oof yeah im a bit late on this ngl. 2 weeks is a lot. i swear im not dead!

so for the last week and a bit, i was just settling back in from canada in all honesty, as i live in ireland and was away on a transfer trip for a semester. but im now back home and just been hanging with old friends, sorted out my living situation (IM GONNA MOVE OUT YALL ITS EXCITING!!) and had to get everything sorted for my next sem schedulement early since i dont want to rush it in august.

ON TOP OF THAT, i just got a new computer and i have NO idea how the screenshotting works bc its a macbook and people told me not to get a macbook but i needed it for uni so i just have to deal with it lol. but i now instantly regret it, i should have listened. its a nice piece but its lacking some fucking shit. either way my other computer kinda died off since it was a shitty chromebook so what was i gonna do huh

anyways, apparently macbooks dont ALLOW YOU TO SCREENSHOT THINGS FROM NETFLIX BC OF COPYRIGHT ISSUES SO IDK WHAT TO DO LADS, DO I JUST WATCH THEM ON MY PHONE? ID HATE THAT TBFH.

so im gonna try and find out how to get those images in the meantime and probably work things out for my pc before i get to liveblogging :/

anyways, ill get back to yall as soon as i can. lifes a bit hectic and i have no idea what to do about this computer so any tips n tricks work if you guys could help me. only if you know how to deal with the shitty macbooks.

The Moment Of Truth

oh god, im never going to live this episode down

and this note is going to be a long one because i have A LOT to say on the matter

i think this is by far my favourite episode of season one. sure everything else was great, and there’s always some great scenes in every episode but this one actually made me cry and the character interaction was just perfect.

the thing that got to me the most i think was will. obviously. but not just his death, his whole character. will was going through some issues, thinking merlin left him and he was not wanted, only to be replaced by royalty. and merlin explained how he felt about royalty, after his father died. so i didnt hate will for being grumpy as im guessing we were supposed to do. but in the end, he finally resolved those issues, he was happy for maybe a second and thats what counted. he finally died in the arms of his best friend which im guessing was what he needed. and do you know how much that made me cry? i hardly cry during films/tv shows bc i dont get attached to characters as much as other people do. but will got to me. i hate that bc it means i wont see him anymore. ik his death was something inevitable in a world of war, but bbc really didn’t have to hit us like that. im DISTRAUGHT.

apart from that, the whole merlin-arthur dialogue in the episode was amazing. they didn’t banter like they normally did, they were serious and the way the actors portrayed it, showed care through faces alone. from the scene where arthur was telling merlin he was a terrible servant as merlin told him he was leaving, to when merlin found out arthur actually followed them along the journey. he asked arthur why he came and arthur dismissed him. then again when they were putting armour on for the final battle, that arthur felt the need to be calm with merlin rather than tell him he was not putting on his armor right. hell! he even fucking helped merlin put it on! there were so many parallels in this episode. i didn’t write it down but do you remember when merlin said “it was an honour to serve you” at the beginning of the episode, in jokes of never seeing arthur again? arthur then said that before they were going to fight, not knowing if theyd both come out alive. he said the same thing, going back to that one sentence merlin told him before they left. props to the writers man.

then we got some women power with gwen, and her finally standing up to arthur. i just really liked that scene, idk? it was cute. gwen was adorable and did what she did best, which was dismissing what she said only to stand by it while saying shes sorry for speaking up. but arthur told her she was right and i feel like that was what arthur needed. someone to be honest with him. and who better to support you than gwen.

also the lack of uther was a big bonus.

so yeah, this episode was super great even tho theres now a massive pile of tears on my bed. so thanks bbc but i fucking hate you.

i doubt arthur would have killed anybody for being a sorcerer

hes not his father. he may be influenced by him and grew up with the concept of what his father tells the world, but i think he has a better mentality than uther when considering the lives of others. so knowing will was a “sorcerer”, he would have never killed him
