"That's my name!" She looks much too proud of herself over the reaction she managed to pull from the dark mage...as if it was difficult. Her smile only grows wider to match his own, leaning in closer in her excitement. "Too long! Which means we better get start-- oh!"
He brought up a pretty good point! Her newest deck also had a pretty special card inside that she couldn't risk getting ruined. "Hm! Well-- we could go to a classroom or somethin'! Most of 'em are probably empty by now!" She quickly gathers up her deck, holding it to her chest. "Unless ya got a better idea?"

"If it makes ya feel any better, you can spin this as you being a helpless victim in my scheme. Whatever clears your conscious durin' your next confessional." She giggles, noticing how Veyle leans and pulls her by the shoulder. "Yep-- and you're gonna do a real good job! I can just feel it-- and maybe you'll even have a lil bit of fun!"
Tumblr media
"...Yes, yes-- I promise...I'd rather just give it to 'em myself, though." She hadn't meant to imply her distrust in the church, especially with how long she's called it her home, but...you never knew who would have their hands in the pot. "But whatever gets you to play along!"
The thief scurries off suddenly, standing just far enough from the back of the stage to be noticed, but close enough to make a run for the sword when the time was right. She raises her hand up high, giving Veyle a thumbs up-- the go sign to start their plan!

"You don't know that!" She sighs, holding the sheers in her hand with a look of disgust. "And even if it does-- you're still ruinin' the hard work of others!" Patty moves over to the flower, gently touching the wilting petals. "Yeah, I kinda do, actually-- ain't that how gardening works in general?"
It was clear that the others had already taken care of it today, there really wasn't much else to do-- but she felt the need to prove Miranda wrong...somehow.
But how does one just bring a flower back to life? She was hardly a gardener at the best of times, but this wasn't as simple. "It's rare, Miranda, not just special. Every flower's important-- if that was really what'cha cared 'bout why didn't'ja try and take care of the others instead of prunin' this one?"
Tumblr media
"Don't they all got stories? Just like you and I? Seems like you're just reeeeal mad at this flower for some reason, 'randa."

A lot of people who knew her considered the thief to be naĂŻve, perhaps a tad childish, but even she knew that the people around her had absolutely lost their minds. It didn't take a genius to see that it was certainly not Winter and no amount of frilly decorations would change that.
But who wouldn't take this as an opportunity to have some fun?
She didn't bother questioning them out loud, instead she helped them set up, laughing along and smiling as she tried to ignore whatever impending doom was soon approaching. Once they were done she could go back to caring, but for now...celebrating a few moons early wouldn't hurt anyone.
Patty walks over to the boxes of decorations lined up, quickly spotting a woman about her age contemplating. "Oh-- are you helpin' out with the festivities too?" She flashes her a toothy grin, picking up a white and blue garland from the pile. "And it looks like you're havin' a real hard time-- I can help ya out if ya want!"

Seminars are encouraged at the monastery. They help others learn from their peers while strengthening friendship at the same time. Well
most seminars. This seminar, on the other hand, is on
the basis of keeping one’s composure? That’s what the paper says, after all. “Learn how to withstand interrogations that may test your emotional and physical strength.” What wasn’t included in the description was that the instructor would attack you the moment you arrived at the meeting place! By their words, they’ll chase you and your partner through a booby-trapped forest to raise the tension, but if you’re caught
Well, they only smile at you and count down. [Grants Sword +1] @reddragonprincess
At first Patty was all for the idea. A seminar where she would learn how to withstand interrogation tactics would come in handy for a thief— probably. The chances of being held prisoner until she fessed up the location of some stolen treasure
they were low, but not zero. But from the moment she arrived it became obvious that this was something much different. Her and her partner were thrown into a gauntlet of nightmares, chased by the teacher as soon as they stood in their sight.
It didn't take long for Patty to lose her partner entirely in the fray. She doesn't know if they simply ran in different directions or if the other fell into a trap, but considering there was a lady with a sword running after her with threatening intent...she really didn't care. If anything, she was slightly disappointed that the teacher didn't find them first.
"This-- c'mon-- can't we just call it a truce!? Ya can mark me as-- absent if ya have to just--" her body was starting to give out, lungs and legs on fire with each and every step she took. At this rate she was going to get caught, and when she was cornered on the ground...what then?
Before she couldn't move any longer, Patty bolted towards a tree and grabbing a random branch on the ground. "Alright! I've-- had enough of this, okay!? I ain't running anymore so--" she holds the branch up in front of her in a somewhat defense stance, eyes darting around as if there was even a glimmer of hope hiding within the woods.

Understand. Try to understand— what else was there to understand!? This woman had a hand in the worst moments of her life! Even if she did not start this mess
she certainly had no hand in ending it. “See them!? Excuse me— you say you’re sorry, that ya can’t bring people back— but ya expect to win!? To be allowed some kinda closure!? You’re— you’re kiddin’ me!” Of course Patty was just making assumptions. She didn't actually know who Ishtar was referring to when she said them...but she didn't care.
There were a lot of people she would've loved to see again, but they had died during those hunts.
“I swear to Bragi— I will never let ya win! Not after everythin’— because
a sad pathetic look on your face doesn’t fix anythin’!” She pulls back on the string of her bow, watching carefully as Ishtar approaches with a dagger in her hand. It felt almost too simple— so long as she kept her distance Patty would surely maintain the upper hand
but the voice in the back of her head called for caution, that the other woman was much craftier than Patty would anticipate—
Crafty or not, it didn’t matter. Patty’s arrow soars towards her shoulder in an attempt to hinder her ability to fight back, if she even would. “
It ain’t fair. Wishin’ to see people again— do you even get how selfish that is?”

There is a sigh of relief when he agrees to her naïve request, fighting the urge to jump and hug the man in delight. Now wasn’t the time for her to get carried away. The wyvern had to be taken care of as soon as possible
and if she didn’t manage to heal it, well— there was really only one option left for the poor thing.
“Oh— yeah! I can— I’m still learnin’ the bow, I admit
but I’ve been gettin’ real good! Not as good as my brother or mom or nothin’ but
” There is a moment of clarity where she can’t help but cringe at herself, for once fully aware of just how little confidence her words probably offer. “Just lemme try, alright? I promise, I can do it!”
She fumbles for a moment with her bag, pulling out the finest bow she had given that she was just above a novice. It’s cool against her hands, nearly stinging the longer she lets it sit there. “Okay— lemme just
” Slowly she raises it to the sky, watching as the wyvern flies in a broken pattern— it was clearly in a great amount of pain
and if she couldn’t do this right, it would only suffer more, unable to give it the mercy of dying without her foolish attempt at saving its life.
The arrow soars, clipping the wyvern’s wings just as she had planned
but the look on her face is less than pleased. It’s almost as if she had made a mistake, let go of the bowstring without ever meaning to— like it had been a lucky shot despite her nerves.
“We— we gotta go check on it! It— it’s probably okay, right? I don’t think I hit it anywhere but it’s wing, but—” Shaking her head she quickly puts the bow away, running towards where the wyvern would have fallen. “We’ll have to check what happened to it! That way— I can try and heal it!”

“Oh,” her tone immediately deflates, looking a lot less pleased, “guess that makes sense. Ya don’t really seem the type who likes other people’s relationships I guess.” She could imagine him scowling at the sight of a happy couple walking in the park, perhaps even making a scoff so that his distaste was known to all.
The image she had conjured was all but confirmed as he continued. “What!? No— c’mon, Uncle Andrei! It’s makin’ people happy, ain’t it? So what’s the problem!?” There was definitely a moral issue with making people fall in love with each other, she was well aware
but sometimes desperation beat out rational thinking. “It probably ain’t even real anyway— there’s no way you of all people believe in it, right?”
The thief puffs out her cheeks, pouting as she crosses her arms over her chest. “Come on
even you know I don’t wanna try it just so I can practice my shot.” She sighs dramatically, rolling her eyes. “I just
wanted to see if maaaaaybe it works, ya know? Like, maybe it’ll get me a handsome man droolin’ all over me? Hopefully rich? And noble? But ya know, that’s just
a theory.”

It really pissed her off. Higher ups were always rotten no matter where she went-- they were the same here than they were back in Judgral! Only looking out for themselves, and now they were dragging innocent children and their families into it! If she had the chance she would happily show them a piece of her mind--
...But for now that didn't matter. She had been tasked to help the children, and making sure they got home safely was much more important than some vendetta (though she certainly would not let it go that easily).
Unlike her companion Patty did quite well with the children, doing as best as she could to keep them distracted on the walk home...but children couldn't help but flock to the people who wanted nothing to do with them.
"Hm? Oh, yeah-- I'm great with kids! Back home the orphanage's got dozens of 'em just runnin' around." She looks down at a kid glued to her hip, ruffling his hair. "Seems like they like ya too. You're not good with kids...?" Erk...seemed just about as old as some of the kids there.
Bold coming from her.
"Ya know
it really sucks that we even gotta do this. I mean
it just ain’t fair.”

With the coming of peace, it allows people time again to enjoy leisurely pursuits. Art appreciation and games return. One noble re-introduces an old deck of cards, each painted with a monster, spell, or trap, to the people of Garreg Mach and the game spreads like wildfire again. Everyone scrambles to dig out their own decks, or gather new ones, and become the most powerful summoner on the continent. Merchants and artists even begin to sell new sets, breathing life into the game for those who had played it the first time, and providing a fresh entry point for newcomers as well. Care for a game? [Grants Authority +1] @pirrhyc
Of course the moment Patty heard that their favourite little card game was gaining popularity again she had to track Pelleas down for another round. She was quick to buy a few of the new packs to fluff up her (now) outdated deck, hunting for only the strongest cards to prepare for their duel.
The duel that Pelleas didn’t know about. Yet. But Patty knew he was a smart guy— he definitely knew she would strike now that everyone was playing again.
She waited until he was alone, following behind while trying to draw as little attention to herself as possible. Only when he was sat down to eat did she finally make her presence known.
“Pelleas!” The thief throws herself towards the table, her deck hitting the wood with a loud thunk. “Bet’cha know why I’m here, don’t’cha?” As if the cards weren’t a dead giveaway. “It’s been too long since our last duel! So c’mon— pull out your deck and lets get fightin’! I hope ya managed to pull some of the new meta cards— ‘cuz I made sure to put together the best deck EVER!”

She expects for him to nag her, or maybe even call the guards on her. If he did that she was certainly lose her spot at the academy, sent back home with nothing to show for herself but a waste of money—
“
Huh? I mean— thanks? I didn’t think I was that good but if ya really think so—“ Wait
what? “You’re
just gonna let me take ‘em? Seriously? But this is your business— and I ain’t even payin’ ya.” This guy was either the nicest man on Earth
or he was just plain stupid.
Why was she complaining, anyway?
Suddenly his motives made sense, but even then it felt almost too generous. It would be much easier to just take whatever food she could and run off, maybe find some new schmuck she could take from
but something about that felt wrong, especially when he was offering to help her be an honest person leading a semi honest life.
“
Alright— if ya teach me how, I’ll grow some veggies with ya. I mean, it looks like ya know what you’re doin’! So I’m in good hands, right?”

"It's okay!" She gives her a smile and a small pat on the back. "Ya didn't know, so no harm done...but is that really true?" That type of logic never made sense to Patty. Many a time did she find herself stealing back what was taken from her just so she could survive. Even if people didn't understand it, there were times were certain crimes are the only option people have left.
"Let's say some of these parents and their kids don't got a lotta money-- saved up as much as they could just so they could give their kids a nice, fun day. The kids don't know better half of the time, they can't spot a fake trick like this as well as you and I...but mom and dad can't find it to say no. They don't wanna disappoint, not when they rarely get to do stuff like this...so they let this man rip 'em off just so their kids can smile."
Tumblr media
"I got an idea, but it only works if ya help me out, 'kay? I can get that sword and all his money-- ya just gotta trust me!" A tall ask seeing as how they just met...but hopefully her little speech pulled at her heart strings.
"Ya go up there and try your luck, but ya have to make a big stink 'bout it, 'kay? Challenge the guy, claim you're an ancient princess and that sword is your birthright if ya gotta-- but make a bet! Tell him ya want all his money if ya pull it out...and while he's flustered and everyone's watchin' ya, I'll get it all loosened up for ya. Sound like a plan?" No girl.

He’s perfect.
She practically has to pick her jaw up from off of the floor at the sheer sight of him. It's hard to believe their paths hadn't crossed once before-- she's sure that she would have chased him to the ends of the earth if she had gotten a glance at him. The only thing Leif had told her about him was that he was noble, and while that was definitely all it took...figures a tactless guy like Leif wouldn't know handsome if it bit him!
"Yep, that's me! Patricia-- but all my friends call me Patty!" She flashes her usual grin, taking his hand as daintily as she can manage. Finally all of her practicing would come into play! The blonde eyes him up, watching his every movement like he was putting on some kind of show. "Well, that's good-- if he said anythin' bad...he better sleep with one eye open! And uh-- he also only said good things 'bout'cha too! Cross my heart!"
That's right, they would be riding today! For a moment she looks nervous, though she does her best to play it off. "Oh, yeah! Definitely! I've never done it before, though...so you'll need to help me lots."
The imagine of her sitting behind him as he rides his noble steed is vivid. She would wrap her arms around his torso, acting as if she was afraid to fall off, but in reality she just wanted to get a feel of his a--
Her daydream is interrupted when the wolf snaps at him, knocking him over. "Ah-- are you alright!?" She goes to give him a hand, turning to the wolf. "Aha-- I'd love to! Just promise you'll make sure I don't fall, alright? Wouldn't be nice if a lady like myself got hurt."
my bro leif said he'd put in a good word
Horses, pegasi, wyverns, kinshi, and now riding wolves and griffons - the monastery’s menagerie keeps on growing, and the stables can barely contain all of them anymore! The Church calls students, Professors and Knights alike to help ensure that all of these animals have proper care. It’s also important to them that everyone knows how to take care of and handle all of these different species, in the name of versatility, broader horizons, and preserving harmony. Perhaps you will take this chance to bond with a new mount you’d never even considered before? [Grants Riding +1]

“ So there you are. Happy holidays, Patty, ”  Leif greets the thief, lugging a sack of presents with him for the day.  “ I kind of look like you do normally, don't I? ”
Back in the war, how could anyone forget the sight of Patty with her big bag of stolen goods, after all? She dashed through battlefields with it like it was nothing, and she made off with a pretty penny while doing it too. It was impressive in its own way, really, but that's not what he's here to talk about today. He needed to make his way through his own makeshift battlefield after all!
Pulling out a present box from his bag, he holds it out to her.  “ For you for the Winter Festival. I had a little practice making this, and it seems fine, so... ”
Upon opening the gift, Patty would find a pot of rouge in there. It's a bright scarlet color, perhaps a bit bolder and more mature than one might associate with the blonde, but...  “ You're still looking for someone to marry, right? Then this might make them turn their head towards you. ”
It's not the most popular color according to the trends right now, but it's a classic. It's not demure; it's eye-catching. If Patty wanted prey, then Leif assumed this would be the right path to go.
“ Let me know how the husband hunting goes. ”
Shifting the sack over his shoulder again, he finds himself sincere in his words even if he might seem nonchalant about it. There's a part of him invested to hear how Patty's trials of love continue, if she might one day find her success.

What an odd sight.
She stares blankly as Leif trudges along with his bag, looking like a novice thief who took more than they could chew-- which only makes his lighthearted comment sting...just a tad, though. "A lil, yeah-- ya didn't start a no good dishonest life, did'ja? 's a tough look to pull off, especially for a prince!"
The box takes her by surprise, holding it gently in her palms as if it were made of glass. It wasn't often that she found herself receiving a gift, holiday or not. "Oh-- ya really didn't hafta!" And yet her grin is hard to mask, slowly opening the box as to not look too desperate.
"This-- Leif-- you're sure this is for me?" She blinks a couple of times, half convinced it was apart of a dream. "...Do ya think it'll even suit me? This shade of red and all-- ah, but I'll try it on later!" The thought made her giddy, like a child preparing to play with her mother's lipstick in the mirror.
Tumblr media
"I will! In fact, you'll be the first one invited to the wedding! Just don't tell Febail I said that, alright!?" She giggles, giving Leif a small wave as he walks off to continue his gifting crusade.
"...I'll hafta go and make him somethin' as a thank you, huh...?"

Doorways: Decorating each doorway is a sprig of fresh mistletoe. Rumor has it that it's a Chalphy tradition for two people to share a kiss if they are caught under it together. You wouldn't deny the tradition of your hosts, would you?
As much as she wants to thank Patty again, the thought of doing so not only in front of other people in front of mortifying, to say nothing of how she would feel saying it directly in front of their host. Furthermore, she would either need to lean over Sara or bump into the seat behind her to speak to Patty if she wished to speak to her at the table, which she certainly did not.
One would think that she could simply talk to Patty alone, but this proves to be more of a challenge than Miranda would have expected.
Simply put, the girl will not stay put for two seconds. She flits here and there, talking to anyone and everyone. She waits, hoping to catch her alone and get her thanks over with, but every time Patty stops talking to one person, she immediately finds another person to strike up conversation with. This cycle continues on for what feels like an eternity, leaping from person to person as Miranda stands an awkward distance away waiting for her turn.
Does she ever tire of talking?!
She finally manages to catch the blonde girl between conversations, halfway through a door to who knows where. The bundle tied up on the top of the door frame is the least of her concerns, glare focused entirely on the other girl.
"Patty!" Miranda's hand shoots out to catch her by the wrist in a vicegrip. "I have been trying to thank you for giving me that dish all night! For what reason are you so unreasonably hard to get a hold of?! Just how many people do you know?"
Patty was always a busy lady. She couldn’t help being such a social butterfly! There were a lot of familiar faces floating around, ones that she just had to say hi to! The goal was to get to everyone in the end, even those she didn’t quite know, and—
A hand is wrapped around her wrist, pulling Patty backwards from the sudden halt in momentum. She
knew that voice. “Miranda!?” Her mouth opens to continue speaking, to tell Miranda that she could have just waited until the end of the party when there was no one to talk to— but her eyes trail up for a second too long. But
it seemed as if Miranda hadn’t noticed yet.
“U-uh!” Uncharacteristic of her she stutters, her face growing redder by the second. “I’m just, ya know! A real friendly gal! So—“

Miranda. Can ya please look up?”
