Thinking about... Young Josuke BEGGING his mom to do his hair the way the mysterious man That Night had his done.

Imagining Tomoko struggling to read through style magazines to find SOMETHING to help her mimic the pompadour style on her son.

Imagining Tomoko arguing with her tiny son about him needing to get his hair cut, and Josuke arguing that having longer hair would make styling it easier (he wins this round).

Imagining Tomoko mastering the pompadour style, able to do it in record time so that she won't have to wake up an hour early every morning just to style her son's hair.

Imagining Tomoko realizing she'd styled Josuke's hair for the last time, seeing him do it himself without trouble. Relief mixed with a pang of longing because her little boy is growing up and doesn't need her to do his hair anymore.

not “oh my god it’s just a tv show” as in you are not allowed to find genuine joy and form a true connection to fiction, but “oh my god it’s just a tv show” as in, if it legitimately stresses you out and impacts your mood when things don’t happen exactly the way you want them to, and it causes you to lash out at other - real - people, maybe you need to take a massive step back.

I had a new "oh, my family were the weird ones" moment recently: it seems no one else's family celebrated Frog Night (the first warm rainy night of spring) by going down to the local vernal pool after dark to help the amphibians safely across the road and listening to the spring peepers. (We'd then go back in daytime later on to observe the egg masses, of course.)

Apparently "Frog Night" as a holiday is a thing my mother invented and not a widely-accepted idea, which is a shame because I've been referring to it as if it was for the past 30 years.
