Parrots and the Wildlife Trade
These images were created as a visual response to research I’ve been conducting on the trade of parrots and the experiences of parrots in captivity. This work will be part of a show on the wildlife trade hosted by a partnership between IFAW and Creature Conserve. The show will run from July 17 to August 7 in Gallery 55 in Providence, Rhode Island.
These images address three themes:
The treatment of parrots as material resources rather than sentient beings.
How a parrot’s social and environmental needs are met in the wild vs captivity.
The changing and expanding identity of a parrot as it is passed through multiple homes.
You can view high quality versions of these images on my website.
