It all started after the read-a-thon. Once it was over, teachers started to gather congratulating Melissa in the break room. Jacob asked about who got second place, and you let out a confident, “I did,” which was met by Melissa nodding her head at you and calling you, “good girl.”
Then, the two of you were in your classroom shortly after school. Both of you were exhausted from the long Monday, not exchanging many words. “Hon, can you bring me my water?” Melissa asked from one of the tables in your room. You sighed and leaned back in your chair at your desk. “You’re so far Mel, and my feet hurt,” you playfully whined. She gave you the biggest puppy dog eyes you’ve seen her do, and you were up from your seat delivering a water bottle. Melissa took it gently from your hand before lowly saying, “good girl.” You rolled your eyes at her and smiled like it didn’t make your stomach drop every single time she said it to you.
After a few more incidents like this, Melissa had a feeling that you liked the little nickname she gave you. Her suspicions were confirmed on the day she slipped up and said your pet name in front of everyone. Melissa sat in her usual spot during lunch, anxiously awaiting for you to come in. Before she knew it, the break room was full and she was still waiting. Just as she pulled out her phone to text you, you waltzed in carrying two bags from the corner store. “Your lunch, Schemmenti,” you said and smiled, setting one of the bags in front of her. “That’s my good girl,” Melissa said to you as you sat beside her. The rest of the room got a bit quieter as the two of you stared at each other. Now, Melissa could really see the blush on your cheeks, the quickness of your breath, the hard swallow when her eyes meet yours.
And in this position, you could finally read Melissa expression. Her eyes were dark and focused, her lips forming a smirk as she realizes you like it just as much as she does. Next to her, Barbara clears her throat, and everybody resumed what they were doing like nothing happened.
That same afternoon, Melissa found her way back to your classroom once the halls had cleared out. “Hey hon,” she said, walking up to the edge of your desk. Before you could reply, she continued. “You wanna tell me what that face was for during lunch?” Unable to come up with a good excuse quickly, you decided to just play dumb. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, lunch was fine.” You said, returning to your work. Melissa reached her hand under your chin and forced you to look at her. “I’m talking about when I called you my good girl.”
You squirmed under her, once again unable to come up with a response quickly. “I-Um,” was all you were able to say. “Tell me, do you like it when I call you that?” Melissa asked you, pulling her hand away. She put her hands on your chair’s armrests, now fully in your space. You nodded your head, as cloudy as it was. “Yes, I do,” you responded. The redhead smiled as she leaned in even closer to you, just inches away from your lips.
“That’s my good girl,” Melissa praised you, and finally let her lips touch yours. It was soft at first, full of nerves and care. You felt her tongue work its way between your lips, warm and dominant. As she pulled away, you couldn’t help but let out a whine.
“Aw, don’t be sad baby. I’ll meet you at seven for dinner, alright?” Melissa said as she cupped your cheek. Without waiting for a yes, she turned around and left you stunned, alone, in your classroom.
