So, I’m sure you’ve had it, that feeling that you simply cannot do anything, you’re exhausted, and looking at another darn sentence is going to make your head explode. The dreaded study burnout - I’ve been there. How do you deal with burnout you may ask? Well, you stop studying and look. after. your. self!
So, here’s a list of little self-care ideas for the exhausted students’ soul:
listen to your favourite album
Take a bath and put extra bubble bath in. Don’t have a bathtub? Have a nice long hot shower!
Re-watch your favourite episode of a TV show on Netflix - I personally prefer Brooklyn nine-nine or parks and recreation.
Call up a friend that you normally don’t get to talk to or usually just text. Ask them how they are doing and get talking, no matter what it’s about.
Re-arrange your wardrobe or dresser. Organizing helps clear the mind and makes your room feel less stressful/cluttered.
Pamper yourself with body cream and give yourself a proper manicure/pedicure.
Search for Pinterest recipes for a DIY at-home facial.
Light a candle in your room.
Write in a journal about what has been going on in your life lately.
Buy yourself flowers!
Invite someone to go get coffee with you that you normally wouldn’t.
Strip your bed of all the sheets, pillow cases, and comforters. Wash and dry them with lots of dryer sheets/softener - a cosy bed guaranteed!
Go to a museum in your city (or somewhere nearby) by yourself. Allow yourself to spend as much time at one exhibit/piece as you want.
Find a library that currently has that book you’ve always wanted to read and go pick it up.
Go for a run or hop on a treadmill/elliptical - extra fun if you listen to a playlist or podcast!
Create a new playlist of all your favourite songs and load it up onto your phone or Spotify to play when you are on a commute/hanging out at home.
Make a handmade card for someone you love. Pinterest has a ton of great ideas and they don’t cost anything!
Go through your wardrobe/dresser for old clothes that you don’t wear or use anymore. Research and find somewhere to drop off the clothes to donate.
Get a massage. These can be expensive but are worth it and a once-in-awhile treat your back and neck will thank you - these are the most likely places to store stress in the body.
Prepare yourself some comfort food. Macaroni & cheese, pizza, chocolate cake or ramen!
Write down a list of the 20 things and people you are thankful for in your life right now.
Find a cool podcast to listen to! There are heaps on the ios Podcast app and also on Spotify for my android pals!
Make yourself breakfast early one morning and enjoy it in bed.
Find an event going on in your city and attend it. Scared to go alone? Invite a friend/family member/co-worker.
Look at old photos with people you love.
Go for a hike or long walk in your area - pay close attention to the sights and smells.
Play with or pet a furry friend. Don’t own one? Try visiting a shelter or even volunteering! I can confirm, pet cuddles help.

Growing up my parents taught me that if you’re too sick to [insert responsibility here] then you’re too sick to [insert something that makes you happy here].
It took me a really long time to unlearn this. When I would get sick or have a “bad day” I would deprive myself of anything that made me happy. Watching movies, eating something I enjoyed, going for a walk, playing video games or just browsing online looking at funny cat videos. I wouldn’t let myself do these things because I was always told that if I’m too sick to go to work, or do homework, or go to school then I must be too sick to play Mortal Kombat or watch Unsolved Mysteries lol.
Whenever I wouldn’t feel good, which I later learned as an adult was due to sleep deprivation caused by my ADHD and depression (and of course the depression itself would cause me to feel like shit), my parents would tell me “if you’re not throwing up, then you’re not sick.” And when I would stay home from school (or even work in my later teen years) my parents would make sure that I didn’t have any “fun.” No TV, no movies, no games, no going outside, no arts and crafts, no books, no nothing. Just lay in bed and feel miserable.
I’m happy to say that I no longer do this to myself. Now when I’m having a bad day or I’m sick (cold, flu or whatever) I allow myself to do the things (within reason lol) that I actually love doing. If I’m not too sick to step outside for a few minutes then I’ll go for a walk. I’ll watch my favorite movies and if it’s a bad day or a cold (something that doesn’t hinder my appetite too much) I’ll eat my favorite foods. I don’t guilt trip myself anymore for having a “sick day.”
Just because you’re sick (whether physically, emotionally or mentally) doesn’t mean that you can’t do things you enjoy. You’re not any less sick because you watch TV. You’re not any less sick because you’re playing video games.
Actually you SHOULD be doing these things when you’re not feeling good because they make you feel better. The better you feel, the faster your heal.

Studyblr Intro
Tumblr media
Hello. My name is Saffi Grace and I have decided to rejoin the wonderful Studyblr community. Over the past year I have started to lose sight of my goals and stopped believing in my potential. I created this account a while back but am resposting this because I never used it due to mental health and I lost who I am. I hope the studyblr community will help me get back some of my passion for learning about the things that interest me. Icon by @cheruib
About me
I am taking a gap year
I am 19
I live in Europe
I am an INFJ
My ultimate dream is to be a clinical psychotherapist  and write a book. This is really important to me because I want to help people and at the same time, I enjoy the academic challenge that comes with learning something I enjoy.
Interests
Criminology (love Buzzfeed unsolved)
Tennis, Swimming, Dance
Volunteering
Debate
I listen to music almost constantly
Photography and Scrapbooking
Reading and writing
Poetry (Slam)
Cooking
Sewing
Puzzles
My classes
None, but I am learning Spanish.
Next year, I will take Psychology, Philosophy, Childhood Development and Law
Random facts about me
I am pretty analytical and love to communicate with others as well as interpret the things around me
I love creating new concepts and connecting things from all different areas of learning
Fall is my favourite season and I love flowers
I want to change the world for the better
One of my largest wants is to have a family, and I am looking forward to that one day. I want to be able to stay at home with my kids if I have them.
I am queer
If I don’t do college, I want to be an event planner
My favorite thing in school is critical thinking
The most important value to me is empathy
I am a perfectionist and afraid of failure (and I worry a lot)
I am trying to learn to read body language better.
I always need to be doing something and am very curious, always asking about everything
I love egg and avocado
Why a Studyblr
I have a pretty big imagination (and would rather spend my time dreaming up new concepts then studying certain subjects) and can be pretty chaotic. Which leads to me procrastinating and not being disciplined and not getting the grades I know I could be getting. I hope this studyblr will motivate me. Also, I want to improve my notetaking. I have a pretty strong will and I hope that I can apply that to school.
I struggle with  depression and I hope that this studyblr will motivate me to continue with my goals even when I feel as if nothing will work out.
Goal
Create my own content
Productivity challenge
Make friends
Learn to love what I do

2020. 07. 15 ; THURSDAY.
visited a cafe in jeju to catch up on the journal entries that i’ve .. Forgotten about. it’s six thirty in the evening and i’m currently working on a philosophy paper that’s ... due at twelve, which gives me around four hours. it’s more than enough time, if i work fast — but wish me luck anyways. papers are always difficult.
on a side note, i have the ghibli ost playing right now and i feel like i’m living in the animation.

5.20.2020
Just got all my final grades. They’re not official yet but I don’t think they are going to change. This is the best semester I’ve had so far, grade wise, which is exciting!
My internship really picked up today, still doing training but they’re a lot more interesting now. I also had the kickoff of the intern program which was fun. I think I’ll be able to use some of the strategies in the trainings in other projects I will be working on later, too.
Photos are notes from my summer review of one of my classes for next semester, and my little mint plants, which are spreading and growing quite well.
