Ed Regis's first week on the job... at Jurassic Park

In an excerpt from Episode 21 - The Tour Pt. 1, just a few thoughts on Ed Regis that might be easy to overlook, including the strong possibility that he was in his first week on the job when he had to take the "sick worker" from "construction accident" to the clinic in Bahia Anasco! Imagine that - you're hired to do PR, but your whole job is just cover-ups... plus, I always pictured Ed Regis as something of a "Ron Howard"-type.

Jurassic Park daily: in which Arnold is a pretty alright guy actually

I actually think I like book Arnold better than movie Arnold. Movie Arnold was Samuel L Jackson's first really major role, so I don't know where he's drawing from his endlessly deep well of Motherfucking Over It. It works in the movie, but book Arnold is a lot more active, and a lot more invested. And a lot more tolerant of the people around him who don't understand tech as well as he does, because why would they? Let's not forget that in 1993 there were huge swaths of the English-speaking world that needed to be explicitly taught how to use a mouse. (Like the kind with a cord that plugs into the back of the computer with a weird funky color-coded plug.) Arnold has probably spent his entire professional life explaining things in layman's terms. Bravo sir! You're wrong, but bravo!

Jurassic Park Daily: the Road, summarized

Okay this time I'm on top of it, here's a summary of this chapter if you want to avoid triggers like gore and death.

Spoilers under the cut:

Muldoon and Gennaro, who are shaping up to be the real heroes of this story, beat feet to where the cars had stopped. They find the remains of Regis. At first they think there are no survivors of the attack, but Muldoon uses his super sleuthing tracking skills to determine that both kids and at least one adult has survived, but there's no finding them without going back first. On their way back they find Ian Malcolm, who is badly injured. As they take him back to headquarters, they bicker over who gets to tell Hammond about this.
