I’ve gone 25 hours without any itch cream

And If I hadn’t paid attention to the weather I’d have gotten a nice walk.

And Tumblr likes my needlework more than the rest of my social networks by a factor of 3.

At least all my paperwork is done for the year.

After suffering for 2 weeks of shingles and medication I worked really hard at making myself invisible at the memorial that apparently am still invisible 3 days later so the fact that I spent 2 days out in the woods generating spoons is shot to hell because my mushrooms & art aren’t getting the response they used to get on bluesky and I’m taking it very very personally.

Also my brain still thinks I’m allergic to kimchi.

Also thanks to the Weather channel being Wrong Again I have to rush to Trader Joes first thing in the morning before my housing recertification meeting.

Shingles report day 13

Stopping the antivirals, last dose was yesterday & only had 3 left. Everything is healing beautifully and I need to be able to drive by Sunday if not tomorrow.

At least I’ll be going out well before high tide.

Shingles report day I have no clue. Day 12.

Cut the antivirals down to a nightly dose with doctor’s permission. Head is clearer.

Some lesions are scabbing, some are fading.

Itching so sporadic I forget not to scratch. Slight muscle soreness.

Get. Your. Shingles. Vax.

Shingles Day 8

I’m noticeably clearer-headed but still not going to try to drive, and realized soon enough I should not be trying to use a saw.

The blisters are starting to form. Watching this is actually very similar to watching a slime mold life cycle.

No one I asked for a phone call from the clinic has called back. Not that I can drive to the optician anyway but I’d like to know which one I’m seeing when I can drive.

It itches. Oh. Meds at 5:30. 90 minutes. I can make it. I say every day.

In the morning I do Covid test 3.

Oh and I managed to download all the documents I needed while my brain was still working this morning. Maybe tomorrow I can get that application done.

Shingles Report.

Literally Day 7 since I thought I’d got a bug bite & invested in tick protection.

Yesterday may have been the worst of it, the topical steroids & oral antivirals are definitely working and the antiviral is making me very stoned so it’s fortunate I spent all my time as a prep cook stoned so that I could get this weeks mushrooms & onions chopped to saute. Not gonna deal with garlic. I know my limits.

Anyway I’m totally baked, in much less discomfort, and managed to empurple my hair & the attendant washing of the tub & sink.

Gonna flash saute the shrooms (combination oyster & shiitake) & have some for dinner with last weeks taters.

Soup may happen tomorrow. It’s already prepped. Baked sweet potatoes may happen because I ain’t going near a raw one with a knife in my condition.

Also my Izzy is sick and I can’t visit her because toddler. So she better get better.

If you’re old enough to have gotten the single-shot Shingles vaccination, maybe think about getting the newer, 2-dose shot.

Because I was vaxxed this isn’t nearly as bad as it could have been, and the doctor says that shingles gives you immunity to shingles, but it’s still fucking unpleasant.

At least I only have to rub the steroids on my skin…but really. If you had chickenpox & have hit the big 5-0, Go. Get. Vaxxed.

Trust me on this. I want to tear my skin off and I have a “mild” case.

And I have to miss a mini-Con tomorrow because you just know half the kids there haven’t got their chickenpox shots.

Also let’s hear it for the person on Facebook who decided that Shingles is worthy of a 👍🏽
