hello everyone. very unfortunately, and unexpectedly, my mom passed away from covid on december 20th. because of this, my younger brother and myself are currently having to depend on other relatives that we aren’t all that close to and that don’t always necessarily have our best interest, for food, shelter, etc.
me, my brother and my mother had been living in an apartment in arizona, but for whatever reason, i guess since i am under the age of 21, after my mom passed at the hospital, the county told me that if we did not go to stay with family, that my younger brother would be placed in foster care. either way, we didn’t want to stay in the apartment that we had so many memories with our mother in and then had to resuscitate her at until paramedics arrived, so we left the apartment to stay with one of my uncles ex wife’s in las vegas, which i now regret because i am receiving no help from family with arranging my mother’s funeral or getting the things i need such as clothing. my “aunt” has gotten us food stamps which i appreciate, but they are on her terms, meaning she is keeping the food stamp card because she thinks we will misuse the food money??
anyway, i have two weeks to get back to arizona so that i can clear our things out of the apartment, throw things out and/ or place them in storage before the landlord removes our things herself and i will have to get them through the court system which would be a great inconvenience at this time as i am busy dealing with trying to bury my mother. my family here in nevada knows this and has not offered to help get me back there to handle this.
i have no money of my own and have not yet began working because i am dealing with my mother’s arrangements and also looking after my brother. if anyone out of the kindness of their heart would be willing to help my brother and i out even a little during this time, it would be so greatly appreciated!!

thank you so much🤍

I hope when y’all say end fatphobia and abolish conventional beauty standards you’re including disabled people too. I’m talking people with deformities, I’m talking people who can’t lose weight because they’re in a wheelchair, I’m talking people who can’t exercise because they have chronic pain or migraines, I’m talking people who are deathly thin, I’m talking people missing limbs. We aren’t freaky or ugly looking. We deserve love but even more importantly we deserve your respect.

Okay, granted, it’s been a while since I’ve seen “all trans readers like one kind of fic, and no trans readers ever like another kind of fic, so it is Transphobia when you write the Wrong Kind.”
…but it hasn’t been that long since I’ve seen someone quietly wonder if they’re a Bad Trans Person for having preferences.
So it’s never a bad time to say: different people have different needs, and it’s okay to be fulfilled by different kinds of stories!
(heck, the same person might have different needs at different points in their own life, and that’s okay too)

Meanwhile, as of January 9, it's reported that 5,969 people were detained in Kazakhstan for participating in the protests. Also, according to previous days, 26 people were killed by the security forces.
But nobody cares about this (except for the Kazakhstanis themselves and part of the post-Soviet people), there are no #prayforkazakhstan promotions, there are no donations for the victims. And for some reason, many are more worried about whether Bitcoin will be mined after the protests.

Please help - I really don't want to start the New Year in debt!!
**URGENT: PLEASE READ/SIGNAL BOOST**
Friday, December 31st: Hi everyone I’m Gemma, a bi, mentally ill woman, who is in desperate need of help as I'm really struggling to get through the New Year.
As most of you are already aware from my previous posts, I have been struggling financially for quite some time due to my welfare benefit being under a review, which is due to my worsening mental health and the UK’s controversial changes to how benefits are assessed and assigned. And at the moment, I'm currently struggling to get by, as my application for Disability (PIP) was declined and I don't receive my U.C benefit until the end of January, and all my previous donations have gone to pay off my rent and bills but I still have some outstanding bills to pay and my bank account is overdrawn & I have groceries to get for the New Year.
And absolutely no pressure on anyone, but I have a WISHLIST, with some items I desperately need. There are a few things to help with my insomnia, and one expensive item that is incredibly urgent. I've also added a bunch of gift cards, some between £10 - £50 to help me get by.
If anyone could spare anything to help me get through the New Year, even if it’s just £1/$1/€1, it would literally save my life, and sharing definitely helps just as much as donations. Nobody is obligated in any way to donate or buy anything from my wishlist if they can’t or don’t want to, I know we’re all struggling right now.
Thank you and happy New Year!! ❤
Goal - £106.52/£210!!
PAYPAL ☆ WISHLIST

Donziger won Indigenous clients a $9.5 billion settlement from Chevron for poisoning the Amazon. Now he's gone to jail after a US judge appointed a Chevron-linked private law firm to serve as prosecutor in a contempt of court case. (Federal prosecutors refused to try the case)
Tumblr media
One judge in the first case did not disclose he held investments in Chevron and was openly hostile to the plaintiffs. He appointed the second judge, who not only hired a law firm that works with Big Oil to prosecute Donziger, but hid the trial from the public
Via petition for Donziger's release:
Steven Donziger is a US lawyer, Harvard Law alumnus, and environmental rights defender who represented victims of oil dumping in an emblematic case against Chevron Corporation in Ecuador, following accusations that the corporation was responsible for what is widely considered one of the worst oil-related environmental disasters in recent history.
He has been under pre-trial house arrest since August 2019 after he refused to comply with a court order to hand over his electronic devices, arguing that such a disclosure could compromise the confidentiality of the communications with his clients and put them at risk. The detention follows a long-running smear campaign of intimidation and harassment against Steven Donziger and other human rights defenders by Chevron.
In September 2021, the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention found that Steven Donziger’s deprivation of liberty is arbitrary because it lacks any legal basis and is in violation of several norms relating to the right to a fair trial, including the apparent lack of impartiality of the courts. Moreover, the Working Group concluded that his detention appears to be in retaliation for his work as a legal representative of Indigenous communities in Ecuador.
Despite serious concerns over the lack of independence, objectivity and impartiality of the judge who ordered the pre-trial house arrest and who has overseen the trial over criminal contempt charges, Steven Donziger was sentenced on 1 October to the maximum penalty of 6 months in prison and denied the possibility to be released pending an appeal.
We urge the Department of Justice to assume jurisdiction over the case instead of the private prosecutor, and promptly implement the UN Working Group’s decision by ensuring that Steven Donziger is released immediately and unconditionally. We also call on Attorney General Garland to launch a full and independent investigation of the circumstances surrounding Steven Donziger’s arbitrary deprivation of liberty and take the necessary measures to ensure that corporations do not abuse the justice system to target and harass human rights defenders.
More information can be found in Amnesty International's urgent action bulletin here: https://www.amnesty.org/en/documents/AMR51/4915/2021/en/
We join Amnesty International, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.), Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.), Rep. Jim McGovern, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), and 29 Nobel Laureates in calling on the DOJ to intervene.

I'm just going to say it.
It's okay to have a low IQ.
It's okay to not be "smart", as in clever, witty, or cunning. It's okay.
It's okay to not be a leader. It's okay to be content following people- the important thing is making sure you're following the right people for you.
It's okay not to be good at maths and science, and it's okay not to be good at English or art or drama. It's okay if you're not good at anything "academic".
It's okay if you don't have a special talent, or a hobby you're particularly invested in.
It's okay to not be charming, or funny, or 'pretty'.
It's okay if you aren't society's ideal.
None of these things detract from you being a person. None of these things mean you have any less worth as a human being. Even if any of these things mean that you can't contribute to society as an engineer or a doctor or something, that doesn't mean you can't contribute to other people's lives. Don't let society determine your self worth.
Because you can still be kind. Still give people cookies, or hugs, or companionship. You can still do things, you could still find something that you're passionate about, you could still find your calling.
And even if you don't, that doesn't mean you aren't still human. All human beings have intrinsic value, just for being alive. You have the right to be part of society, and more importantly to be alive, whether or not you have something that make other people like you.
Your life is not dependent on others. You are allowed to just exist, to not have found that thing that makes you "you" yet.
It's okay, I promise.
