How to say the rules
Last saturday, my classmates and I made an interesting exercise, we were hotel managers. We had to create rules for the staff of our hotel, administration, kitchen, receptionist, clothes staff. We had to think ideas about how to administer the hotel. In English, We use Can / Can’t / have to / don’t have/ to say rules. Can / Can’t Prohibition or permission

Finally, I understood
The last class was special. I learned how to use the verb + ing. I felt a light in my mind. verb + ing, not always is a gerund. This was my mistake.
Verb + ING use to:
When it is present continuous, verb to be + -ing forms the main verb
after verbs like, love, prefer and hate, the follow verb has +ing.
When the verb gets into a subject
When a verb is the subject of a sentence
When a verb is an adjective

Comparison of adjectives and Superlative adjectives
The last class was very interesting. We learnt to use comparative adjectives. There are three degrees: 1) Positive Degree, 2) Comparative Degree, 3) Superlative Degree.
In positive degree the adjectives only described the qualities of nouns.
In the comparative degree, we compare two or more things and we have to use the word “than”, for example, Manizales is colder than Bogotá.
In the superlative degree, the comparison is the one thing with all the others in a group, for example, December is the best month of the year.
In the two cases, comparative and superlative, we have to follow the rules.

Present Continuous
How can you talk about an action that continuous in the present? For example, your daughter is singing a Shakira`s song.
This is the present continuous and in English you have to add “ing” to the main verb, for example
sing + ing = singing.
The present form of the verb to be is always before the verb in present continuos.
In class, we played to guess actions. It was very fun. Wilmer explained us how to form the present continuous but he said that to add “ING” to the verb not always forms the present continuous. It can be an adjective of purpose, too. Its very important to understand the context of the sentence.

Tips for not making mistakes
In the last class, we learnt how to use definite and indefinite articles
Sometimes, we think is easy but it is not true.
There are some rules for definite article
Don`t use article “THE”
1. When we talk about specific nouns. For example, Everest is wonderful mountain or Time Square is a very nice place. We don’t say the Everest or The Time Square.
2. When we talk about nouns in general. For example, water is healthy for life or money is a great problem for people.
Use article “THE”
1. When we talk about things or persons again, for example,
Traffic is something that Bogotá citizens hate. The traffic is most heavy in the afternoon.

The “Schwa”
Reflections about class
The first class was very interesting. I learnt about an important sound in English, the “Schwa”.
The “Schwa” is a short vowel sound. We don’t have this sound in the Spanish language.
This sound is in words such as, “a", “the”, "of" and “that”. This phonetic symbol is similar to an "e “ upside down /ə /
If you want to speak English very good, you must learn to pronounce this sound because the “Schwa” is in most words with two syllables.
To make this sound, just relax your mouth. This is the trick, but it’s very difficult to make it and is necessary to practice all the time. The “Schwa” is a natural sound for an English-speaking person.
Our teacher, Wilmer Casallas, said that students don’t forget it. The “Schwa” is very important if we want to speak English.
