Before Dune pt1 came out I was deeply skeptical of Timothee Chalamet as Paul and didn't think it was a good choice at all. Then I watched the film and I was wrong! He was great! Now having seen Pt2 I'm even more sold on him in that role. I'd like to see him play darker roles more again in the future. This is the film where we get to see the darker side of Paul as he starts to truly transition from that softer, naive teenager into that grown up theocratic dictator role that he fully embraces in Messiah. He handled all of Paul's kind of scary moments really well. He perfectly nails the sort of emotionally detached intensity Paul is supposed to have after drinking the water. It's a shame they cut down so much of the final conversation with the Emperor because I feel he could have done a really good job with the full exchange.
Tbh wasn’t that impressed with Timmy in Dune 1 or the first half of Dune 2, but when he became Muad’dib proper… I have not FELT acting like that in a long time, if ever.
Didn’t expect to love Austin Butler bc I don’t like his vibes much and his face reminds me of someone who made me feel so, so bad about myself for six months who will never, ever care that he did… But that arena scene was fucking 🤯Cinema🤯. He really, really nailed it.
I liked the changes they made to the Fremen and to Chani a lot, but ending on that little scene with her felt kind of like ending an epic orchestral piece with a little fart. Didn’t get it.
Otherwise… Genuinely devastated I will never see it for the first time again.
Gotta be real, watching the reaction to this KJ confirmation thing… kind of the last straw for me with this fandom. Absolutely psychotic people here.
I’m not gonna delete and I might casually post a bit, but I’m not gonna be super invested anymore. ✌️✌️ tbh I’ve kind of been slipping out of being super invested for like a year
Can I be real with the one person who might see this?
I think Wonka looks kind of shit. Dune looks good but probably not enough to live up to what I’m imagining, again. I’ve been kind of disappointed by everything Tim has been in for the last few years - French Dispatch, Don’t Look Up, Bones and All… Feeling pretty disillusioned between the droughts and the movies I’m not excited for.
I want to like them and I want to like Tim in them because I’m invested but I just… don’t feel like the projects live up to the hype? Anyone else know what I mean?
Am I the only one who really doesn’t like the videos that have come out 😬😬 they just seem really… bad lighting, average hair and makeup at best, kind of awkward
Not pooping on the party, just want to know if I’m alone cos I don’t think I’ve seen anyone gushing 😅
Not stephane making a transphobic joke on Timmy's pic 😬😬😬. "My man pretty like a girl"... Yikes yikes YIKES! Why did had to do that comparison? Can't men be pretty as well? That was fucking unnecessary.
Anon, you need to stop looking for things to get upset about. There was zero "transphobic" about that comment ffs. "My guy pretty like a girl" is the first line to "Chanel" by Frank Ocean. Get it?
