Sorry,” Lily shrugged, teasing him. “But you guys are cooler, I’ll give you that,” she nodded. “I guess being at the same level as the people you’re studying with is good and helpful or whatever,” she said, rolling her eyes lightheartedly. “Dude, the carnival’s been going on all day! What were you doing between the end of the game and the start of the party?”

“It’s true though, also because hes lived with you your whole life, so he’s got annoying you down to a fine art, I‘m still trying to learn.” Louis joked, “There was never any competition. Yeah, we’ll be doing similar assignments and stuff so we’ll be able to collaborate easily.” He pouted, “I was there but I had to eat and I barely had time for any rides, I never got to go on the bumper cars or the roller coaster, or the giant swinging boat one. So many missed opportunities.”

“I think first priority should be both of us learning about each other,” she replied, biting the corner of her lip. “A view of Hogsmeade certainly doesn’t compare to that. Do you visit France often?”

“Good plan, important question then, what’s your favourite colour?” He nodded, “We go a fair bit because we’ve got family over there. But I think Hogsmeades view will be just as nice, it’s just a different kind of beautiful, more like a safe, homely beautiful.”

“Uh-uh,” Albus replied much like a young child would when arguing with a sibling. “Ask anyone, they tell you she is.” He raised one eyebrow at the boy, looking at him in disbelief. “Quit lyin’, you… liar. You weren’t slurrin’ to make me feel better - you’re slurrin’ ‘cause you’re a lightweight. An’ the only reason that word is weird not is ‘cause you keep sayin’ it. If you stop sayin’ it then it won’t be weird.” He glared at him, “Did not.” Al insisted, although he was pretty sure he had woken up still slightly buzzed. “It has nothin’ to do with her bein’ insecure, you twit, why you say that? I just don’t lie to her or hide anythin’ from her, is that really so bad?” He scowled at his cousin, sinking into his chair with a huff. “Yeah, well, then be ready for a lame party. ‘Cause that’s what you’ll get with them, y’know.”

“Well, I don’t need to ask anyone, because I already prove that wrong, I don’t think your girlfriends the hottest in the school.” Louis glared at his cousin, resisting the urge to once again pull a face. “M’not a liar. And I’ll say it as much as I like, lightweight, lightweight, lightweight.” He repeated just to be contrary. “But what if Lils asked you to keep something a secret, something important to her, and you told Cassie, she’d be upset right, because even if it wasn’t a big deal, it’d be about broken trust, plus it means no one will ever tell you anything because we all know you wont keep it a secret.” Lou crossed his arms, “Doesn’t matter, I’ll still be happy because my favorite cousins threw it. If you’re not careful I‘ll uninvite you altogether.”

“I don’t think I’d want to, but I’m not gonna disagree with the madness. You definitely would,” Lily chuckled. “Oh yeah? Well if i get sick of James I just might ditch him for you guys anyway,” she joked. “If you’re getting Dom’s notes, then you can definitely count me in.” She made a face and shoved his arm lightly. “You mean you’re not having fun now? I’m offended.”

“Although I maintain, he’d be more annoying than I would.” Louis laughed, “Look I’m just saying, me and Rox are cooler, and the same age as you, so will be doing the same study. And did I mention we’re cooler?” He grinned, “I mean as much as I love spending time with you, there is currently also a carnival happening, with rides, stalls and food.”

“We could just ask someone around town? I’m sure someone has to know. But trust me, I wouldn’t. I know my limits, you just need to learn them, coach.” When their turn came up, she carefully loaded her tank in the corner of the bench, tucked away behind her. “I bet it looks amazing up there,” Ana commented, glancing up towards the top of the ride.

“Vic might know since she works near there, I’ll ask her when I see her next. Okay, good. Don’t worry, my first priority will be learning all about you.” He sat next to her and nodded, “Especially since the weather’s actually clear today.” The ride began moving slowly, “Ferris wheels always remind me of France, one of my favourite memories is on a Ferris wheel there.”

“You’re like an excited puppy you know that right? I’ve seen all of these things before yes. Have you just been running around here looking at everything on your own?”

“I’ve seen them before too, but they’re so fun! Yeah mostly, I dragged a few people on rides but I stopped to eat, but then I didn’t eat because I got too excited. I had to make up for lost time after the engagement party.”

“I have the hottest girlfriend in the history of datin’. I’m pretty sure someone is a little jealous of that,” he said defensively. “Okay, whatever, nothin’ then. I don’t wanna hear your soppy story anyway. Oi, m’not a lightweight, lightweight! You’re a lightweight. You started slurrin’ way before I did, so don’t go sayin’ that I’m a lightweight.” Albus paused, staring at his fingers as he attempted to count off, “We’ve said lightweight entirely too many times,” he observed, losing track at two. “Please, like I’m gon’ have one? I haven’t had a hangover since I was 14,” Lie. He had one over New Years, but he was drinking with Dylan - they tended to go overboard. “M’not - okay, well yeah. I guess that’s kinda true. But m’not jealous of you, you prat. It’s more just jealous in general. I don’ wanna be talked about all the time, you know. It’s annoyin’. No shit I’d tell Cass, I tell her everything. She’s my girlfriend, that’s what you do in a mature relationship. Tell each other everythin’. You wouldn’ understand that because-” he hiccupped again, “You’re a kid.” He glared at Louis. “You take that back right now no they are not.”

“You only think she’s the hottest because she’s your girlfriend. You’re a biased source and so your information in unreliable.” He was quoting a textbook but Albus didn’t need to know that. “Good because there isn’t a story anyway.” Louis shook his head, “No, you are, I’m great at drinking, I only slurred first because, because I was faking so you wouldn’t feel bad. I’m just a really nice person.” Louis frowned, trying to remember how many times it had been said. “Now it sounds weird, lightweight, lightweight.” He snorted, “Yeah right. You’re an alcoholic, you probably had a hangover this morning.” Louis nodded, “Yeah people talk about dumb shit, it’s really stupid, who even cares, not like most of the gossip is true anyway. People only talk about you if they have nothing better to do. I’m not a kid! I just understand the value of your family being able to trust you with something. I’m not going to sacrifice other people confidence in me just because my girlfriend is too insecure to understand that you can’t tell each other everything sometimes.” He was mostly talking out of his ass, but it sounded about right so he went with it. “They are, they’re going to be in charge of my bachelor party when I get married too.”

“It’s a date… I mean, Tuesday, yeah,” Ana’s brow knitted together slightly, a little confused by the pause. “Other than the walk down the main road?” Her eyes followed his gesture, she shrugged a shoulder. “Oh, that. Don’t even worry about it. I’ve been dealing with it for years. I’ll figure something out.”

“Yeah, its like a side path, I’ve never done it but I’ve heard about it.” Louis said, trying to remember where he’d heard it. “I’ll just have to remember where the entrance is...” Louis nodded, “Okay, just don’t let me get too excited and push you into doing something you can’t.” He glanced forward when he heard someone else talk. “Oh, it’s our turn!”

Lily laughed. “I’m supposed to have some study time with James and keep him on task. I’d say you could join us, but then we really wouldn’t get any work done.” She nodded, “I hope you’re right, only because this has been more exhausting than I thought it would be.”

Louis grinned, “I think you’d want to kill us both by the end of it, we’d drive you mad. Me and Rox are doing a study group thing anyway, you should drop in when you’re not with James. We’re planning to steal notes from Luc, Dom, maybe Fred.” He nodded, “I didn’t know engagement parties were so long. Plus we’re not even allowed to do anything fun.”

“Do not.” Albus insisted, furrowing his brow as he pouted. “You’re just jealous because you can’t even admit to your little situation. It’s okay to be jealous. I mean, I am me.”  He threw his hands in the air, exasperated with his cousin’s childishness. “At least I’ll be able to remember mine in the morning you lightweight,” he taunted. “Mostly me? Mostly you! I don’t even like gossip! You’re an idiot.” Al raised his eyebrows at the buttface comment, shrugging his shoulders as Louis finished speaking. “I dunno…. you did just call me a buttface. That might have just cost you the favorite spot.”

“Please, literally no one is jealous of you Al. And I don’t have a little situation. It’s just - nothing. It’s nothing.” Louis frowned, shaking his head, “No, I’m not going to not remember, I’m not that drunk, you’re just as much of a lightweight. I’m not even going to have a hangover.” He was undoubtedly wrong but he ignored that reality, as long as Albus didn’t see him in the morning it would be fine. “I’m not an idiot! You’re just jealous because I’m not in the gossip and you are. Plus I bet anything I tell you you’d tell Cassie, and who knows who she’d tell, that’s called gossip Al.” He pouted, giving his cousin a hurt look. “Whatever, Roxy and Lily are my new favourites then, they’re way cooler than you.”

“Pfft, twenty?” she echoed with a soft smirk,“I give him fifteen. The ride spins one way and swings the other – it’ll be a miracle if he won’t spill his guts the second it starts,” Molly reasoned, nodding as Louis said they should make sure to be on the other end. “Yeah, there’s no way in hell I’m sitting anywhere near that guy, or anywhere near his splash zone.”

“Yeah, I don’t think he’s going to have much fun. I, however, am going to have a lot of fun. This looks epic!” Louis said, bouncing on his heels in excitement. “We’re up soon, sure you don’t want to back out? Those people on it now look pretty terrified. I’ll bet you scream before I do.” He challenged with a grin.

“Perfect. Tuesday’s are my class free afternoons, funny enough.” Ana replied, biting her lip as she tried to come up with a list. “Strenuous activities, mostly. Things like hiking, swimming even. You know, I’ve never been more than ankle deep in the lake? I’m telling you, my father was a little over protective.”

“Awesome, meet me by the Quidditch pitch, we can start there.” Louis nodded, “Well, I’m an expert at strenuous activities.” He paused, “Uh- hiking! I meant like hik- uh - nevermind. But there’s a nice hike on the other side of Hogsmeade we could do, and swimming is an easy fix. We just have to be a little careful right? Like with the tank.” He gestured to her oxygen tank.

Albus frowned at the blond, sticking out his own tongue in his drunken maturity. “Oh, shut up. You’re a twit. And it’s not gross. You’re gross.” He didn’t even care that his argument didn’t make sense and was no better than something you’d hear from a toddler. He just couldn’t let Lou have the last word on anything. Wouldn’t let him. He could barely contain a chuckle at his cousin’s defense, nodding his head slowly. “Mmmhmm,” he hummed, raising an eyebrow. “Oh, no. I’m so scared of your drunken threats. You can’t even come up with something. Funny, you’re calling me a loudmouth after saying you’d go gossiping about me.” Albus rolled his eyes. “Just saying, it’s your funeral. If anyone could kill with just a look, it’s her.”

“You’re grosser. Mr Cassie Malfoy, I bet you guys sit around saying lame stuff like ‘when we’re married’ and its practically vomit inducing.” Louis retorted, ignoring how immature he sounded, he frowned at his cousins response Al didn’t seem to believe him but he thought he’d been very convincing. “It’s true.” He insisted. “My drunken threats are still better than yours.” He challenged, not noticing that he turned literally everything into a competition. “And I never said I wasn’t a loudmouth, I am, and so are you, so is our entire family. But mostly you, and Vic. I only gossip about you because you’re a buttface.” Lou shook his head, “Nah, you wouldn’t let her murder your favourite cousin, I have faith in you.”

“I’m in sixth year, I’ve got a lot more free time than you fifth and seventh years. Are you sure you’re up to it, coach? There’s a lot I wasn’t allowed to do as a kid.”

“Okay, how about after class, before dinner, on Tuesday?” Lou suggested. “Like? Give me a list so I can brainstorm, everything big or small. We’re going to do it all!”

“Thank Merlin these rides aren’t shady and old like some of the ones you’ve seen,” Ali commented. “Otherwise I do not think I’d go on a single ride,” she admitted, laughing at his Weasley comment. “Well there’s no arguing with that.”

“Yeah, although they could probably make them safe with magic anyway if they were, with like levitation spells and stuff.” He grinned, “Man I can’t even imagine a normal Christmas, like with less people, it must be so quiet, so dull.”

“You truly are the most qualified family member to match my level of diabolical,” she chuckled, her eyes going to the green-in-the-face man not too far from there. “Bloody hell, he looks like a wax figure at this point,” Molly remarked. “Why the hell is he going on the ride when he obviously can barely stand on his own two feet at the moment?”

“I learned it all from the master.” Louis kept his eyes on the man for a few more seconds before turning back to his cousin. “I wonder if we ought to remind him how to breathe? What’s your bet on how long he lasts before he erupts? I think he’ll last about twenty seconds. Lets make sure we’re at the other end.”
