My multi-million dollar JPEG and the incredible NFT space
It’s been a while. Over the past year, I had been living a semi-retired lifestyle. Thanks to some fortunate investments, sports betting and crypto I was able to step away during what has been a shitty few years for everyone. Sure I was still placing the occasional bet, still investing in startups, but this all took an hour a day max. The rest of the time was spent doing whatever I wanted (apart from being allowed to leave the house… thanks Covid).
But at the start of the year, I saw an opportunity bigger than anything I have ever seen. I’ve ridden the Internet wave for the past 20 years and I knew this was going to be bigger than anything before it. Bigger than the birth of online gambling (where I turned over $1 billion), bigger than Matched betting, bigger than Sports betting, and I kid you not, bigger than crypto.
NOTE: Before I go too far along. We are in an everything bubble. Inside that massive everything bubble is an even bigger bubble in the NFT space. This is what happens with any new technology. We saw it in 2000 with the dot-com boom and bust, we saw it in 2017 with the crypto boom and bust and we will see it in 2022 with the NFT boom and bust. The key point here isn’t that there will be a bust (it will be massive and a lot of people will lose a lot of money), the key point is what happens after. What is the value of those tech companies that made it through the 2000 bust? what price are the cryptos that made it past the 2017 carnage? and the same will be said for the NFTs that made it past JPEG winter. A select few will make fortunes in this space, and a large majority will lose all their money. BE SAFE.
Since buying my first NFT in December of 2020 (and doing about 3 months of research before that), I have not stopped buying and researching the space. If you are not aware of the space, the current frenzy is around the 10k avatar projects, made famous recently by the Bored Ape Yacht Club, which was itself based on Cryptopunks. These are projects that take base layers and add traits on top of them to programmatically create 10,000 unique characters. When you buy one of these, you have no idea what you will get. Some are rare, some are common. People then use these as their social media avatars or try and flip them for profit.
You can think of them as digital collectables and like basketball and baseball cards, the earliest and rarest will increase in value over time. Continuing my luck in firsts, my first ever NFT purchase was a Beeple and my first ever 10k project was the Bored Apes. Beeple was the artist whose piece sold for $69 million and the Bored Apes are the second most expensive 10k project, with the most common varieties selling for $50,000 USD.
My luck continued as I minted a Gold ape, these are the rarest of the rare, with only 46 made out of 10,000. In the past 3 months, as this project has exploded in popularity, I have fielded offers over $500,000 USD and close to $1 million. I have also been asked to auction my Ape off at Sotheby’s auction house. 2 other gold apes have already sold for over $1 mil.
NOTE: I understand all this seems crazy and I agree. But we always have options in life, we can simply throw our hands up and say “I don’t understand this and won’t be a part of any of it”, or we can do a little bit of research and see if we can understand why these pictures might have some sort of value. It is not my place to push you in either direction. My only job here is to make you aware of this new crazy space and let you know how I feel about it.
My project
I have become so excited about this space that I decided the best way to learn was to create my own project. May as well dive as deep down the rabbit hole as I can. After buying hundreds of these projects, I have a feel of what will have value long term and what will be worthless in a few months. Taking all that knowledge and my past experience in the sports betting field, I created NFTeams.
1/10,000 randomly generated teams
What are NFTeams?
I’ll be explaining more over the coming weeks. But in essence, I am creating 10,000 programmatically generated sports teams. These will be part of the first ever Blockchain-based Sporting league. While the billionaires are the only ones able to buy NBA, NFL & EPL teams, anyone can become a franchise owner with NFTeams.
What do teams do each week? they compete with each other. So after we have created the league and have our own draft day, we will be developing a game much like the March Madness tournament. Your team will go up against all 10,000 teams in a month-long contest to crown 1 winner. That winner will be showered in prizes. Before it starts all over again the next month. Your team is your ticket into a skills-based competition each month.
The game is something I believe a lot of you will enjoy. The first version will be picking sporting event results. In week 1 of the tournament you will be put up against 5 other teams and your bracket will have 5 randomly selected sporting events that are happening over that weekend. Your goal is to pick the most winners out of your bracket (Line bets, Over/Under bets, so on). The winner goes on to do it again the week after as we whittle the 10,000 teams down to a final 8. Those final 8 will compete for the major prize.
That major prize will come from a $1million+ community fund.
In my 11 years of blogging about Sports betting, I only produced 5 videos. The main reason is I am an introvert at heart and it takes a heap of effort to put yourself out there on video. In the past month, I have produced 5 videos about the NFT space and my project. I am willing to feel embarrassed (and let myself look like an idiot), cause of how excited I am for this space. While I love the sports betting space, being able to combine it with the NFT space has made me a madman. I’m now working 20 hours a day and have the drive of the 30 year old Steve.
The videos will track my progress as I start from scratch and build out this product (sound familiar?). I’m using the same playbook I used to build up this site in the first place, learn and teach at the same time.
You can watch the first few videos below, and can subscribe to the channel to see the other content.
Warning: These are cringy and have a number of terrible dad jokes sprinkled in (especially the first 30 seconds of the first video).
youtube

youtube
So that is what I have been up to for the last few months. I hope you enjoy it enough to stick around and join me on my new journey.
How to get involved?
The NFTeams website will be up at the end of this week. But you can follow the Twitter account and join our ever-growing Discord channel. As always, I can’t wait to hear your feedback and if you had ever heard of this space before.

1st Quarter (Jan-Mar) 2021 Review +$30,760.00
Over the 10 and a half years I have been writing this blog, I have posted my weekly results for more than half a decade, before moving to Monthly results for the past few years. This next decade, I’ll be moving to Quarterly reports. This is the first-ever Quarterly report and will cover Q1 (January to March). I’m sure in another few years I will move to yearly updates.
December was a terrible month where I lost almost $30k. It has taken the past 3 months to recoup that loss. For me and the vast majority of Dailyprofit members (who place the same bets as me), it was just another drawdown that we eventually regained. But December was also the time Jonno and I were a bit more public on social media and with a few live youtube videos. This saw a lot of new members join the service (around 40). As is always the case, no matter how often I try and tell new members they need to set up a certain size bank and that drawdowns are 100% guaranteed, people never learn. They are looking for fast profits. With the exception of a few, after the horror December/January period, all these newbies left the service. If they had stuck around, they would now be in profit, and better yet, would have been through their first significant drawdown and know how to deal with the next one. I have no sympathy for those with short attention spans and expectations of immediate profit. If that is you, feel free to lose your money in crypto altcoins (at least there you have a better chance).
You would have noticed that I have not created much content this year, and my custom yearly update was not done. There are a few reasons for that. Currently, my interests are elsewhere and I don’t seem to have time to write. If you follow me on Twitter, I’m sure you know where I am spending my time (and wasting my money). The other reason (and the main one), was that we all went through a horrendous 2020, and 2021 while showing better signs is no walk in the park either. I was fortunate that a number of investments I made 7+ years ago started to bear fruit in 2020. If you have followed my story over the past decade, you know I started with a goal to make $2 million in 10 years so I could retire with a 4% withdrawal rate ($80k a year). I guess Bill Gates said it best:
Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years.
While I got the lump sum in 1 year, it was because of work I did 10 years prior. Without giving out figures (which I might eventually do), let me just say that I overshot by a multiple that I can’t even fathom. This was at the end of 2020 when Bitcoin was also only $30k, since then it has doubled again. But even if I had never invested in Cryptocurrencies, I still would have overshot my target with my other investments.
So woop woop to me, it’s hard to share my success publically, even though it was a 10-year overnight success :). Nobody really looks at the 10 years of prior work put in, at least I have this blog as proof of work (with sports betting at least).
Ok, onto how I went with Sports Betting over the past 3 months.
I placed 278 bets in Q1 and won 140 of them (50.4%). I turned over $360,030.00 and made a profit of $30,760.00 at 8.54% ROI. We can see that Jan and the first half of Feb were break-even (and mostly underwater). From the 18th of Feb, the NBA Totals took off. The funny thing was, all year we had been smashing the closing line on the NBA bets, but it wasn’t until recently that they have started to pay off. We also saw the last few NFL games in Q1 and the start of the NRL and AFL. I’ve also been having some fun with small stakes on NBA multis each day.
NFL
There were 7 more NFL bets placed in 2021. Only 2 of them won.
I turned over $20,600.00 on Totals bets and lost $7,230.00 at -35.1% ROI.
It ended up being a very poor NFL season. Between Line and Totals bets, I placed 119 bets and won 53 of them. I turned over $289,090.00 and lost $29,340.00 at -10.15% ROI.
NBA
For the past 5 years, the NBA totals have been the greatest sports betting model in the world, nothing comes close. Every year it has started on fire, apart from this year. While it continued to smash the closing line the majority of the time, it was not producing winners. But we all know that the only real metric you need to track is how often you beat the closing line, and the results will take care of themselves. This was the case here as Q1 has seen the model revert to its old winning ways.
I placed 211 Totals bets and won 117 of them (55.5%) in Q1. I turned over $325,610.00 and made a profit of $34,240.00 at a 10.5% ROI.
That brings the 20/21 NBA season’s current profit to $19,760.00 at 5.2% over 240 bets.
I’m also having some fun with $100 multis each day with the NBA. I’ve turned over $4,000 and made $790.00 this quarter at 19.8% ROI.
AFL and NRL
We are early in both sports season’s and I am betting 1/10th the size I do on the NBA for these two sports. Both have gotten off to pretty great starts over the small number of bets.
AFL has seen 4 wins from 8 bets with turnover of $2,140.00 and a profit of $1,030.00 at 48.1% ROI
NRL has seen 7 wins from 12 bets with turnover of $7,680.00 and a profit of $1,930.00 at a 25.1% ROI.
Still early days, and still impossible to get any sort of decent bet on big markets with Australian bookmakers. This is unlikely to ever change.
Next Quarter.
The NBA season will be into their playoffs at the end of Q2, and I feel the good results will continue until the end of the season.
We will be halfway through the NRL and AFL season at this stage as well, and that’s usually been a good time to stop following the models.
As always, I continue to simply spend as little time possible betting for the largest rewards. The answer has and will always be to follow the Sportpunter models.
Total Profit for Q1 2021 was $30,760.00

December 2020 Review -$29,980.00
A horrible December to end 2020 and move me from a small profit to a small loss for the year. It sucks to spend an entire year placing and following bets only to pay for the privilege. But when your timeframe is decades, one year really makes little difference. December saw a $30k loss and the entire 2020 saw a loss of $14,700.
I will have my yearly review out next week, followed a few weeks later by my 10-year review video.
In December, I placed 58 bets, won 17, lost 39, 2 were refunded. I lost $29,980.00 at -30.48% ROI.
NFL
The official NFL line bets ended in December and boy did they suck (all season long)
I turned over $23.430.00 on Totals bets and made $2,110.00 at 9.0% ROI.
I turned over $16,810.00 on Line bets and lost $16,810.00 at -100% ROI. (that’s right, 9 from 9 lost)
NFL Line bets season total saw a turnover of $171,000.00 for a loss of $22,970.00 at -13.4% ROI.
In total that brings the combined season to a loss of -$22,110.00 at -8.23% ROI.
NBA
The NBA has been the go-to model for the past 4-5 years. Without fail it has made massive gains the first few months of each season. Not this year though.
I turned over $57,310.00 on NBA Totals and lost $14,480.00 at -25.3% ROI.
I’ve also started betting a daily multi and have yet to hit a winner. Another $800 lost on those bets.
Next month
The NFL Totals will end and the NBA Totals will continue. Hopefully, 2021 is kinder to me then 2020 was from a betting perspective.
Total Loss for December was $29,980.00

November 2020 Review -$9,960.00
A big loss in the NFL in November. At one stage I was sitting on a $26,000 loss but thanks to a huge last week of the month, the total loss was a much better $10,000.
In November, I placed 41 bets, won 19, lost 21, 1 was refunded. I lost $9960.00 at -10.68% ROI.
NFL
Only the NFL to bet in November and it did not go well.
I turned over $32,2360.00 on Totals bets and lost $8,350.00 at -25.9% ROI.
I turned over $60,980.00 on Line bets and lost $1,610.00 at –2.6% ROI.
In total that brings the combined season to a loss of -$7,410.00 at -3.25% ROI.
Next month
The NBA starts again at the end of December. I can not wait for that. We still have the NFL going as well and I can only hope it turns the season around in December.
The Dailyprofit service will also be going up in price for the final time this year. We will be moving from $159 AUD per month to $199 AUD per month in early December. We will also have a cap of 140 members. That leaves around 18 spots open for the upcoming NBA season. The service now has more members paying a yearly subscription then a monthly one, which goes to show the immense value the service gives.

October 2020 Review +$80.00
A tiny profit in October as the NBA, AFL and NRL seasons ended. The NFL season is in full swing and I am betting both the Line and Totals.
In October, I placed 48 bets, won 23, lost 25, 1 was refunded. I made $80.00 profit at 0.09% ROI.
NBA
There were 5 bets to finish off the NBA season. I turned over $6,100.00 and lost $180.00 at -3.0% ROI.
That brings another NBA season to a close with total turnover of $639,200.00 and a profit of $39,640.00 at 6.2% ROI.
NRL
Just the 3 bets to end the NRL season. I turned over $350.00 and lost $190.00 for a -54.3% ROI.
That brings the season total to $3,740.00 profit at 10.2% ROI.
AFL
7 bets to end the AFL season. I turned over $1,160.00 and lost $50.00 at -4.3% ROI.
The brings the season total to a -$1,370.00 loss at -10.3% ROI.
NFL
The NFL models were at opposite ends of the spectrum in October. The Totals did amazing while the Line bets did poorly (mostly thanks to Dallas).
I turned over $41,800.00 on Totals bets and won $7,100.00 at 17% ROI.
I turned over $40,320.00 on Line bets and lost $6,600.00 at -16.4% ROI.
In total that brings the combined season to a profit of $2,550.00 at 1.88% ROI.
Next month
With just the NFL to bet on it’s been a nice peaceful time. The NBA looks set to restart near the end of December, so the next 2 months will be quiet before we go back to daily betting.
The Dailyprofit service will also be going up in price for the final time this year. We will be moving from $159 AUD per month to $199 AUD per month in early December. We will also have a cap of 140 members. That leaves around 14 spots open for the upcoming NBA season. Dailyprofit Update: NBA, NRL & AFL season results (+68.0638 units @ 6.53%)
Last weekend saw the end of the AFL and NRL season and 2 weeks prior we saw the end of the NBA season.
The Dailyprofit service offers these 3 sports plus the NFL. Let’s have a look at how the 3 just completed sports did this season before looking at how they work even better as part of a portfolio.
AFL
What was once the golden goose for the Sportpunter models has turned into a red rat. The last few seasons have not been kind to the AFL model and 2020 was no different. Jonno has looked into the reasons behind its fall from grace and believes there is still life left in the model. This season we were betting mostly on underdogs (average odds placed were $3.27) and 1 or 2 points the other way in close games and the graph below would have looked very different. Placing Line bets instead of H2H bets resulted in a small profit.
We placed 88 H2H bets and won just 27( 30.7%) of them. We turned over 113.45 units and lost 26.5517 units at –23.4% ROI.
Average bet amount: 1.2892 units, Average odds: $3.27, Largest drawdown: 24.07 units
NRL
In the NRL model, we see the complete opposite. It looks like we have turned the AFL results upside down. The NRL model has been a very strong performer over the past 5 seasons.
The NRL has certain filters in place. We do not bet on favs under $1.60. This means the average odds we bet on were $2.56. The average bet size is also much larger than the AFL, coming in at 3 units (compared to 1.29 for AFL).
This results in a higher turnover of 207.00 units with fewer bets (69 bets). We won 35 (50.7%) of those bets and made a profit of 32.1773 units at 15.5% ROI.
The largest drawdown was 20.02 units.
NBA
The superstar performer of the Sportpunter models for the past few years now. The NBA Totals keeps performing year after year. It continues to give enormous profits when seasons start (or restart) and still provides smaller profits throughout the rest of the year. With a heap of games on each day, we get to turnover a massive amount each season and make some big profits.
This season (which started way back in October of 2019 and ended almost a full year later) saw a turnover of 721.10 units over 416 bets. We won 225 (54.1%) of them and made a profit of 62.438 units at 8.7% ROI.
As these are totals, the average odds were $1.93 and the average bet size was 1.70 units.
The largest drawdown was 23.43 units.
Combined Results
If we combine all 3 sports for the period from 22nd of October 2019 to the 25th of October 2020 we can see two distinct and similar patterns either side of the covid break. An extremely strong start, followed by a few months of going nowhere. This is an ongoing trend with the Sportpunter models and something Jonno is looking at closer. We also tell members to stop following the AFL and NRL models after certain rounds. This year with covid, this rule was not followed for the official bets, so what you see are all bets advised for the entire season.
One thing to note is that each sport had a max drawdown of between 20-24 units. We can see that the combined results had a 29 unit drawdown. We advise members to have a combined bank of between 50-100 units, with 50 being very high risk and 100 being low risk. This seems about right going forward as you always want to have a bank at least double the largest drawdown.
If we were to add the NFL results over that same time period we would be adding another 19.8968 units profit to make the total profit over the year to be +87.9606 units. But that includes the end of last season and the start of this season.
NBA, AFL and NRL combined saw a turnover of 1041.55 units with a profit of 68.0638 units at 6.53% ROI.
Based on the number of members we have following the service and the average amount they bet per unit, we took over $2 million from the bookies in the past year just on these 3 sports.
Pricing increase
Currently, only the NFL season is running, but the NBA is restarting in January. We will once again be increasing prices a few weeks before the NBA season starts to $199 AUD per month. The current price is $159 and members stay on the rate they signed up at. We also have a cap of 150 members and based on how close we got to that this season and the success of the models, that cap will be reached before the NBA season starts. So set a reminder a few weeks before the NBA season to sign up if you are going to follow along.
If you have any questions about the service, head to the Dailyprofit site and use the chat function.
