After 2947383973638 years we get another Gruvia (date) cover!!!
Tumblr media
And what a total coincidence, but 2 days ago I started writing an AU fic about Gray buying a motorcycle to impress Juvia. 💙 I'm taking my time with it, but it looks like I just got the motivation to speed it up (pun intended)!

Questions and Answers
Gruvia Week 2023 | Day 2: Whisper
Summary: Gray decided to ask the one thing he had always wondered about Juvia, especially during nights when his demons caught up with him.
Disclaimer: Fairy Tail belongs to Hiro Mashima
Read it on: FF | AO3
“What is Gray-sama reading?” a familiar voice whispered in his ear.
Gray jumped, immediately closing the book he was so engrossed in and trying to hide it from Juvia’s view.
“Juvia! Where did you come from?” he hissed, trying to level down his voice as his words echoed in the vast chambers of Sabertooth’s library.
Juvia placed her hands on top of her lips, eyes wide. “Juvia is so sorry for scaring you, Gray-sama!” She plopped down beside him, eyes all apologetic and hands reaching out for his. “Juvia was just curious what’s got your attention so much. Gray-sama doesn’t usually read, you know.”
Gray scratched the back of his head. “Uh, it’s nothing,” he answered, looking away. “I just saw this book on a table and I thought — oi, what are you doing?!”

Ten years.
The first ever Gruvia Week was held in 2013. It is now 2023. Meaning, this is the 11th edition/Gruvia Week… but 10 years have passed since the creation of this blog and beloved event that’s been held on the exact same dates since the beginning (April 1st - April 7th). That’s right, the event date has never changed, never held early, nor late. To keep it this consistent and for so long is truly an accomplishment.
Thank you to all the wonderful fans that have kept this event alive for so long. It has been my pleasure to host this celebration for the last 10 years, and it’s because of you that I do so. All the dedicated Gruvia lovers deserve this. The fandom has changed a lot as time went on. People come and go. However, most notably, we have grown in more ways than one. Likewise, Gray and Juvia have gone through a tremendous amount of development in the last decade. They have confirmed mutual romantic love and a son that we have yet to meet in earthland, but still very much canon in the manga and drawn by the author (Hiro Mashima) of his own accord on multiple occasions. Despite this, we are still waiting for the day they “officially” get together. The setup and foreshadowing is there… He wants it, so Gray, confess to Juvia soon!
In the meantime, we celebrate the ship once again. Here are the official Gruvia Week 2023 prompts displayed in the image above. Just like in previous years these prompts are not complicated, but they are broad and meant to make you think. Be creative. Interpret them however you see fit. If you don’t know what a word means, look it up. Specific and basic prompts would result in different versions/entries of the same thing. That’s why Gruvia Week is so successful every year; imagination. Prompts for this event are always different every year. No repeats! See: Previous Gruvia Week editions
Those who are new to the week, unfamiliar, or would like to simply rehash, please click here to learn how to participate. Also be sure to follow the rules and guidelines. Feel free to ask questions, however please check this blog’s previous posts before submitting them. It’s possible your question could have already been answered.
Reminder: All pieces must be new. Old works will not be reblogged/included in the week. Be sure to specify the day/prompt used in your post. If you don’t have a tumblr, you can still participate. Post your work on any social media platform for that target audience. Participate anywhere; the more the merrier! However, if you’d like your work to be posted/featured here as well, be sure to submit it to this blog. Or submit the link to it (if posted on another platform such as twitter, instagram, wattpad, ao3, etc).
Reminders:
Tag your work with #gruvia week (with the space) within the first five tags.
Avoid using links in your post, as there is a chance it will not show up in the tags. Try using only five tags and no links if your post does not appear. If you must use a link, make sure it shows in the tags.
If your work contains an image or gif, make sure it’s within tumblr’s photo dimensions and size limits. Sometimes big images cause posts to not appear in tags.
It is YOUR responsibility to make sure your post shows up in the mobile and/or pc tags, so be sure to check if it does.
Gruvia Week will be held from April 1st - April 7th as always. Get ready and get creative!
Graphic/art by the wonderful and talented @goodnightlover. Thank you! ♡

Day Two: Whisper
“Gray, darling,” whispered Juvia into the ear of the sleeping raven-haired man next to her. A small smile spread across her lips as she pressed a kiss into his neck, just below his ear. “It’s time to wake up.”
“Mm,” he hummed, voice thick with sleep.
Juvia curled into Gray’s side and draped an arm across his chest. She breathed in his scent with a content sigh, still smiling. “Greige will be up soon. If we don’t hurry, we’ll run out of time.” She pressed a kiss to his throat and Gray rolled onto his side to face her.
He brushed her bangs out of her face, tucking the blue locks behind Juvia’s ear. “You’re awfully eager this morning,” said Gray.
Juvia smirked and propped herself up on her elbow. Her long, blue hair fell in curtains around her face, and the tips tickled at Gray’s face and neck below. “I’m just thankful for every day we get to spend like this,” she told him. “We had to go through a lot of pain to be this happy.”
Early morning light filtered into the room from the window near the bed, and it bathed them in the sun’s warmth. Juvia leaned in and pressed a chaste kiss to Gray’s lips. He lifted his hand, brushed his thumb along her cheekbone, then slid his fingers into her hair. As he entwined his fingers in that head of soft, blue hair, he reeled her back in. Juvia smiled into the kiss as their mouths parted. Their lips slot together perfectly – in the way a pair does when they have come to know each other after years of familiarity. Everything they had worked for led up to these tender moments.
The man Juvia would sacrifice her life for without a moment’s hesitation had finally become hers. They were together in every capacity of the word. That little house in the abandoned village where they spent six months shacking up together was now their home, and it was filled with joy and laughter, and tiny footsteps padding lightly against the hardwood floor.
“So much for that,” she whispered into the kiss as they pulled apart.
“Mama? Papa?” came a small voice in the doorway.
Juvia rolled off of Gray and sat up. She spread her arms wide and beckoned the child to come forward. Gray propped himself up as well. He wrapped one arm around Juvia’s waist and used the other to hug Greige once he climbed into bed with them. “Morning,” he pressed a kiss against the top of their son’s head, burying his face in black hair.
Greige curled up between them and rested his cheek against Juvia’s enlarged stomach. She combed her fingers through his hair lightly, smiling at their happy little family. His ear rested firmly in place, and when a particularly hard kick was made to Juvia’s insides, Griege shot up, his eyes filled with delight. “I felt my baby sister!” he exclaimed.
Juvia smiled and pressed a finger to her lips. “Shh, we can’t be too loud. You’ll startle her.”
Greige nodded, and shuffled back down into his spot between them, placing his head back on her stomach.

Day Three: Starlight
“You’re taking Juvia camping? Just the two of you?” Lucy raised a knowing brow. The grin on her face was so smug that if she had been one of the guys, Gray would have punched it off her the moment her lips twitched and tugged at the corners.
Gray glowered at her as he ate his lunch. “How did you hear about that?”
Lucy took a sip from the cup of tea she had sitting on the table in front of her. “I overheard you asking Mira for recommendations on a good place to go stargazing.” She bit her lip and cocked brow. “Got something special planned?”
God, she was as annoying as the fire-breather and the blue-haired cat. “You spend too much time with Natsu.”
She huffed in reply.
Gray sighed and leaned across the table. “Do you – do you think she’ll like it? I already set everything up for us to camp under the starlight. I just have to bring her to the spot.”
“It’s very romantic,” Lucy sighed dreamily. “You’ve really come a long way. I’m proud of you.”
“Shut up!” Gray rolled his eyes, blushing.
“Seriously, Gray. I remember how you used to always push Juvia away, but now look at you, planning romantic dates. If Juvia wasn’t already madly in love with you, she would fall for you hard like this.”
“You think?”
Lucy nodded slowly, then took another sip of her tea. “Yeah, so… Is there any particular reason you’re planning this romantic camping trip?”
There was no getting past Lucy. Gray wet his lips and ran his hands through his hair. He was nervous. This was a huge, life-changing moment and while Gray knew that Juvia loved him, there was always the possibility that she would say no. “It’s too soon, right?” He was panicking. They hadn’t been together in a romantic fashion for very long, despite how long they had known one another.
“Too soon for what?” Lucy teased. “You haven’t told me anything.”
Gray pursed his lips and knit his brows together into a frown. “Do you think she’ll say yes if – if I ask her to marry me?”
“Well, considering the fact that she’s planning to have thirty-two babies with you, I think you’re safe.”
He grimaced. “That’s too many kids.”
“Try telling Juvia that,” she laughed.
If she said yes to his proposal, Gray would need to have a very serious conversation with Juvia about how many potential children they had in the future. He could barely wrap his mind around one child, let alone thirty-two.
“Go.” Lucy shooed him. “Go get your girl and head out on your date. I’ve known both of you long enough to know that there’s no way Juvia will be able to refuse a romantic starlit camping trip with the love of her life.”

Gruvia Week 2023 - Day 2: Whisper
Faint moonlight cast a soft glow inside a small room of an old rickety inn as sounds of steady breathing coming from the silhouettes of two people sharing a single bed filled the silence of the night. Outside the old inn, everything was covered in white as powdery snow kept on falling from the dark sky. From time to time, the cold howling wind would blow giving the place an eerie vibe.
Such a scene was a normal occurrence up in the Northern Mountains of Fiore.
Back inside the small room, one of the two occupants was fast asleep while the other one was wide awake listening to nature’s creepy lullaby. Lying on their sides with their backs on each other, Juvia’s only indication that her ice mage companion was in slumber was his calm breathing. Unlike the unbothered man, the water mage couldn’t fall asleep.
Aside from the sound of the wind that didn’t really bother her that much, the fact that she was sharing a bed with the dark-haired man beside her was giving her heart an overdrive.
Earlier when they arrived looking for rooms to stay overnight, the cliché plot of not having enough available rooms occurred and left them with no choice.
They were on a mission to capture some rouge mages hiding in the snowy mountains and it was an easy job, but unfortunately, the weather hindered them from completing it on time.
Though the environment was to their advantage, risking being caught in a snowstorm was not part of their plan. Those fugitive mages they were tracking down won’t be able to leave the mountain anyway, so they decided to find a temporary shelter.
As the inn was the only lodging place they could find around the area, they didn’t have any options and it was Gray who decided that they would just share the room. It’s not like it was the first time they would be doing that.
It’s been a few months since the chaotic hundred years quest ended and Gray’s team returned. Within those months Juvia has gone on missions with the ice mage a few times.
The first one was her idea.
She noticed how Gray was no longer trying to pretend to avoid her or deflect her affections, so she tried her luck and asked him to go on a job together. He agreed, saying that would be a good way to catch up with each other after such a long time of not working together.  That one time was followed by another and then some more until going on missions more than a few times in a month became a routine. Unless necessary, Gray rarely went on a mission with his team. Most of the time it was him asking her to go on those jobs together.
To say that the water mage was happy about the sudden change between them was an understatement.
She was ecstatic.
In the past, it was always her initiating everything. She was the one asking Gray to go out with her, go on missions with her, and eat out with her. But recently it was him asking her to do things with him despite all the lame reasons he was giving every time that he did so.
Unable to force herself to sleep, Juvia opened her eyes and studied the empty wall of the room in front of her. Behind her, she could feel the slight rise and fall of Gray’s breathing.
When the battle is over, I’ll give you my answer…
She’s my power to live…
Out of nowhere, those words echoed in her head as her hand clutched the edge of her pillow.
Juvia knew without a doubt how Gray feels about her.
It’s certain that she occupies a place in his heart and she’s glad that Gray was getting more comfortable when it comes to showing his emotions. It’s just that she can’t stop herself from thinking of how long they are going to keep their unclear understanding.
With that thought, a wistful smile tugged on the sides of her lips.
Of course, if Gray didn’t want to do anything about it, she won’t force him. But at the end of the day, she’s still just a human and she could not avoid having hopes and expectations.
Deep inside her, she knew she was yearning for that answer that he promised her.
There were things she wanted to do and say but cannot due to their current relationship as nakamas who obviously harbor romantic feelings for each other but without an actual romantic relationship.
Her thoughts were futile.
There’s no point in thinking about such things. She had long proclaimed what she feels, and she already did what she had to do about her feelings in excessive ways. It’s no longer up to her how her relationship with Gray would further develop. If worse comes to worst, she could just continue loving him in her own way and cast away her hopes.
With that in mind, Juvia told herself to sleep and rest because she’ll need her energy to complete their mission when morning comes. She sighed once more and tried to block her train of thoughts that kept on nagging her.
When the wind blew once more, she unconsciously tugged her blanket to ward off the cold, but somehow it got tangled up with one of Gray’s legs and she felt the man behind her shift along with the force of her movement. He rolled on his other side and he’s now facing her back. She bit down on her lip when she felt his breath at the back of her head.
“Juv…”
Juvia’s body went rigid when she heard a low voice that seemed to be calling her name. Was Juvia dreaming already? She asked herself confusedly. Or maybe she was thinking too much and just hearing things?
But she was sure that it was Gray’s voice that she heard.
Was he sleep talking and calling out her name?
“Juvia,” there it goes again and this time it wasn’t just Gray’s voice that she could hear. She could also feel his hand on her side as his arm slowly moved around her waist. With a gentle tug, he pulled her closer to his chest and buried his face in the crook of her neck. “Can’t sleep?” he asked in a sleepy voice, his hot breath tickling her sensitive skin.
Juvia’s own breathing halted as her heartbeat hammered inside her chest, her face flushed and her mind frozen.
What just happened?
What is Gray-sama doing?!
Since Gray’s face was on Juvia’s neck, she felt it when his mouth moved, and a smile formed on his lips. “G-Gray-s-sama?”
“Hmm?”
Juvia swallowed hard when she heard his sexy hum. She was certain it was still snowing outside, and the temperature was still freezing cold, but she could feel herself heating up.
She had shared a room and a bed with Gray before. More than a few times, she had embraced and tackled him. They also shared a few physical contacts before, but as far as Juvia could remember, Gray had never initiated such intimate physical interaction.
“Gray-sama,” she called out again and though she didn’t stutter, her voice was a little hoarse. “Wh-why are you holding Juvia like this?”
Instead of responding to her question, Gray only tightened his arm around her. With how close their bodies were, Juvia could feel that she was not the only one whose heart was beating fast. After a few minutes of silence with only their breathing filling the room, Gray finally said something. “Am I not allowed to hold you like this?”
What?
Did she hear him right?
How was she supposed to answer that?
Obviously, she won’t stop him from holding her like that. But there’s more to that question that made her unable to think properly.
Juvia was just thinking about so many things, but why is Juvia’s mind suddenly blank!?  Juvia thought as she nibbled her lip.
The sudden turn of events was something she wasn’t expecting at all!
In the silence of the night Gray’s chuckle resonated within the room. “Don’t think too much about it,” he whispered. “I love you.”

one thing i love overthinking about the "Inoue, are you ok?" is that is more than "just" concern for her safety/well-being...
because as Ichigo gets to know Orihime and he learns how she acts:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he's genuinely building something with her where he shows that he cares for her true sentiments, everytime he specifically asks about her. He wants her to be safe and happy, but if she's not, and she hides and masks it beneath cheerfulness, he has learned that it hurts.
We talk a lot about how important Orihime was to get Ichigo to open up and deal with emotions, but it's great that he has an important effect on getting her not to hide as well: because hey, when she does express herself, when she lets the feelings-river flow (or you know, when rain comes up), she reaches him -- could she connect two hearts? yeah, she could. they did connect.
It's touch and go, and they still try to hide things to protect each other again, and again, but by constantly showing concern, they have both shown each other that they don't need to hide. Ichigo gets to be his true self around her, and Orihime gets to be her true self around him - a lot of smiles and jokes, but also tears of all kind.
When you ask someone you love "hey, are you ok? how are you?", you don't want them to fake a smile, you want them to be honest so you can be there for them - just like they are there for you. You want them to speak from the heart, because when they do, it means they trust you. And, imagine that, they might express something you are feeling too - whether if it's something just between the two of you, or to express the feeling of love and care shared between six people after a war, or the relief that your nerd friend-turned-enemy is still the guy you love.
They are so real, so healthy, they make me so soft 💕

To Lose and To Love
Pairing: Gruvia
Fandom: Fairy Tail
Rating: G
-----
She brought her knees to her chest.
When was the last time that she had be afraid? She never once faltered or questioned her skill at Phantom Lord. Maybe...maybe she was weak now. Maybe her abilities weren't as grand as what other had thought.
"Hey." Gray called out to her. "Get out of your head."
She turned her head slightly to look at him.
"Juvia was just-"
"It doesn't matter what is going on in there but its wrong. I can see your doubting yourself. You have no reason too." He said.
He wasn't lying to make her feel better, he rarely lied to her at all. She had no reason to consider herself worthless.
But even when she turned her head back to look at the grass beneath her feet, he could tell she wasn't going to let up. Slowly he reached his arm behind her back and pulled her to him. Suddenly her back was to his chest and she could feel his heart thumping.
"Just relax Juv." He whispered to her and brought her wrist to his lips and placed a kiss there.
"How could Juvia possibly relax when her love is holding her" She thought to herself.
She could hear a slight laugh come from his lips.
"I think you are scared." He said.
"Juvia isn't scared of them." She counted.
"I didn't say of the bad guys."
"Then what."
His arms tightened around her stomach bringing her more into his chest. His face hidden by her hair as his forehead rested against the back of her head. Even though she couldn't see his face, he didn't want her to know that his face was red.
"You are afraid because you finally have something to lose." He said honestly. "I don't think you worried about that in Phantom Lord because you didn't have anything to lose."
Juvia felt her lips quiver. The coldness that traced her spine earlier returned its familiar feeling. She didn't want to admit that he was right. She spent her entire life never needing anyone, never having someone to wish her well at the end of the day. Even her guild mates wouldn't bat an eyes when she walked in bloodied and bruised. Her life was expendable but she was good at being important for just the right people.
And now? Now she had a family. She had friends that would call her to see how her day was when she saw them that morning. A scrape on her leg could turn the guild hall into a frenzy to make sure she was okay. Her magic was apart of her, not the only reason she had a purpose. To was almost overwhelming for the water mage.
"Juvia...Juvia isn't afraid of that." She whimpered.
"Really?" Gray breathed out. "Because I am terrified of it. Scared that I'll turn around one day and the guild will be nothing but a distant memory. Scared that another person gone is just another tally mark for the people I've already lost. Its okay to be scared Juvia. It means that you are human and that you love. And I think you love harder than anyone I've ever met so I know that you are petrified."
Her hands began to shake and tears clouded her eyes. Gray's hands came over hers and he intertwined their fingers together.
"You're right Gray." She nearly cried. "Juvia's never felt this-this warmth before. Its breathtaking and wonderful and shes scared that she will snuffed it out like all those times before. It was easier to be back there in Phantom Lord. Easier to be ignored and hated because then fear couldn't control you. And now? Now Juvia's heart is full of people and its better than anything she could of imagined. But that means that it can be taken away and destroyed."
"You can't let the fear of losing someone stop you from loving them." He said unsure if it was only for her to hear. He swallowed and turned his head to some flowers that were growing at the base of the tree. "Its hard at first. Why keep going if everyone is going to leave you? Why fight hard if its easy to fall? I think after all these years I understand why we have to get through the pain."
"Why's that?" She asked.
"Because although losing someone is sad and it hurts.” He huffed. “The memories and joy that we have with them is greater. There was a time where I had wished that I had never met people of my past because then I wouldn’t have to feel this pain. But when I close my eyes and think of them, I see us smiling and being happy. So even if you ever lose someone, you have to promise me that you will remember how you lived with them, not how you lost them.”
Juvia turned in his lap to face him. Tears dripped from her eyes and a light shower came down around the area. He was sure anyone walking around was probably going to be come annoyed with the sudden shower, but it was beautiful to him.
She leaned forward and placed a kiss to his temple. “Juvia promises. But she doesn’t want to think about the possibility of losing you. For now, she will focus on loving you.”
His own eyes started to become misty. To have someone openly say that they wanted to love and cherish him was not something he was used to.
“Juvia, I-” She placed her finger on his lips.
“Juvia knows, my love.” She nodded and a small smile graced her lips.
While she was afraid of losing, he was secretly afraid of loving. How could he tell her to remember who you loved when he was scared to give it and have it ripped away.
Juvia stood and walked a few feet away to wipe her eyes.
No. He was done being scared. Losing is what is scary. Never holding someone again is painful. What is worst is when you never held them at all.
“Juvia.” He called out to her as he stood.
She turned and her eyes widen as he was right in front of her. His hand came around to her waist and pulled her forward as his lips met hers. She instantly melted to him and her arms came around his neck. They fit perfectly against each other as if all their suffering in the past was to bring them together.
The broke for air and she pressed her face in his chest to hide the redness of her cheeks. They had kissed many times before but it felt different. More urgent and longing than anything else.
“Hey.” He whispered and tilted her chin up. “I love you Juvia.”
Her eyes widened again and he swore the sun broke through the clouds.
Her lips began to tremble so he leaned in and kissed her again.
“I think losing you would absolutely destroy me. There would be no hope for me if I could never see you again. But if I don’t love you for everything that you are and everything that you deserve, then I would have no right to be in anguish.” Gray said.
“Then let us love each other so when we do have to say goodbye one day, it can be after years of having each other.” She smiled.
“That sounds perfect, Juv.”
---
I hope everyone reading enjoyed!
