TECHNOPRENEURSHIP 005:
PITCH OF DOOM!
Pitch Day Jitters and a Heartfelt Triumph!
Tumblr media
March 15, 2024. Hey everyone! Buckle up for a ride through the nerve-wracking world of pitching tech ideas! Today's story is about my experience presenting my techno idea – a concept that could potentially change lives for the better. Picture this: It's presentation day, and my heart is pounding like a drum solo. My classmates are going one by one, sharing their innovative ideas, and the pressure is definitely on! I know I need to deliver a clear, concise pitch that grabs everyone's attention. The wait seemed like an eternity, but finally, it was my turn to step into the spotlight. With a deep breath, I introduced myself and launched into my presentation. Here's the thing: heart disease is a major health concern worldwide. Unfortunately, during emergencies, people often don't receive help fast enough, which can have serious consequences. That's where my tech idea, HA (Heart Alert), comes in! This innovative wearable would be your heart's guardian angel, monitoring your heart health and taking action in case of emergencies. Imagine this scenario: You're enjoying a walk in the park when suddenly you experience a heart attack. HA detects the emergency and jumps into action, emitting a loud noise to alert people around you. Simultaneously, it sends an alert to emergency services with your exact location, ensuring swift assistance. But wait, there's more! HA can also display your medical information on the badge, allowing bystanders to provide appropriate first aid until help arrives. Plus, it can notify your loved ones about the emergency, giving them a chance to rush to your side. After my presentation, a wave of relief washed over me, but the real test was yet to come – the Q&A session. Questions flew from the audience, and one person wanted to know how the HA badge would be worn. I explained it would be a comfortable sticker worn on your chest, close to your heart. The questions kept coming, but I was prepared! All that practice paid off, and I answered each one with confidence. To my surprise, our professor did something unexpected. Instead of grilling me further, he seemed genuinely interested in the idea! He even explained that a lot of questions are a good sign – they show that people are engaged and have questions because they're interested. That was a huge boost of confidence! Finally, the moment of truth arrived. Would my idea get the green light? And guess what? Thumbs up! It was an incredible feeling to see my hard work and passion validated. This is just the first step on HA's journey. There's a lot of development ahead, but the potential impact this technology could have on people's lives is incredibly exciting. Stay tuned for future blog posts where I'll delve deeper into the details of HA! In the meantime, I'd love to hear from you! Have you ever had to pitch an idea in front of an audience? What was your experience like? Leave a comment below and let's chat! Pre-Pitch Jitters and a Lucky Charm (Maybe?) By the way, speaking of nerves, let me tell you about the minutes leading up to my presentation. Everyone was feeling the pressure, and while I was practicing my pitch over and over again, a classmate offered me a little advice. They suggested putting a one-peso coin in my shoe for good luck! Hey, I wasn't going to turn down any extra help, so I slipped it in there. Who knows, maybe it did bring me a little extra confidence! Want to see my HA presentation in more detail? TECHNOPRENEURSHIP 004:
The AVR Pressure Cooker
Tumblr media
Hey everyone, welcome back to the thrilling world of Technopreneurship! Today, we're back in the nerve-wracking AVR room, facing the challenge of pitching our tech ideas. Remember the elevator pitch concept – which super-short sales pitch should take as long as a quick elevator ride? Yeah, that was the test we were all sweating over right now. The tension in the AVR room was thick enough to cut with a butter knife. My classmate just finished presenting their idea – a concept focused on creating a community space, kind of like a modern-day "third space." It was interesting, but it went on for a while (like, 15 minutes!). Our professor, bless him, had to gently remind everyone that this was a quick-fire sales pitch, not a college lecture. My mind was already racing, trying to figure out how to condense my entire tech idea into a minute, make it crystal clear, and hopefully impress the audience. The pressure was definitely on! As each classmate stepped up, the feedback came rolling in. Some ideas were put on hold for further development, while others got the dreaded thumbs-down, meaning they had to go back to the drawing board and come up with something completely new. By this point, the room was buzzing with a mix of nervous energy and a healthy dose of fear. It seemed like our professor had very high standards – one student had to pitch their idea a whopping fifteen times before it got the green light! I remember our professor saying this, and a hush fell over the room. Fifteen times? The pressure to get my pitch perfect in just 60 seconds felt monumental. Speaking of ideas, my first attempt at a tech idea focused on a grocery store app. That one got shot down because another classmate had the same concept. So, back to the drawing board, I went! Being right there in the AVR room, watching the other presentations unfold was a valuable lesson. The key takeaways? Be specific, keep it short and sweet, and get straight to the point. Fueled by this newfound knowledge, I started brainstorming a new tech idea. Something more focused, something with the potential to make a real difference. Inspiration struck when I thought about my dad, a former smoker. Smoking has all sorts of nasty long-term effects, with heart disease being a major one. And that's when it hit me: a tech idea focused on heart health! Curious about what this potentially life-saving concept could be? Well, stay tuned for blog number 005, where I'll delve into the details and hopefully get your heart racing (in a good way) about this exciting new project! In the meantime, I'd love to hear from you! Have any of you had experiences with high-pressure pitching? What are some challenges you've faced in developing a tech idea? Leave a comment below and let's chat!

TECHNOPRENEURSHIP 003:
TECHNOPRENEURSHIP?
Tumblr media
Ever Thought of Turning Your Tech Idea into a Business?
Have you ever heard of someone who invented a life-saving medical device or a super cool app that changed the way we do things? That's the magic of technopreneurship! It's like being your own boss, but with a tech twist. Technopreneurs use all sorts of technology to solve problems, create awesome new products and services, and build businesses that make a real difference.
Thinking Different: Like a Puzzle Master!
Tumblr media
Our class started with a brain teaser – a logic puzzle with nine pins that you connect with only four lines. Tough, right? That's the point! It teaches us to think outside the box, just like those who come up with amazing business ideas. We gotta ditch the usual way of doing things and see problems from new angles.
From Worker Bee to Tech Boss: A Mindset Shift
Tumblr media
Next, we explored two different mindsets: the "worker mindset" and the "technopreneur mindset." Most of us grow up thinking about getting a good-paying job after school. That's the worker mindset. But the technopreneur mindset is all about being a leader and an innovator. Technopreneurs use technology to create businesses that make a positive impact. They're the bosses, building something cool and meaningful. Pretty inspiring, right?
Ideas Are Great, But They Need a Plan!
Tumblr media
We all get those flashes of inspiration, but true technopreneurship is about more than just a cool idea. Think about it – would people actually use your idea? Can you turn it into a real business that makes money? Don't jump in head first – having a solid plan is key!
Becoming a Technopreneur: The Recipe for Success
Tumblr media
Just like becoming a chef, building a successful tech business requires specific ingredients:
Tech Savvy: You gotta understand technology and how it can be used to solve problems.
Planning Pro: Don't wing it! Make a business plan that outlines your idea, who your customers are, how much money you need, and how you'll reach your target market.
The Right Tools: Depending on your idea, you might need special software, hardware, or even lab equipment to make it a reality.
Funding Power: Most businesses need some cash to get started. Look for investors, grants, or other ways to finance your dream.
HELF: Your Technopreneurial Toolkit
Tumblr media
Imagine a strong foundation for your business – that's what HELF stands for!
Human Resources: You'll need a team of talented people with different skills. Think idea generators (researchers), builders (developers), promoters (marketing), and money managers (financial experts).
Supportive Environment: Surround yourself with the right people and places! Look for incubators (business support centers), science parks, or universities that can provide resources and guidance.
Legal Stuff: Gotta play by the rules! Understand laws around intellectual property (protecting your ideas), technology licensing (making money from your creation), and business registration (making it official).
Financial Resources: Money makes the world go round! Explore options like venture capitalists (investors), government grants, or angel investors (wealthy individuals who support startups).
Collaboration is Key: We're All in This Together!
Tumblr media
Technopreneurship isn't a solo act. Universities, government agencies, funding bodies, and business incubators all work together to create a healthy environment for tech startups to thrive.
More Than Just Tech: Building a Great Business
Tumblr media
Technology is awesome, but it's not the only ingredient for a successful business. Here are some other things you need to consider:
Solving a Real Problem: Is there a genuine need for your idea in the market? Who are your customers, and will they actually pay for your product or service?
Planning Makes Perfect: Don't just jump in! Develop a comprehensive business plan that outlines your strategy for success.
Standing Out From the Crowd: What makes your idea unique? Don't just copy someone else – find a way to offer something different and valuable.
Ready to Be a Technopreneur?
Tumblr media
The journey of a technopreneur is exciting, challenging, and incredibly rewarding. If you're passionate about technology and have a great idea, this path could be for you. Just remember, it takes more than just a cool idea to succeed. Prepare yourself with the knowledge, resources, and a solid plan to turn your vision into reality. Stay tuned for more adventures in the exciting world of tech startups!

TECHNOPRENEURSHIP 002: First class in Technopreneurship course :>
Tumblr media
Hey everyone!
Welcome back to my blog! Second semester is here, and guess what's giving me some serious butterflies? Technopreneurship!
Now, for those of you who haven't been following along, technopreneurship is all about using technology to create awesome new businesses or level up existing ones. It's about taking your ideas and turning them into reality with the help of some tech magic.
Sure, it might sound cool on paper, but let's be honest – this course is making me sweat a little (a lot!). I wouldn't exactly call myself the most creative person, and the thought of public speaking, especially pitching ideas, makes me want to crawl under a rock.
But hey, guess what? It turns out a lot of us in the class feel the same way. Technopreneurship is a brand new experience for most of us, and that means a healthy dose of nerves is totally normal.
The good news? The first few weeks of this course have actually been pretty inspiring. Our professor has been sharing incredible stories and achievements from past students and the university. Seeing what others have accomplished is like a major pep talk. It's definitely motivating me to push past my fears and try things I never thought I could do.
One of those things? Yep, you guessed it – pitching! (Elevator pitch) Our professor mentioned we'd be presenting our ideas to the class (stay tuned for a future post on the return of the "Pitches of Doom"!). While the thought still gives me goosebumps, there's also a flicker of excitement. This course is pushing me to get creative and develop skills I never knew I had. Maybe, just maybe, I'll even discover a hidden talent for inventing the next big thing!
So, if you're feeling a little nervous about technopreneurship this semester, that's totally okay. We've all been there! But remember, this is your chance to challenge yourself and learn something incredible. Let's buckle up and embrace the ride together!

TECHNOPRENEURSHIP 001: FIRST IMPRESSION :3
Tumblr media
"My first impression of the Technopreneurship course.
Technopreneurship. Just the phrase itself brings thoughts of technological startups, innovation, and even the next excellent app. I wouldn't really describe myself as an extrovert, so I'm a little hesitant about the "entrepreneurship" part. I'm not exactly comfortable with public speaking, pitching, or the whole "selling yourself" thing – not exactly my comfort zone.
The class, though, seems split. That group is the enterprising set, full of ideas and perhaps already planning their next multimillion-dollar project. We're not against the idea, but the phrase "course" connected to "entrepreneurship" makes us question whether it's all forced presentations and high-pressure pitches. Then there are those of us who are approaching with a hesitant "maybe."
There seems to be room to learn about and explore the world of digital businesses without necessarily being thrust into the public investor the spotlight (yet). Thankfully, that first impression is more "chill" than "shark tank."
But rumors spreading among seniors paint a different picture. The "final boss" is our professor; he sets high standards and doesn't give out easy grades. The pressure is definitely on, but the task is good at the moment.
Thus, here I am, just starting out on this technopreneurship adventure. Maybe I won't become the next Elon Musk, but who knows? A combination of intrigue, nervousness, and a healthy dosage of "senior scare tactics." Perhaps this is the moment when my secret love for innovation and technology comes to light. It's going to be an exciting ride, that much is sure. Everyone, fasten your seatbelts!
