just saw some of your older asks where you say you don't think of Zoro as the first mate because the strawhats don't follow conventional structures for crews and I def agree with that! Though I do still think of him as the first mate if only because everyone else on the ship has a job right? Except Zoro, whose only task on the ship seems to be napping and working on his big strong boobs muscles. So the first mate seems to be a good place for him. Though in my mind it's just like nami being the navigator or sanji being the cook, it doesn't mean he's above the others in the crew or that he's more loyal than them or anything like some dudebros might think.

dghjkd anon it's not that I DON'T think of him as the first mate, it's that he canonically is NOT the first mate. Oda even debunked it in an SBS semi-recently, and obviously Oda has purposefully not made a first mate for a reason. I'm not opposed to Zoro becoming the first mate in the future or something, it's just Zoro is literally not the first mate in the actual story FGHJKD

I also find it really funny Zoro has no 'job' like yeah let him be the boobalicious trophy husband of the crew why not
