who had made it and had not made it. You sat on the couch all day, numbing your brain with shit TV and by the time it reached 8pm, you gave up hope. You weren’t even worth a phone call. You’d just shuffled to get up when Sarina’s contact flashed up on your screen and you pressed answer.
“Hello?”
“Hello, y/n? It’s Sarina” she announced.
“Hi Sarina, how are you?” You asked.
“I’m good, how are you?” She replied.
“Yeah, I’ve been” you stuttered. “Yeah” you nodded, but she noticed the look on your face was one of misery.
“Do you need to talk?” She asked as you shook your head. “Well, I’m sure you know why I’m calling” she smiled as you nodded at her this time.
“I do”
“So, obviously the squad, I can only bring 23 and we have a very competitive squad. We have a lot of players that this might be their last World Cup and we are pushing to reach the final” she explained.
“Yeah, absolutely” you nodded.
“It was a very difficult decision, due to us having a lot of quality players competing for your position, so I ultimately had to make the right choice for the team and the demands of this tournament” she continued.
“Yeah” you sighed. Maybe you could do the Euro’s squad in 2025
“I’d like to inform you, that you have been selected to represent England this summer at the World Cup, if you would like to join us?” She smiled.
“I’m sorry, what?” You rushed out.
“Your performances haven’t gone unnoticed with us here. We think you’d be an integral part of the squad in Australia” she told you.
“Sarina, I don’t know what to say. Thank you so much. You’ll never understand how much this means to me” you shook your head.
“Go on, go and tell that sister of yours the good news. I will see you next week” she smiled as you both said your goodbyes and ended the call.
The phone rang and rang until she answered at the final one.
“Y/n what the hell, where have you been? You’ve been ignoring me for over a week” Leah started shouting, and continued until you cut her off.
“Lee, I made the squad”
“And I am sick to death, wait, what did you say?”
“I’m in the squad. I’m in the World Cup squad”
“Holy shit” she shouted. “Have you told Jamie? Have you told anybody?” She laughed.
“Yeah, um, me and Jamie broke up last week” you sighed.
“What? Why didn’t you call me? Are you okay?”
“I just needed a few days to mope around. But I’m okay now”
“Have you told Alessia then?” She asked and you shook your head. “I’ll come by tomorrow, go call her. I think you two need to talk” she smirked.
You ended that call with Leah and rang Alessia who answered fairly quickly in comparison to your sister.
“There you are” she took a breath of relief. “I have been worried sick about you” she huffed.
“I’ve just been a bit all over the place” you shrugged. “Did Sarina call you?” You asked as she nodded, with a guilty expression on her face.
“I’m in the squad” she whispered.
“I’m proud of you” you smiled. “You won’t get sick of me in Australia, will you?” You smirked.
“Wait, you’re in? We’re going to a World Cup together?” She shouted as you laughed. “Are you at home?” She asked as you nodded. “Would you mind if I came over?”
“Why are you in London?” You frowned.
“I’ll explain when I get there” she giggled.
“Yeah, come over” you nodded.
It was a little while later when the girl knocked on your door and instantly fell into your arms.
“It’s so good to see you” she hummed against you.
“You too Less” you replied softly.
“Is Jamie here? Have you asked her yet?” She smirked.
“Uh” you rubbed the back of your neck awkwardly and bounced on your toes. “Me and Jamie broke up last week” you admitted.
“What? Y/n, oh my god, no” she pouted, pulling you in for hard hug. “I’m so sorry”
“Don’t be, it’s okay. Things happen” you shrugged. “Why did you want to come over, and why are you in London?” You asked.
“Well, you know my contract at United finishes this Summer” she began as she took your hand towards the living room and you both sat down. “Originally, I was interested in staying because me and Patrick were going to buy a house in Manchester, but obviously now we’re not, so I was offered a contract with a London club so I am here to possibly sign that” she smirked.
“You’re moving to London?” You shouted enthusiastically at the idea of your best friend being with you.
“I’m moving to Arsenal” she giggled as your jaw dropped.
“Lessi, holy shit” you shouted, pulling her off the couch and up into your arms. “You can stay with me, you know?” You smiled
“I was hoping you’d suggest that” she giggled.
“You’re staying tonight, right?” You asked as you both sack back down. She nodded at you before kicking her shoes off and throwing her legs across your lap.
At the World Cup, you and Alessia never left eachother’s sides for the entirety of the tournament. You’d been going off on walks, to get coffee, and to do something sightseeing together, usually alone. You both were getting game time throughout the tournament and spent most of your nights sneaking off to the others room for a cuddle.
When the whistle blew in the final game of the tournament, you sunk to your knees and punched the ground. You couldn’t believe you’d lost. You felt a pair of hands on your shoulders and instantly knew they were Alessia. You didn’t move or push her off, you just let her do whatever she wanted. The team had decided to drown their sorrows and you were definitely both packing away more than necessary. You’d both been though serious break ups and now losing the final, you felt like the world was ending.
“You want another one?” You mumbled to Alessia as you stood up and she reached out for your hand.
“Take me back to your room” she slurred, dipping her hands down and into yours. You pulled the girl through the crowded room, through the lobby and up to your bedroom.
“You okay?” You asked as she shook her head.
“We deserved more, we were so close” she mumbled, throwing herself against you to get a hug.
“We’ll be back, you know we will” you tried to smile as you gently rubbed her back. “Why don’t we have a drink, just us two?” You asked, rooting through a bag you’d carried up from downstairs and pulling out a bottle of champagne. “Obviously these were for if we won” you smirked.
You had just normal glasses in the room, which Alessia held up and you poured the champagne into them, both clinking them off each other before swigging from them.
You’d both had a few glasses before the topic of conversation changed to a more serious one. You were both too drunk to have this conversation, but maybe it was all the courage you needed.
“You never said why you and Jamie broke up” she whispered.
“You never said about you and Patrick” you quipped.
“There was someone else, for him” she explained as you gripped her thigh to try and be comforting.
“She just found my lifestyle too hectic” you sighed as Alessia took your hand.
“Can I tell you something funny?” She asked as you nodded. “The day we did that community event, when I stayed in yours, my agent was going to bring me to a hotel” she began as you cut across.
“I remember, but there was some type of issue so you stayed with me” you recited.
“There was never an issue, I just didn’t want to leave” she giggled.
“Well, lucky you, you have a key and your own bedroom in our house now” you laughed. Alessia had decided to move in with you on her return to London, just until she found her feet.
“That last part of that sounded good” she whispered.
“Now?” You frowned, repeating the last word you said.
“No, you idiot” Alessia rolled her eyes. “When you called it our house” she explained, running her fingertips along your arm.
“Oh, well, it is our house” you stuttered.
“I want everything with you to be ours” she whispered as she looked you dead in the eye. You’d never looked at Alessia as anything other than your friend, but right now, you couldn’t see her as just that anymore. “I don’t want to just be friends anymore y/n/n” she blurted out.
“Are you sure you want this?” You asked as you saw her lean in with a nod.
The kiss was hungry, and you both melted into it. Her hands cupped your face, while yours instantly fell to her ribs. You both needed this, it was obvious that feelings have been there throughout the whole friendship, but this is what you needed to really know, you loved her and she loved you. She pulled away after a few seconds, looking so flustered you thought she was going to run out of the room, or tell you this was a mistake and it was because of the alcohol. But instead she said.
“I think I’ve been in love with you for awhile”
“Yeah, I think that makes two of us” you nodded.
“This can’t be just for fun, especially not if we’re living together” she explained.
“Be with me then” you stated boldly. “Be my girlfriend, and we can keep the spare room for storage for all your stupid clothes” you laughed.
“Did you just ask me out and then ruin it by calling my clothes stupid?” She huffed with a smirk, making you only laugh harder.
“I want to be with you” you hummed.
“Then that’s what we’ll be” she smiled, pressing her lips against yours.
Arsenal training was like heaven when you got back from the World Cup. You were waking up beside your girlfriend every morning, going to training together, coming home together and repeating the next day. It was like this had been in front of you both the entire time, you were just too naive to see it. Your teammates all knew you were living together, but none of them knew you were dating. You weren’t just going to start announcing it in the changing room, but if someone asked, you wouldn’t lie. That was the agreement you both made.
Leah usually stopped around a lot more when Alessia wasn’t living with you, but she didn’t want to intrude in Alessia’s space, so she’d started stopping around less and less. She’d knocked around on her way home from being out with some girls on the team, of which you and Alessia backed out of due to being preoccupied with lying on your couch watching TV together.
“Anybody in?” Leah shouted, letting herself in the front door.
“Yeah, in here” you called back. You and Alessia were tucked into each other, with her leg draped over you.
“Aren’t you two cosy?” Leah laughed when she walked in, and sat down on the armchair in the room.
“Very” Alessia giggled. “Want a cup of tea?” She asked your sister.
“I’d actually love one, thanks Less” Leah smiled. A smile that was quickly wiped off her face when Alessia pushed herself up and off you, and quickly kissed you before shuffling off to the kitchen. “Did you two just kiss?” She frowned at you.
“Yeah” you shrugged, starting to scroll on your phone.
“You’re still trying to convince me you two are just friends and nothing has been going on?” She laughed sarcastically.
“We’ve been dating since the World Cup final” you said like that wasn’t several months ago, and this wasn’t a big deal.
“And you’re only telling me now?” Leah shouted, jumping off her armchair and over to the couch to punch you in the arm.
“What have I missed?” Alessia giggled at the sight of you two.
“You two are dating and neither of you thought to tell me? Haven’t I been through enough with my injury?” She exclaimed as you just laughed and Alessia’s eyes shot to the ground, a guilty expression plastered on her face.
“Do you not approve or something?” You teased with a smirk as Leah hit you again. Alessia looked like she was going to cry.
“Do you not like me, Lee?” Alessia asked, as Leah’s face softened and you looked at her with an instant worried expression.
“What?” Leah replied.
“She thinks you’re being fucking serious” you hit your sister back, and not playfully like she had been doing to you.
“No Lessi, of course I like you” your sister said. “I just thought my ACL was the worst thing that could happen to me, but someone I thought was so smart and had such a bright future ahead of them, decided to date my sister” Leah smirked as Alessia started to giggle.
“Fuck you” you shouted, springing up off the couch as Leah sprinted out of the living room and into the bathroom, locking the door behind her. “Shes such a pain” you moaned as your giggling girlfriend pulled you into a hug.
“Yes, but she is your sister. Your sister that now knows I’m your girlfriend” she smiled.
“I’ll never get sick of hearing you say that” you said softly.
“Maybe we should tell the team, before she does” Alessia laughed as you nodded.
Your phones both buzzed simultaneously as you both check the notification on your watches.

Anger and Regret
okay last one and I promise the next thing I post will be something freshly written again!!
request was this:
angst hurt/comfort request from tonight’s west ham game to cheer us up? 🙃 where reader and leah have been dating for some time but long distance, then reader just recently transferred to west ham and in the game against each other reader scored a hat trick putting west ham in the lead but leah is so angry (mostly cause it was her first time in the starting line up and she was disappointed) and she takes it out on the reader and reader is so sad cause she just wants her gf to be proud of her 🙃
Angst, comfort and happy ending all in one
-
Leah was fuming, having had to helplessly watch from the sideline as West Ham tore them a new one in the second half. She had been feeling proud at Alessias goal that gave them the lead. So as she got taken off the pitch at half time she was slightly relaxing. That quickly changed when you got put on - her girlfriend and one of the newest signings for WestHam, along with Kristie.
Both of you had switched from the US teams to the WSL for your partners and were therefore quite close. You were good, easily getting offers from Arsenal when you announced your departure from your old club - but Arsenal was stacked when it came to attacking players and therefore you had chosen West Ham instead, not wanting to rot on the bench. Leah hadn’t been too happy at your choice though she accepted it of course and she couldn’t deny that you really brought some new drive into the club, your goals enough to keep the team far away from the threatened relegation. Your girlfriend had been unbelievably proud to see it - now though, she was less amused when you kept banging goal after goal into the net, right past Manus fingertips.
The genuinely impressed comment from Beth at your hat trick when it was 3:1 for WestHam at the end of the game did nothing to improve Leah’s mood in the slightest, incredibly upset with herself for not getting this absolutely crucial win.
So, when later on in the tunnel you grabbed your girlfriends wrist wanting to both comfort her and also see her reaction at your hat trick, she pulled her hand back like she’d been burned. You were surprised at her next words, used to Leah being extremely competitive but usually she would just sulk and not get outright mean.
“Came to gloat?”
A frown on your face you tried to reach out for her hand again, only to be rejected once more as she took a step back.
“I didn’t want to gloat, I just wanted to check on you Leah.”
“Yeah, well, I don’t need your pity.”
Feeling the sting at how cold your girlfriend sounded you tried to remind yourself that she was a really sore loser and you had known that when you started dating her. This was nothing personal.
“Leah come on, we aren’t threatening you that much, it’s just special that we were fighting for relegation and now we beat someone who’s in the top 3.”
“Half our team has just recovered from an acl, it’s really not that special.” Leah’s voice had a bite in it that you really weren’t used to, your girlfriend usually super sweet and especially super proud whenever you’d score.
You bit your lip, trying not to say anything to upset her further and nodded, eyes on the ground.
When Leah didn’t say anything else you sighed, realising that it’d probably be better to go and celebrate with your teammates, Leah was definitively not in the mood to talk to you. “Guess I’ll see you later Leah.”
She barely hummed and you tried to suppress your tears as you quickly walked to the bathroom, not wanting to break down in front of your new team. You had hoped that Leah would just concentrate on the fact that you had scored - a hat trick as well - and wouldn’t focus on you beating her beloved team. Seemed like she just couldn’t do that right now.
Thankfully you managed to calm down enough that you could keep yourself from actually crying, definitely not willing to talk about the fight and your girlfriend’s treatment of you right now to anyone who would ask about your tears.
Walking into the changing room Kristie was one of the first ones to jump on you, nearly taking you to the ground. Everyone was talking excitedly, happy about beating Arsenal and now taking the ninth place and even though you were still disappointed and sad at how Leah had reacted, you made sure to put on a smile, not wanting to grab anyone’s attention.
Thankfully nobody had the time to celebrate since training was starting up again tomorrow and you were all exhausted, so you didn’t have to put on a happy face for too long, getting taken to your and Leah’s shared apartment by Kristie who wanted to visit Sam now anyway.
You were glad when you were finally alone, Leah apparently not home yet. You took a shower and then just let it out, sobbing into your pillow. Sad about how the day had went, sad that you and Leah weren’t on the same team and were therefore not rooting for the same one, sad that Leah wasn’t able to just put the rivalry aside for once and be happy for you and sad that you scored a hat trick and instead of being happy it was now overshadowed by your girlfriends reaction.
Meanwhile Leah was still in the changing room, having taken an eternity to shower and get changed and now slowly putting her last stuff in her bag.
“Oi.” Katie appeared, having watched the game from the sidelines because of her last yellow card. “Where’s the missus?”
“With her team.”
Katie didn’t seem to notice that something was up, happily continuing to chat.
“Ya know, I’d be so proud if that was my girlfriend. Really signed someone good there. Sucks for us of course but at least now they should be save from relegation.” She opened the door and took a playful bow as Leah just marched through, wanting to get home and be alone finally.
Leah was silently walking next to her as Katie continued to blabber, a bit lost in her own thoughts.
Katie’s next words pulled her out it: “I’m happy you took it well.” She gave her a pat on the shoulder. “She moved here just for you, it’s nice that you two can healthily deal with one person winning and one person losing.”
With that she bid her goodbye and was gone.
As Leah sat in her car, the 20 minute drive home had her overthinking her earlier actions. If only Katie knew that she hadn’t put the rivalry aside at all. She had been quite mean about it too, cringing internally at how she had used the acls as an excuse. Speeding up slightly, she prayed that you would be home and hadn’t gone out with the team, wanting to apologise for her behaviour.
You were indeed home, she discovered. But you were asleep, laying in your shared bed, a few tissues laying around and your eyes swollen, some tear tracks still visible on your face. Leah’s heart broke at the sight, feeling terrible at how she had treated you.
So, determined to make it right once you woke up, she hopped right back into her car and to the flower shop, getting you a big bouquet. She also got your favourite ice cream and some food for breakfast tomorrow, knowing that she couldn’t cook to save her life but also not wanting you to do it after she had already ruined your day.
Back home she checked on you quickly who was still laying there and sleeping peacefully. Leah removed the tissues around you and then placed water and an ibuprofen on the nightstand. You always got terrible headaches from crying and it looked like you’d been crying a lot so you’d probably need it. She had also placed two cooling pads in the fridge, knowing that you’d be annoyed at how swollen your eyes would be the next day.
She was very careful when she finally slipped into bed next to you, the flowers in a vase on the table along with the plates already set for breakfast tomorrow. Gently,  so you wouldn’t wake up, she pulled you into her arms, giving your still stained cheeks a soft kiss before drifting off as well.
The next morning your head was pounding, sitting up with a groan at the pain. You were surprised to find the water and pill on your nightstand, smiling softly at the sight of Leah with very messy hair next to you, glad that she had come home and apparently forgiven you for making Arsenal lose.
You quietly got up and went to the bathroom, ready to assess the damage that the tears had caused. It was truly awful, you had cried on and off for a few hours, just letting the whole stress of this season out and the result was incredibly swollen eyes that still had a red rim along with blotchy skin.
You sighed, deciding to wash your face with cold water and then carefully dried it with a towel. Since your view was obstructed you nearly jumped a feet in the air when Leah’s hands suddenly wrapped around you from behind, pressing herself into you.
Slowly lowering the towel from your eyes you met Leah’s in the mirror, her stomach turning at just how clear it was that you’d been crying.
She buried herself into your neck, glad that you let her.
“I’m really sorry for my behaviour, I truly have no excuse. And I’m terribly sorry that I made you cry, I really didn’t mean to.”
Heart softening quickly at her words muffled into the embrace you leaned back into her more, twisting your neck so you could give her a kiss.
“It’s alright. Just don’t let the rivalry get to your head next time, yeah?”
Leah nodded though it looked like she was holding something back so with a slight furrow of your brows you turned in her arms and gently grabbed her face so she’d look at you.
“What’s wrong?”
Leah swallowed hard, eyes still avoiding looking at you while she spoke.
“It wasn’t really about the rivalry, I just.. I’ve just come back from my acl and it already feels like all the pressure is on me. I see how people talk about Putellas and how she’s lost her touch after her acl and just isn’t that good anymore and I’m terrified that people are going to say this about me. It’s the first game that I’ve started in as captain since the injury and I just wanted to be good.”
You frowned at her words. Your girlfriend was always quite hard on herself but you hadn’t realised just how bad it was. Gently pulling her into a hug, you tried to comfort her by rubbing her back before pulling away and answering her.
“There’s always going to be someone who thinks you should have done better. Nobody who actually plays football and especially nobody who has ever done their acl will blame you for yesterday. It went great in the first half, you had the 1:0 lead and then you got subbed off and suddenly we were winning. That seems more like they shouldn’t have taken you off.” Leah chuckled at your words, feeling a lot lighter now that she had told you that she was scared.
You gave her another hug, tightly squeezing her.
“What someone online says really doesn’t matter. You need to stop looking at that stuff.”
Leah nodded in agreement, taking a deep breath, relieved that it was out and relieved that you were not mad at her apparently.
You stepped back slightly and offered her a hand: “Come on, I need an ice pack for my eyes and then I’ll make you breakfast.”
Leah grinned before grabbing you around your waist and carrying you downstairs, ignoring you protesting and trying to squirm out of her grip, forever annoyed that your girlfriend could just easily take you wherever which she loved to do simply to get on your nerves.
Placing you right in front of the fridge, she opened it, pulling out the almost done breakfast she would just have to reheat and the two ice packs for your eyes she had already put in yesterday for you. You smiled at her, softening at how your girlfriend had already known what you would need now.
Your smile widened when she showed you the ice cream and then the already set table with the flowers on it, pulling her into a deep kiss as a thank you.
Leah pulled away first, slightly breathless. “I’m sorry again. I’ll do better next time, I promise.”
You nodded, though you couldn’t resist teasing her a bit:
“Next time I beat your ass again?”

the beach episode
Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: beach day with leah. fluff, lazy kisses and sudoku.
"what if someone steals our stuff?" you ask leah, as you're laying your beach towels on the lounges. leah had immediately challenged you to a race to see who would get in the water first but you were worried about leaving your stuff behind.
"no one's gonna touch it, baby, there are people everywhere." she said, putting your bags next to the beach umbrella. "just hide it under our clothes." you suggested. "oh because that's a real cover, that's what's gonna keep the thieves away." leah yelped as you swatted at her with the beach towel. that should teach her for her sarcasm.
"leah, pleeease?" you whined. leah sighed, knowing how you could get worried over those things and proceeded to grab your clothes and put it over your belongings. you smacked her butt as she bent over and shouted, "ha! sucker!". you couldn't help but laugh as you sprinted in the direction of the ocean, leaving a bewildered leah behind.
the shock immediately subsided as she realized how you tricked her and began running after you. due to her athletic abilities, it didn't take long for her to catch up with you and grab you by the waist, tickling your sides, "you sneaky little rat!".
"leah! no, no!" you squealed at the touch of her fingers on your waist, grabbing her hands and wrapping them around your front. "truce, truce!" you pleaded, your head on leah's shoulder as you looked up at her with an innocent smile.
she narrowed her eyes, "oh, now you want truce, you cheater." you puckered your lips and she rolled her eyes with a smile, leaning down to give you multiple pecks.
"i shouldn't have ran, i'm sorry." you untangled yourself from leah's hold to stand in front of her. "well, i was still able to catch you so." leah smirked and shrugged her shoulders. "no, i mean i shouldn't have ran because i'm the one who's still going to get in the water first." you put your hands on your waist and eyed her defiantly, provoking her.
"ha! funny, babe. i don't know if you remember who's the professional athlete here is and who is used to ice cold baths. so if you'll excuse me, i have some humbling to do." she gave you a smug smile and headed towards the water. when a bigger wave came and splashed against her, droplets hitting her back, she winced at the sudden cold, "fuck!"
you let out a laugh, "oh i'm so humbled! thank you, leah." you ran more into the water when her cold hands grabbed you once again to prevent you from going any further. you squirmed in her hold, "off, williamson!" you were trying to move forward but with leah's strong arms holding you back, you both lost your balance when a bigger wave came by and both of you fell into the water.
you gasped for air as you came up and splashed leah's face, "now we both lost, idiot."
"umm, i'm almost certain i was the first to fall over." leah sent you a wink as she swam away on her back.
"you were so not!" you rushed to swim after her. once you reached her, only your head was out of water and your feet couldn't reach the ground. leah wrapped her arms around your waist and smashed her salted lips against yours. you smiled into the kiss, your arms reaching behind her neck when you felt leah's hands meddling with your bikini's knot and untie your bikini top.
you quickly pulled away and grabbed at your loosening top, "leah!" you scolded her as she laughed. "you are insufferable!"
"put on sunscreen." you told leah, who was laying on her stomach by the sun as you were chilling on your towel in the shade.
"it's not that hot, y/n, i'm fine." leah mumbled, her face pressed into the chair lounge, eyes closed, trying to take a nap. "the sun is still the sun, put on sunscreen." you warned her once again.
"i'm fine."
"no, you're british."
leah grumbled but just turned her head to the other side, ignoring you.
you groaned at her stubbornness and grabbed the sunscreen. "i swear you're going to be the death of me." you huffed under your breath as you started spreading sunscreen across her back, arms and legs. of course when you reached her ass, leah had the nerve to giggle and say "you just wanted an excuse to touch me, didn't you?" you rolled your eyes and grabbed her bikini bottom to pull it up, giving her somewhat of a wedgie to shut her up. leah yelped, surprised and slapped your hands away.
when you finished, you gave her a smack on the ass and laid back down on your towel by the shade where it was not too hot but not cold either, perfect for a nap. "thank you babyyy, i love you." leah turned her head to you with a sleepy smile. "i love you too, you stubborn brit."
after a little while, you feel a body scooch over on your lounger. you opened your eyes to see a sunburnt leah on her front. she gave you a guilty smile, "i forgot?"
"babe." leah poked your cheek, waking you up from your nap.
"hm?" you asked, opening your eyes groggily.
"let me sit between your legs, we're playing sudoku." she was quick to spread your legs a bit and sitting in front of you, back pressed against your front. you accepted the new position, too comfortable to argue. you repositioned the sun loungers back to sit up more straight. you wrapped your arms around leah's waist but she handed you a pencil.
you frowned in confusion, "you want me to help you?" she scoffed, "as if, love. no. i'm doing a sudoku on this page and you're doing one on this page." she pointed at the next one. "it's a competition." she stated. "no shit, sherlock." you mocked and grabbed the pencil from her, starting your sudoku.
"i'm sorry, babe. i am just really really good. i guess you could say it was an unfair competition. after all, you were playing with world class sudoku player." leah grabbed the sudoku book and threw it next to your other belongings, turning to you with a smirk.
you fake laughed at her and pushed her out of your lounger, making her fall in the sand.
now it was you who scooched over leah's lounger in the sun, "baby, i'm cold."
the sun was starting to set and you decided to move to leah's side where the sun still hit and you could warm up a bit. leah sat up and wrapped her arms around you and you leaned back on her chest. she started placing lazy kisses on your cheek, moving down towards your neck. you couldn't help but close your eyes and smile, being in leah's arms, warm, and feeling her lips press into your skin. this was peace.
leah moved her lips to you ear and whispered, "i'm sorry for being annoying, love." you opened your eyes to look up at her and frowned, "heyy. i love that you're an insufferable-" you kiss her, "annoying-" you kiss her again, "competitive-" and again, "brat." you give her one final hard kiss and smile up at her.
she has a bashful smile on her face now, "and i'll continue being your brat, for as long as you want me." she pulled you closer to her and pressed her lips softly against yours. you smiled and rested your head back on her shoulder, lazily kissing her back. these were the moments you treasured the most, the no pressure from outsider factors in your life, the relaxing feeling of your girlfriend against you, her soft lips carefully kissing yours, as if there was no rush in the world, and she could kiss you forever and ever.
you stayed like that for a few more minutes, just bashing in the warm sunset and kissing each other slowly before leah's hands start to roam your back and lay on your ass. you adjusted yourself a bit to give her more access and kissed her a bit harder. she knew what you liked, but you had to remember yourself this was not the place. you reluctantly pulled away and warned her, "leah…"
"hmm?" she smiled smugly. "you either stop or we go home." "but it's so nice out here." she said, her eyes wandering to your chest and leaned closer to your ear, "and so much emptier now." you looked around and most families and groups of people were gone, probably getting ready to shower and go out to dinner.
"we're still not doing it at the beach." you giggled at her pout. "but it would be so spontaneous and fun." she wiggled her eyebrows.
you stared at her, giving her a knowing look, "so you wouldn't mind if i was exposed like that?" leah shrugged, "no." you raised your eyebrows, "oh really?" you asked, challenge in your tone. your hands reached behind your back and leah sat up more straight, giving you a hesitant look. "so it's fine if other people look at what only you look?" you start untying your top with a smirk. you knew leah too well and with her possessiveness, she wasn't gonna let you show others what only she could see when you were at your most intimate.
leah knew the moment earlier back in the ocean was harmless as no one was close enough to you two and your whole bodies were underwater except for your heads. but now? her hands quickly reached for top and tied it back, making sure it was tight enough and gave you a glare.
"hotel. now."

Night off
Tumblr media
(This is probably the fluffiest fic I have written. I just can't stop imagining Alexia and her daughters. I hope to write more on the little family over time. Feel free too send in any head canons or requests on Alexia's little girls. Inspiration has struck! Hope you enjoy! Feedback encouraged 🫶🩵)
When Mapí and Ingrid suggested a sleepover, you thought that it meant you and Alexia would be staying over too but they insisted that you and Alexia get some much-needed alone time. Alexia didn’t even hesitate to accept as she thought of all the things, she could finally do to you in an empty house. The walls haven’t heard her name being screamed in a while and she doesn’t want them to get used to that.
Alexia had gotten a few new things recently as a gift for herself that she has desperately wanted to use on you, but she didn’t just miss making love to you, she missed spending quality time with just you. A phone call was made, and she now had a reservation at your favourite restaurant. Emilia had been bouncing off the walls as soon as she found out she got to spend some time with her friends Sofia and Carlos.
“You have your toothbrush?” Valentina nodded as she swung of her Mami’s arm. “I go to sleepover with Carl!” Alexia chuckled as she swung her up and caught her with ease tickling her belly as she squirmed in her arms. Emilia shuffled out of her room with her Barcelona backpack wrapped around her back. “Vamos!” She shouted as she legged it for the door, she was yanked back by her bag as Alexia turned her around. “Todavía tenemos tres horas hasta que tengamos que irnos Emilia.” The little blonde groaned loudly as she slumped on the ground, “I will wait.” Alexia stared down in amusement as she ruffled her hair.
Isabella was excited too, she loved Ingrid and because she was the oldest, she got to stay up later than the rest and watch a movie with her Tia’s. “Mama where is my charger for my iPad.” You held it over your shoulder as you were cooking, “Gracias.” Isabella left a kiss to your cheek before running off to do God know what.
“Mm, smells good mi amor.” Alexia sigh as she walks in. Val is hanging onto her back as her little arms slightly choke her mother. Strong arms encircled your waist as she pressed her sturdy body against yours. Val giggled as she watched her mamí kiss your cheek, you giggled too before turning in your wife’s embrace to be greeted with two near identical smiles.
Val was the absolute perfect mix of the two of you, she had your blonde hair and Alexia’s hazel eyes and smile. As she grew into her personality it was clear that she picked up aspects of both you and your wife which only further delighted the both of you. Whereas Emilia was a carbon copy of you and Isabella was the carbon copy of Alexia.
“How are the two cutest girls standing in my kitchen right now?” You cooed as you pinched both of their cheeks and like mother and daughter a bright blush graced both of their tanned freckly faces. “Don’t let Meels and Bella here you bebita.” Alexia whispered as she playfully bounced the little girl on her back, “Debemos ser los favoritos de mamá. ¿No crees princesa?” Val placed her finger over her Mami’s lips as she giggled loudly. You couldn’t resist to leave a kiss to her chubby cheek as she patted her Mami’s shoulder in sympathy. Alexia was pouting from the lack of affection before you too took pity on her a pressed a kiss to her cheek.
Val frowned, “Kiss?” You cocked your head in curiosity, chancing a glance at your wife who mirrored your expression. “Why Mami didn’t get her special kiss?” The little girl babbled as she stared at her two parents, “Special kiss?” Alexia asked as she tried to figure out what her little girl was trying to tell her. “Sí, Emilia says Mami gets special kisses on the lips otherwise she will die.” Val’s eyes widened as she came to her own realisation, “No! Mami die? Quick Mama!”
You were absolutely blindsided at the number of emotions that your daughter just expressed but she was on the verge of a meltdown and your wife was trying to hide her laugh. Before it got out of hand you quickly partook in your favourite activity and left a sweet kiss against your wife’s familiar lips. Alexia, as always, looked happily dazed as she chased your lips. You hold her in place by her chin as you turn to smile at your now very smiley daughter, ‘Bien?” Val nodded as she rested her chin against her shoulder. “Mami won’t die if she doesn’t get her special kiss, she’ll just get upset.” Val nods in understanding but you can tell it went through one ear and straight out the other.
True to your words, Alexia was pouting heavily as she tried to push her lips towards you. You give in and kiss her until she’s satisfied, Val still has a happy smile stretching her little face once again identical to her mothers who is still sporting her cheeky grin. “Vale, stop distracting me and go get into trouble somewhere else.’ You laugh gently as they send each other sneaky smirks and with one last kiss for both of them which were happily reciprocated, and they scampered off.
After you had rounded your family for lunch and watched each of them inhale their pasta, another thing they got from their hound of a mother and ask for seconds immediately you were finally in the car. Alexia was trying to wipe some sauce of Emilia’s face much to her disgruntlement, “Vamos, just one more wipe prometto.” Emilia huffs but let’s her quickly clean her face as she pushes her hand off. You on the other hand struggled with getting a squirmy Valentina into her seat so you can fasten her seatbelt.
Finally, after a swift kick to the jaw and a wrestle to tie her seatbelt, you were on the road. Alexia’s hand was waiting for you as you quickly interlock your fingers, like clockwork she raised it to leave the softest of kisses to the back of your hand. There was a mixed reaction in the back of the car as Isabella groaned playfully, Emilia shielded her eyes and Val giggled. You bit your lip to stifle your laugh and you didn’t even need to look over to know your wife was the exact same.
Mapí and Ingrid were only delighted to welcome their extra guests as were the children as Valentina and Carlos both screamed excitedly at the sight of each other. “You two are insane, you know that?” Ingrid laughed loudly as she hugged you tightly, “I believe the words you are looking for are ‘thank you’” You glanced over at your wife who was holding Sofia like a little baby and placing kisses all over her face. An hour passed as you helped your girls settle in for the night before you decided to make your move. “Girls, we’re leaving!” You shouted and instantly there was herd of footsteps before they came into sight. Isabella hugged you tightly and promised to look after her sisters before making her Mami promise to play football with her when they got home tomorrow.
Alexia picked Val up and placed kisses all over her face, “Do you have Senor fluffles?” Val gasped in horror as she shook her head at your question, you were just about to resign to the fact you would have to drove home and get him when Alexia being the greatest mother she is pulled your daughters beloved stuffed rabbit from her back pocket. “Mr. Fluffles!” She reached out and snatched her stuffy to cuddle it close to her face. “Did you think he would let me leave without him? He’s been just as excited to come.” You smiled softly as her eyes lit up, forever infatuated with how her mother could communicate with her stuffy. “Gracias mucho Mamí. I love you.”
You watch you wife melt as she tucks her daughters face into her neck. Deciding to give them their moment you step away to say goodbye to Emilia. “Mama, I promise I won’t have too much fun without you.” The blonde whispered as if she just confessed to a murder. “Darling, promise me you’ll have all the fun tonight.” Emilia hesitated always wanting to make sure you were okay. Emilia had imprinted on you and was like your partner in crime. Just like your wife she was extremely protective over you.
Alexia walked over to say her goodbye while also catching the tail end of the adorable conversation. “Who will you have fun with?” She asked with her famous puppy eyes that neither you nor Alexia were immune too. “I will be with Mami all night, she’ll make sure I have fun.” Emilia lit up as if remembering that you were going to be with Alexia, “You love Mami!” You laughed as she held her hand out for your wife who was positively beaming at her little family. “Mami, promise me you’ll make sure Mama has fun.” Alexia took her request very seriously as she placed her hand on her heart and got down on one knee. “Te juro que me aseguraré de que mamá se divierta al máximo sin ti. Será difícil, pero me esforzaré.” Emilia seemed pleased with her commitment and the stern face quickly softened as she placed her forehead against Alexia’s. ‘Te amo Mami.” Alexia kissed her nose gently, ‘Te amo mucho mi princesa.”
After the goodbyes were said and thanks given you and Alexia were back in her cupra. You already missed their little faces, but you knew they were going to have the time of their lives with your best friend’s. It also helped to have your wife who you got very little alone time with next to you. That was also obviously on the forefront of Alexia’s mind as she wasted no time connecting your lips frantically. Gone was the sweet and gentle Ale as she immediately tugged at your hair and slipping her tongue in your mouth. You moaned into her, longing to be closer to her now that you were free from any interruptions.
Large hands hoisted your body over the middle console as she settled you in her lap, legs either side of hers. The kiss only grew more heated until whines were falling from your lips, and you were two seconds away from grinding pathetically in her lap. Alexia didn’t let up an inch as the minute you pulled away her lips were attached to your neck wanting to mark you as fast as she possibly could. It took everything in you to gently coax her away from her trance as she she stared up breathlessly at you. Pupils dilated and lips swollen, you wondered how you could go so long with just quickies and really quiet fits of passion in the middle of the night.
Her cold fingers were a stark contrast to your hot skin as she drew patterns up and down your bare back. “I’ll miss the girls, but god do I need this.” Your words were practically moaned out as you kissed her soundly again, slightly nipping at her lips to convey your need for her. Alexia could barely breath let alone respond as she leans her head back against the head rest. You laugh gently at her dishevelled form before deciding that it was now a good time to put an unfortunate stop to these activities until you were in a more respectable place. “Do you think it’s too late to ask them to keep the girls for the weekend?’ You slap her chest playfully as she chuckles at her own joke, pulling you closer so your body is flush against hers.
Before you knew it, you were throwing on your best dress as it neared seven. When you made it home after many detours and impromptu make out sessions and one very close call where Alexia nearly had you in her backseat, you and Alexia relished in the very rare silence. As much as Alexia wanted to have you properly naked in bed so she could have her way with you, she also just missed being in your presence, so she quickly grabbed a bottle of wine and two glasses, and had you cuddled up against her on the couch while watching whatever shitty reality show she pretended to hate.
Alexia threw on her best casual suit that matched your dress and was now watching you add the finishing touches to your makeup. She loved just watching you doing mundane things, absolutely mesmerised at anything you did. You reached for her wanting her to be as close to you as possible, her hand fit in yours perfectly like they always did. She brushed her lip across your shoulder blade as her arms winded around your waist, pulling you back into her.
Alexia swayed you both softly, a smile that was firmly reserved for you laying contently on her face. “Eres tan bella mi Vida.” Another kiss to the crook of your neck this time was delicately placed to confirm her words. It always baffled you that the woman behind you could still make you fall in love with her more and more every single day even though you had been together for you whole life.
You pressed a kiss of your own to her jaw as you craned your neck to meet her pretty eyes. “I love you. More than anything in this whole world.” Alexia held you tighter meeting you halfway and placing the most loving of kisses against your awaiting lips. “Vamos mi amor, taxi is outside.” You sighed happily, grabbing your bag and then your wife’s hand as she led you towards the car.
You had decided not to drive based on the fact that you were both a little bit wine drunk and had plans on having a few more glasses at dinner. Alexia was only delighted to not be driving as it allowed her to wrap an arm around your shoulder and whisper the most mind-numbing sweet things into your ear along with controlled and tamed kisses here and there. The usual booth in the corner of the restaurant was waiting the two of you as she helped you into your seat. Alexia’s arms wrapped around your shoulder again as you leaned into her firm shoulder, giggling at how you still couldn’t properly read the menu.
Nevertheless, you didn’t even need to look at the menu as Alexia ordered for you, a kind smile on her face, something that always made your heart flutter was how kind your wife was even though it was just basic manner you knew you were extremely lucky. You fell into your own little bubble as you drunkenly giggled at every little comment both of you were making.
“So, we are free for the night. What do you want to do?” Her freckles were extremely prominent in the light as she placed her chin on her hand, leaning against the table. “There is a lot of things I want you to do tonight.” You whisper softly, gently biting at her earlobe as she inhaled deeply. “No te preocupes cariño, tengo muchas cosas planeadas para cuando te lleve a la cama.” Her words rolled off her tongue as they always did when she spoke in her native tongue, and it made you want her impossibly more.
“Other than that, do you have anything else in mind?” Ever the pleaser Alexia wanted to do something fun with you, making sure she truly doesn’t waste a second. “Let’s go to the beach.” You quip making her smile brightly, so many of your dates had ended up on the beach always leading to great memories. In fact, the first time you ever talked about having kids was at the beach. You had just moved in together, finally being able to permanently move to Spain and start your life with your soulmate. You were both twenty-one, once again slightly tipsy as you lay on her chest.
“Have you ever thought about having kids?” You slowly asked, not for even one second fearing her answer as you cuddle closer to her. You could practically hear her thoughts, perks of being best friends since you could even talk. “Four maybe five.” She replied so casually as if she hadn’t been thinking about it since she first kissed you. “All girls not that it would matter but knowing the Putellas it will be girls.” You laugh softly as she nods at her long line of women in her family. “You obviously haven’t thought about it at all,” You teased as she quietly groaned, pushing you onto your back as she props herself up on one arm, “Next you’ll be telling me you have their names picked out too.” It was a joke until you saw her cheeky grin and realised that she did in fact have names ready.
Every time you go the beach you think of that moment yet now you have those girls, already secretly planning on having a fourth after each birthday passes. Your food arriving did little to break your bubble as Alexia held out her fork immediately feeding you the first bite. Like you always did in their restaurant you both hounded down your food until you nearly felt sick from how much you ate. You finished off your glass of wine while also declining the offer of desert as Alexia claimed to go to the bathroom like she did every time she wanted to secretly pay the bill. You had stopped trying to fight her on it as it genuinely ruins her night. Alexia adored spoiling you and she had plenty of money to do so not that you didn’t, you were doing quite well for yourself.
You both stumbled out of the restaurant laughing as Alexia trips over herself. As always, the gravitating pull that has always surrounded you and Alexia worked it’s magic as Alexia wrapped her strong arm around your waist and hugged you into her chest as you walked to the beach. “Can we facetime our girls tonight before they go to bed?” You asked as you stared up at her with your signature puppy eyes and Alexia couldn’t believe how alike you and Emilia were as if she wasn’t the image of Isabella. “I already gave Mapi a time mi amor.” Alexia playfully scoffed as it she couldn’t believe you would’ve thought anything else.
Your hand traced over her built chest as you make the last turn for the beach. You find a nice spot as Alexia quickly takes off her jacket and lays it out for you to sit on. For as long as you’ve known her, she has always been the most chivalrous person in the whole word. She would be the first to hold the door open, pull out you chair and offer her hand, give you her jacket or jumper whenever so much as a chill ran up your spine. She was so atuned to your emotions you hardly had to communicate at all.
Just like always Alexia lay down on her back, inviting you to cuddle up to her as you eagerly do so. A kiss pressed to your temple had you closing your eyes as your hand found her heartbeat. “I have a crazy idea.” Alexia sat up still holding you close, you shot her a curious look as she softly unzips your dress. You rolled your eyes amusedly, “Having sex on the beach? Yeah, like we’ve never done that before.” You husk as you make no move to stop her, all you get in response is her charming smile. You figured you’d make yourself useful as your fingers nimbly undo the buttons of her shirt.
Normally by know Alexia would have you at the brink of an orgasm but she hasn’t even made a move to kiss you. You put it down to the fascination she had with undressing you, as her eyes roamed over every inch of new skin revealed. Finally, she places a soft kiss on your neck before she’s suddenly standing, ridding herself of her the rest of her clothes until she’s standing in front of you fully bare.
Getting the hint, you think she’s trying to send you, you get on your knees and let your nails sink into the back of her thighs as she laughs softly, “Vamos, idiota.” She pulls you up and helps you take your panties off before you too are fully naked and suddenly, she’s pulling you towards the ocean. You didn’t even hesitate to follow her, laughing like a teenager as she doesn’t even think before diving straight in. You were a little more apprehensive in your approach but as your wife resurfaced with a mischievous smile you knew you’d be under water in the matter of seconds. Her arms wrapped around you, and you were underwater immediately, laughing loudly as you resurfaced and wiped the salt from your eyes so you could softly slap her strong shoulder.
Alexia didn’t think you could get more beautiful, but she was always proven wrong especially with how the moon reflects in your gorgeous eyes and your breath-taking smile as you threw your head back with laughter. Alexia waded over to where you were floating, “Hola.” She teased as she placed her hand on your bare hip and effortlessly hoisted you up as you instinctively wrapped your legs around her. You knocked your forehead against hers, your face was sore from smiling as you kiss her nose. Alexia’s hands trailed down your lower back until she left a teasing squeeze to your ass and left them there.
“This night was perfect. Thank you.” You whisper as you kiss her lazily, arms slithering around her neck as you card your fingers through your wet hair. “Eres perfecto, Te quiero mucho.” Alexia just had her magic ways of making you feel eternally young. Maybe because the two of you had always been in love and it just grew the more you did but you felt safe and so incredibly loved by the mother of your children and your wife.
Her hazel eyes bared into your soul and the air was knocked out of your lungs until all you could do was convey the bleeding, life altering, urgent need for the former athlete. Nothing else was on your mind, you could barely think but you finally were able to mutter the one thing you wanted most in the world at that moment. “Take me home baby.” Alexia’s smile could in fact get wider as she started out of the water, holding you up the whole way as she kissed you feverishly.
Only breaking away to whisper, “Cualquier cosa por ti mi alma.”

Several things go amiss during an El Clásico, but it is nothing that cannot be fixed with a little love and bravery.
(a/n: This might be a stretch to the imagination, but let’s just pretend that all the RM/Barcelona games are played at bigger stadiums in this universe. Also Marta Cardona still plays at RM in this as well, because I said so <3)
Ingrid and Mapi had made a small list of rules regarding their daughter when she was born. Some of them included things like:
4. She would not attend any games at stadiums bigger than Johan Cryuff until she was three years old.
7. She would never go to a Spain camp or a Spanish national team game unless situations change drastically.
12. She would take turns being their mascot, unless it was a big event for one of their teammates, and they wanted Elena as their mascot.
All of them had been good additions to the list, and they had stuck to their guns on it. They were made for her safety, to make sure that she wasn’t overwhelmed or overstimulated as a young child, or put in situations that could negatively affect her as such a young child. They did not regret their choices, but it did lend itself to an interesting situation just a few weeks after Elena’s third birthday.
Ever since she had been born, all of the Barcelona vs. Real Madrid games had been played at large arenas, beyond the capacity that they wanted Elena to experience at such a young age. And just as they said, the toddler had never been to a Spain national team camp or game. She readily came to the Norwegian camps and games, but Mapi strictly forbade her from coming to Spains.
When the Spanish defender had made the decision to go back to the Spanish national team, it wasn’t something she had taken lightly. But Pina and Patri wished to go back, and the brunette both wanted to protect her friends, and play for her country again.
But hell would freeze over before she let her baby anywhere near that environment, near the coaches and structures that had played a hand in so much abuse, both physically and mentally.
It was better for Elena this way, and Mapi preferred it that way. But it also meant that several of the Real Madrid girls who Mapi wasn’t necessarily as close with, had never met Elena.
So when El Clásico is scheduled for early January at Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, the mothers realize that it will be their first time getting to bring Elena to such an event. She had just turned three a few weeks ago, and they figured it was as good of a time as any to introduce her to the environment of a larger game, still safe with the two of them.
And as it turned out, Mapi was the one who got Elena as her mascot that day. Which meant that early in January, the center back stood in the starting eleven lineup with her daughter on her hip, bouncing her lightly as they waited to walk out onto the pitch.
Elena was slightly overstimulated, the roar of the crowd outside of the tunnel and the sheer size of the place around her slightly overwhelming for the young girl, so she was happy to cling to her mother’s side. She looked around at everything for a while, before settling on waving back at her Mama, who was standing in line behind her, holding the hand of another little boy.
Mapi waved forward at Misa Rodríguez and Marta Cardona, who were both pointing at Elena with excitement. The Barcelona defender smiled, rubbing her daughter’s back up and down softly as she nodded - confirming that the two players would get to meet the little girl today.
But it’s an exchange Elena misses entirely, only focusing fully back on her Mami when the players begin to walk out to the stadium properly.
It’s an early evening game, the sun just beginning to set as Mapi tickles Elena’s stomach as they walk out, pointing at all the fans and explaining everything to her daughter. The little girl tucks herself into the smaller defenders side, happily pressed up against Mapi as she takes everything in, curious if not a little anxious.
It’s the biggest environment she’s ever been in, but Mapi finds that their daughter settles quite quickly, waving at all the people as they stand in a line.
“Hola!” Elena calls out happily, and the brunette smiles as many of the fans wave back, well aware of who was in the defender's arms.
“I love you mi sol,” Mapi murmurs, pressing a kiss to her daughter's temple before she passes the little one to Irene, who would not be playing in the match, but rather resting. Ingrid comes over to kiss Elena’s forehead once before she runs toward the backline, leaving Mapi to jog after her, still looking at their daughter.
“Adios Mami, good luck!” Elena called out as Irene carted her away, remaining happily placed in the older defender's arms for the remainder of the game.
The game doesn’t end up being too hard of a match for Barcelona, with a scoreline of 5-0 in their favor. Ingrid had even scored one of their goals, a header off of a corner set piece they had played.
When the final whistle blew, Irene released Elena and watched carefully as she ran straight to Ingrid, who was closer to the little girl than her wife. The Norwegian turned easily, opening her arms as she crouched down, scooping the toddler up into her arms and pressing kisses all over her head.
“You won!” Elena cheered as she giggled, and Ingrid nodded, sweaty and tired but excited nonetheless. It had been a good match, and the crowd was rowdy and roaring around them, clearly equally as elated with the win.
“We did!” Ingrid responded happily as she bounced her daughter on her hip, clapping her hands together as best as she could as she held her daughter, looking around at her teammates with a big smile on her face.
The Norwegian headed toward the bench, intent on getting some water, when she was intercepted by one of the staff members.
“They need you for media,” she explained with a grimace, her voice urgent, and the dark haired woman nodded her head in understanding as she looked quickly toward her wife. The Spaniard was standing off toward their bench, talking to some teammates.
“Of course, let me just do a hand off real quick,” Ingrid explained, rushing over to place Elena down a few paces from where Mapi’s back was turned to them, as she hears her name being called more urgently. “You go over to Mami, okay Elena?” Ingrid explained as she brushed the little girl's sandy blonde curls back, and she received a small nod in response from her daughter.
“María!” Ingrid called out as she turned around, running over to where they needed her for media. But just as she called out and turned away, Mapi started walking forward, away from her daughter as she was called to meet with one of the staff members. Ingrid’s call for her wife is lost in the crowd, and suddenly Elena is left standing on the sidelines of the pitch, with neither of her parents really in sight.
The little girl looks around, hoping that someone in her Mami and Mama’s team will notice her standing all alone, but everyone is distracted. And the loud, rambunctious crowd that she didn’t mind so much when her Mami was by her side, suddenly seemed much scarier than it had a minute ago to the toddler.
Elena doesn’t know this stadium like she does Johan Cryuff, but there are similarities. She turns around, eyeing the tunnel that she finds similar to the one in Johan, and she makes a run for it, weaving through legs in her quest to get to somewhere a little more quiet and contained.
Once she gets there, she realizes that she’s maybe made a bit of a mistake. Because suddenly nothing really looks familiar, and the young girl struggles with what to do. At Johan, you turned right to get to the Barcelona changing room, so that’s exactly what she does.
The little girl is near close to tears, and desperately hoping that she’ll stumble across the locker room, or one of the Barcelona players that she knows. She’s simply kept walking, going down hallway after hallway, trying to find something or someone familiar. By the time she decides that she should turn back around, she’s so lost she doesn’t know how to get back out to the field, and there are tears beginning to brim in her eyes.
Elena comes to a halt in one of the intersections of a hallway as she realizes that she just wants her Mami and Mama, and she doesn’t know what to do. She isn’t the type to wander off, and she’s never been lost like this before. Armed with exactly no experience or skills in coping with such overwhelming feelings, the little girl can do nothing but burst into tears, which stream down her cheeks at a rapid pace as she stands there helplessly.
Misa had been pacing up and down an abandoned hallway in Lluís Companys, staving off tears of her own, her face red as tears brimmed in her eyes. She was frustrated with her performance, with her team's performance, and she needed a second to calm herself down before talking to her teammates or the press, she had decided.
What she didn’t expect, however, was to hear someone else burst into tears, in what sounded like the hallway down from her. Misa pauses, confused by how high pitched and small the noise sounded. It didn’t sound like one of her teammates, and when she rounds the corner, she is entirely unprepared for what she finds.
There is a toddler, a little girl standing alone in the completely empty hallway, her shoulders heaving with the force of her cries, her hands covering her face. She has a little Barcelona kit top on, with the number 23 on it but the last name León across it. The Madridista immediately knows who it is, but what she doesn’t quite understand is why Mapi León and Ingrid Engen’s daughter is sitting in the middle of a hallway on the away side of the stadium.
“Niña? Elena?” Misa calls out softly, walking toward the little girl, who looks up at her when she hears her name called.
Elena looks up, finding a woman she doesn’t know walking toward her, and the first emotion that pours through her is fear. The woman is tall, like Mama, but her face is flushed and she’s wearing an alarmingly bright red jersey and shorts that the young girl doesn’t recognize. Her hands are large, considering that they are encased in goalkeeper gloves, but Elena doesn’t quite realize they are just gloves in her stressed state.
All she registers is that there is a large, unknown woman walking toward her with big, scary hands, and if she was panicked before, it was nothing compared to now. She lets out a fearful squeak as she cowers from Misa, taking several unsteady steps back.
“Hey, it’s okay, I am not going to hurt you niña,” Misa promises, even though she herself is cringing at her words. She’s never felt more like a child predator than in this moment, despite her intentions being more than pure. The goalkeeper had been excited to meet Elena, even more so after the loss, honestly. All of the girls often spoke about how much they adored the little girl, how smiley and kind she was. Misa felt like she could use just a little bit of that energy after the frustrating loss.
And here the smiley little girl was, trying to get away from Misa because she was scared of her. It cracked the Spaniard’s heart right in half, and if she wasn’t upset before, she most definitely was now.
Elena looked behind herself, finally and thankfully spotting a familiar face that had just turned toward the hallway toward the two of them. The Spaniard and Norwegian’s daughter ran as fast as her little legs could carry her, beelining for the Barcelona player who had just turned the corner with Marta and Olga next to her.
Salma had just been coming back to talk to Misa with Marta when all the sudden she felt something slam into her legs, nearly sending her toppling over.
“What the hell—o Elena!” Salma quickly corrected, trying to take in the scene in front of her with complete confusion. The little girl was cowering behind Salma’s legs, holding onto the forward for dear life, practically shaking. Salma instinctively placed her hand over the little girl’s hair, smoothing her curls as she looked up to see Misa walking slowly toward them.
“Elena? What’s going on?” Salma asked helplessly, lost on what to do as she looked between the three Real Madrid players for some semblance of guidance.
Elena had always loved Salma, from when she was a baby. The forward never knew what to do with the little girl, especially when she was younger. She had no experience with children, and she found herself often stunted and awkward in her interactions with Mapi and Ingrid’s daughter, but Elena’s love for her transcended any superfluous worries or awkwardness Salma expressed.
“Scary,” Elena whispered as she pointed toward Misa timidly, her grip on Salma tightening as she tucked her head behind the young Barcelona player's legs. Salma looked up with a heartbroken expression, watching as Misa bit her lip to keep from crying, keeping her distance.
The goalkeeper knew that some people thought she was scary. She got it, she really did. She had an RBF that could probably win an award, and a very intense personality. But it was one thing for a conscious adult to call her scary, and another for a little girl who she had been so excited to meet to call her that. The goalkeeper's heart sank at the realization that this was how Elena was always going to remember her, as the scary woman who tried to kidnap her when she was three years old.
Salma looked between Olga and Marta, silently begging for help. She still had no clue what to do, and appeared to be rather paralyzed by indecision.
It’s Olga who crouches down so that she’s level with the little girl, her voice soft and kind.
“Are you lost niña?” The defender asked gently, and Elena poked her head out from its spot against Salma’s calf, nodding slightly. Her lower lip wobbled heavily, but she wasn’t actively crying, so they all took it as a win.
Elena regarded Olga kindly, if not a bit shyly. The two women with Salma were wearing white, nowhere near the angry red that the other, larger woman was, and the little girl didn’t find them nearly as frightening, all things considered.
“Come on, why don’t we take you back to your Mamis,” Olga decided, holding her hand out for the young girl. Elena took it carefully, but not before reaching for Salma’s hand, making sure that the forward was still holding onto her.
Salma sent the little girl what she hoped was an encouraging smile as they began to walk out toward the pitch. The Barcelona forward wound them down the confusing hallways, with Olga holding Elena’s other hand while Marta carefully wrapped her arm around the goalkeeper. Misa was fighting to keep it together as they all ventured back out to the stadium pitch together.
After a few minutes of walking, Elena let out a small whine, looking up at Salma with big, wet eyes.
“Carry?” She asked, letting go of Olga’s hand in favor of staring up at the tall forward hopefully, tugging lightly on her kit top. Salma looked around at the other girls, terrified and scared of disappointing the little girl. They all looked back at her expectantly in that moment, and she was struck with the fact that she was the one with the most experience with Elena, of the group. It both calms her and terrifies her at the same time, somehow.
“Uh…sure!” She laughed nervously, reaching down to pick Elena up, gripping her under her arms. The forward was used to dealing with the toddler when she was planted firmly on the ground, and she hadn’t carried the sandy blonde girl since she was a baby. She had been so scared to drop the baby that she had shook anxiously the whole time, until Mapi took pity on her and took her daughter back.
But she tries to remember how Mapi and Ingrid do it, settling Elena on her hip as she clings to the little girl for dear life. She would never forgive herself if she dropped her, and she knew she would never hear the end of it from the rest of the team if she did. They were all highly protective of her, a fact that they all prided themselves on.
As the five of them walked out toward the pitch, they had no idea the chaos that was awaiting them out on the field.
After her interview had ended, Ingrid had walked back over to her wife with a pep in her step, still overjoyed at the win and the goal she had scored.
Mapi wasn’t hard to find, standing with the assistant coach, discussing a few tactics from the game after he had called her over to talk about some of their defensive lapses. Their daughter was nowhere in sight, so the Norwegian assumed that Mapi had passed her off to one of their teammates, but when she looked around, she couldn’t see Elena anywhere.
“Who did you give Elena to?” Ingrid asked, a crease appeared in her forehead as her eyebrows furrowed together. Mapi looked back at her with equal confusion, shaking her head.
“You have Elena, not me. She went to you after the game,” the Spaniard insists, now beginning to grow confused. Ingrid’s eyebrows flew into her hairline at that statement, shaking her head.
“I gave her to you ten minutes ago, I sent her your way and called out to you,” Ingrid explains, and Mapi pales at the realization that she had never received her daughter.
“I did not hear you, and she never came over to me!” Mapi cried, looking around wildly for her daughter. When she cannot see her anywhere on the pitch, her worry only balloons. “Oh my god, she is lost. She is not here!” The brunette cried out, panic washing over her in waves as she realized what this meant.
The ironic thing was that generally, Ingrid was the anxious one between them. She was the one who worried for Elena, the one who baby proofed the house and took first aid classes and sat in the back of the car with her when she was the baby.
But Ingrid was also exceptional in a crisis, and this was no different.
Mapi, however? Not so good in a crisis, at least a non-football related crisis, that was.
“Oh my god, Ingrid, she could be anywhere!” Mapi pitched as she clawed at her chest, her throat tightening with anxiety as she whipped her head around, looking for any sign of the little girl.
“Do not panic Mapi, she has to be here somewhere. Come on, let’s go find her,” Ingrid insisted, forcing herself to remain calm as she pulled her panicking wife with her as she began to inform people, everyone scrambling to begin looking for the young girl.
They alerted security, sent people all over the stadium to look for her as the Norwegian drug her wife back toward the Barcelona bench.
“This was the last place I left her, so we should stay here. She’s around here somewhere, we just have to find her!” Ingrid insisted as she turned to Irene, who had come over as she got wind of the situation. Hot on the tails of the older defender is the Barcelona captain, looking close to tears herself.
“Is Elena really lost? Where could she have gone? We must find her!” Alexia cried, baby hairs escaping her ponytail as she looked around, clearly frazzled and stressed at the news of the curly haired little girl being lost.
“Yes she is gone–” Ingrid began, only to be cut off before she could even really start her sentence.
“Well we must search for her then!” Alexia interrupted, looking around wildly, her own panic growing.
“Alexia, this is not even your child! If anyone should be allowed to panic, it should be us!” Mapi interjected, her stress seeping into her tone as she gestured wildly with her hands. Alexia let out a huff of disapproval at that, clearly in disagreement.
“She is my goddaughter, I love her too!” Alexia insisted, the two squabbling uselessly as Ingrid watched on with an unimpressed expression.
“If I were not more aware I would assume that these two were the mothers, and not me,” Ingrid mumbled under her breath to Irene, who couldn’t resist letting out a small peal of laughter that she quickly masked as a cough when Mapi and Alexia looked toward her pointedly.
“Who knew that all it took to reduce La Reina and the fearless Mapi León into a puddle of stress was losing a toddler one singular time,” Irene joked back, where she was promptly met with more unimpressed looks from her teammates, and a chuckle from Ingrid.
But even the Norwegian, who was generally cool in a crisis, was beginning to grow worried as time stretched on. Her eyebrows remained furrowed together, her foot beginning to tap nervously as she looked around, letting out a nervous sigh.
“She’s going to be fine, Ingrid. She’s just wandered off somewhere, kids do it sometimes. We lost Mateo in the store once, and found him in the freezer aisle cuddling with some old lady's little dog,” Irene soothed, and Ingrid sent her a grateful smile, even if she didn’t look convinced. She knew the stories, she knew it was normal, but it didn’t make it any easier when it was her own child.
She just wanted Elena back in her arms, proof that she was safe and sound, and to not let her daughter out of her sight until she was twenty seven years old.
“How about we go check the locker room again?” Irene suggests, and the dark haired woman jumps at the opportunity to do something, nodding insistently.
“That’s a good idea,” Ingrid confirmed, and she was just about to head back with her fellow defender when she heard it.
“Mami! Mama!” Elena called out from her spot in Salma’s arms, and both Ingrid and Mapi were booking it toward their daughter as soon as they heard it. The forward was entirely unprepared for both the Spaniard and Norwegian to plow into her, raining kisses down onto her head as they plucked her from Salma’s arms. Mapi hugged Elena tightly to her, as Ingrid pressed into her space, both of them crowding their daughter with an abundance of love and relief, the panic washing off of them at the sight of their precious little girl back safely in their arms.
The forward flipped her braids over her shoulder in relief at the hand off, nearly stumbling over when Ingrid stepped away from her wife and daughter, pulling her younger teammate into a tight hug as Mapi cradled Elena to her chest.
“Thank you so much Salma,” Ingrid murmured in the space above the forward’s shoulders, and despite accepting the hug, the younger woman shook her head.
“It was Misa who found her,” Salma promised, and the dark haired woman wasted no time in moving toward the Real Madrid player, stepping into her space and immediately hugging the goalkeeper, regardless of the fact that they hardly knew one another. Elena looked up from her spot against Mapi to see her Mama moving toward the scary woman, and she let out a whimper as she turned, burrowing her face into Mapi’s sternum with fear.
As the panic subsides from her chest slowly, Mapi takes stock of the whole situation. Elena seemed scared of the Real Madrid players, cowering into her arms as Ingrid hugged Misa tightly. Everyone else seemed focused on Misa, with Salma, Olga, and Marta watching her wife and the Real Madrid goalkeeper. The goalkeeper seemed on the brink of tears, something that the center back assumed was because of the game.
She was informed otherwise when Marta approached her carefully, her voice soft as came close to the Barcelona defender.
“Misa found her in the hallway, but I think she caught the little one in a bad spot, and now I think she’s a little scared of her,” Marta explained, looking toward the Spanish goalkeeper with worry before looking back at the Barcelona center back. Misa was getting a pep talk from both Ingrid and Irene, to what appeared to be little avail, if the tears in her eyes were any indication.
Mapi nods slowly, rubbing her hand soothingly over Elena’s back, up and down softly. Her daughter is already a hundred times calmer, having regulated herself well in her Mami’s arms. That being said, Mapi knew they needed a few moments to regather themselves before they reintroduced her to Misa, if they could.
“Okay, thank you for letting me know. Give us a few minutes?” Mapi asked gently, and Marta nodded before leaving, heading back to her teammate's side.
It was just a few moments later that Ingrid appeared at her wife’s side, the Spaniard wordlessly passing her daughter to the Norwegian, who held her close and rained kisses down on her.
“It’s okay, we’re right here Elena,” Ingrid promised, her own worry and stress evaporating at the content little sigh their daughter let out as she was held tightly to the Norwegians side. It was after a few minutes of holding her that Elena leaned back, looking calmer, if not a little more worried.
“‘M sorry, got lost,” Elena explained gently, her lower lip wobbling as tears brimmed in her eyes again. Ingrid shook her head slightly, her words soft and soothing.
“You do not have to be sorry, Elena. Just try to stay close to me or Mami next time, or someone you know, si? We do not want you to get lost where we cannot find you, because that would make us very scared, okay?” Ingrid explained carefully, and when she finished Elena nodded, a small smile finally appearing on her face as she settled in her mothers arms, back to the happy little girl she normally was. That was something wonderful Ingrid and Mapi both loved about their daughter being so small, how resilient she always was in situations like this.
Mapi looked back over toward Misa, her heart breaking when she saw that the tears had broken through finally, her head buried in her hands.
Elena looked from her mother to the Real Madrid goalkeeper, her little eyebrows worried together at the sight.
“Mami, is she okay?” The sandy blonde girl asked as she looked toward Misa, recognizing the signs of someone crying. Mapi looked toward her wife for a moment, and after receiving a nod of approval from the Norwegian, the Spaniard took her daughter into her arms from her fellow center back.
“That is my friend Misa,” Mapi explained to her daughter, her words slow and gentle. She stays where she is, but tries to convey her warmth to the woman regardless. “She has had a bad day, and I think she is just expressing that by crying, like you do sometimes too when you are upset,” Mapi continued, watching as her daughter stared at the goalkeeper with concern painted in her small face.
“Friend? Tía?” Elena asked curiously, clearly trying to work everything out as Mapi nodded.
“Yes Tía Misa, she is one of my very good friends. She is very kind and funny, just like you!” The Spaniard tried, and Elena looked over at her skeptically, but she chose to believe her Mami.
“Maybe we cheer up?” The little girl asked, and Mapi raised her hand to run it over Elena’s cheek gently, in a soothing manner.
“Are you sure, El? You do not have to, I know you thought she was scary earlier. I promise she is not though, she is one of Mami’s friends,” Mapi promised, not wanting to pressure her daughter to do anything she didn’t want to.
“Cheer her up,” Elena decided, wriggling her body slightly to signal her mother to move. She stiffened suddenly as she looked from Misa to Mapi, with some fear clearly still present in her tone. “You come too,” she checked quickly, relaxing back into the Spaniard when Mapi nodded her agreement to the statement.
Salma, Olga, and Marta had led Misa over to the Real Madrid bench, which was where Mapi brought Elena over to. The goalkeeper was sitting on the bench, her head in her hands as silent sobs wracked her shoulders.
Marta looked over at Mapi with a hopeful expression as the Spaniard placed her daughter on the ground, taking Elena’s hand as she led her over to Misa.
The young girl held her mothers hand carefully as she made her way up to the woman who had been wearing the angry red jersey. She was now wearing a white jacket over her kit top, and something about seeing her when Elena was in a calm state, and the lack of such an aggressive kit top helped to soothe the little girl’s initial concerns.
“Hola,” Elena said softly, her voice small but fierce in its kindness as she stopped a few steps from the goalkeeper. Misa paused, looking up carefully, unable to keep the surprise off her expression when she realized who was in front of her, looking at her carefully.
The goalkeeper looks up at Mapi in shock before she is wiping the tears from her eyes, offering a watery smile to the toddler.
“Hola,” she responded, unsure of what else to say. Elena took another step toward her, offering a small smile.
“My name is Elena,” she expressed quietly, watching as Misa rubbed the tears from her eyes.
“Hi Elena, I’m Misa,” the goalkeeper repeated, trying not to burst into more tears. There was no fear in the little girl's eyes, only curiosity and kindness. Misa feels hope flying into her chest at the little girl's face, at the thought that maybe this whole situation was salvageable. Elena looks at the spot next to Misa, her eyebrows furrowing together in curiosity.
“What are those?” Elena asked gently, pointing to the abandoned goalkeeper gloves that were sitting next to the Madridista. The Spaniard reached for them, holding them out to the little girl softly.
“These are my goalkeeper gloves. Would you like to see them?” Misa asked gently, her voice hopeful. The little girl looked back at her mother for a second before releasing Mapi’s hand, nodding as she walked over to Misa, right up to where she was sitting, placing her hand on the goalkeeper's knee.
“Here, you can put them on,” Misa said softly, everyone watching with relief as the goalkeeper slid her giant gloves onto Elena’s little hands, holding them on to help to keep them from falling off.
The Real Madrid player was absolutely positive that Elena healed something within her when she giggled, leaning into Misa as she moved her hands with the gloves still over them, laughing happily at the sight. It was the goalkeeper's first real smile of the day, and her heart leapt into her throat when Elena climbed into her lap, beginning to talk her toddler nonsense to Misa, who held onto every single word she said.
The Madridista carefully held Elena to her, making sure she was secure with no chance of falling. She looked up when the toddler gasped, seeing Pina and Jana still out on the field, passing the ball listlessly back and forth as they spoke about something.
Elena turned back to Misa with excitement, the goalkeeper gloves falling off her hands in excitement.
“Come play Tía Misa?” The toddler asked hopefully, her eyes big and filled with joy at the prospect of getting to play with all of her friends. Misa looked toward Mapi, who nodded her head in agreement before she smiled brightly, agreeing with Elena.
“Come on!” Elena cheered as she took Misa’s hand after being set on the ground by the goalkeeper, and dragging the taller woman toward the younger girls.
Ingrid had come over to join Mapi, Salma, and Marta, as the right winger shook her head in disbelief. Misa was sitting criss-cross applesauce on the ground, rolling the ball toward Elena, cheering when the toddler tried to kick it.
When Elena finally managed to hit the ball back with some semblance of accuracy, Jana and Pina immediately cheered loudly. Elena giggled at both of them, smiling before she ran over to Misa, collapsing into a hug as she wrapped her arms around the goalkeeper, who hugged her back just as fiercely, a huge smile pulling at both of her cheeks.
“What is it about children that just…heals any wrongdoing?” Marta asked wistfully, and Ingrid chuckled as Mapi shook her head.
“You can’t not love them,” she acquiesced, letting out a final sigh of relief as they all moved to join the girls in playing with the toddler, who happily giggled away at all the attention raining down on her.

'Who would...'
The press room buzzed with anticipation as Leah and Y/N settled into their seats, bracing themselves for another round of the media's mind games. Cameras flashed, and microphones hovered expectantly as the reporters prepared to unleash their latest concoction upon the unsuspecting duo.
Leah shot Y/N a sidelong glance, her lips curling into a wry smirk. "Let's see what kind of madness they've cooked up for us this time, shall we?"
Y/N chuckled, her eyes dancing with mischief. "Bring it on, Captain. We can handle anything they throw at us."
The first question sailed in like a curveball, aimed straight at Leah's deft wit. "Who would be most likely to get lost on the way to an away match?"
Leah's brow furrowed in mock indignation. "Well, considering Y/N here has the sense of direction of a lost puppy, I'd say the odds are in her favor."
Y/N gasped dramatically, clutching her heart. "Hey, I'll have you know that I have a perfectly fine sense of direction. It's just... selective sometimes."
Their banter flowed effortlessly as they navigated through each absurd scenario, their camaraderie evident to anyone paying attention. But beneath the laughter, Leah felt a familiar tug of longing – a desire to drop the facade and confess the truth to the world.
Then came the question that nearly tripped her up. "Who would be most likely to have a secret crush on a teammate?"
Leah's pulse quickened, her mind racing to find a suitable diversion. But before she could formulate a response, Y/N interjected with a playful grin.
"Well, it's no secret that Leah here has quite the soft spot for our star striker. Isn't that right, Captain?" Y/N teased, nudging Leah gently with her elbow.
Leah's breath caught in her throat, a flash of panic flickering across her features. But then, as if by some stroke of luck, Y/N swooped in to save the day.
"Of course, I'm just kidding," Y/N continued, her tone light and playful. "Leah's heart belongs to Arsenal, through and through."
Leah exhaled a silent sigh of relief, grateful for Y/N's quick thinking. She shot Y/N a grateful smile, her heart swelling with affection for the woman who always knew exactly what to say.
As they wrapped up the interview, Leah couldn't shake the feeling of gratitude that washed over her. With Y/N by her side, she knew she could face anything – even the relentless scrutiny of the media. And as they walked out of the press room, hand in hand, Leah felt a surge of hope blooming within her.
Maybe, just maybe, their love didn't have to remain hidden forever.

The not so secret.
Leah Williamsom, the stalwart defender of Arsenal Women's Team, sauntered onto the pitch, a facade of nonchalance painted on her face. She glanced over at 'Y/N', her secret girlfriend, who stood beside her, radiating warmth and laughter.
"You ready for another round of pretending to be 'best mates'?" Leah muttered under her breath, her tone laced with sarcasm.
Y/N flashed her a mischievous grin. "Always, love. We're the dynamic duo, remember?"
The routine was all too familiar. Interviews, games, public appearances – they were always together, yet never truly together. The rest of the team knew about their relationship, but they kept it under wraps, afraid of the scrutiny that might follow if it became public knowledge.
As they faced the barrage of questions from reporters, Leah maintained her gruff demeanor, while Y/N charmed everyone with her infectious smile and witty comebacks. But beneath Leah's tough exterior, something was stirring.
During one particularly tedious interview, Y/N cracked a joke that had Leah suppressing a smirk. She admired Y/N's ability to find humor in any situation, even when they were forced to hide their true feelings.
As the season progressed, the public started to take notice of the chemistry between Leah and Y/N. Speculation ran rampant, with fans and journalists alike beginning to suspect that there was more to their relationship than just friendship.
Leah couldn't deny the flutter of warmth in her chest whenever she caught Y/N's eye or felt her touch. She found herself stealing glances at her girlfriend when she thought no one was looking, a softness in her gaze that betrayed her stoic facade.
After a particularly intense match, the team gathered in the locker room, celebrating their victory. As the teasing banter ensued, Leah felt a blush creeping up her neck when her teammates started teasing her about her undeniable fondness for Y/N.
"Looks like the captain's got a soft spot after all," one of them teased, earning a playful shove from Leah.
Y/N wrapped an arm around Leah's waist, leaning in close. "Don't worry, babe. Your secret's safe with me," she whispered, her voice filled with affection.
Leah couldn't help but smile, her heart swelling with love for the woman beside her. Despite the challenges they faced, she knew that as long as they had each other, they could weather any storm that came their way.
And as they walked out of the locker room, hand in hand, Leah couldn't shake the feeling that maybe, just maybe, it was time to let the world see the truth – that she and Y/N were more than just 'best mates' on the pitch.

in dates and stares you mentioned alexia’s obsession with r’s lips after a kiss. could you write more of that? like alexia constantly giving r sweet and stolen kisses
Stolen Kisses
sure can, here you go :) 💓
fluff, bit suggestive and clingy alexia
-
“Ale-“ you barely got a word out before your girlfriends mouth was on yours, her body pressing you further against the door as she revelled in the gasp she elicited from you whenever she got a bit rougher during kisses.
You two were meant to be getting ready for a family dinner, you had been ready until you had stood in front of the mirror applying your lipstick as the finishing touch and suddenly Alexia had turned your head towards her and kissed the freshly applied colour right back off. She just couldn’t help it, there was something about your plump lips that just drew her in and it only got worse whenever you put lipstick on.
You did your best to gently push her away, pressing another kiss onto her lips as she pouted.
“We have to go in a few minutes and I’m not letting myself get teased by Alba again because you have no self control.” Your words were accompanied by you poking a finger into her chest a few times, your girlfriend completely undeterred anyway.
This wasn’t the first time Alexia was messing up your makeup, something about you putting on red lipstick just did it for her - the issue was that you mostly wore it when you had to be somewhere, so naturally, she didn’t get her way with you often like that.
“You know I don’t need more than a few minutes to make you come mi amor.” Her voice was low and close to your ear as she leaned over your shoulder and checked for your reaction in the mirror. You kicked yourself at the quite obvious shudder that ran through you at her words, a satisfied smirk on her face at your reaction as she reached out to pull you into her side again, the large hand of hers that was now covering most of your stomach only making the tingling inside of you worse.
You knew if you didn’t act now, Alexia would get her way so you gently shoved her away again and moved her to the bathroom door.
“Get the gift we bought for your mom and wait by the car, I’ll be right there.”
She send you another pout before she left, though you just shook your head at her with a small smile before quickly wiping off the smeared lipstick and putting new one on, thankfully arriving on time and put together to the dinner.
The dinner itself was going well at first, you sitting happily next to your girlfriend, her hand on your thigh as you listened to Alba who was telling you about her last shopping trip. You got interrupted by Alexia who squeezed your thigh to get your attention, telling you that she had split a bit of her coke on herself and wanted you to help her clean it up.
You saw the stain on the light material of the suit, thankfully it had only hit her sleeve and were quick to get up, Eli playfully shaking her head at her daughter that was usually far from clumsy as you two went to the bathroom. The conversation at the table resumed immediately, nobody thinking anything weird of it just like you. Well, you were quickly corrected when you closed the bathroom door behind you, pulling Alexia towards the sink and hastily washing the sleeve with some water and then the hand soap in hopes that it won’t stain. Thankfully it was one of the less expensive suits, Alexia had an insane collection of brand ones which could only be dry cleaned and would be a pain to get the stain removed.
You were happy to see that the dark colour from the drink was quickly being washed down the drain, leaving the material with only a very light small stain - though that could also just be the darkness from it being wet. Satisfied with your result you looked up at your girlfriend, finding her already looking down at you with a very satisfied expression on her face. You were confused for a moment what she looked so righteous about before she started talking, a playful smile on her face.
“I have to spill coke on myself to get attention from my girlfriend.” She tutted, shaking her head with a pout on her face.
“Poor me.”
You couldn’t stop yourself from chuckling, the thought that she had done all of that just to get you alone and have your full attention on only her incredibly flattering. You remembered the days when you had thought that Alexia was a bit cold and too stern for your liking - the woman actually very far from this as she seemed to soak up every tiny bit of affection and attention she could get from you, revelling in being able to hold you close and especially kiss you.
You thought briefly about teasing her, simply walking out of the bathroom and making her beg for it in retaliation of all the times she had made you beg her for hours before she finally let you tip over the edge. You knew you’d pay bitterly for that one though and to be completely honest, you did also just simply want to kiss your girlfriend. So when she expectantly opened her arms you were quick to step right into them, being pulled closer as she tilted your head up and pressed her lips to yours.
You tried to keep in mind that you were still in a  public bathroom, where anyone could come in at any time and therefore it was maybe best not to overdo it. Though that thought was quickly thrown out the window at the intensity with which Alexia kissed you. Her hands wandered up to your hair, burying themselves in it as she used it to tilt your head slightly backwards and get a better angle. You opening your mouth to protest - not wanting to have messy hair that would reveal what had been going on here - was silenced by her tongue slipping in, the way she knew exactly how you liked to be kiss quickly quietening every single thought you had.
You only pulled apart for a moment before she was right back, pushing your back into the sinks as her hands wrapped around your waist this time. Alexia kept her hands a lot more to herself than usually, not willing to have sex somewhere someone could see or hear the two of you - especially since you were out with family. She honestly wasn’t sure if this had even been a good idea, the urge to keep kissing you only stronger than before instead of less and the short satisfaction she had at getting her way didn’t last as she only wanted more.
Though she did have to admit that the sight of you as you pulled back, a dazed look in your eyes and your already plump lips now a bit swollen and red definitely made this whole thing worth it. She pressed another short kiss onto them, smoothing your hair out again for you as you looked into the mirror to assess the damage. Your lipstick had already been taken off a bit from eating, since you were now done and only going to sip a bit on the rest of your drink, you decided to reapply to hopefully hide the swelling and extra redness.
You had taken your small handbag with you, a habit and also incase there was anything in there that would help Alexia get the stain out. When you pulled out your lipstick Alexia stopped you, taking it from you and pressing one last kiss on your lips before she took of the cap of the little tube and gently grabbed your chin, tilting it towards the light so she could apply it. You had to fight to stop the smile on your face at the action. It wasn’t anything new, Alexia usually preferred if you did her makeup - but once it came to your lips she was the first to hover over you and apply lipstick or lip balm, wanting to do it herself since she was so incredibly obsessed with them. You didn’t always let her because she would sometimes use this opportunity to distract you and get her way when you were already supposed to be going. Still, it was cute.
She took her time, getting it done in a few seconds before her thumb wiped directly underneath your bottom lip to remove the very slight smear that her kisses had caused. She loved seeing you wear this specific lipstick, nothing short of obsessed with the way you looked when you had the red colour on. It looked beautiful on you, even if you sometimes refused to kiss her afterwards so she wouldn’t mess it up.
When she looked back up from your lips she was met directly with your eyes, a faint blush spreading on your cheeks as you saw the pure appreciation and adoration in her look. Since she couldn’t kiss your lips now she opted for your forehead and then your nose before she grabbed your hand, finally exiting the bathroom again with you by her side.

Hot Tub
alexia x reader (blurb)
warnings: none
~~~
“Hola amor,” you said as you stepped into the hot tub by the pool. You slid onto Alexia’s lap as she wrapped her strong arms around you.
“I missed you,” she said against your lips as you kissed her softly. “You would rather hang out with Mapi doing god knows what instead of spending time with your amazing, beautiful, talented, awesome girlfriend,” she said as she pulled you so you were fully straddling her lap.
“Of course not amor, Mapi could never replace you,” you said laughing at her slight pout.
“Don’t laugh at me, amorrrrr,” she whined as her pout grew.
“I just think you are incredibly cute and adorable when you get all pouty and clingy. I love you.”
“I am not adorable, I am hot and sexy.” she replied as she ran her large hands up your thighs.
“Yes you are, but you are also adorable," you replied as you kissed her nose.
"No I am not," she said continuing to inch her hands further up your thighs.
"Then prove it," you whispered seductively in her ear knowing you had gotten her riled up. She immediately crashed her lips onto yours as her hands moved to gripping your ass to keep you steady. You kissed back lightly biting her lip lightly.
"Hola amigas, are we interrupting something," Pina said as she and Patri entered the hot tub smirking and sitting across from the two of you.
"Yes, please leave," Alexia said glaring at them.
"Amor we are in public, they can use the hot tub if they would like," you said turning around in her lap. Alexia just let out a huff as you started a conversation with the two younger girls and Mapi and Ingrid who also joined the hot tub party.
cata coll x reader r realizes cata has a protective streak, while r does not. she tries to remedy this, although it doesn't go exactly to plan. cw: creepy entitled man being gross at a bar in this. he gets a little touchy, and is promptly dealt with.
-----
It began with a seemingly harmless comment from Pina on whether similar or different people made better partners. You spent a lot of time with your girlfriend, and you’d picked up little mannerisms that the other had. As such, you thought that the two of you were more similar than you actually were.
“You and Cata are complete opposites. Cata is a hot head, she’d get into a fist fight in a second for you. You’ve watched people push her to the pitch and not lost your temper.”
You’d brushed the comment off, making a joke about how if she was right, Pina needed to find herself the most serious, most calm person on earth.
It had stuck with you, though. Was this something everyone thought? That you weren’t protective over Cata when she was with you? Did Cata think that? That you didn’t care enough to be that way? It wasn’t true, it definitely wasn’t true. You cared more for Cata than you thought possible, than you’d ever felt for anyone in all your years. Every cell, every molecule in your body loved Cata.
And sure, you were a calm person. Not outwardly aggressive on the pitch, or anywhere really. That was your reputation; cool under pressure. You shook everything off, took nothing personally. You’d never so much as had a cross word with another player on the pitch, or off of it. You didn’t argue, and you didn’t fight. Ever.
For Cata, though? For her, you’d light a match and watch the whole world burn. Cata was worth it, worth everything. It scared you that she might not know that, scared you just in general, how deeply you loved her, how all consuming it was.
As it stood, you weren’t planning on doing anything about it. Maybe you’d talk to Cata about it at some point, but you were very much someone who kept things to themselves. If you had a problem, it took a lot of coaxing from your girlfriend to get you to talk about it.
It really wasn’t intentional, what happened. A combination of things pushed the situation out of control, the biggest of them being your sudden, inexplicable insistence to protect your girlfriend.
Cata was a partier. It was well known; put her and Pina together, and combine an important win? Everyone was waking up with a hangover the next morning, whether they wanted to or not. You were very used to how rowdy she’d get in clubs, but for her part, she never really let you out of her sight. It wasn’t odd for her to get wildly possessive of you on a night out, glaring at anyone that glanced at you for too long. It had always made you feel special, but now, you were wondering if Cata wanted the same behavior from you.
The team was, as expected, out celebrating the latest El Clásico win. Cata had kept a clean sheet, and was very much looking forward to letting loose for the evening. You’d all found yourselves in a familiar club in the heart of Barcelona. The entire team was there, even Alexia, though you suspected she came to keep an eye on everyone.
For your part, you’d done well to push your current crisis out of your head, instead focusing on the spectacular performance of your girlfriend, and your own performance, which wasn’t half bad. You were in for a fun night with Cata, if not a long morning of babying her hangover, until some disgusting man decided the goalkeeper’s tight leather pants were an invitation.
Cata was further from you than she liked to be on nights out, but she’d gone up to the bar with Mario to get more drinks, and had left you safely seated next to Alexia. You watched very carefully as the man approached Cata and Mario, neither of them paying him very much attention. Even when he leaned in closer to your girlfriend, you weren’t too worried. Cata leaned away from him instinctually, stepping closer into Mario.
“Come on, beautiful, let me have your number. I can show you a good time.” He was so drunk he was slurring his words, practically falling over.
“No thanks.” Cata said back. There was a time she would have embarrassed the man, nudged him away and made a joke at his expense, but she was older, now, and more aware of how poorly that could end for her. She kept it polite and quick, trying not to show how uncomfortable she was with the man in her space.
He seemed to back off, for a second, and Cata moved away from Mario to grab 2 of the drinks the bartender was holding out for her. As soon as her back was the man opposite her, his hand was moving quickly. You blinked, almost stunned at the audacity of the man who had just gratuitously slapped your girlfriend’s ass. He must have been the stupidest man on earth, truly, seeing as though Mario instantly pushed Cata behind her and squared up to the taller man. Mariona Caldentey was an intimidating person when she wasn’t grinning from ear to ear, and she definitely wasn’t doing so now, giving the man a harsh shove to the chest.
Alexia was moving too, blinking when you beat her out of the chair, rushing off towards Cata. She, and everyone else watching the situation unfold, expected you to go to your girlfriend. They were all stunned, then, when you walked up to the atrocious man smiling smugly down at Mario, pushed your teammate gently out of the way, before balling your hand and swinging, your fist connecting with its target with a loud, revolting crunch.
How dare he lay a hand on Cata, on your Cata. Only you were allowed to slap her ass, and only when she said she wanted you to. You were angrier than you’d ever felt, but regardless, throwing that punch hadn’t been your first instinct. You’d been moving to check on Cata, when you remembered Pina’s words from earlier, and realized that this was your chance to prove to everyone, Cata most importantly, that you were just as dedicated, and just as protective of her as she was of you.
You’d had better ideas. That was clear as the man staggered backwards, and as your knuckles felt like they were splintering open. The bartender had watched the whole thing occur, and didn’t say anything as the man stumbled back towards his friends, embarrassed, clutching tightly to his nose.
“What the hell was that? He was twice your size, idiota,” Alexia scolded, spinning you around to inspect your hand as well as she could in the dim lighting. She was quickly, and unceremoniously, knocked out of the way as Cata rushed to your side, the shock of seeing you deck a grown man wearing off. Alexia gave Cata an unimpressed look, but told Cata to get you home safe, before dragging Mario, who was practically doubled over laughing, back over to the table.
Cata didn’t speak, a rarity for her, simply taking your hand very gently in hers and looking at you with an almost heartbreakingly concerned look on her face. Your hand really fucking hurt. You were pretty sure it was broken, but your attention was on Cata.
“Are you okay?” You asked quietly, mind not focused on your throbbing hand, but on your sweet girlfriend, who liked to act a lot tougher than she really was.
“I’m fine, really. Let’s go, you need a doctor.” The goalkeeper didn’t wait for a response, pulling you towards the door, past the table of your teammates. You noticed Mario giving a rather dramatic retelling of the event, just barely catching the look of joy and wonder on Mapi’s face at the news that you’d punched someone. Honestly, your teammates were all children.
“Baby, you’re drunk, you shouldn’t drive.” You reminded her, as she opened the passenger door to her car for you. You’d been planning on driving home, but with your hand the way it was, that didn’t seem all that likely.
“I’m not drunk, I didn’t even finish my first drink. We have dinner with your parents tomorrow night, I didn’t want to be hungover.” Cata dismissed, getting into the driver's seat and glancing anxiously at you. You were almost speechless at this, as Cata wasn’t really one to to think ahead to the consequences of being hungover. You smiled weakly at her, blinking away a few tears, both at how well your girlfriend loved you, and at how your hand was beginning to have its own heartbeat.
The goalkeeper leaned across the center console, pecking your cheek, before starting the car and driving in the direction of the hospital.
-----
It wasn’t that Cata seemed mad, per say, she was just being… odd. Not really in a way that would be clear to anyone else, but you knew her well enough to recognize the far off expression on her face as one she got when she was nervous. You decided the incident in the bar had upset her more than she was willing to admit, and vowed to bring it up again when you arrived home. As for now, you sat in the car, heading home from the hospital, with your arm carefully cradled against your chest, encased in a blue cast.Blue, as you’d insisted upon, and marked with a heart, as Cata had insisted. She’d charmed one of the nurses at the hospital into bringing her a sharpie, and had carefully inked the heart into the plaster, her tongue sticking out of her mouth adorably as she concentrated. Once she was satisfied, and you’d been discharged, she’d led you out of the hospital, keeping you pressed close to her body. She buckled your seatbelt for you, even though you were more than capable.
It came so easily to her, it seemed, being protective and taking care of you. She just knew what to do; knew to guide you into the house, knew to get you something to eat before leading you upstairs. She knew to help you get your pajamas on, the pain meds the hospital had prescribed made you a bit woozy, but knew to still let you do most of the work, knowing you hated to feel hovered over. That just wasn’t your skillset. You took care of Cata, yes, but in different ways. Ways that didn’t seem as significant, or as meaningful.
You were getting tired of her acting so weird, though. She came at you with a makeup wipe and even when she was gazing down at your face, meticulously cleaning it off, she avoided eye contact with you. If there was one thing you were good at, it was getting Cata to talk to you.
“You’re upset.”
She paused, nodding minutely, before moving away from you to discard the makeup wipe, and grab your skincare routine from the bathroom. You waited until she was back in front of you, smearing on your moisturizer, before speaking again.
“You’re allowed to be upset, Cata. That was a horrible experience.”
Her expression was still guarded, even as she nodded again. “I don’t like seeing you hurt.”
You shook your head. “No, I mean what happened, Cata. What that dick did.”
Cata gave you a weird look. “I’m not upset about that, bebé.”
At this, you pushed her hands away from your face, giving her a disbelieving look.
She doubled down. “I’m not. It was gross and I probably would have hit him if you hadn’t. I’m upset that you got hurt, though. That you got hurt for me.” She explained, sitting carefully next to you, as if the gentle movement of the bed under you would jostle your arm in a painful way. She was always so careful with you.
You thought she’d be happy. Not happy that you were hurt, but happy you stood up for her. You were convinced you’d be filling a gap that she’d felt, that she wouldn’t focus on your broken hand when she could focus on what you’d done for her.
“If he’d slapped my ass instead, what would you have done?” You asked after a minute, looking up at your girlfriend’s face.
Her eyebrows creased with anger at the mere thought, and there was no ounce of uncertainty in her tone. “Murder.”
You stifled a laugh, completely sure that she was serious.
“Then what’s the difference?”
“The difference is that it’s you.” Cata said rather harshly, looking at you with an intensity you weren’t used to seeing on her face. “I don’t need you to protect me.”
That stung, even if you knew she hadn’t meant it in the way it sounded. You rose from the bed, feeling embarrassment wash over you as you tried to leave the room.
“Okay, got it. Sorry.” You mumbled.
“Amor, no.” Cata sighed, grabbing your good hand and wrenching you back towards her. You stumbled slightly, only blushing more as you practically fell into your girlfriend’s lap. “I just meant… I protect you, okay? You don’t need to worry about me. I don’t want you to get hurt, even if it’s for me.”
You were quiet, not convinced. Cata looked at you searchingly for a minute, before her hand raised, pointer finger tracing a light pattern across your cheek until you raised your head to look at her.
“What is this about? You’ve never done something like this before.”
“I just thought that… maybe it bothered you. That I’m not as protective towards you. ”
“No, no. It doesn’t bother me. I like it. It feels like my job, to keep you safe. This special thing that I can do to make you feel safe.” Cata emphasized, her fingers tucking a lock of hair behind your ear, her eyes looking at you with an adorable scrunch as she tried to get her point across.
“You don’t want me to be that for you, too?” You asked.
“You don’t need to punch people for me to feel safe, you do that in… different ways. You’re soft, and you’re perfect. You give the best hugs, and you make me feel better just by speaking. I don’t need you to beat anyone up for me. I just need you.”  The goalkeeper responded softly, her voice growing quiet in the way it did whenever she expressed a vulnerability. “You don’t need to prove your love for me, bebé. I feel it all the time.”
At this, you leaned forward, burying your face in the crook of her neck. Her arms wrapped snugly around you, and Cata pressed her face into your hair, inhaling deeply, rather satisfied with herself for making you feel better.
“You always know what to say.” You mumbled. “And you look hot when you’re mad.”
Cata pulled away, throwing her head back and laughing. “You do too, bebé. I like you uninjured, though, so no more fights until I teach you how to punch.”
“I know how to punch!!” You cried resentfully, trying hard to keep a frown on your face.
When Cata’s eyes flickered between your face and your broken hand, a smirk tugging at her lips, you broke, laughing as you leaned back down against her.
“Fine. I don’t know how to punch.” You admitted begrudgingly.
“No, you don’t. You don’t need to. I’ll always be there to throw punches for you, sí?”
You were sure she would be. Cata loved a fight, on or off the pitch, but more than anything, she loved taking care of you.
⋆ ★ ⋆ ★ ⋆ ★ ⋆ ★ ⋆
you and your best friend, leah were very much oblivious to the fact that you both loved each other. moving up through the ranks in england and arsenal together had you closer than ever for the majority of your lives.
you both knew each other better than yourselves, coming as a great shock to anyone that the two of you haven’t professed your love to each other.
you and leah got on like twin flames, soulmates even. you had the same values, passions, aspirations, music, the whole works, and unfortunately for anyone that knew the both of you, you were both extremely stubborn, just as bad as each other.
you moved in together a while ago, one of the only reasons your families let you play football in london together at such a young age all those years back. the time together only strengthening the affection you had for one another.
instances of both of you being stubborn weren’t exactly hard to miss, almost an everyday occurrence for the both of you.
one day, you had a little cold and leah picked up on it before you even started to show obvious symptoms.
it all started with a little sniffle before leah began to nag you to sit down and recover but you refused.
“(y/n) (y/l/n)” leah starts as you walk into the kitchen fully dressed in your training kit, “I really hope you’re joking” leah crosses her arms over her chest as you grab a protein shake from the fridge.
“what’s there to joke about, leah williamson?” you mock, sniffing a little before standing on the other side of the kitchen counter to look at her.
“go back to bed, now” she says sternly, her eyes narrowing at the cheeky glint in your eyes.
“why ever would I need to go back to bed?” you smile, attempting really hard not to cough.
“because you’re sick?” leah says simply, standing up from her seat and walking around to stand in front of you.
“I am not sick!” you exclaim, a little cough managing to escape the back of your throat from the volume. leah has an accomplished smile on her face when she hears it, raising her eyebrow teasingly as she looks down at you.
“you sure about that?” leah grins, you nod, pinching her cheek and running off back to your room to grab your bag before she could yell at you again.
throughout the entire car ride, leah nagged you about your stubbornness, threatening to get you benched for a while or even sending you back home to your family until you were better. you ignored her of course, insisting you were fine and feeling better than ever.
though, when you got to training, your condition seemingly got worse and leah shook her head when she saw you coughing and sneezing.
“how’d you let her come here?” beth coos to leah, rubbing her hand on your back as you lay on the floor of the gym, red nosed with a pounding headache.
“she’s not sick, huh, love?” leah places a hand on your back, to stand your ground, you sit up suddenly and look at leah with a glare.
“yeah, beth, i’m not sick, just allergies” you defend, swatting both pairs of hands away and moving towards katie on the treadmill. and of course, you were in a weakened state and managed to run for two minutes before you had to get off, lying back on the floor with an exhausted sigh.
“not sick, my ass” leah mutters under her breath, immediately walking over to you and kneeling down to look at you better.
“i’m fine” you breathe out, “you’re sick, i’m taking you home” leah asserts, grabbing your hand to pull you up but you refused. “leah, no!” you groan, attempting to loosen the grip of her hand but she wouldn’t relent, she huffs out a frustrated sigh.
“get up, please” leah tries to pull you up off the floor again and you throw her an icy glare, she can see your younger self shine through you at moments like this, you never change, it was honestly amusing.
“leah, i’m. not. sick.” you break down the words, “i’m not stupid” leah says simply, “i’m not getting up, leah” you taunt, the team snickers around you, both of you only used first names when in trouble or when you were truly angry with each other.
“you are so fucking stubborn, (y/n)” leah shakes her head, closing her eyes for a moment before hoisting you up in her arms.
you immediately protest, trying to wiggle out of her grasp but quickly stopping at the look she gave you, rolling your eyes and pouting as she carried you to the car.
“now you sit here while i get your stuff” leah warns, face softening a little at your sad nod before she closed the door.
“i’m taking her home” leah announces to the gym, gaining a few cheeky grins and teasing noises from the team.
“you two are made for each other” lia smiles brightly with beth, leah’s cheeks go a little pink before she looks down, waving them off before sprinting to the change room.
she quickly gathered both of your belongings and ran out to the car, looking over at you every couple of seconds while you looked out the window, little sniffles not being hidden anymore after your little dispute.
when you reached home, leah pushes you down to rest on the couch, making you take your medicine before she goes to get you something to eat. you look like a kicked puppy and it made leah’s heart break a little, maybe she was being too hard on you.
she comes back 20 minutes later with soup because you both knew you were the cook out of the two of you, when she got back, you pulled her into a hug.
her eyes widen a little in surprise, hugging you back without any hesitation, her hands rubbing soothingly over your back as you cuddled into her.
“i’m sorry, lee” you mumble against her shoulder, leah smiles a little, “it’s okay, love, i’m sorry too” you hug her for a little longer before sitting down in front of her. she smiles softly at you, moving a stray piece of hair behind your ear before placing her hand on your thigh.
your cheeks turn rosy as you look up at her, leah’s breath hitched in the back of her throat for a moment when she saw how you were looking at her. “sleep” leah clears her throat, letting you rest your head on her thigh before you promptly dozed off.
in contrast to that stubbornness, you both truly had so much love for each other. it was painfully obvious that you saw each other as more than a friend.
when leah returned to the england team after her acl recovery, you were both extremely excited. it was always your dream to play together in england and finally getting that back after so long was something to treasure for the both of you.
after a particular match, leah was being interviewed by alex scott on the side of the pitch and you just couldn’t resist teasing her.
“ahh! leah williamson!” you scream like an excited fan girl, alex laughs immediately at how red leah got, pinching her nose bridge as you walked up next to her, laughing at how embarrassed she was.
“here we have ms (y/l/n) in the flesh after a fantastic performance” alex grins cheekily at you, you sling an arm around leah’s waist and on instinct hers goes around your shoulder.
“no no, i’m just leah williamson’s number one fan who managed to get on the pitch after I dodged security” you laugh at leah’s little glare she sent you, alex laughs at the two of you, knowing how at least one of you felt about the other, she didn’t miss leah’s pink cheeks.
alex turns the interview on you and leah watches you intently, her eyes focusing on you the entire time you spoke, a soft smile evident on her face.
leah gets asked a question but didn’t answer, focused on you and missing it completely, you bump leah’s hip with your own and she scrambles to answer, you giggle as alex teases her for being distracted.
you get called over by alessia and ella and before you leave, you throw alex a wink, “can I nominate her as player of the match?” you say cheekily, leah rolls her eyes and shoves you away gently, “okay, bye” leah laughs, you blow her an exaggerated air kiss and she grins, watching you walk away before getting back to the interview.
the moment got edited and reposted on almost every social media platform and you had to admit that you rewatched it a couple of times just to see the way leah was looking at you with all the love in the world.
though, unfortunately for you, what resulted in you and leah’s relationship fast tracking was you being injured and a massive argument between the two of you.
it was during a match for arsenal, the defence was all over you trying to rile you up and it was working. you were getting angry, tackling and running in ways that leah wincing.
she always scolded you to be careful during matches, after her own acl injury, her worst fear was you getting one as well.
thankfully, you went down with a hamstring injury, leah running to you immediately when you fell to the ground.
“love” she breathes out, you look up at leah tearfully, “hamstring” you wince, leah lets out a little sigh of relief, holding your hand tightly as you waited for the medics.
“i’ll be with you as quick as I can” leah kisses the top of your head before you got carried off to the physio room and the match ended shortly after.
leah sprinted to where you were as soon as it was over, pushing the door open with a scowl.
“what were you thinking?” leah looks at you sternly, you immediately sigh, making yourself as small as possible, you knew you’d get scolded.
“(y/n) that was so stupid, you’re being reckless giving into them like that, you’re giving them what they want” leah scolds, you nod along with her words, her words were bitter but you know they were just concerned but you were extremely pumped up on adrenaline.
“they were fucking targeting me, leah! what do you want me to do?” you exclaim, her eyes widen a little at your volume, you two rarely fought.
“I want you to stop being stupid and risking an injury like that!” leah spits out, you throw your head back in frustration, “leah, they fucking targeted me and then you don’t expect me to retaliate?” you try to reason but she’s not having it.
she stands directly in front of you, you sit on the bench as she looks down at you with her arms crossed over her chest.
“I know they targeted you!” leah starts, “you’re better than them and they can’t handle it, but just because you’re frustrated doesn’t mean you can get sloppy!” she argues,
“what would’ve happened if it was more serious? huh? you’re fucking lucky it wasn’t your acl, (y/n), I swear to god, why are you being so stubborn about this?” she grits out,
“okay, but it wasn’t, leah, it’s my stupid hamstring!” you yell, pointing at your leg, “i’m fucking sitting here injured and you’re going off at me, you’re the stubborn one!” you say in disbelief, leah’s eyes widen, she attempts to speak but you interrupt her.
“I get it, i’m stupid and reckless! I don’t know why you care so much!” you roll your eyes, “I care because I fucking love you!” leah exclaims, both of you look at each other in shock.
your hearts were beating so fast, you swore you could hear the other’s out loud. beat. beat. beat. “what?” you utter, she covers her face with her hands for a moment before looking at you.
“I love you” she swallows, “more than anyone” she says shakily, you look up at her tearfully, she can’t believe this is the way she’s confessing to you. “I love you, lee, more than anyone” you parrot, she shakes her head with a gentle smile.
“you know how much I care about you, yeah?” leah says softly, moving to sit next to you, “yeah, you just yelled it to me” you say cheekily, leah chuckles, “sorry” she smiles, grabbing one of your hands and holding it tightly. “me too” you grin, scooting forward a little so you were closer to her.
her eyes take in your appearance before falling to your injured leg, bandaged, iced and breaking her heart, she frowns as she looks at it. you follow her gaze and lift a hand up to her chin to direct her eyes to yours again, “i’m fine, i promise” you say earnestly, leah nods, pulling you into a little hug.
when she pulls away, her eyes flicker to your lips and you grin at her cheekily, “kiss me better, williamson?” you cock your head to the side and she chuckles, nodding as she ghosts her lips over yours, “sure, baby” she whispers, pulling you into a sweet kiss that had you feeling dizzy.
when you and leah finally started dating, you wanted to keep it quiet for a little bit but leah williamson doesn’t do quiet.
you were found out by accident when leah couldn’t keep her hands off you in the change room before training, discovered by a screaming beth while leah kissed you passionately as you were perched up on her lap.
“no way!” beth exclaims, you hide your face in leah’s neck and she laughs as beth runs out of the room to tell everyone what she saw, “I told you this would happen but you’re too stubborn” you grumble,
“nah, baby, no one’s coming” you mock leah’s voice “you lied to me!” you laugh, she scoffs, pinching your hip warningly as you ramble about how annoying everyone was going to be now.
“oh, my poor baby” leah coos mockingly, giggling before kissing you gently as you sulked, “it’s not funny” you whine, your own smile playing at the corner of your lips.
“it is a bit” leah grins, kissing you on the lips again while you fight your smile, trying to be stern with her, failing when she kisses you again and you melt into it.
it lasted for a couple of seconds until the entire team bursts into the room, a couple of your england teammates on facetime with some other teammates to tell them the news.
Platonic!Alexia Putellas, “How did you even manage to get up there?!?!”, tree
stuck II a.putellas/barça-femini
"come on!" cata groaned as the ball sailed right past her head again, a widespread grin on your face from the free kick spot. "thats five for five coll, you're losing your touch!" you taunted, the spaniard flipping you off and kicking the ball back to you.
"i'm done with this humilation amiga!" the goalkeeper pulled her gloves off with a defeated shake of her head, making her way out of the goal.
"have you thought about maybe saving some then? won't be so humiliating." you grinned, pulled quickly into a headlock by the girl who chastised you in spanish before letting you up.
"hey!" you groaned as no sooner were you freed did a weight land on your back almost causing your knees to buckle as you stumbled but steadied yourself.
"hola!" mapi sung out, clinging onto you as you tried to shake her off. "finished your laps then?" you laughed, the older girls constant chatter throughout training meaning she was ordered to run an extra ten laps of the pitch under your captains watchful eyes.
"yes! my legs are like jelly compañero, carry me." mapi sighed tiredly, tattooed hand patting your cheek as you struggled to take steps forward.
"for a tiny person you're so heavy." you grunted out as she scoffed in offence. "i am not tiny or heavy!" the defender protested as you rolled your eyes. "tell that to me i'm the one carrying you maría." you groaned out.
"do not call me that! makes me feel like i am in trouble." the older girl huffed as you made your way inside and headed for the change rooms. "why because thats what ingrid says when she's mad at you?" you snickered, whining as mapi sharply tugged your ears for the comment.
"ow! you can walk yourself then!" you dropped her without any warning causing her to fall onto her ass with a hiss of pain. "at least help me up." the older girl held a hand out as you rolled your eyes but grabbed it.
you let out a yelp as suddenly you joined the defender on the ground, mapi hopping to her feet with a grin as a few of the girls wandered out of the change rooms.
"you fall for that everytime pollito." mapi grinned with a shake of her head as you glared up at her, catching both her girlfriends and your captains eyes over mapi's shoulder, both who frowned curiously at the sight of you on the floor.
"ingrid, ale! she's picking on me again." you pouted as ingrids face hardened and she started to quickly walk over, alexia following suit. "mentirosa!" mapi gasped as the taller girls arrived and immediately helped you up.
"she asked me for money for the vending machine and then pushed me over when i said no." you sighed, ingrid pulling you into a tight hug and glaring at her girlfriend whose mouth opened and closed like a fish.
"princesa she's lying!" mapi defended herself with a scoff, eyes burning holes into your head as you sent her a smug smile which quickly turned into a frown when ingrid glanced down at you.
"what have i said about bullying her maría?" ingrid warned as mapi could only scoff in disbelief, alexia running a hand through your hair with a shake of her head.
"honestly, maría you're supposed to be a role model for her she's only sixteen. act your age!" alexia warned, ingrids arms still protectively wrapped around you as both girls guided you away.
you only peeked around them and grinned at mapi who was staring after you venomously, your hand curling up to flip her off as her jaw dropped before you rounded a corner and were out of sight.
as much as in that moment mapi wanted nothing more than to wring your neck, she couldn't deny she really did harbour a large soft spot for you, seeing a lot of herself within you and hoping to be able to use that to guide you forward as you grew older.
so when an hour later you appeared seemingly out of nowhere with a smile and a peace offering in the form of her favourite candy bar, she didn't have a choice but to roll her eyes and pull you into a hug.
however just because mapi cared for you did not stop her also viewing you as the ultimate source of entertainment. as pina and patri grew wiser they stopped giving into the dares and challenges mapi would set them, frustratingly.
but then you came along and suddenly her attentions shifted, forever egging you on to do things to mess with your teammates, and most of the time helping you.
your innocent smile and charming demeanor meant that you were the perfect shield for her to hide behind, alexia rarely ever able to stay upset with you for more than a moment and everyone else just brushing it off as you being young and adventurous.
it was on this particular tuesday after you'd weasled your way back into mapi's good books and alexia had landed herself onto her hit list with the extra laps that mapi decided to make a move.
"i bet you cannot hide ale's boots somewhere she can't find them pollito." mapi pulled you into the change rooms as everyone else headed off for lunch, the defender watching on gleefully at the way your face lit up at the challenge.
"is this because of the extra laps?" you questioned, not quite as gullible as mapi had hoped as she rolled her eyes. "maybe." was all the defender replied as you shrugged, not really needing much convincing to go forward with it anyway.
despite the fact she kept an incredibly tidy home, which you would know given the fact you lived with her, alexia's cubby was rarely not messy, boxes on boxes of shoes stacked on the top shelf as various bottles, medical tape and knick knacks littered the cubby itself.
you smiled at the photos of her and her family taped to the wall having been all but legally adopted into it anyway, eli claiming you as her third daughter from the very moment she met you. you rolled your eyes at the pictures of you taped up, most of which were taken candidly when you weren't looking.
standing up on the bench you rifled through the various nike boxes until you found your captains favourite pair of boots, tugging them out and placing everything back the way you found it.
"where are you going?" mapi asked with a confused frown as you hopped down and headed for the door with the boots in hand. "you only said to hide them, you didn't say it had to be in here."
"you're not landing that!" mapi scoffed in disbelief as you'd tied alexia's boots together and were attempting to throw them up and over a tall tree branch, routinely missing time and time again as they fell to the grass and you sighed.
"new plan." you hummed looking around for a new hiding spot. "or, climb up." mapi gestured to the tree as you looked at it with a hint of uncertainty. "unless you are too scared, pollito." mapi taunted making chicken noises as your jaw hardened.
"gimme those." snatching the boots out of her hand you slung them around your neck, looking up again at the tree with a newfound determination, mapi cheering you on as you started to climb.
"see!" you grinned successfully, sat on a branch and hanging alexia's boots with a satisfied nod, mapi clapping her approval and gesturing for you to get down.
"uh maps?" you called out as the defender had started to walk back toward the training building, turning and raising an eyebrow as your face paled. "i can't." you shook your head as hers cocked to the side in confusion.
"what do you mean?" "i mean, i can't get down." you admitted, not having thought that far when you'd clambered up here, the height in which you were sat now dawning on you as suddenly things became even worse.
"pequeña?" your eyes widened as alexia wandered out, clearly looking for you as she spotted mapi and walked over, asking in spanish if she had seen you considering lunch had long began and you weren't ever someone to miss food.
"okay amiga, don't be mad." mapi started placing her hands on her best friends shoulders who immediately frowned. "maría that is the easiest way to get me mad!" alexia warned with a scowl, pushing her hands off as ingrid walked out next followed by frido as you sighed in defeat.
"whats going on? ale did you find her?" frido asked as the two arrived and mapi rubbed the back of her neck with a guilty smile ingrid knew all too well. "where is she amor?" her girlfriend sighed, rubbing her temple with her fingertips already knowing something bad was happening.
"eh...there?" her hand moved to stretch toward the sky, finger pointing you out as the three girls eyes followed, widening in horror as you gave them a small wave, cheeks flushed red.
"maría. why is she in a tree?" alexia turned her gaze on her best friend who shrank, frido and ingrid hurrying over to the tree as mapi started to back up, alexia advancing with clenched fists.
"its a funny story?" mapi tried with a nervous laugh, turning on heel and sprinting off as alexia moved to grab the back of her training top but missed, cursing under her breath.
"traitor!" you yelled after the tattooed footballer who disappeared inside. "get down älska. right now!" frido yelled glaring up at you as your body deflated. "i can't." you mumbled, barely loud enough for them to hear.
"how did you even manage to get up there!?" alexia yelled making you wince, ingrid already on the phone to someone as you swang your legs back and forth avoiding the blondes eyes.
"i climbed up, just didn't think about how to climb down." you admitted as alexia inhaled and closed her eyes, counting to three as frido rubbed her back sympathetically.
"firetruck will be here in ten, they'll get her down." ingrid returned as your eyes widened in shock. "no way! this place is huge and you're saying the groundsmen don't even have a ladder?" you whined with a groan.
"i hope you told them to have the sirens on." alexia glared up at you as your eyes widened even further. "oh yes. lights, sirens, the full experience." ingrid confirmed as you exhaled deeply, crossing your arms and huffing unhappily.
and lights and sirens there were.
the disruption had caused practically the entire team and staff to come outside, your face burning bright red in embarrassment as an erruption of teasing, whistles and cheers greeted you once your feet hit the grass again.
you hissed in pain as alexia appeared, grabbing your ear and twisting it. "what do you say?" she ordered pointing to the firemen who helped you. "thank you." you mumbled, eyes trained to the ground and wincing as alexia pinched harder. "and?"
"sorry for wasting your time." you mumbled again, nearly falling over your feet as the furious blonde dragged you away still with a firm grip on your ear, your blush deepening at the teasing words from everyone which followed.
"nope! you too." mapi tried to hide before she was seen but it was to no avail as alexia grabbed the younger girls ear and pulled her inside, mapi whining while you remained silent, ingrid following after her with a dissapointed look.
"sit!" you were both pulled into the locker room and pushed to sit down side by side on the bench, mapi glaring up at her best friend and rubbing her ear as you remained silent, eyes trained to the floor.
"sorry chiqui." mapi winced as she looked at you and your ear which was just as red as hers, trying to hug you as you pushed her off and sent her a filthy look making her cringe.
both your gazes shifted as alexia cleared her throat, eyes still ablaze with anger as ingrid stood beside her fixing her girlfriend with a look that meant mapi knew she'd be sleeping in the living room tonight, no exceptions.
"why the hell were you in a tree huh? estúpido!" you frowned as alexia directed the question to you, words racing through your head as something clicked and your frown melted into a pout.
when you added a sad sigh that only mapi knew was very much so fake, her head turned, eyes wide in fear of what was about to come out of your mouth.
"capi i only went up there for you." you mumbled, hitting alexia with your best puppy dog eyes as she frowned and mapi inhaled sharply, seeing where you were going to take this.
"what do you mean?" alexia asked, tone a little softer now as again you sighed.
"well mapi threw your boots up there and i know they're your favourite pair ale so i tried to climb up and get them back for you, but then i got stuck and mapi ran away without helping me." you rested your chin on your fist with another sad sigh.
"pequeña diablo mentiroso." mapi whispered under her breath, shaking her head with a look of disbelief as you glanced to her, corners of your mouth upturned smugly just for a moment.
"maría!" ingrid hissed in disbelief as mapi stammered out the truth but it was far too late, alexia already sat on your other side and looking over your ear, kissing your forehead and cooing repeated apologies as you tucked yourself into her side.
"we're leaving. go!" ingrid warned sternly, pointing to the door as mapi gave up defending herself, grabbing her bag as ingrid hugged you tightly, saying something inaudible as you smiled at mapi over her shoulder.
"you lose!" you mouthed at her smugly as the defender sighed deeply, shaking her head before mouthing something back at you, admittedly almost as proud as she was infuriated.
"well played amiga."
y/n hummed along to the music which played softly from the radio, Narla was swirling through her legs, the dog licking her naked ankles every few minutes to demand a quick pat, which y/n happily did.
She was cooking breakfast, bacon, fried eggs, mushrooms and toast, Lucy's juice was already blended and waiting for when the woman woke up, though y/n didn't mind letting her sleep in.
With it being matchday -1, the team always had a late practice and y/n knew Lucy needed a lay in, her lover having to do a lot of work without her in midfield to bounce off.
Just as y/n plated the food up, two arms wrapped themselves around her waist, the taller girl burying her head into her lover's neck and inhaling the sweet scent.
"Morning baby." y/n hummed softly enjoying the warmth Lucy provided as she snaked a hand into the older woman's hair and scratched at the scalp.
"Always is with you." Lucy murmured, y/n laughing at that as she switched the hob off and turned to face the woman who was grinning.
"You Miss Bronze, are such a sap!" y/n giggled. Lucy chuckled, unable to help herself as she grinned lazily at her lover.
"It's your fault." She denies, before leaning in and placing her lips firmly on y/n's her hands gripping into the curve of her waist as y/n relaxed into the kiss.
A bark broke the two, Narla jumping onto her hind legs to press her paws against Lucy, pushing her away from y/n for a moment before the dog curled around y/n's ankles.
"You little shit!" Lucy grinned at Narla as y/n crouched down and cooed at her, running her hand over the dog. "She's mine Narla." Lucy adds as y/n stands back up.
y/n rolls her eyes at that, grabbing the plates and walking them over to the table while Lucy put Narla's food down, her dog licking her ankles in thanks.
"Yeah know you love me." Lucy scoffs, y/n chuckling as her lover walked over, the woman pressing a kiss to the corner of her lips. "How's the knee?" Lucy asks, sitting down next to her lover and running a cautious hand over the injury.
"Okay, only another few weeks and I am back to training." y/n promised, the injury was luckily not the three dreaded letters, but when she went down, both women thought it could be.
Lucy hummed, nodding her head as she began to push food into her mouth, her eyes zoning out as she replayed the injury and tackle in her head, the instant being something she blamed herself for.
Lucy had wondered out of position, having chased a loose ball and when she missed it, y/n covered her position and intercepted a key pass from their opponents.
However, as she pushed the pass out, a player had come flying in, the girl's studs pushing her knee back and dislocating it as y/n went flying back and knocked herself unconscious from slamming her head on the grass.
Lucy hadn't been able to remember a time where her heart hurt as much as it did then, watching her lover crumple to the ground, she was such a shaking mess she was even subbed off, being told to go be with her lover.
Lucy and y/n's relationship wasn't unknown, just private, only anniversary photos and the occasional snapshot of their love had been caught, but in that moment the cameras caught the worry of being in a five year relationship.
Lucy had been there when she woke up, holding her hand and running her fingertips over the skin, but she couldn't look y/n in the eye, and y/n could tell why almost instantly.
Lucy chased after the stray ball, y/n noticing she had left a gap and quickly filling it as she watched with a wince as the Levante player hammered it toward the player y/n had dropped back to mark.
Lucy turned, cursing herself for her mistake but sighing in relief when y/n brought the ball to her feet and passed it out to Ingrid.
But Lucy's relief turned to horror in a moment as she watched the Levante player tackle y/n late, the studs embedding into her knee and pushing it the wrong way.
With the strength of the player's tackle y/n was pushed harshly back, falling and smacking her head against the ground going motionless.
Lucy's stomach lurched as she felt truly sick, not even waiting for the whistle which echoed as she raced, grabbing her girlfriend's hand, holding it as the medics and team swarmed.
Lucy had paled, not even hearing Alexia asking her to move and Keira's response to the captain saying it was no use to try and move the woman.
Alexia made a sign at Jonatan switching for two instead of one. The man sighed but nodded his head, sending another player to warm up as he watched the stretcher be run on.
"Please baby, wake up." Lucy said softly, y/n groaning as the medics looked over to Lucy, understanding the woman was not moving.
The cameras followed every step of Lucy who followed the stretcher, tears being wiped away as she disappeared in the tunnel, heartbreak the only word near enough to describe her look.
"Don't do that." y/n warned her girlfriend as she took their empty plates.
"What?" Lucy asks, following her like a lost puppy as she watches y/n put the plates in the dishwasher.
"Blame yourself for my injury. It wasn't your fault Lucia." y/n promises, sliding onto the counter so she can bring Lucy in-between her legs.
"But if I..." Lucy began but y/n shut her up by pecking her lips. "But..." Lucy tried again, y/n cutting her off with a longer kiss.
"But nothing. It was a bad tackle, that was all." y/n promised Lucy who sighed.
"You just crumbled, your body just sagged, god it was horrid." Lucy denies, wrapping her arms around y/n's waist to pull her closer, y/n's legs automatically curling around Lucy's torso.
"But I'm fine now, I'm on the mend and I am all energised." y/n promises, running her hand through Lucy's hair, pulling it down and around her shoulders.
Lucy sighed her forehead connecting with y/n's as she pressed herself into y/n, inhaling the sweet smell she gave off. Lucy's hands stayed tight around her waist, her finger tips dancing across y/n's back.
"Have I ever told you how much I love you in my shirt?" Lucy asks, an innocent hum coming from her voice.
"You might have mentioned it." y/n nods, a small smile on her face as she lifts her hand, cupping Lucy's face and rubbing her thumb along her cheekbone.
"I love you in my shirt." Lucy tells her, tilting her head so their noses brush. "I love my last name on your back." She continues.
"You should hurry up and make it permanent then." y/n whispers cheekily, her lips brushing over Lucy's as she wonders whose resolve will break first.
"Patience baby. Patience." Lucy hums, before swiping forward and taking y/n's plump bottom lip in between her teeth, tugging as she bites down on the skin, needing the groaning reaction she receives.
Lucy pulls her lover closer, the two finally meeting in a heated kiss which both seemed determined to dominate, however, Lucy's hand raised, enclosing around her lover's neck and y/n instantly let her have all the control.
Lucy's tongue wrapped around her own, her hand squeezing y/n's throat just slightly before Lucy's lips pressed along her jaw and she bit at y/n's earlobe.
"Either I eat you out here, or I fuck you in the bedroom." Lucy all but groans out into y/n's ear, Lucy pulling her away from the counter slightly so y/n can rest on her bucking hips, Lucy sighing at the grinding friction she was creating.
"Bedroom." y/n gasps out and Lucy grins and moves back toward the bedroom, she places her lover down on the bed and moves upward.
The two meet in a deep kiss, Lucy quickly taking control when her hands bury themselves into y/n's hair, tugging the woman's head back to expose her neck.
Lucy kisses downward, nipping at the skin where y/n's collarbone and shoulder meet, the woman gasping out as Lucy fixes her top back onto her frame once happy with her marks.
"Knee okay baby?" Lucy asks as she fixes a pillow underneath y/n's bad knee.
"Fine. Don't worry about it." y/n whines out needily and Lucy can't help the dark chuckle which slips from her throat.
Ever since the injury, Lucy had tried to be less rough in bed though it did nothing to limit her dominance, she simply found other ways to keep y/n in line.
"So needy for me, aren't you baby?" Lucy asks her. "So needy to have me use you." She continues, her voice dropping to mock her lover.
"Please." y/n gasped, having no issue with begging for Lucy.
"Okay. Okay." Lucy nods, shuffling down so she was level with y/n's thighs, resting on her elbows.
y/n watched with baited breath as Lucy slowly kissed down her thighs, nipping at the skin when she felt like it, y/n gasping at every scrape of her teeth.
Lucy grinned as y/n's breath picked up, her hand trying to reach down to tangle in Lucy's hair, but y/n's hand is caught by Lucy's the woman pinning it to the mattress.
"No touching." Lucy whispered, blowing air onto the soaked fabric which covered y/n's aching pussy.
Ever so lightly, Lucy pulled the wet fabric down y/n's legs and threw them behind her, deciding they were a problem for later as she licked a stripe up.
y/n let out a gasp of relief as Lucy began to lick faster, as if tasting her was more in her brain then pleasuring her. Finally, Lucy's tongue circled her clit and y/n let out a moan.
"Luce." y/n whispered as Lucy repeated the action. The woman sat up briefly, tying her hair back as she stared at her lover.
The woman had a hand in her own hair, eyes filled with pleading as she tried to moved her hips, Lucy's eyes were dark, almost predatorial as she looked down at her shirt on her lover.
"I can't wait til I can fuck you from behind again. See our name on your back." Lucy says lowly, her voice gruff with arousal.
At the use of 'our' when talking about her name y/n moaned, unashamed of how aroused the word made her. Lucy grinned, moving down and wrapping her arms around y/n's hips, pulling her closer.
y/n groaned as Lucy licked again, her tongue flat as she swallowed the juices which smeared her lips as she licked once more.
"Could die between these legs." Lucy groaned before she pushed forward and darted her tongue into y/n's hole, the woman groaning and Lucy pushed her head closer, pressure pushing down on y/n's clit.
"Lucy." y/n moaned, having to bring her hands onto her head so she didn't touch her, because Lucy would stop if y/n disobeyed the rules.
Lucy's hand moved as her tongue continued pushing between y/n's walls, her thumb coming up to rub quick and harsh circles against y/n's clit.
y/n moaned out, her back arching as Lucy's actions became quicker and rougher, the woman groaning out when the snap in her stomach came quicker than expected, her orgasm pushing through her.
Lucy's hand stopped but her tongue didn't returning to it's lapping motion while she cleared the orgasm from y/n's pussy, groaning at her taste and going back once more to continue her motions.
Only when y/n was gasping weakly, begging for a moment from her over-stimulation did Lucy pull away, a smug grin on her face when she saw the state of her lover.
y/n's head was covered in a light sheen of sweat, her hair messed completely at the orgasm, her plump lips parted as she panted out as Lucy stepped away, only to step back over her moments later.
"One more for me, my good good girl." Lucy hummed, she moved down the strap between her legs pushing against y/n's sensitive clit which made her jolt.
Lucy moved forward, lips connect with y/n's as she pushed in, gasping as the pull on her own clit hit her. Her tongue swept through y/n's mouth, gagging her moan which tried to escape as Lucy eased into her thrusts.
"That's it, taking me so well." Lucy groans, her leg hooking over y/n's good one and putting the rest of her pressure on her knee and forearms which were either side of y/n's head.
Lucy's thrusts picked up, the strap hitting a perfect spot on them both as she continued to push into y/n's insides. Lucy moved her arm, pulling y/n's good leg around her waist.
Her thrusts sped up, y/n letting out constant moans which made Lucy bury her head into y/n's neck so she could groan as she chased her own high.
"Feels so good." y/n whined, hands clawing down Lucy's back, not thinking about the mess it would leave as her nails dug into the skin.
"Who makes you feel like this?" Lucy gasped out, her teeth pulling at y/n's earlobe.
"You do Luce." y/n moaned out, the slapping sounds which echoed from the thrusts becoming louder as Lucy somehow sped up.
"What are you?" Lucy asks.
"Yours. Only yours." y/n moans, knowing exactly what Lucy wanted to hear.
Lucy's breath halted for a moment, a sign she was close and y/n moved her hips up slightly to meet Lucy's which caused the woman to moan into y/n's ear.
"Can I?" y/n whined, knowing her asking for permission would push her lover over the edge.
"Cum." Lucy demanded, groaning as she did so, leaning down to bite into y/n's shoulder as the woman's back arched and she let out a breath as she orgasmed.
Lucy slowed her thrusts, not stopping for another minute as she rode out her high, ignoring the over-stimulated whines coming from her girlfriend.
Slowly Lucy pulled out, fingers dipping into her own pussy to scoop up her orgasm and pushing it into y/n's oversensitive hole.
y/n groaned and Lucy couldn't help but smirk as she watched y/n catch her breath again. Lucy unclipped the strap from her hips, moving to rest next to y/n as she let out a breath of content, throwing the wet strap on the bed.
"We're going to have the wash the sheets." y/n sighed out as Lucy pressed a loving and soft kiss against her lips.
"In a minute, just lay with me." Lucy said softly and y/n smiled, moving her head onto Lucy's hot shoulder.
"Always." y/n sighed out and Lucy moved down to bring y/n closer.
y/n and Mapi sat side by side, the two both out due to injuries as they look out on the Barcelona game currently happening. It was twenty minutes in and they were two goals up, curtesy of Aitana and Caroline.
The two friends were sat happily chatting, Aleixa who was next to y/n chiming in every so often as they talked. y/n was enjoying the warmth from the Barcelona evening.
Her beige cargo trousers kept her warmth while her arms were out due to the 'Bronze' Barcelona shirt she wore on her body, many people taking photos when they saw the woman able to WAG her lover.
As the clock ticked over, y/n watched as Lucy raced down the wing, Real hardly standing a chance against her as she defended with skill.
Lucy sent the ball through to Keira, switching through and receiving the ball back which she sent Caroline's way, the player getting her head on it as the keeper just pushed it wide for a corner.
Mapi and y/n groaned, both sitting back down with a sigh as Alexia chuckled at their child-like behaviour, the two pouting for the friend as Salma raised her hand to take the corner.
y/n watches as Salma sends the ball in, Lucy at the back post un-marked as she jumped and the ball flew in. y/n screamed in excitement as she clapped for her lover, the woman laughing as the team swarmed her.
Lucy pulled away from her team, looking for her lover as she raised her hands in a love heart shape, one which y/n did back causing the crowd to go crazy.
El Classico's were always something else, but for Barcelona to be three goals up before half time and missing their captain, a key defender and a key midfielder was a special game.
And suddenly for the fans things were so much better, because they had seen a y/n and Lucy interaction, which in game was a rare thing to truly see.
The game restarted, Lucy quickly blocking run from Del Castillo, she passed it to Ingrid, Del Castillo turning to run at the player, but Ingrid sent a ball through her legs and back to Lucy, who then did the same back to Ingrid.
"I would kill myself." y/n says as she and Mapi begin to giggle at their partners playing with her.
"She has been mothered." Mapi agrees which makes Alexia snort.
"By our girls as well." y/n says with a smile and Mapi pretends to wipe a tear as Lucy sends a ball into the box, Ona smashing it into the goal.
"VAMOS ONA!" Mapi shouts, y/n cheering for their young friend for scoring in her first classico.
y/n clapped excitedly, grinning at the sight of her girlfriend running back, the woman running a hand over her hair as she grins at Ona, the two high fiving.
"She's so hot." y/n sighs without thinking and Mapi snorts teasing her with mocking kisses.
y/n laughs shoving Mapi away as the whistle blows, y/n grinning as she and Mapi move down the stadium, the former trying to move as quick as possible.
Mapi and y/n part the latter quickly rushing into the Barcelona corridor, grinning at the sigh of her girlfriend leaning against the locker room wall waiting for her.
"You just had to score a goal when I wasn't on the pitch." y/n says, a jokingly hard looking in her eyes as Lucy chuckles, pulling her closer.
"Hmm, had to give my WAG a good game to watch." Lucy says quietly, leaning down to press a soft kiss against y/n's lips.
y/n chuckles against the kiss, pulling away to lift the hem of Lucy's shirt, the woman tensing slightly so the line in her abs was carved out in her toned stomach more.
"That's all the show I need." y/n teased, her hand running over them before dropping Lucy's shirt. "Keep that down though, don't want any more clips of you for people to thirst over." y/n adds.
Lucy smiles, a sense of pride always rushing through her when y/n got jealous, she pulled the woman in close to her chest, hands wrapping around her waist to keep her close.
"They're yours baby, those people thirst over something that's yours." Lucy promises and y/n chuckles leaning up to press a longer kiss against Lucy's lips, the woman running her tongue over y/n's mouth in the hopes of deepening the kiss.
"No." y/n says as she pulls away, Lucy huffing as her hands move down and squeeze at y/n's ass. "Lucy, go get ready for the second half." y/n laughs.
"But I want to stay here and kiss you." Lucy huffs like a child.
"After." y/n chuckles, leaning up to kiss her girlfriend again before turning, as she does Lucy's hand darts out slapping her butt with a wicked sound. "Lucia!" y/n calls but she is just answered with a laugh as Lucy walks into the locker room.
It was the 87th minutes, Barcelona now 6-0 up, Lucy sneaking another assist and a clearance off the line which made the crowd scream her name for the next few minutes.
Vicky was on the edge of the box, sending the ball in as y/n watched Lucy run in, jumping and heading the ball into the bottom right corner as she slid on the ground slightly as she landed.
y/n covered her mouth as she shouted, trying not to let her emotions get the better of her as the fans erupted around her, Lucy's name being screamed amongst the crowd.
The game ended soon after, the songs echoing the stadium as Mapi and y/n moved to the side-lines, waiting for their team to finish signing auto-graphs.
Lucy finished quickly and raced toward y/n, the woman giggling as Lucy swept her up and spun her, the sudden shout of excited fan screams echoing.
"Scored 2 just for you." Lucy told her, putting y/n down and couching. "Up you get." Lucy says.
"Lucy your knee." y/n tries but the huff from her makes y/n aware she will not give up.
y/n sighed and climbed onto Lucy's back, the woman standing back up and gripping the underneath of y/n's thighs as she fixed her onto her back.
"Riding Lucy Bronze, a familiar happening." y/n muttered and Lucy snorted.
"God I can't wait until your knee is better." Lucy states as she walks them over to the team talk.
y/n listened to her manager's congratulations, head resting against Lucy's, pressing occasional kisses to Lucy's hair as the group congratulated her as no doubt player of the match.
The group eventually trudged off, waving one last time to the remaining fans, Lucy eventually let y/n clamber off her back once they arrived at the locker room, all the girls already inside and celebrating.
y/n was sure there would be a small party tonight, and she smiled at Lucy as she planned for her own celebrations beforehand.
"Shower quick." y/n tells her pecking her lips and Lucy raised a brow.
"Why?" She asks.
"Wanna celebrate my girl before we go out." y/n whispers against her lips and Lucy was through the locker room faster than she had been all game.
y/n heard the cheers of the team and smiled, assuming they were cheering for Lucy's work during the game, however as Keira walked out five minutes later with a smirk, y/n assumed she had been wrong.
"Maybe cut those nails." Keira tells her with a smirk, just as Mapi came out and made a claw with her hand, making a hiss as Lucy - now showered exited behind her.
"Someone gets scratchy in bed." Mapi winked at y/n.
"And they're about to get worse. See you guys in three hours." Lucy says, before picking up y/n and rushing off making her laugh.
