"If your children grow up to be the EXACT person you are today, will you be pleased?" ...your thoughts, fears, attitudes, faith, priorities, relational connections, fitness, finances, investments, hobbies, free time... ALL.OF.IT. This was the question that rattled around my heart for the last month. If John and I are their number one worldly influence, are we modeling the way they should go? If through the sum of my choices and actions, I show my girls how to be an adult, wife, and mother, my actions set expectations whether I like it or not. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 So, I wanted to change. I wanted to be more emotionally available for simple conversations and for play. I needed to connect without my gerbil in constant overdrive. I needed to say a lot of NOs. One of the biggest obstacles was my social media business. My few hours a day was begining to replace Bible reading, workouts, playing Barbies that extra 10 minutes, reading a good old fashioned book at night, etc. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 Even with my sincere efforts for "Social Media Moderation", researching outsourcing, brainstorming tools, and looking for wise solutions, I felt that background numb of the stress of social presence. After investing 100% effort in learning the IG game, I have personally found that Insta, its rules, and its ever increasing need for time, investment, creativity, and connection is a personal struggle. The joy that I began with wasn't carrying me. The revenue and life balance that was required was taking longer than I anticipated. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 In our family meetings, I also learned that my people really preferred that I step away. My seven year old was really sad when I had to post at 8PM over reading her bedtime stories. My teens wanted to chat at night, while I was distracted with engaging. My husband just wanted me fully present to focus on him at the end of the day. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 Continued in comments...

Rhododendron... // ... this is our first house to own them. They are slow growing, steady and oh so pretty when they burst forth in shady corners of the yard. I want to be like them.... to bring beauty to the shady corners of this world. I just wish those bugs would leave them alone. Currently caffeinating heavily... // Twelve+ hours at the theatre ahead of us today. Loves these days ... when all of the hours of carpooling, class time, rehearsal, and monetary investments culminate in show weekends. This year, the two youngest will be dancing 9 dances total in each of the full dance versions of The Little Mermaid. The high school pre-professional girls play the lead roles, and all of the other dances come together to "tell the full story". It's a great way to have an "end of the year recital" that isn't so random. // So three performances down (piano recital, talent show, pre-professional dance showcase), and three shows to go. WHEW!  Yesterday was a dooooooosy!... // When your day starts with getting rear-ended and goes downhill from there, it's one.of.those.days! Welcome to a third of one hotel. As a former business person who had to market "getting booties in seats" at events and tradeshows, I'm sorta in awe at the machines these hotels have become. There are over 20 of these Goliath hotel casinos booking thousands upon thousands of rooms every night. They compete with each other and with themselves to just keep that many rooms filled. Oh my craziness in decor groups this week🤯... // 🤯 Two large groups took down content early in the week, rebranded, and relaunched the next night.  The next night, three more groups either couldn't post at all or had several odd issues.  By Thursday, one major decor group just canceled for the week, while another said activity was crazy low. // 🤷‍♀️ So how can we learn from this, be smarter with activity, and evaluate what's going on with our own decor related account?  I honestly have more questions than answers.  But one huge hint is to STOP using the words "L*0p, F0ll*w, p0d, 🚂, etc ... This weekend is 14 years in the making, and... // ... it's sad really.  Before kiddos, my husband and I traveled a lot.  If he was going on a work thing, I'd tag along when I could. ....
