i think its so funny that alumni from schools like harvard and columbia that were there during the protests in the 60s-80s are expressing support for students currently protesting against the genocide in palestine, and random zionists that were NOT at these protests in the 60s-80s have the never ending audacity to tell these alumni "well thats different, what you protested was good and what they're protesting is bad." as if protesters against the vietnam war and apartheid south africa were not also demonized, arrested, brutalized, and even killed for their activism. history only remembers them fondly after the damage has already been done.

4/22/24 - Update/Newish Post

It's been a busy week, but I no longer have a mobile hotspot I can use at the shelter, so I'm redoing the post on the pinned post.

So last week I had the county share my County of San Diego Section 8 housing application (which I've been waiting on for 17 years) with the City of Oceanside Housing Office, which is the city I currently have a three bedroom house waiting for me if I can get on their Section 8 list. So we're still waiting to hear if they'll bump me up on the Oceanside list, but yeah. That's where housing currently stands.

What I primarily need help with is bills. I have a $500 loan and a $300 loan coming out May 2nd. I have some assorted PayPal 4 in 4 payments coming out as early as the 26th that I need to cover (totaling at least $700 to get Mr paid off or through to when I'll have money). I have a few credit cards of my mom's that need to be paid or are close to being paid off, and that's at least $350.

I'm going to set the goal at $2,000 because, fingers crossed, if I can pay these last few things off I'll have money to put towards gas, food, Lena's glasses and other essentials without having to take out loans next month at all. So any help would be much appreciated!

For those who don't know, Rafah Crossing is closed. Meaning Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are technically not allowed to go into Egypt through Rafah Crossing (with exceptions, like holding a foreign passport) so in order to evacuate, Palestinians need to bribe Egyptian border security officials. The standard price used to be about $5000 - 7000 per person but some Palestinians have been told to pay $10,000 per person just to cross the border, forget other expenses like food and boarding.

For a group of people who are enduring genocide and the complete destruction of their homes that money is impossible to raise without the help of fundraising. That and the collapse of the UNRWA is the reason you're seeing so many Gofundmes nowadays. The entire aid system is gone with the exception of local aid organisations that have limited reach.

So if you see a credible fundraiser, please at the very least share it so it can reach more people. This list by @el-shab-hussein is a good place to start.

There's a promo going on until Monday that brings the rent down to $900. I qualified for a $300 loan due to my credit going up. I'm trying to get this because the case worker said if I can have a place by Tuesday 16th I can have Roman put back into my care due to his father getting a jail sentence. I really need to get a place to stay as the heat is worrying, with my asthma and diabetes, not to mention I haven't been able to eat much except dumpster food. I've also gotten attacked and can't sleep due to fear of another incident. I'm doing tarot readings while also tryna do odd jobs until I can get a permanent job, however i am disabled so my abilities are limited. @scarsofbeauty and @saturnpandora are doing art commissions on their pages. Please help an afro indigenous person get safe and housed and their family back together!
