Led Zeppelin - “Pat’s Delight”
From the bootleg Smokestack Lightning
(Recorded April 26, 1969)
Last song scrobbled from iTunes at Last.fm
Live at Winterland, San Francisco.
Very good audience taping. Zeppelin’s second night at Winterland, and third both in San Francisco, and in America, on their second US tour. They’d played their first date at the Fillmore West, did two at Winterland, then did another at the Fillmore West, before splitting for points south. Boots of all four San Fran shows exist.
“Pat’s Delight” occupied that space in the Zeppelin pantheon that “Moby Dick” would later hold, before “Moby Dick” existed.
"Led Zeppelin was the air between us all" - interview to JPJ
"The direction was us. The band was made up of four totally different individuals with different musical tastes. [...] Led Zeppelin was the air between us all. It was the forum in the middle, really. There couldn't possibly be a direction that one person didn't want to go in, because the band didn't have any energy without all four members."
