The Mirror World ( also known as: Mirror Realm, Reflection World ) has been described as “the world on its head.” It is a world in which the Shadow World is known by all, including mundanes. Shadowhunters in this world appear to do little to stop this knowledge from remaining in the open. In fact, many speculate the Shadowhunters welcome the idea of mundanes knowing about Downworlders and Shadowhunters alike, despite the evident panic and fear this knowledge brings. It is unknown whether all mundanes possess the Sight in this realm.
There are little physical differences if you were to compare the two. However, many who have gone and returned to speak about it have reported that it seems duller and grayer, and the weather is almost always cloudy and dark. Little is known about how this Mirror World has come into fruition. It is speculated this is simply an alternate universe that utilizes mirrors as a way of linking their universe to ours.
Personalities appear to be different depending on the alternate person or persons in question. Many describe them as being the polar opposites of each other, however some alternate persons have similar personalities to the persons in question in the Stationary World. Relationships can also vary as well. It is reported that, while two persons can be parabatai in the Stationary World, they could despise each other in the Mirror World. It is unknown why these differences exist.
