Opting to hold her tongue about the noble sacrifice Delphine was offering, now wasn’t the time to feud. Here, within the confines of this run down bunker, they could conjure up a world where there was more to life than just survival.

As the composition of the music changed, nearing the end of the song, the wolf planted her foot firmly, dipping the other backwards just enough for her to warrant trust that Arcadia would keep her from falling. “I think you went into the wrong field of work,” she teased, bringing the two of them upright once more as the record scratched to a halt,  a low hum of white noise present before it shut off completely. Reluctantly taking a step back from Delphine, the wolf relinquished her hold as well, empty hands returning to her sides as her eyes cast to her feet. “Thank you for indulging me, despite your apprehensions.  You mentioned you had some work to do in your journal—I won’t bother you again, I promise.”

her grip tightens significantly as she’s being dipped, fearful of falling, although some part of her knows that arcadia would never let that happen. she smiles regardless. “there is no room for romantic philosophies in science, especially neolution- despite what it’s fanatics would have you believe. it is the cold hard beliefs of a singular... lunatic.” 

once the music fades to nothing and they’ve broken apart, delphine finds that she misses the warmth far too much, but far be it from her to be the first person to speak up about it. “just a few notes, but you would be far from bothering me.”

“no- you have my word. as soon as the storm passes, i will go with you, if they want to shoot you they will have to aim through me.” despite the howling, biting wind outside that seems to crack through into their shelter every few minutes, delphine has never felt warmer, never felt safer. the world, the challenges they face seem a million miles away from this place, even though they lie just outside the door.
