Do you prefer skill/stat checks that are chance based, or just a flat you pass or you don't pass? Example: To reactivate a robot you need a Robotics skill of 50. If you have 49 in Robotics you're guaranteed to fail. If you have 50 in Robotics you're guaranteed to succeed, vs. If you have a Robotics skill of 50 it gives you a 50% chance of reactivating the robot.

Flat checks whenever the checks are "stand alone", i.e. they are not part of a series of checks and cannot easily be retried via reloading or other mechanics that require no adaptation from the player.

RNG in stand alone checks you can retry with no cost (other than time) feels more than pointless to me. Feels bad imo.

Brother Wojslav almost certainly has terrible Latin skills. As the abbey cellarer, Wojslav wouldn't have used Latin much day-to-day outside of the Liturgy of Hours.

Poor Latin skills and casual use of native languages were common trends in abbeys throughout the medieval and early modern periods.

Why the hell can’t I ask Brother Wojslav to translate this old-ass latin book, huh? He’s a former monk, his ass can DEFINITELY translate the Historia Tassiae. Lazy-ass.

Hi Josh !

About Magdalene receiving the Golden Legend as a gift. I was curious if you had considered the fact the story of St. Moritz doesn't line up with the life of Saint Maurice as told by Voragine ? Given that other characters claim that St. Moritz died at Tassing, I wonder if Magdalene was shocked by Voragine's book, or if she simply assumed that the man was wrong, or something else entierly ?

It's not a weird question but vitae were inconsistent in that era and there could be multiple origin (and miracle, and death) stories circulating for centuries. The church wasn't in the habit of regulating/reconciling vitae in general circulation (and it would have been extremely difficult even if they wanted to).

It's likely that Magdalene would believe Voragine's version of events was wrong: Moritz was Tassing's saint and who would know the story better than they?

Es war ein Traum Das Wort: „ich liebe dich, ich liebe dich!”

So pleased to finally share my piece for @palimpsestzine! This was a live recreation inspired by the Pentiment soundtrack album cover — the only editing you see, besides normal post-production, is the wood panelling background and the little bit of Nuremberg outside the window. Everything else was done through practical effects and craft: I got to show off everything I love about costuming and tell on myself as an ex-theatre kid and literally bring one of the game’s iconic images to life.

my full piece for the pentiment fanzine @palimpsestzine !!!!!

i wanted to paint something with the tassing women just hanging out. a tribute to the burden of work historically borne by women....at least they can do their work together. (also why the marginalia also shows animals doing work and various tools for work, heh heh)
