On Nudes
The other day I was talking with someone who was feeling terrible because she didn’t want to send someone nudes, and that made her feel like a disappointment. Some asshole berated her for saying “no��� and it really upset her. She thinks that everyone sends them, so she should too, even if she doesn’t want to. Please help me show her that no one needs to do anything they don’t want to do.
Let’s get one thing out of the way to start. Nudes are amazing. It is an unbelievably fun thing to have someone trust you, want you, and want to turn you on enough to send you a picture of themselves in such a vulnerable and exposed state.
Now that we got that out of the way. No one is owed nudes from anyone. Anyone who tries to pressure, guilt, extort, blackmail, bully or otherwise force someone to send them pictures is a piece of shit.
If someone is trying to make you send pictures you don’t want to send. That person is a piece of shit. There is just no other explanation. If someone treats you poorly or insults you for saying you don’t feel comfortable, that person is a piece of shit. Not only are these people pieces of shit, but they have also immediately identified themselves as someone who should not be trusted with nudes.
Because the next part is that if someone decides to share something intimate and personal with you, then that picture is only for you and you only get to keep it as long as they want you to. Sharing those pictures with anyone else or posting them anywhere without specific permission makes you a piece of shit.
So, share as much or as little of yourself as you feel comfortable sharing, and don’t let any piece of shit try and convince you to do anything you don’t want to do.
