As I gaze at the structural column in Copley Station, cracked nearly in two and held together with zip ties that have been carefully painted over to match the column underneath, I feel my soul intertwined with that of a small Italian boy of days gone by, who also stopped to look up at a large, groaning, newly painted tank full of molasses
Kabru dungeon meshi is so interesting. He鈥檚 very thoughtful and perceptive about politics and people. He has extremely good social skills and gets along with almost everyone. But there鈥檚 also a layer of, not necessarily anxiety, but definitely an acute awareness of how people think of him and a need to get details right and understand things correctly and know that he's properly grasping what's going on. When his suspicions about laios's party are proven right, he gets excited, and looks pretty intense about it on the surface, but rather than acting on it he stays friendly with laios. The way it reads to me is that he's deeply self-conscious about and invested in understanding social cues. It makes him a perfect foil to laios's particular brand of autism. While laios can't make himself fit in even at the cost of looking bad or accidentally making people uncomfortable (like what happened with shuro), kabru meticulously analyzes every behavior and social cue to the point of fixating and becoming cautious and suspicious of other people
