Same person as before, but I had this thought.
Imagine if what opens up the conversation is Bessie being killed and eaten by a loose dinosaur. And so Sammyâs a wreck, sheâs grieving, sheâs distraught, and then she stops for a second and is like âOh, shit. How was she any different than them?â
Noooo not Bessie đź

Iâm worried about how theyâre going to handle animal rights and issues, specifically farm animals, in Chaos Theory, but more in a âwhat is the audience going to take away from this?â sort of way.
I know the show is mainly about dinosaurs/prehistoric animals but so far weâve had;
- Sammy, a character whoâs main thing is her familyâs beef ranch and how much she loves cattle, specifically her pet cow, Bessie.
- Herbivorous dinosaurs that are repeatedly compared to cattle by multiple people, and no one argues against it, everyone agrees that theyâre like cattle.
- Vegan alternatives shown as environmentally conscious choices and a parallel to factory farms through dinosaur breeding farms in Dominion.
- And now thereâs a new character, Sydney, who is said to be an environmentalist so Iâm assuming sheâs going to be vegan, or at least vegetarian.
Camp Cretaceous had a lot of issues with putting dinosaurs on a pedestal while ignoring other animals, specifically cattle but thatâs because Sammy would keep bringing them up.
Like, I noticed this throughout all the seasons, but in Seasons 4 and 5 itâs more obvious. In the last two seasons they really avoided calling the dinosaurs animals. Because they canât say that hurting animals, especially for money, is wrong without opening up *that* dialogue about hurting animals for meat and byproducts, as well as implying that the Gutierrez ranch is doing something that is morally questionable, if not flat out wrong.
Because as much as they could say and show that the animals are treated well on the ranch, itâd be dishonest to push that something realistic. Because real life beef farms, no matter how small or how family owned, still adhere to practices like weaning claves when theyâre too young (the natural weaning age is 9-11 months), fasting, which is basically starving, animals for 12+ hours to lessen the chance of issues with the digestive track, artificial insemination, and conscious and unmedicated dehorning, ear-tagging, tail-docking, and castration.
And I get that itâs a show for kids, so they canât go too far into veganism and animal rights without risking backlash from parents, but they werenât even neutral about it. They full on endorse it with Sammy. Sheâs a massive animal lover with a pet cow, a big heart, and a love for meat. Thatâs all we get. No nuance, no conflict, no nothing, to the point where it genuinely felt like some of the funding for the show came from somewhere in the meat industry over some of the things Sammy has said and done.
All in all, the show purposefully compares dinosaurs to cattle multiple times, but when it comes to who is worthy of being rescued and living out their lives in peace, itâs the dinosaurs. Itâs the onesâ whose abuse towards is completely fictional that weâre supposed to sympathize with.
Maybe Chaos Theory will be better about it and dive into those issues, since itâs supposed to be more mature than Camp Cretaceous, but considering season 5 had the kids eat ice cream right after using the bond between a mother and her child to convince Daniel not to hurt the dinosaurs I donât have high hopes for it.
These are some really great points and topics I'd love to see explored in CT. But honestly given what we got in the last few seasons of CC, I just feel like the writing isn't strong enough. They don't care or aren't capable of writing that kind of nuance :(

With the way they both tell Darius he cares more about dinosaurs than people when they're angry with him and have both said something insensitive about his dad, Brooklynn and Kenji are perfect for each other.
(Seriously though, it's weird that they have those two things in common)
Power couples berate the youngest in the group *together* đȘ

Benâs my favorite and Iâm glad he survived, but I low-key wish they killed him off in season 1. Like, just for the experience of a kidsâ show actually killing a main character.
There should've been more kids at camp for the writers use as fodder. Kill them off one by one and leave us with the final 6 by the end of s2 to really up the stakes

Why did no one in camp cretaceous ever get a pet compy? They're pretty cute and innocent when there's only one. The compy on the yacht could have been the beginning of something beautiful
They give the sweetest little kisses!

Seriously, I remember when someone pointed out that Yasmina and Sammy slept on the bed with their dirty shoes on and itâs like a writer saw that and was like âyeah, letâs give them the grossest romantic scenes possible that fit within our age ratings >:)â
And thatâs how the Yaz hoping Sammy was flirting/confessing to her in the sewer, the swamp kiss, and the cutesy raw meat in the hair scenes were made.
theyre just quirky like that

Itâs kind of annoying that no one asked themselves or the others, âwell, what you do if it was your parent?â when they were dealing with trying to convince Kenji his dad was evil and after he didnât try to stop the fight and left with him to Nublar.
Like, I wholeheartedly believe that, with the exception of Darius and *possibly* Ben, only because of Bumpy, that if it was one of the other kids parents were revealed to be doing what Kenjiâs dad was doing theyâd end up siding with their parent too, especially since they all have good relationships with them.
They would have a hard time believing their parents could be evil and could be convinced that the mind control is the best option for the dinosaurs.
(Especially Sammy, I mean, for someone who loves cattle so much sheâs completely fine with killing them for food/profit and having romantic moments with raw meat in her hair (???) and sheâs willing to commit actual crimes and manipulate people for her parents and family without them even asking her.)
Imagine if Sammy's family had an evil plot to clone dinosaurs and sell their meat as super pricey gourmet produce, to save their ranch with this new niche
I mean it's completely ridiculous and they'd 100% lose money but it's no more logical than Daniel Kon's Dino battle business plan so đ€·

Character shipping has literally rotted my brain.
The second I found out Darius and Sydney were the same age my first thought was if they might be love interests.
Sydney who? I have no idea

Stranger Things AU let's gooooo
Camp Cretaceous - Stranger Things AU!
Chapter One: The Vanishing of Ben Pincus
November 6th, 1983 - Hawkins, Indiana
(Part 1 - The Laboratory and Its Monster)
Every few seconds the halls would be coated in the sickly green glow of the lights as they flickered on and off. The only consistent light was the little red dot on the security cameras, though they might as well have been off as the people manning them had long abandoned their posts. Still, there were people inside the building. People who didnât immediately evacuate when it all went to shit.
One scientist in particular, Dr. Edward Vann, remained in the building. Not out of confidence in his ability to handle the assetâs escape, but out of necessity. Because it, as they all referred to her, wouldnât hesitate to follow him outside. An act that would mean certain death for him as the surrounding forest didnât promise him refuge like it did for other animals, say a canary or a cat. All it promised him were obstacles - gnarled roots to trip over, branches to hit into, unsteady trails to stumble through. The unpredictability of nature was something he couldnât bring himself to trust, especially now.
The facility, however, offered him a chance to survive, he knew it like the back of his hand. In the last eight years of working for Ingen he had memorized the layout of every floor, the pattern of letters and numbers needed to unlock every door and computer, and the comings and goings of everyone whoâve ever worked in the building. There wasnât a thing about this place he didnât know, but despite his knowledge of the facilityâs inner workings he couldnât stop himself from panicking as he sprinted down the halls. He couldnât stop his breathing from being as quick and sharp as the turns he took. And he couldnât stop his eyes from watering as every moment felt like his last.
It wasnât even dying that scared him, it was the process. Especially its process. He had seen others fall victim to it, and it was a sight that shook him to his core. The visuals flashed in his head, one after another. The tapering needles that pierced through skin and flesh, the venom that deepened their skin into a green hue, and his coworkersâ connection to reality slowly slipping away as they called out for loved ones who werenât there.
Eventually he managed to get to the elevator he was looking for, the one that would take him down to a bunker to wait out the brutality of Ingenâs, of his, creation.
Once the elevatorâs button was in reach he repeatedly slammed his palm against it, and within seconds the doors slid open. He wasted no time getting in, hitting the interior button as he did in a similar fashion. After enough times he pulled himself away from it and stepped back. With his back to the elevatorâs wall he couldnât do anything but keep his eyes focused on the empty hallway. And as he stared into the flickering darkness as the doors began to close.
For a second, a single second, he thought he was safe. But then he looked up.

Even though I ïżŒlove Yasammy and Benrius, I low-key ship Yaz x Ben and Brooklynn x Sammy. They just make sense to me. Yaz and Ben have a very special bond that evolved slowly, and Sammy and Brooklynn subplot from s1 had the potential to evolve into something else. Maybe Iâm weird, but I cannot help it ÂŻ\ _(ă)_/ÂŻ
Honestly it's fun to see more ships in the fandom outside of the main 5 ships you always see. We love some variety

If I'll start to see any hint of ship wars dribbling in here from that ex-bird site I'll just grab a maxi bucket of popcorn and chill on my little hill. I'm too old for that shit i'll let the youngsters engange in uneccessary discourse
nah bro I can't wait for it, I'll be sitting with my popcorn and relishing the resurgence of the fandom. As long as no one is straight up bullied ofc. Watching people get so hard pressed on fictional teen relationships is hilarious
