(thoughts on penacony 2.0 trailblaze mission!)

PENACONY!!! 😍

just a warning, this is gonna be mostly aimless rambling about the penacony map and story. this includes spoilers!

i'm blown away on the production quality of penacony, both in the real world and the dream world. the music, special effects, skyline, whimsy... they put so much into the penacony experience and i love it

golden hour is massive and even though i took a detour countless of times from firefly's tour (I'M SO SORRY FIREFLY) there are still places i haven't fully explored! it's a pure delight ♪(´▽｀) i really enjoyed how they introduced penacony gameplay mechanics so naturally in the story

penacony puzzles in general are so unique and a huge step up from past regions! my favorite one is the clockie puzzle. i actually find them hard but they reminds me of puzzle games i used to play and i like that challenge

penacony food looked so delicious... 🌈🍦🍨🍩🍟🍰 sorry firefly i picked the most expensive item hoping we could share it

also HOLY F they are gf... i really love how gay stelle and firefly are (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ) wlw win... i also appreciate how gay acheron is too. i know what u are... after all, i am an avid hi3rd fan--

i was very pleased with the whole "touring around with a cute girl eating french fries dipped in ice cream" vibes we got with firefly! it's very cute... especially while playing as stelle (❁´◡`❁)

firefly's story is very touching... "a dream you don't want to wake up from" seems to be a big theme that's being set up for penacony. i believe acheron at the very beginning also questioned us about our willingness to stay in a dream and risk things for ones we care about, and firefly's love and reason for staying in penacony bring this theme back

this line thoroughly shattered me. please protect firefly...

other characters who stood out to me:

acheron. she's less of a scary badass than i expected, and she's actually really cute?! (gap moe?!) but perhaps my initial impression of her upon seeing her splash art ("spines and bloodied clothing... she looks like bad news!") might be true after all... 😳

sparkle. she is so catty and snarky! i didn't expect so much venom to come out of her mouth. i like more characters like this who deliberately antagonize others

misha. I HAVE A BIG THEORY about him ┌( ´_ゝ` )┐

i think misha is related to mikhail. this is entirely due to the voice during the trippy dream-in-a-dream sequence sounding just like misha's in the CN voiceover, so i could be totally wrong. but misha is quite special as someone who can see clockie and is the one who guided the trailblazer to golden hour

"mikhail," whoever he is, is too prominent in the trailblaze mission to be something unrelated to the mystery of the watchmaker. so my theory is also that mikhail and/or misha is involved with the origin of the watchmaker...

i have more thoughts about the latter half of the story but i'll add to this post when it comes to me later, it's late! thanks for reading!

first time clearing 2.5x difficulty!! this took long because i have skill issue, but towards the second half of the run i started clearing floors really quickly 😳 she is fun!!! i did basic attack spam, which is more engaging than i expected

it's been a long time since i last posted, but since FoV is out, i have to come back! (don't worry, i'm still deep in the hoyo pit, i just burned out on social media for a bit...)

extremely happy with how my garuda hua pulls went! (≧∇≦人) after a really long period of saving, i managed to get her SS rank with 4/4 gear! i took her for a whirl in ER and i'm delighted with her performance, she's fun and flexible! i like to start with a evade -> attack for a cool and satisfying parry ԅ(¯﹃¯ԅ)

(when i saw the parry gameplay in the trailer, i knew i had to commit to SS... thank goodness for the expa supply bonus boxes for saving my crystals. i still have some left over for part 2!)

speaking of part 2, i'm excited for it because coralie is einstein's adopted daughter and is so cute... i'm always hungering for more anti entropy so i'm already invested in her and whatever relationships might occur between the new main crew. there's already a prologue out for part 2 (i think!) so i'm looking forward to it!

still about 7380 books left when i exchanged mine~

also i was GLB server-wide ranking #54... 😳

it was a bit stressful because i realized i was JUST barely missing the 600 day mission advantage. i'm really glad they gave the option of clearing the mission by retaining redlotus. i ended up doing that but had to miss a couple of tokens due to not being able to clear all 3 floors... i was missing about 75 tokens when everyone was able to trade on monday! ∑( 口 ||

luckily, the next part of the current event opened up much earlier than friday abyss, so i completed that for the 4000 lone star mission! at that point, the artbook was secured! 💪 it also helps a lot that the server is much slower... maybe it's because the missions are a bit stricter than last year's

i'm really glad they gave us the chance to get it for free again, it's a really lovely way to reward dedicated fans :') excited to complete the artbook collection!

this is just a minor detour from the companion quest but it’s awesome that the daily mission events actually impact the overworld npcs! emily used to be so grumpy... this isn’t really something you would notice without speaking to all the npcs so i’m glad i took the time to do that ♪(´▽｀)

that blowup with screwllum was ice cold... but it’s funny that right after thinking “herta’s not in her usual place?!” she appears soon enough!

this was a really fun little adventure though... i love the lore that they revealed about the punklorde mentality cartridge! i can’t remember if the curio description went into detail about it but it’s cool that it’s like a legend for punklorde natives...

even screwllum thinks arlan’s fried rice is top tier. WHOLESOME

the girl talk between silver wolf and kafka was 10/10, it’s so lovely seeing them both drop their guard down so much that silver wolf can vent about her game accounts (RIP) and kafka willingly listens... i think at this point the stellaron hunter dynamic really clicked for me. silver wolf is such a gamer gremlin but the super cool, chill, scary kafka hangs out with her!!!

where are they, anyway?! is it perhaps an IPC territory? it reminds me of honkai’s arc city!

waking up from the dead to post another guy who wakes up from the dead ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ

IT'S BLAAAAAAADEEEEEEE!

i'm absolutely stoked to have him, and how could i not be!? this guy has the craziest animations! the dead eyed look as he shudders forward and retaliates with a slash at full stacks?! the reflection of his eye in his sword when he ults?!

i'm also having a feast over here admiring the little details in his outfit that i never noticed, like the gold spider lily decoration on his coat's left side. talk about STYLE!!!

his edgy but cool vibe is also fantastically done. it's a great contrast/chemistry with the other stellaron hunters!

since this is fresh off the very beginning of the 1.2 patch, i can't raise him just yet 😂 i'm looking forward to enjoying the new story quest and locations!

(i have a huge backlog of reactions from 1.1 to update this diary with but it will take a while... just wanted to post my first hsr W)

just some pulling plans...

i'm incredibly lucky to get blade at pull 79 (50/50 won)!!! good luck is so rare... i'm thankful for the gacha gods' mercy 🙏

for the rest of the pulls, i'm likely going to save for a future character or lynx! lynx being an abundance quantum character is just really appealing to me. plus she's a landau in serval's band... c'mon!

i'm also eye-ing kafka but honestly it's not a very wise choice, i just Like Women o(￣┰￣*)ゞ

if i pull for kafka, i don't know if i have it in me to also build serval, sampo, and luka for her team when i just got blade. maybe i'll get her on a rerun and complete the stellaron hunter family then!

hmm i think that's it?! fu xuan and imbibitor lunae look really cool, but i don't think i'll be deliberately aiming for them... who knows though, i was definitely not thinking of pulling blade until the 1.2 livestream happened and i saw his moves!

i didn’t expect to like her as much as i do now, but the stellaron hunters found family dynamic is really great to me, especially kafka and silver wolf’s relationship 

(plus i like her bronie vibes...) 

i’m looking forward to her companion quest! i’m excited to get her the event light cone. it’ll take a long time before i can properly get her up to speed but I’LL DO IT... I’LL BE UR FOLLOWER!!! (ROAR)

i feel like i sang many praises about xianzhou luofu’s environment already but the fact that it’s a ship and you can see so far below and it’s just clouds... i really love it, it feels very liminal. same chills as nagazora... (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ) 

this entry is heavy on world 2 content! if i were to give vague hints regarding what it covers... maybe from “diting” to “fu xuan”? 

onwards! 

AYO ITS THE SEVEN SWORDS VN GANG

YOOOOOOOOO ABYSS FLOWER?! (looks like it still has those powers over life and death...!)

OTTO-- i mean luocha-- IS SO CHILL HERE! i haven’t gone through the seven swords VN very closely but as far as i’m concerned, the personality checks out. really enjoying the parallels on how they meet

it’s also really cool that they’re previewing future character kits in the story! first kafka and silver wolf, and now luocha. i hope they keep this up!

already loving sushang’s countrygirl character... 

i just want to point out that this npc is actualy the npc from bailu’s character stories!!! i can’t believe she’s an actual npc in the overworld?! it makes the world seem so fleshed out!

for those who don’t know and want to know, i remembered reading that bailu once treated an incredibly young vidyadhara girl who kept undergoing the molting/reborn process every couple of weeks. i originally visualized it as an infant who kept reverting back to a newborn state (which was honestly scary) so it was a nice shock seeing her as a full grown woman here!

most of all, i never expected jinyu to be a romantic/heartbreaker! it’s such a surprising but understandable direction for her character to go in. grrr i love this worldbuilding... this is why i love talking to npcs 😤     

really love that they acknowledged the gay lions

i thought these two npcs were arguing at first but they’re a manzai/funny man straight man double act!!!! i immediately support 🙌

let’s jump in! this entry doesn’t cover that much of the main story and kinda has various here and there reactions. lots to love in terms of environment and characterization *(੭*ˊᵕˋ)੭*

yanqing!!! i’m keeping an eye on him because he was fu hua’s disciple in the seven swords vn! his outfit and animations are really cool too! we love xianxia style sword riding

i kept trying to take screenshots of the background because it’s really lovely! the vibes are immaculate... also i didn’t expect fu xuan to be power hungry 😂 

ok i apologize if i’m misremembering the dialogue since it’s been a while since i took these screenshots, but i really love the talk here about how unique the sky is and the burden that the alternative, an endless pitch black sky, would bring on those who live long. the views are stunning in the herta space station but yeah maybe not for 400 years... 😂

overall i just really enjoy this quirk of xianzhou luofu locals, it makes all the npc dialogue really interesting! i love worldbuilding like this

this sushang is so baby... i’m fairly certain she’s based on the seven swords vn version! the adapted design looks GREAT and i love that she’s throwing phoenix around in her ult

after the quest, i smugly ran straight for where capote and lamina used to stand around and found capote in one of those coffee rooms

to my surprise, he was very humbled by the experience?! i’m glad that he’s reflecting on himself! usually i kinda feel bad for my choice in these side quests, but i like this ending! 👍

i don’t think this is my first time i attempted SU3 (i’m pretty sure nanook sabatoged my first run lol) but i love the fact that we get to use CURIOS...! with curios and blessings, there’s a lot of potential for silly builds...

i have always wanted yoimiya but her banners were always at a bad time when i’m saving desperately... i’m so glad to finally have her!

she has one of the most gorgeous designs... really big fan of how asymmetrical it is. and i didn’t know her hair was so bouncy! (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

(now i have to level and gear her up... i’m not prepared at all because i didn’t expect to get her... (was aiming for kirara) i consider this a big win though, i’ll be in your care, yoimiya!)

we last left off with GETTING STABBED... the entire cutscene sequence leading up to the fight was incredible, i loved seeing mc and friends in action flipping all over the robot but... cocolia why 🤧 at least we got blasted into some strange mindspace...?! SO TRIPPY... ∑( 口 ||
