The Farewell

It follows about a family who discovers that her grandmother had only short to live after she diagnosed with cancer, to keep her in a while, they must decide not to tell her and schedule for a wedding before she dies.

When I saw this film, I was very interesting because it looks emotional and it is gonna be a tearjerker because the concept of the movie plus Awkwafina was the lead in this role so that makes very exciting, so I just finished the movie yesterday, and my reaction was speechless because it was very unique and it simple also I was surprised that a lot of critics were very positive because of the style and the tone but this movie is absolutely breathtaking and speechless.

PROS:

Awkwafina gave an excellent performance which is one of the best films in her career she was transition from Comedy into a Drama that has very challenging as an actress, plus her acting was amazing including her emotions and her character development was heartwarming and love and It is truly deserve the Oscar nomination for Best Actress because she was amazing in this movie.

Also, Shuzhen Zao’s performance was great in this movie, I really like her character as Nai Nai because she was adorable and loyal to her grandchild Billi was a heartwarming moment and I really love the chemistry between Awkwafina and Shuzhen Zhao because they were love and caring each other was respect and great moments at the time.

The story was simple it looks beautiful and incredibly that it talks about we not to tell that our family member who has cancer so it is gonna be a rough day, and it manages to laugh and cry despite heartbroken moments and it comes to your heart.

Aspects of the film:

The film has a cultural references, including China is one of the most popular countries in the world that includes the foods, places and environmental stuff that included in this film, also the message of this movie was talking about having to spend time with your loved ones, make people happy because the theme is about love, family and kindness that can be included in this film.

Lulu Wang who is direct and screenplay in this film was really a great job, Her idea was amazing because of the Western and Cultural aspects that can change into our society, and Her dialogue was funny and good humor including when they speak into Chinese I was no understanding of what they saying but the good thing was they had a subtitle so that I understand of what it is all about.

There were some moments were emotional and heartbroken but sometimes are funny and great because To be Honest When I watch this movie, I was kind of expected that this is gonna be a tearjerker because I didn’t cry by every movie when there is an emotional scene , but I finished it was amazing and glad I enjoyed because of the moral values and lesson that can teach how to love and support each other to their Chinese Families was absolutely sweet and heartwarming.

Overall:

My Thoughts about this movie was really beautiful, it is truly one of the best films in 2019 it was a bittersweet and feel-good film that I would recommend for the viewers because this message is about spent time with your loved ones and it truly deserves an Oscar Contender because this film was incredibly masterpiece and excellent.

This is based on a sequel in 2014 film, I was really excited because after 5 years of the events on the first film, so I had to chance to watch at Ayala Malls South Park which we were always watching at the cinema it depends on the film on Weekends and it was so good, I know lots of critics were mixed because of some reason but to me it was mind-blowing and there were some moments were I really enjoyed because on some other terms.

Also, I will tell what I most liked about this film so I can tell with my personal opinions:

Angelina Jolie who is returning as the iconic role was Maleficent was stunning in this film, she was absolutely breathtaking even her character development was getting stronger than ever, and her acting was amazing, we all known that she is a great actress, she can direct and produce and she did an amazing job in this movie.

Also, Elle Fanning plays as Aurora was really good as well, Her character development was improving even her first film was kind of a strong character but in this sequel she is getting stronger than ever, and I like the chemistry between Maleficent and Aurora were they having a very good relationship between a mother and daughter was really sweet, and she is a good actress and I hadn’t seen in other films but she looks familiar in Hollywood industry and I can’t wait to see her in the future, Michelle Pfeiffer’s performance was amazing in this film, she plays a new character who is Prince Philip son was mesmerizing, and she looks beautiful with her age and she can whether plays a Marvel or a Disney character she is very talented as well.

And Harris Dickinson plays a New Prince Philip after who has to be replaced by a 2014 actor Brenton Thwaites which is surprising, but in his character was doing fine even his role was not just as big, he looks very sweet and charm, and I didn’t know about his film, but he did a good job in this movie.

The CGI was amazing, I like when the effects were they look like this image it looks beautiful, the production design was great, were it looks very creative and beautiful well done, and the action sequences were stunning including the 3rd act of the film was really intense and I was having a goosebumps when I watch this film because it was breathtaking and brilliant.

When you compare to 2 films, I think the sequel looks better than the first because the first one was very simple it was having a conversation and there were some moments, but in the 2nd film was absolutely breathtaking it is getting more intense, darker and more exciting than I really appreciate that.

Disney had so many releasing films this year, and when I walked out of the cinema I was happy and enjoyed it because it was heartwarming and I loved by every scene were they having great moments and intense moments was amazing as well.

I had to say this movie was good, it wasn’t that bad, it just an enjoyed sequel and this is not the best Disney remakes but it looks better than the first because of the characters, storyline and the performances by Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, and Michelle Pfeiffer, and I would also highly recommend for kids and families to those who loved by Disney films throughout all the years so go see it at the cinema.

Yesterday

It follows about a singer named Jack Malik (played by Himesh Patel) who is struggling after the accident then he finds himself as a person who remembers The Beatles and he became famous with his popular songs after they took a timeline.

The movie was interesting because a lot of critics and audiences are really positive and even in social media were like the film because of the content so I just over-hyped then when I watch this film yesterday and it was surprisingly good, it looks simple but in the good heart where it reminds me of some musical films including Sing Street which the movie was good, but this one it looks kind of similar because of the tone and the style that makes more interesting and I know The Beatles which they were very popular in the industry even the generation were like because of the music and lyrics as well.

Himesh Patel’s performance was great in this movie , His acting was really good even his character was interesting because of the idea and knowledge of his song, and his voice was amazing, he looks very charm and sweet , and this is his first acting in a motion picture and I can’t wait to see his other projects in the future.

Lily James was also good as well, I like also her character because she was lovely and elegant I knew her as Cinderella and Baby Driver which i recent known her other plus she is a great actress and she did an amazing job in this film, Ed Sheeran was kind of surprising in this film even his character was the same name as by himself was really good and his role was simple and he was entertaining as well.

Also, the musical numbers were amazing it looks very popular such as The Beatles as we knew the song that includes into the next generation, the soundtrack was beautiful it looks romantic and charming, and the musical sequences were really good when there is some other scenes were heartwarming because of the love and the support and it deals from the heart which I most like about this film.

Danny Boyle did a great job in this movie, His idea was very creative even I didn’t see his other films because I wasn’t familiar back then, but in this latest one was I really enjoyed it.

This film is to described as popular and familiar were you compare to other works and this latest film was kind of similar but it has a different tone and The Beatles was an iconic and popular band even I know the name but I didn’t know the other song because I wasn’t familiar then but when it covers it looks very heartwarming and my favorites is “Here Comes The Sun” because it was very catchy and heart touching as well.

Yesterday was a good movie, it was fun, entertaining and heartwarming that I would definitely recommend for the viewers because it was great.
