Re:fallout I may have exaggerated its importance, but there is a *moment*. I won't spoil it even though it has nothing to do with plot or anything. You're just the first person I thought of lol
Nonny I am so intrigued
I will try to watch it this week, lets see if I am able to guess what *the moment* is 🤭

if you've never engaged with a creative art on a regular basis you need to understand that it requires concerted effort to get into "the groove" to make something and every second that it takes to get into that groove causes physical pain, but the only thing worse than doing it is not doing it.

Kathy’s first trip into the wasteland lasted several hours and she was poorly armed with a weak, frequently useless weapon and no stimpaks. She returned with goodies in hand that were dispersed amongst the people of the vault, and when she was sent out again she was armed with a handful of stimpaks, a cattle dog and a better weapon.
We became apprehensive when less than three hours later she was not answering radio calls.
Tumblr media
We were uncertain as to her fate. Was she trapped? Was she busy nuking mutants across the wasteland? We’ve grown so quickly to expect so much of her.
Tumblr media
You can imagine our surprise when the cattle dog returned with gear in tow and no Kathy. We are uncertain if her quick demise was a fluke, or her extended survival in her first trek rendered her overconfident and careless. Her loss is a massive blow to the vault’s tentative survival, and the effects can be felt.
Emma Crawford and Mark Ford had a son, Benjamin, however with the vault’s growing needs has Benjamin working in the power room with his parents.
Tumblr media
Benjamin has become quite smitten with one of the ladies in the Diner now that he is grown- a woman named Helen Cox. They are presently expecting their first child.
Tumblr media
Mark and Emma still appear rather fond of each other, and given we need more members of the vault this attachment is encouraged. We just wish that Mark would hurry things up, and not take so long to seduce Emma that 3 different raider attacks occur before she becomes pregnant. Emma is clearly putting forth the effort to make things happen.
Tumblr media
Dr Li is a recent addition to the vault who has been instrumental to the survival of the whole. While her lab is at the bottom of the vault, she is experienced enough with wasteland life that she does not hesitate to attack raiders who invade the vault. She has saved the other dwellers countless times over, either actively by preventing their violent deaths, or her tireless work in the medbay to heal their injuries.
She is assisted by one Douglas Sanders, whose special stats dont make him of any particular use to Dr Li, however at the moment beggars cannot be choosers.
Tumblr media
Emma successfully delivers a little girl- a dire addition needed to the vault. Weve done the numbers and of the 17 current members, only 4 are women- with Madison, that number will grow to 5 as she ages. A 12:5 ratio is not ideal for the continued growth of the vault, but the numbers we have are the numbers we work with. Dr Li’s work is too instrumental to risk her becoming unable to engage in enemy contact, so at this time having her become pregnant is not an ideal situation. Emma and Helen are the only dwellers to have children, although we are awaiting Helen’s first arrival. It is uncertain at this time if Tiffany has her eye on anyone.
Tumblr media
Madison Ford appears to have a wander’s spirit, and it is our hope as she ages that she will be successful out in the wasteland where Kathy failed. Now that Dr Li is here to supervise vault endeavors, we will keep closer tabs on her when the time comes to send her out.

buck fucking wild to me that folks can readily accept the concept of being into breeding kink without ever actually wanting to be pregnant themselves, but cannot grasp the fact that the mental disconnect of sorts that allows that mindset might also apply to kinks that are significantly 'weirder'/'grosser'/more violent/less palatable

cw: death of a beloved friend, choking, grieving, ineffective attempts at the heimlich, turning tragedy into a meet cute somehow
it's been two years to the day that kia died. losing her was hands-down the most horrifying, traumatic thing you'd ever gone through, and it didn't help that you'd witnessed it. it took a solid year and nine months of therapy to stop having dreams about how her eyes bulged as she choked on her food, sat across from you at the restaurant. the nightmares about the handsome stranger who tried to save her with the heimlich making her ragdoll in his arms as he tried desperately to force the food from her airway have only just abated in the last week. and now here you are, on the second anniversary of her death, standing outside the restaurant where it all happened with a nervous energy that threatens to shake you completely apart.
you don't know what compelled you to come back, but you've felt the pull for a while now. the restaurant, dos vaqueros, is right on your way to work, and every time you pass it you can hear kia's voice whisper in your brain "girl, why haven't you come to visit me yet?". it's irrational, there's nothing to be gained but more pain, but maybe this will help you gain the closure you've been seeking for so long.
with a deep breath, you force your unwilling feet to carry you forward into the restaurant. it's nicer than you remember, they must've redecorated i the two years since you've been here. the pretty dark haired woman at the counter smiles brightly at you and welcomes you inside, and you do your level best to match her cheerful, friendly energy as she takes your order and hands you a little plastic number to place on your table. there's no sane reason for you to go back to that fated table, the one where you lost your best friend, but you do. it's not like you expect anything to happen, really- you're not really one to believe in ghosts or spirits or anything... but kia did. it feels like a way to honor her memory, coming back here to see her, to talk to the empty space where she once sat like she's still there. she'd do it for you if the roles had been reversed.
you pull out your phone and place it to you ear without making a call. people will be far less apt to treat you like a nutcase for talking to nobody if theres a cell pressed to your ear.
"hi, kia. i'm sorry it took so long to get back here. i- i've missed you so much." you say to the empty chair, your eyes watering as you are overcome with emotions. as much as it hurts, it does feel good to be here, talking to her again. "i just- everybody's good. everybody misses you. trey's birthday parties are so boring without someone to kick off the dancing. oh, he and mo are back together, can you believe it? do they really think seventieth time's the charm?"
your food comes, and you smile at the pretty waitress before she turns to leave. did she work here back then? or did she only hear stories of the young, vibrant, beautiful girl who choked to death at her place of work?
"your mom's doing ok, she and mark got married. he insisted on saving a seat for you at the ceremony and the reception. you were right, he's a good egg. he paid off the house a few months ago, so your mom's got more money to spend on disney shit." you laugh in between bites of burrito. "i'm ok too. got promoted at work, set a new pr with my weightlifting, and therapy's finally paying off. no boyfriend yet, sorry. you know i'll be back to tell you all about him if it happens."
in your periphery, you can see the tall figure of a man sit at the table next to yours, little plastic number perched next to him. you lower your voice just a little in a fit of self-consciousness.
"terri and chantel had a baby a few months ago. her name is michelle kia, and she's so beautiful kiki. prettiest baby i've ever seen, and you know her mommies are absolutely spoiling her rotten. you would've made such a good auntie. i'm trying to fill your shoes best i can, but i'm not like you. you always seem to know how to have fun no matter what and i- well, i'm still struggling with that." you take a big bite of your food and pretend to listen to the other end of an imaginary conversation, mm-hmming and uh-huhing occasionally as you eat. the man sitting alone at the table next to you gets his food and eats in silence. you want to look over at him to sate your idle curiosity, but something stops you. you keep your eyes forward at kia's empty seat as you finish your food and ramble on about everything that's happened in the past two years between bites. over the next twenty minutes no topic is left uncovered, and by the time you're done you feel a lightness within yourself.
"i gotta go, kia. i love you. i miss you so much. i promise i won't be a stranger, i'll visit soon. bye." you pull the sweaty phone from your ear and wipe it on your jeans before you get up to leave, quickly putting the little plastic basket your food came in inside of the proper tubs and waving goodbye to the pretty girl behind the counter. you're only a few steps into the parking lot before you hear a man call out behind you.
"excuse me, miss?" you spin on the ball of your foot to see who's speaking to you and- oh. holy shit. it's him, the handsome heimlich guy who tried so hard to save kia. he's as beautiful as you remember, with a surprisingly smart looking moustache now. just looking at his face again knocks the breath right out of you, and you just stare at him wide-eyed with your mouth hanging open. if kia were here she'd gently press her fingers to your jaw to shut your mouth with a click of your teeth.
"uh. hi." you say awkwardly.
"hi, sorry, i don't mean to bother you but i- i saw you in there and i just felt like i should say something. i don't know if you remember me, or if said it before but- god, i'm so sorry about your friend." his voice shakes a little, and you don't know what compells you, but you immediately stride right into his space, wrap your arms around him, and hold him in a solid hug. he returns it immediately, arms crossed over your back. as hard as this has been for you, it's not hard to imagine it's been hard on him, too. he'd tried his damndest to help, only to fail and have a strange girl die in his arms. you can't even imagine all the ways that would fuck you up mentally.
"thank you for trying to save her. i didn't- i didn't know how, i couldn't do anything at all, i- thank you so much for trying." tears flow down your cheeks and soak his blue tshirt, and you can feel the shoulder of your own blouse get a little damp as he sniffs and shakes with emotions.
"i'm sorry i couldn't- i couldn't-" he can't even get the words fully out, and you rub a comforting hand up and down his back.
"it's ok, it's ok, you did your best. it's nobody's fault. nobody's upset with you." you parrot the words that brought you comfort when you'd had a breakdown a year ago. "you wanna sit down? talk a bit?"
"yeah, if that's all right? i don't want to take up too much of your time." he says as he pulls back out of the hug, wiping wetness from his cheeks as his eyelashes cling together with spent tears.
"this was my only plan for today. come on, we can sit on the curb if you'd like." you say with a small rub to his upper arm, as if you're longtime friends and not strangers bound together by death and tragedy.
the two of you sit on the curb and talk until your ass falls asleep. his name is kyle, he's in the army, and while he's seen his share of death, failing to save kia really impacted him more than he'd ever expected.
"i just- i thought i had it. i thought i could do it, it just seemed so preventable." he stares down at his hands, and all you can do is nod in silence.
"i don't know if it helps at all, but nobody has ever blamed you for what happened. i mean, i- i just- i just froze. and so did everyone else. so i've always been so grateful to you for stepping in and doing something, and i'm really glad i have the opportunity to tell you that." you say honestly, and kyle tilts his head to look at you, a small, sad smile on his face.
"you're such a nice girl. thank you, that means a lot, actually." he turns to look across the parking lot at the restaurant. "can i ask you something? you can tell me to piss off if you want."
you knock your shoe against his. "go on."
"were you talking to her? in there?" kyle nods towards dos vaqueros, and you feel your face heat up as embarrassment washes over you.
"yeah. i don't know that i believe in ghosts or anything, but she did. i just thought i should come and update her on stuff, just in case. i dunno. i think she'd want me to, even if she isn't really there." you shrug, aiming for nonchalant as you try to hide your simmering humiliation. kyle's wide, warm hand settles on top of yours.
"you're a good friend." he says, dark eyes brimming with sincerity and kindess that's almost overwhelming. all you can offer him in return is a wobbly, watery smile as you fend off another wave of tears.
"what brought you back here?" you ask, trying to blink back your sadness.
"same as you. sayin' hello. sayin' sorry." he pauses. "didn't see you last year."
"i, uh, wasn't ready last year." you admit, and kyle just nods with a look of complete understanding on his face. it's nice, being able to talk about this with someone who understands completely what a horrorshow it was you were exposed to. he gives your hand a gentle squeeze and bites his lip, clearly mulling something over internally.
"if i'm overstepping feel free to tell me to piss off, but can i give you my number? it's been nice talking with you, i've thought about you a lot over the years and i don't want to lose track of you again." he smiles bashfully at you, and, god, he's so beautiful. you hand over your phone before you can think too much about it, and your heart lights up like a lit firework at the way his smile grows and covers his face in an expression of joy.
"don't be a stranger, yeah?" kyle says when you separate with a hug and a promise to stay in touch, and judging by the way kyle keeps looking back at you as he walks away, all you can think about is how excited kia will be to hear about you possibly having a new man in your life.

I nuked vault 420 because I wanted to do survival mode but ivy you can have 3 save files! I can, and I choose not to
So now we have vault 304 (which was almost named vault 069 but Im glad I didnt because THEY TAKE TOO LONG TO START FUCKING!!! Jfc it takes like 3 raider attacks to get anyone pregnant in this god forsaken vault)
Tumblr media
I named vault 304 in anticipation of the fact Id have to keep these fools getting down with the get down because death would be imminent given this mode renders you unable to revive dwellers.
Tumblr media
Most dwellers are assigned to rooms but I frequently have one who is almost perpetually out in the wasteland to gather supplies. For vault 304 I elected Kathy Robinson for this task.
Kathy is talented and capable, surviving for hours out in the wasteland with only a bb gun. Unfortunately at this time we cannot equip her with anything better. While the other dwellers work tirelessly to keep the vault afloat, Kathy’s exploration is vital to the security of the vault as she finds and recovers items out in the wasteland
Tumblr media
Emma Crawford and Mark Ford, two dwellers who provide for the vault’s electricity, have taken a shine to each other. If we hope to survive we need future generations, so they were permitted to go to the living quarters to do what needs to be done.
Tumblr media
Given that Emma and Mark are the only two who can work the power room, Tiffany Wilson was sent to keep an eye on things while they were occupied. Unfortunately, Emma and Mark took so long that things got out of hand. Tiffany has since been banished to the kitchen.
Tumblr media
A cattle dog was discovered. It was decided that once Kathy returns, that the dog will be sent out as a companion with her.
Tumblr media
Kathy was enthusiastic about the cattle dog, and eagerly ventured back out to the wasteland with her new companion. We hope her next trip is as fruitful as her first.
