Using Filters in Photoshop
For this assignment we were required to choose five photos: a solid background, landscape, wide shot, mid shot and close up. We then had to use photo-shop to create new layers on the chosen images and add various filters to them. The main purpose of this assignment was to show off our photo-shop skills. The assignment was not too difficult however, it took some time and effort to complete because there were many filters that needed to be applied to the photos and I had to ensure that each of the appropriate filters were being applied correctly to its corresponding image. For this assignment, I learnt that applying filters in order to make an image appear enhanced takes more precision, time and focus than I had initially thought. However if one puts in the time to apply them, the results can turn out to be quite beautiful. If I could do this assignment again, something I would do differently would be taking more time to play around with the filters and how much of the filter I was using, to see just how perfect I could make the image look. I can apply what I’ve learned from this assignment at home, before I post pictures on social media, I now possess some skills which I can used to enhance the image and possibly make it look more professional.

Cartoonify Yourself
For this assignment we were supposed to effectively use the pen tool in order to cartoonify ourselves on illustrator, creating a vector cartoon. The main goal of this assignment was to help us get comfortable navigating illustrator, specifically exploring using the pen tool to create desired shapes. For my assignment, I had used illustrator to cartoonify myself like everyone else, however I had added a dark purple background on mine. Going into this project, I hadn’t really known what to expect, based off of the tutorial, it had looked a little complex because of the techniques we would have to use in order to achieve different things but it looked doable at the same time. It started out quite well as I was following the steps used in the video, however further along in the assignment it became quite difficult and frustrating because I had run into a few issues, one in particular that seemed impossible to overcome. I was unable to get the colour to show. To fix this however, after tons of trial and error, I had managed to figure out a way to layer the images so that the colour would successfully appear. From this assignment, not only did I learn how to cartoonify myself but I had learnt the importance of patience, focus and dedication and had figured out that once I apply all of these things to my work, finding a solution is always possible and that there is always a way to overcome roadblocks. If I could do this assignment again, something I would do differently would be to try and make the outline of myself a little more precise by changing some of the lines, however I didn’t have much time given the issues that had arisen. I can apply what I’ve learnt from this assignment to school and whatever task I decide to do, because I was taught that I can accomplish whatever I put my mind to, no matter how difficult or tiering it may be.

Food Truck Assignment
For this assignment we were required to come up with a brand idea to sell as well as create our own logo for a food truck design, which we were to create using photoshop. I had chosen to create a taco food truck entitled TacoTime and its purpose was to sell tacos, of course. I had chosen a magenta and turquoise paint job because they are contrasting colours and I figured it would look visually appealing. I had added my taco logo onto it five times to ensure that it could be seen by passing people, as well as a website and a slogan; “best tacos in town”. The assignment process went relatively well, it was not too difficult and it was a fun little project however, like everything else, it required some planning and effort to ensure that it would turn out as well as it was imagined. From this assignment, I learnt different advertising techniques and how to successfully sell an idea to a targeted audience. If I could to this assignment again, I would probably try to fix some of the spacing of the images to ensure that the truck didn’t look too crowded. I can apply what I’ve learnt from this assignment to other classes if I ever need to advertise anything or make a visually appealing presentation, I can remember some of the concepts I had used for this assignment.

VIP Assignment
For this assignment, we were asked to use at least three points of interest each from our past, present and future to make a presentation about ourselves. The main goal of this presentation was to show off our digital media skills. For my project, I explored some elements from my past, which included; my birthplace, my musical history as well as the origin of my name. Elements from my present included; talking about art as well as writing and some elements from my future included; talking about where I want to see myself in the future such as being at university, studying a topic of my choice as well as keeping up with my music. This assignment went rather well however, it took quite a few hours to complete in regards to finding the necessary images for it as well as the editing process. I had definitely learnt more about digital media skills and editing skills thanks to my sister, who helped me a lot with the editing process. This assignment also caused me to realize how far I’ve come as an individual and had caused me to begin thinking to some extent about the future and where I’d like to see myself. If I could do this assignment again, I would want to redo the voice-over to ensure that it flowed a bit better. I can apply what I’ve learnt from this assignment to other situations such as at home, one of my passions include editing videos as well as create them sometimes and some of the new skills I’ve learnt from this class, such as different angles to take into consideration as well as new editing techniques could come in hand when creating new videos.
