“It has nothing to do with effort. Just turn away, look between the thoughts, rather than at the thoughts. When you happen to walk in a crowd, you do not fight every man you meet, you just find your way between. When you fight, you invite a fight. But when you do not resist, you meet no resistance. When you refuse to play the game, you are out of it.”

Likely Massospora cicadina - it is an entomopathogenic (infects insects) fungus that attacks cicadas, often infecting them before they even make it above-ground.

Self-Love: Aloneness, Togetherness, and Humor
Self-love is the revelation that the Self is Love. That is the self-love that needs no reason, no justification, and no explanation. It relies on nothing in order to be known. It simply radiates.
In today’s society, we are encouraged and conditioned to love ourselves in an objectified way. You look in the proverbial mirror and love something about yourself, whether that be your physical body, your life circumstances, or some achievement you have unlocked.
Yet all of those forms of love are weak because they are susceptible to attack and change. Your physical body will not always be beautiful nor should we obsess the idea of beauty into being necessary for happiness. Your life circumstances will wax and wane, there being good times and bad. And your achievements, no matter how grand, will dissolve in the passage of time.
Love, real love, is the fragrance of your primordial existence. When our separateness and egos diminish, the divine fullness that emphasizes our interconnectivity manifests itself and that feeling is Love.
How to taste the depth, intimacy, and sweetness of this Love?
In aloneness, you meet yourself without the proverbial mirror. You discover yourself without body, without circumstance, without likes, dislikes, ambitions, and fears. You discover your living reality, the brightly conscious quality of pure awareness. Daily meditation works to plunge you into the heart of this.
In togetherness, you learn how to appreciate your own suffering, how it connects you to others who have suffered similarly, and how the experience of suffering in general connects all who have suffered. By accepting these feelings and meeting them with loving compassion for friends, for strangers, and for enemies, you learn to broaden your heart and your love. Tonglen meditation is a peerless practice in that endeavor.
Lastly, with humor you find a space for senseless joy. Laughter is a way to commune, connect, and forgive. Without our sense of humor, life tends to lose its juiciness and luster. No matter what, you can always laugh. There is something liberating and purifying in the energy of humor. Find it and enjoy it.
Contemplate and practice all of this and you will find yourself to be the Love you seek.
Namaste friends.

Quote
The man who knows the Truth Is never unhappy in the world, For He alone fills the Universe.  It is hard to find a man who has No desire for what he has not tasted Or who tastes the world and is untouched. He does not want the world to  End, he does not mind if it lasts. Whatever he does, he does nothing. And for what he has become, There is no name.

Ultimately you will come to see that you are neither the particular nor the universal, you are beyond both. As the tiny point of a pencil can draw innumerable pictures, so does the dimensionless point of awareness draw the contents of the vast universe. Find that point and be free.

The inhalation, the return movement of breath, Sustains life. The outgoing breath Purifies life. These are the two poles Between which respiration goes on unceasingly. Between them is every delight you could desire. Even when the senses are turned outward, Your attention on the external world, Attend also to the inner throb, The pulsing of the creative impulse within you.

Does the past take up a great deal of your attention? Do you frequently talk and think about it, either positively or negatively? The great things that you have achieved, your adventures or experiences, or your victim story and the dreadful things that were done to you, or maybe what you did to someone else? Are your thought processes creating guilt, pride, resentment, anger, regret, or self-pity? Then you are not only reinforcing a false sense of self but also helping to accelerate your body’s aging process by creating an accumulation of past in your psyche. Verify this for yourself by observing those around you who have a strong tendency to hold on to the past. Die to the past every moment. You don’t need it. Only refer to it when it is absolutely relevant to the present. Feel the power of this moment and the fullness of Being. Feel your presence.
