Yuugi gave it some thought, increasingly aware of the thoughtful gaze he was under. If the Pharaoh was indeed the same type of person as his Other Self, they were not casual questions.

"Right, I know I may be speaking out of place, and there are advisors that have more experience, but I will tell you my honest answer. "

Luckily, thanks to both the necklace granted by the Pharaoh giving him free range of the palace and his frequent refusal to dismiss Yuugi from the room while receiving counsel, Yuugi had been growing more familiar with the politics of the kingdom.

"Neo-Assyria is upset because their caravans are being raided, just as yours are. They are holding you responsible as ruler, because it is on the trade route to your kingdom...I would figure out the reason the Bandit King is raiding the merchants. It's not enough to try to fight them with soldiers, they will just change their pattern. If there is something else that can be done to stop the raids, then that is what I would do."

Of course, what reason could any rag tag group of thieves want with goods? To sell them. Probably because they lack resources, judging on where they would most likely be hiding out.

He sat up straighter at the direct question, thinking quickly over how he could answer that question in a way that would make sense. Had he meant architect? Well...he did like constructing challenges for himself.

"With games, mostly. Strategy is important and managing your resources is part of that. It could be your tools, game pieces, even your stamina. There are some people who rush in head first and use everything up and then if they have any setbacks, they could be out of options at a crucial moment."

Yuugi pauses in thought.

"The most important thing is figure out what kind of challenge you're facing as early as possible. Then, you can plan."

The wink made him chuckle, "That is part of my job too, I can't help but worry. I may just be your game master, but I know about resource management."

What's Domaswap AU?

//Ah yes! I should definitely explain. The DomaSwap AU refers to a change in the timeline that @nevertem and I have been working within. We are actually in the process of getting it all organized to write out in detail but once in a while it pops up in RP here.

It started with an old thread where we were exploring what would have happened in the Doma arc (season 4 of the anime) if it was Yuugi that played the Seal of Orichalcos and lost Atem instead of the other way around. It actually ended up having a domino effect (heh!) on the entire story line afterwards, so if we tag a thread or post 'Domaswap' it's adhering to the events within that timeline, if that makes sense.

For the sake of clarifying the conversation he has been having with this Dartz anon, it is referencing how the influence of the Orichalcos and the raw dark magic of the Puzzle without the spirit to keep it contained nearly drove Yuugi mad and turned him to endless rage and violence. To the point he was starting to even turn on people he loves and who love him. It was an exploration of all of the bottled up rage he carries with him, because he was not allowed (or didn't feel like he was allowed) to express his true feelings. It's not that he resents any of them, and most of his anger was actually directed at himself. He was frustrated at not being understood even when they were trying to help him.

His dragon is one that literally self destructs, so we wanted to explore what that means for Yuugi as a character. He needed an arc to himself to really grow and deal with some character development, and as much as I do enjoy the canon Doma angst, they had Atem relearning lessons he already had learned at the end of Duelist Kingdom and Battle City, so Doma feels like the good spot to insert this kind of character arc rather than create a new one.

Ah, of course. That statement was probably bold of him…the Pharaoh is a demigod to his people. To remind him he is human could be taken as an insult. Yuugi bowed his head. "Of course, and as such they are higher than most people could imagine. Your body is still mortal."

Oh, but he didn't like the bow given to him. It felt wrong, in a way. He set the cup down, and gestured for the other to sit next to him, to join him, with a small pat on the linen cushion.

"And that is why I have servants." He gave a little wink, almost playful. To lighten the other's worry, of course. "What has you so worried, then, Yuugi?"

Yuugi's expression darkens, and he looks away. It's not something he would share with a stranger. It is even rarely discussed with his friends..if every. His family doesn't even know.
