What's the size of your sketch book?it looks so small
Some of my sketchbooks are very small- sometimes only 10cm by 7cm.
Sorry to take years to answer your question!

HI! You watercolors in art-journals are great! Do you pain them right on the place or you use a photo to finish at home? They seem so detailed! How much does it take you on average to finish one?
All my sketches, if they appear in sketch journal have been done on-the-spot. Studio work, of course relies more on photo reference.
Sorry to take years to answer your question!

Hi ! How are you ? I have a question about your work : How do you do to make not your paper crinkle ? What type of notebook do you use ?
I often use notebooks which actually use watercolor paper- thich enough to avoid wrinkling or uneven expansion and shrinkage....I avoid sketchbooks with thin paper.

Thank you for following. I like your drawings very much . I am reminded in some of Mervyn Peake (which I hope you will take as the compliment intended!).
I certainly do!

Keith- Can you talk a bit about your use of the litho pencil - how you came to it and when/why you use it? Conte crayon is (I think) the closest thing I've used on a regular basis. Thanks, as always. -Andy
I'm sorry not to have answered your question re litho pencils. I use them because some varieties are soft, which leaves a very rich, dark mark on the paper. If I don't have an actual litho pencil, (the kind used to draw by print makers to draw on a litho stone) , I substitute the kind of marker used to write on glass, plastic or metal....

Cafe, Playa de la Ropa, Zihuatanejo, Mexico, 6.5in. by 4.in., watercolor, gouache, collage on envelope., by Keith Miller
A postal art piece that because of the artist-created stamps, never actually passed through the postal service. The cafe scene was done on the spot in “Zihua”. The imagery in the stamps are from a couple of my oil paintings of coastal Mexico.

Wrestlers,  recto and verso, on postcard, 6.75in. by 5.25in., watercolor and collage by Keith Miller.
This is a submission for an postal art exhibition in Italy on the theme of “Care and Self-care”. The stamps used as well as  the air mail sticker are self-designed. The background image on the stamped side of the card is a reproduction of a mixed media scene, (from Pt Vallarta, Mexico)) originally done in a spiral-bound watercolor pad. The paper stock used for the postcard is a coated paper which makes for a strange surface to use for a watercolor.

View from Hotel in Madurai, litho pencil, 4in. by 3.5in. by Keith Miller.
I often stuck other types of paper from a variety of sources into sketchbooks, for example  hotel stationary, as seen above. Scraps of advertising posters and other litter is abundant in India so it’s possible to have a good choice of color and texture for drawing material in a sketchbook.
