She internally groaned at the mention of organizing, since that too was on the to do list that she had yet to go through and actually do. "Oh God you just reminded me.." she began, shaking her head before looking across the field of grass, "I still haven't gotten anything really unpacked besides a comforter and clothes. Been so.. busy, I guess." Looking back down to him, she wondered about asking what had gotten him so tired, but she also wondered if that bordered prying. "You.. play a sport here or have a noisy dorm mate..?"

He returned her smile with a warm one of his own sitting up properly though resting some of his weight on his hands behind him. “Not usually, only when extremely tired… Which in this case I am considering I was up for most of the night. Couldn’t sleep so I was organising my room.”

Nadine quickly turned her eyes in the direction of the voice, placing her pen slowly down between the two page before shaking her head and looking down at the page full of words. "Uh just this--thing, I guess," she smiled shyly before looking away, beginning to close the folder. "Nothing for school or anything.. just a thing."
I’m sorry if I’m interrupting some great thought process but I’m intrigued. What are you writing that has you so..focused?

Advertising elective? That's an elective? Nope, definitely not taking that.
Tumblr media
Okay, not cool.
..I doubt you have classes with me. I’m an arts major- dancing to be exact. Unless you’re in the Advertising elective my parents suggested I take?

It was there, slamming into the center of her chest. That feeling you feel when you're dreaming and falling all at once, and seconds before you hit the ground there's that jolt of shock. Second glances make you feel that way sometimes--your eyes see what they see the first glance, but something inside you rattles for a millisecond and awakens all the other senses until you come to your senses, and realize you missed something during that first glance. It beckons you to take a second look, and if you're smart you take it.
Nadine had apologized and looked away rather quickly, but that jolt that rattled through her chest even just for that second was enough to make her look back towards the now not so unfamiliar stranger, especially when he called her by name as if he knew her better than anyone else here. In some ways, he did.
The book in her hand was now easily forgettable, Nadine slipping it between two other books just on the shelf beneath the one they were now speaking through, every bit of her forcing her brown eyes to remain dim as to not show that light of delight in seeing a familiar face. The fact that it was T.J's wasn't such a bad thing, either. His bright eyes, blonde hair, and mischievous smile that was at the same time charming hadn't seemed to change, and she wondered in that moment just what were the odds of crossing paths with him again.
Her tensed features had easily softened, though there was a tinge of nervousness in the way she smiled back at him, and unlike the light in her eyes that nervousness was harder to keep hidden. She brought a hand to the side of her face, brushing away the pieces of hair that tickled her cheek, "I'm actually the one surprised that you remember me," she replied, raising her eyebrows at him before continuing, "I-I didn't know you went here."
No Talking in the Library | Nadine and Tegan
The library was usually the last place you’d find a guy like Tegan, perfectly styled blonde hair looking brighter than normal around the shelves of books, mostly old. In fact, if you were to go on a search for T.J., the library would be at the bottom of the list of places around campus you’d take a peek at. But even he needed books sometime, though he was smart enough to go during the hours when not many others were lingering around. Only the people that didn’t mix well with Tegan and his crowd; the nerds and shut-ins.
Much less interested in browsing for the title he had written on his hand, Tegan couldn’t help but take a gander at the girls who littered the library corners, huddled together or just on their own. Some weaving between the aisles, looking less than thrilled to be there. King had more people his speed than not, it would seem, and he wasn’t the first with the grand idea to steal away to the depth of the uncool for necessary measures. Smirking at the thought, Tegan was about to actually begin his search when something else caught his eye — this time, not just a pretty face or tight ass.
It was a memory, or maybe a twin of one. Either way, and whatever it was, Tegan knew the pretty dark girl with her pert little nose half buried in the spine of a worn book, seemingly lost to the world. That, too, wasn’t unusual. T.J. was always running into girls he’d spent a night with once upon a time, but not usually here. No, he remembered all of the King girls. Especially ones like her, that familiar stranger. Those kinds of girls were the ones he had second and third nights with, not some half memory of hair coils.
Interest piqued, Tegan abandoned his quest for the book once again, moving closer to her. He’d decided she also wasn’t from his high school, though probably had met her around those years. He couldn’t deny his attraction to her; not that he could last time, the deja vu was enough to ensure that. The blonde figured if he could place her face, he’d stand a much better chance with her. So, he crept along the aisle, watching her from the other side of a row, racking his brain as he tried to pull the tease of her up in his minds eye.
To his surprise just as much as hers, the sudden removal of the book startled them both, though Tegan didn’t let it show on his face, a smile blooming across his chiseled features. Once she’d spoken, apologizing out of context, the memory clicked into place and he held back a laugh. “Well, if it isn’t Miss Nadine Lawrence,” He greeted, as if he’d known her all along. “Fancy seeing you here. I wouldn’t figure you’d remember, huh?”

Not.. really.. Maybe to the point of wanting to switch the sugar for their coffee with salt, but not to the point of committing murder by a pillow case of candy.

You ever have that one person in your life who you love to death but if given the chance you’d club them to death with a pillow full of hard candy?

"Oh," she nodded her head slowly, a feeling of embarrassment washing over her as though it looked stupid of her to have thought otherwise. But quickly, she managed a smile before pulling her other ear bud from her ear. "You always lay out on the grass and talk yourself to sleep?"
Tumblr media
He’d been too sleepy to hear someone approach across the grass, his eyes shut he’d been on the verge of dozing that was until he heard a voice and he opened his crystal blue eyes to peer up at her in a half-confused daze. “Huh? Oh, sorry… I wasn’t talking to you. Talking to myself it happens, I’m sorry.”

The Goal.
That was the name of this stupid book that was about to be the topic of an even more stupid discussion if Nadine kept up this act of knowing what this book was even about.. hell, who knew if it was even as deep as she was falsely claiming it to be? Turning it over quickly in her hand to scan the back as he made his comment about liking deep stuff, she read over the mention of the theory of constraints.
Oh yeah, hella deep stuff.
She budged another soft smile, her eyes still on the book in hand as she replied. "Then you'd probably like this one.. I was going to check it out but," she paused mid thought, lazily shrugging her shoulder before reaching up with her hand to push the row of books between them further to the right with all intention to pass it through the space that connected them. Though, as the books were moved and her focus was re directed, the full sight of more than just his eyes made her instantly regret even having the thought of being so generous. Her smile became fleeting instead of lasting, and as she stared at him she couldn't help but feel that lump rising, no longer sitting in the middle of her throat with hesitation and nervousness----no, instead she was about ready to vomit in disgust. Preferably all over his Brazilian blow out that looked as though it held enough hair product to season a wok.
The script was flipped and--well--what almost sounded sincere to her just a few seconds ago was now sounding like mockery. Another dick guy just trying to be funny and waiting for someone to laugh. There were about five ways she could now twist that four word sentence into everything but sincere. He wasn't being sincere at all, and just as she read him those days before, she was easily reading him now.
Without another word, Nadine simply lifted the book to the shelf, and slowly slid it back in it's place, pushing out the sight of him with that one move. She rolled her eyes, turning on her feet and heading down the aisle, the book she initially came for tucked to her chest, and her other hand clenching on the strap of her bag as curls bounced angrily with each step. Though at the same time, she was forcing her features to remain soft and unmoved. Last thing she wanted was for him, or anyone else, to have the satisfaction of knowing they got under her skin. Even just a little.
No Talking in the Library | Nadine and Theo
A eyebrow was raised as he watched her. She seemed to unsure, and it was amusing. Not unsure in that whole, space cadet giggly girl way. Like she was thinking things, measuring herself or something. Okay so maybe he knew next to nothing about human behavior, but he liked to think he did, and this girl seemed like someone with some sort of hidden depth. That, in itself made him want to know more. Want to find something of substance in her. Truth was, there was very much a lack of substance in Theodore’s whole existence, and while it bothered him, he didn’t have the tools to fix it, and was unwilling to change the behaviors that added to the whole issue. He was a lost lamb, drowning in a sea of parental expectation and hair gel. Or something dramatic like that.
As he watched her shift from foot to foot, he leaned in closer. She looked familiar, but he was having some trouble placing it. It wasn’t until he heard her talk again, it all started clicking into place. Damn. She’d been the girl too busy in the dining hall to care about his presence. A frown tugged on his lips. That hadn’t gone well. There had to be a way to make a better impression though, right? He knew he was.. well, and acquired taste. He was harmless, though.. right? I mean, he wasn’t a complete jerk was he? He hoped he wasn’t. Shaking his head slightly, he let out a low sigh. “I like.. deep stuff.”
..Well done, Theo. Very redeeming.

How about you?
Okay, not cool.
It’s better than dead straight hair that you have to coax into having some volume though. What’s your major, anyway?

Don't be, its a mess to deal with! It took forever just to get it the way it is right now.. and who knows how long it'll last before becoming a ball of fuzz.. I swear I'd rather be bald but then my aunt would kill me.

and I am too--so we probably do have a course or something together.. maybe that's why I look familiar.
Okay, not cool.

Nadine moved across the nearly empty field, save for a few people here and there, and as she passed a pair of legs sprawled out on the grass, she couldn't help but notice the stranger's mouth moving. She assumed he said something to her, so she stopped near his feet, pulling one earbud out of her ear, and cutting Nick Jonas' heavenly voice short.
"Sorry, what?"

Nine hour flight? Bad life choice right there. Bloody hell. Body clock can go die. -He muttered whilst he lay on the field in the sun with his eyes shut-

As he laughed, she wondered if it would have been rude of her to just put the book back in its place, easily avoid what else might follow her apology, and quickly dart down the isle to get her other book checked out. But when he asked about the other book she had selected off the shelf, she felt that lump rise in her throat once more. She wasn't even sure what the hell she had picked up in the heat of that moment just seconds before this encounter, but she was about to play it off since ignoring his question wasn't really an option... unless she wanted to make things even more awkward.
Moving a curl and tucking it behind her ear, she shifted her weight and moved from side to side on her heels, watching his eyes disappear and reappear between the spines of the other books before answering. "Y-yeah, I've actually uh.. been looking for this book everywhere. A friend of mine," she swallowed the slight hesitation, "she recommended it. Pretty uh.. deep stuff right here." The corner of her mouth pulled into a half smile as she gave a confident nod of her head, her eyes dragging away from the ones that hadn't moved away from hers, and down to the book in her hand to read the title.
She cringed.
No Talking in the Library | Nadine and Theo
He wasn’t sure what he was looking for, really. Something, anything that would offer some sort of relief from the vapidness of it all. He was already bored of the complete shallowness of his fellow students. Of course, it never really occurred to Theodore that he was apart of the problem of utter shallowness that plagued King. As far as he was concerned, he was above it all. Better than all of that. He’d spent his summer two years back abroad and seen the other side, and now he was a changed man. A better man. Or perhaps a man who simply refused to cut his hair. Either way, in his own opinion of himself, he held himself higher than most of those around him. Though, when faced with the very thing he claimed to be, Theo often stumbled around like a buffoon. Not that he’d ever be willing to admit that. Faults were things that other people possessed, but not Theodore Alcott. Never Theodore Alcott.
Taking a random book- he hadn’t even read the title- from the shelf, Theodore had been intending to look down and flick through it. However something stopped him in his actions. Eyes. Two rather pretty eyes on the other side of the shelf. Staring right at him. Something about the strangely intimate moment with a complete stranger left an uneasy feeling in his stomach, but all the same, Theodore pushed it aside. Set on not letting the other see him rattled even in the slightest. He was big on that- not showing weakness to others. Though, he was known to threaten to inform his father of things, but Theodore considered that a strength, and not a sign of weakness at all. He saw it as himself asserting his own authority through family connections. Nepotism talked at King.
Her apology made him genuinely smile, a little laugh passing his lips. Cute, she was apologizing for something neither of them could have helped. Though, points to her, because had Theodore actually been upset, he would have expected the apology. “Oh not at all.” He waved off her apology, then nodded towards the book she had taken. “Any good?” Why not at least attempt to be interested in something someone else had to say? He was in a nice enough mood.
