hudscnfm:
for being brothers, hudson and nate truly had very different upbringings. hudson had always been fairly close with his parents, he could laugh and enjoy an evening with them, and he’d missed them every time he left for college. however, it was almost the polar opposite for nate — although hudson couldn’t exactly blame him, especially now. “ yeah … i guess, ” hudson said hesitantly, feeling uneasy about nate’s flippant tone. it didn’t feel like whatever to hudson, and he was sure it didn’t to nate either, but he couldn’t really expect his brother to suddenly open the flood gates now. how many other arguments between nate and their parents had hudson just shut out ? hidden in his room or left for work without a word. his jaw was clenched, but the sound of nate’s chuckle broke his stern expression and he shook his head with a small smile. “ yeah, like you can talk, nathan sinclair, ” he joked back, copying nate’s tone. the tension was thick between them, but hudson was grateful for the sliver of hope he felt at the humour in his brother’s voice. and that sliver grew at his hesitation and his staggered response. “ you don’t have to like me, ” he offered with a shrug, just as he heard the sound of a car door slamming outside, which was soon followed by an engine roaring to life. joining nate at the wind, hudson peeked through the blinds and saw their parents’ car backing out of the driveway. “ they mentioned going to some dinner at their friends’, ” hudson explained, watching the car disappear down the street. “ want to order some pizza ? ” he looked at his brother with an innocent shrug. they didn’t have to have fun, they didn’t even have to get along — hudson just couldn’t find it in himself to turn his back on nate tonight.
Nate could tell that his words regarding their parents slightly bothered his brother. He couldn’t blame him. It was almost as if they grew up with two completely different families. Nonetheless, just because it annoyed Hudson, didn’t mean Nate was going to stop anytime soon. He was only sixteen when his parents chose to suddenly ignore the fact that he was just as much their son as Hudson was. And since then, he had nothing but negative experiences with them. He always wondered why they looked at him as if he was the reason behind all wrong in the world. Why they suddenly stopped inviting him to family parties. Why they barely acknowledged his achievements anymore. Even his highly accredited academic achievement award at the end of senior year. Nothing more than a pat on the back and a short, forced smile. “Shut up,” Nate snorted soflty in amusement at the calling of his full name. Their behavior right now was beyond unfamiliar. They were laughing together. Were they actually getting along? Nate was unsure. He was still waiting on Hudson to call him out on something or make fun of him for what he reason. “Yeah....,” He murmured. The younger brother was unsure if he actually hated Hudson as much as he declared he did. But he was never going to admit that. Following the sound of the car reversing out of the driveway, Nate glanced outside the window. “Thank fuck,” He hummed. He glanced up at Hudson then. “Sure. I don’t mind. I was going to ask the same thing. But I’m not paying for it,” He pushed himself up off his desk by the window, pulling a hoodie off the end of his bed. “Do we have any beers or anything?” He asked, rolling back his shoulders as he finally felt at ease now that his parents were gone. “This has to have been the worst week in a long time. I want to get on some sort of buzz,” He declared, leading the way outside his room with his phone in hand.

“i know,” she reassured the other, “it’s just one big mess. you even told me after the last party that you wanted a relationship with him, that you wanted to try. which i even told him,” her high already getting to her head and causing some word vomit. “i told him that you wanted something and he didn’t believe me, but it’s like, why would i lie? i thought you two were gonna be together, but then rion comes with all of these stories too, just seems fake.” sofia didn’t understand any of what was happening, but if nate was going to be this sad and hurt, it wasn’t worth it. “you deserve to be in a relationship with someone that won’t drag you along…” though she knew milo was thinking the same thing about nate. at least nate had tried, at least from what sofia could see. a roar of laughter came from her, “are you serious? you honestly think i couldn’t handle you?” taking another hit before blowing it out in the direction of the window, she tried to suppress her laughter. “i don’t think that’s why we’ve never hooked up, but i’ll prepare myself.” with a shrug as he began to question her mere thought, “yeah, why not? it’d help with money and i obviously need it right now, i don’t want to live in your house forever.”
Nate frowns deeply as he listens to her. So Milo definitely knew damn well that Nate wanted him as more than a friend. “Yeah, I’ve told him several times. We’ve kissed and we’ve spent nights together, non sexually, we’ve cuddled, we’ve basically acted like a couple for a while now and nothing. I figured he’d catch on. I told him straight up that I liked him and then I find out he’s confessing his feelings for other people too?” He huffs angrily. “We got into a fight the other day because he found out I slept with two people on the camping trip but it was before him and I made up so it shouldn’t matter. We haven’t spoken since. I’m supposed to be done with him so I shouldn’t care but I miss him. Kinda,” He murmured, shrugging a little. He snorts then, shaking his head a little. “It’s not easy for me to catch proper feelings for someone like I had for him. Hence being twenty one and never once being in a relationship,” He shakes his head a little. His mood suddenly changes then, and he smiled again. “You couldn’t handle me. We both know that,” He laughs in amusement. “What are you implying? That it’ll be the other way around, huh?” He questions with a raised eyebrow. He hums then. “I guess so— but people you know will see you there. Not that it’s a bad thing. I just don’t want people to talk shit about you,”

embry raised her eyebrows at nate before giving him a slight nudge on the shoulder, “that’s rude, you’re meant to tell me you adored me in high school. thought i was the most beautiful girl you’d ever seen in that detention room, but never had the courage to tell me how your poor little adolescent heart felt.” she teased, setting down the incense she’d brought over for him before pulling another one from behind the counter, along with a lighter. “you live your life with intention.” she said, knowing her words weren’t helpful, “listen.” she let out a breath as she stuck the piece of incense into a holder and blinked up at him, “if magick was easy and without effort, everyone would do it. if you really want help from outside forces, then yes, you’ll need to put a little effort in. i mean, it’s the sacrifice you’re providing to reap your rewards. time is a hell of a lot more valuable than money, after all.” she hummed, holding the lighter out to him. “here, try on this one so that I know you’re not going to end up accidentally burning your house down.”
Nate laughed softly along with her words, nodding slowly. “Well...you’re not wrong there. Perhaps if I could’ve brought myself to actually show up most of the time, I would’ve built up the courage to speak to you,” He shrugged a little, his eyes flickering between her and all the items that scattered along the counter. He watched her actions with curious eyes, taking note of each step. “I guess so, yeah. It’s just difficult finding that motivation, you know? It may be the bare minimum but there’s always that part of you that doubts it’s going to work,” He shrugged. When she hands him the lighter, he chuckles and spins it between his fingers for a few moments. “Oh god— okay,” He murmurs, igniting the flame with the flick of his thumb as he lowers the flame as he lights the incense. “Right here?” He asks soflty.

╯ “ 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐢 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭, but it’s all due to maia’s hard work, really. i think it’s missing a pet, i just wish i had the time. ” she calls out, a genuine smile at nate’s words, even if he can’t see it. soon, she slides into the living room, some shorts peaking out from beneath her t-shirt, something that fits her more like an over-sized tent, or dress. her hands are kept over her face, specifically covering her eyes, as if there was some surprise awaiting her. “ d’you remember what i look like without eye makeup ? ” she questions with a giggle, slowly retrieving her hands to her sides; her resistance to the strong urge to glance away creates a warm flush that covers her cheeks. although initially shy, she reckons she looks much better than before, when her eyeliner and eye shadow were smudged beneath her eyes after such a grueling night. that being said, she soon tosses those feelings aside, making her way into the kitchen. “ about the movie list, i think i’ve made up my mind, but before that, are you hungry ? i could make us some ramen, or we could go straight to popcorn. it’s up to you. ” getting on her toes to reach the cupboard, she peaks inside. “ you like sweet popcorn, right ? that’s all i’ve got, something about salty popcorn just doesn’t sit right with me. ” reaching in, she takes out two bags of microwave popcorn. “ we can always salt them, though. ” she adds, now setting two glass bowls aside. resting her elbows on the counter, her face is cradled in her hands as she turns to nate. “ so, here it goes. i’m thinking we could do ‘it’, either part one or two, or jordan peele’s ‘us’, or something dumb, like ‘the nun’. — what do you think ? ”
“I think you should just go for it. I have two cats in my house and they’re honestly the best thing that’s ever happened to me. What kind of pet you are you thinking? Cat? Dog? Bunny? I’ve always wanted a bunny...,” He trailed, shrugging a little as he thought about all the times he had begged his parents as a kid for more pets. However, he was quite content with his two little girls. When she returns, his lips stretch into a soft smile towards her. He raises an eyebrow at her hands to her eyes. “I’m pretty sure I do...yeah,” He chuckles softly in amusement. “You look beautiful with or without makeup, Chai,” He makes sure to let her know. Something that Nate always insisted about Chai from the beginning and throughout of their relationship was that she was so effortlessly beautiful. He pushes himself up off the couch to follow her into the kitchen, leaning gently back against the counter. “I’m the guest. I don’t mind whatsoever. Whatever you’re in the mood for, I’ll eat. I can literally eat anything,” He assured with a soft laugh, nodding along with his words. “Sweet popcorn sounds good to me,” He tells her, his arms crossing over his chest as he turns to face her properly. “Something dumb like the nun she says,” He snorts. “Is that not supposed to be real scary? Yikes. You’re really something else,” He licks over his lips briefly. “As long as you promise to protect me, I can watch anything,”

“like, i love you, you know that, but we both know you’d crack the second someone started critiquing you. even being like, he was hot, but that third nipple, i don’t know man,” she joked, a smile beaming on her face. just like he could do with her, sofia knew she mess around and it wouldn’t make the least amount of difference. sure, maybe if she was upset it’d be a different story, but these were the moments she lived for. “woah,” slowing down as he began to spiral, placing her hand on his knee out of comfort. “hey, he’s a dumbass. i didn’t mean to make you think about it or whatever, but he’s a fucking idiot and we both know you’re better away from all of that drama.” she could really go on and on about it, the fact that he basically cornered the girl to cry and ask for advice when it was just meant to attack her was enough to write him off in her opinion. plus, the whole fucking with her friends thing. “it’s not me, shut up,” her hand pushing his knee, “but we both know if you have me too long in your bed after getting me high as fuck things’ll happen.” sure, they usually just cuddled and watched a movie before passing out, but now that he brought up the proposition and it was lodged in her brain? things would probably take a turn. “why would things get awkward after? you’re acting like i’m some gullible and shy little girl who can’t handle anything, it’s like you’ve never met me.” her jaw dropping his amazement, but also a bit of annoyance at the same time, “fuck you. you just had the chance to get me in the palm of your hand, but fuck that. and shut up, it’s safer than actually escorting or something. though, i have considered applying for the strip club,” holding up her hand before he could protest, “considered.”
nate couldn’t help but nod along with sofia’s words. she was absolutely right. he couldn’t take the heat whatsoever. “yeah....i guess so,” he agreed. “oh no- not my third nipple,” he laughed, placing is and over is chest as if is shirt wasn’t already covering them. sofia knew him more tan anyone else so he was far from offended by her words. she was right and they both knew that. he sighed softly then. “i’m not sure. i feel like i keep trying for him and i get absolutely nothing in return for it. he says he likes me and that he never led anyone on but...i don’t know. its like one thing after the other, constant drama. i couldn’t be arsed anymore,” nate explained to er, shrugging a little following is words. is and gently rested over hers on is knee. “thanks, sof,” is lips stretched into a soft smile. e nodded in agreement ten. “agreed,” he hummed. undoubtedly he was a little surprised tat they were actually planning to go ahead with this but he definitely wasn’t complaining. he rolled is eyes playfully then. “right right. whatever. i’m just warning you in advance. you don’t know for sure whether or not you could handle me,” he laughed softly. “i mean, yeah it is safer than that but still. i don’t know. i’m sorry,” he shrugged. “the strip club? as in the pink lotus? like...ten minutes from here?”

reverie-wtf:
looking around the packed pub once more, reverie sighed. definitely no sign of her brother. it seemed her and nate had settled into the routine of this now, the event occurring at least once a week. she took a swig of her own drink, at least if carson was having the time of his life getting drunk wherever he was, she figured she could do the same. “anything you wanna talk about?” she nodded at his suggestion, smirking softly. “i mean, never been there before but, first time for everything, huh?”
“why is it you get upset that your brother is here drinking when you seem to show up often and do...almost the exact same thing? i’m starting to wonder if this is just becoming an excuse for you to come down here and drink with me...,” he murmured, sipping from is new drink, sighing in relief at the keen burn to the back of is throat. he shrugged then. “nothing i can really think of,” he lied, knowing that by the end of the night he was probably going to spill on every problem going on at the moment. “exactly. thats the spirit. after this drink,” he held is glass up.

hudson stayed in the doorway, eyes on his younger brother where he sat on his bed. at nate’s first response to hudson’s presence, he felt his jaw tighten. this was a mistake — what had he expected ? a good ol’ brotherly heart - to - heart ? he could almost laugh at himself. he and nate weren’t like that, they were never like that. he was about to just shrug and leave nate on his own to pout, but his brother surprised him by speaking again. the edge in nate’s voice made hudson’s heart clench. yes, the two brothers fought like cats and dogs and hudson wanted to believe they were better off just avoiding each other, but he couldn’t find any possible reason that put their parents in the right. hudson believed in karma and he’d honestly been waiting for nate’s own karma to catch up to him, but this was far from fair. with a sigh, hudson stepped further into nate’s bedroom. “ i didn’t come in here to make fun of you, ” hudson said, hating the distance, both physical and emotional, that existed between the two brothers. “ i just — i really just wanted to see how you were. dad mentioned being tight on money but i— ” hudson raked his fingers through his hair. “ i didn’t think they’d actually do that. i wish i could’ve… ” his voice faltered. he wished he could’ve what ? stopped his dad ? talked them out of it ? hudson knew he had the reputation as the golden child, the favourite sinclair, but he also knew that once his parents had their sights set on something, there wasn’t much that could budge them. he probably couldn’t have changed their minds even if he’d tried. but suddenly, the fact that he hadn’t tried hit him like a punch to the gut. “ i’m sorry, nate. it’s bullshit and you have every right to be angry. ” he sighed and scratched the back of his head, feeling very out of place in trying to be a good older brother. “ if you want me to leave you alone, i will, ” he said to nate’s back. “ i just didn’t want you to feel like you’re alone. not right now. ”
when hudson finally spoke once again, nate’s head lifted towards him. he wasn’t? then what was he hear for? he wasn’t used to being...cared for. he craved love and some sort of affection but the idea of hudson getting all soppy with him made him feel a little tense. he was unsure how he would even react. would he get all awkward and shy? more than likely, yes. i really just wanted to see how you were. dear lord- here we go. nate’s lips parted slightly, unsure of how to respond. if it were any other time, nate probably would’ve tried to fit on the fact that hudson knew they were planning this, but instead, nate just shrugged. “its....whatever. i can’t be mad at you. there was nothing you could do to stop it. nothing either of us could of done to stop them. they’re....well them. awful people. we already knew that,” nate crossed is arms over is chest, finally turning to face the other once again. a soft chuckle escaped is lips then. “wow....hudson sinclair is actually apologizing to me? strange. haven’t heard that one in a long time,” he tilted is chin upwards. despite is anger, he was amused by hudson’s behaviour. it was so unfamiliar. and he figured it was best to at least try and find humor in the situation rather than getting all uncomfortable. after a few moments of silence, he sighed. “you don’t have to....i guess. i mean...its whatever. stay here or leave...i don’t mind. it’s up to you,” he shrugged, chewing on his bottom lip. “i mean.....i appreciate...everything you’re saying. it’s....good to hear for once. relieving to know someone agrees wit me, you know? i guess. i still don’t like you but yeah...thanks,” he cleared is throat.

embry let out a light laugh at nate’s rant on teenagers. her nose crinkled as he spoke, the grin never leaving your face. “you hated me in high school?” she mocked, resting her elbows against the counter and blinking up at him. her eyes brightened slightly when he expressed his curiosity about the stones and other peculiar things around them. “well you’ve got to open yourself up to it. the universe can only give you the things you ask for, nate. if you’re not open to receiving love, you won’t be able to, no matter how much those around you try to give it to you” she mused, walking to the wall of incense and considering each carefully before picking one up and walking back towards him, “apart from opening yourself up, you can cleanse it by burning this— remember to pay special attention to the smoke. when it begins to rise in a clean line, your stone is cleansed.” she said, holding it out to him, “oh, and during the full moon, put it somewhere the light of the moon will reach it. it’ll help charge the stone, so that it’s more effective. and a more effective stone will help you learn to open yourself up to receiving its benefits which means.. well receiving love.” she explained, leaning against the counter once more.
“I hated everyone,” Nate told her with a soft laugh, shrugging a little. Anyone who knew nate in high school knew he spent more time mitching classes or in detention rather than actually socialising with his peers. Despite this, he still believed he was far more mature than the majority of those he attended school with. He definitely seemed fascinated by her words, screaming in his head that he was open to finding love or letting the universe in or whatever all that talk was about. “And how exactly do I do that?” He questioned softly, raising an eyebrow. With how his life had been going at the moment, he was definitely willing to do what it takes to make things even slightly better. He watched her walk from the counter with curious eyes, relaxing down onto his elbows on the counter. As she explained it all, he couldn’t help but pout a little. “That seems like a lot of work...,” He chuckled, straightening his spine once again. “How do I use this thing? How do I cleanse it? Do I just light a flame under it?” He questioned, pointing to the incense.

“ they do ? well, i’m not surprised, you’ve got a way with people. dicaprio, depp, hudson, you’re all heartthrobs; it’s a compliment. ” her lips stretched into a soft smile, hushing her next few words, as if it was a secret. “ duh, i don’t think we’re supposed to, but i always do. ” chai admits, returning to her playful demeanor. “ you’re just making me want to put on It, part two. so many jump scares, i loved it. ” the chill down her spine, the anticipation of waiting to be scared knowing the jump is coming any second now, chai lived for it. unlocking the small metal gate, chai paced up the few couple of steps at the entry of her house, fiddling with the many keys until she found the right one. “ not many jump scares, recent … hm, i’ll think of three movies and then let you choose. ” with that, she unlocks the door, leaving it open for nate to come inside. like her mother always taught her, the first thing she does is leave her shoes by the door, walking in with her mismatched spotted socks. despite being small, the apartment was pristine and organized, all due to maia being the perfect roommate. it had an open floor plan, the kitchen being connected to the living room, and you could definitely spot bits and bobs belonging to each of the girls. “ make yourself at home. ” she spreads her arms with a grin, relief washing over her, soon gesturing for nate to sit on the couch. “ i’m just going to, uh, change into something else. i’m pretty sure it’s past midnight. ” slowly, her gaze falls upon her cinderella costume, lightly shaking her head both at her outfit, and her joke. “ one second. ”
“Well— I won’t be annoying and refuse to accept the compliment, even though you did just compliment my brother too. But thank you,” He laughed softly in amusement, his cheeks undoubtedly turning a slight shade of red that he quickly tried to hide by lowering his gaze. He grinned then. “You’re not allowed free popcorn? That’s not right. It’s the least they could do. Cinema popcorn is undoubtedly the best thing to walk this earth....well— not walk but you know what I mean,” He snorted then. He chuckled. “Clowns I can deal with as long as I perhaps close my eyes for the jump scares. Anything but dolls,” He shivered. “Definitely not dolls,” The male warned. He steps inside her home and copies her by removing his shoes by the door, leaving them neatly to the side. “Thanks, Chai,” He was relieved to be in her company rather than at home. “You’ve such a lovely home,” Nate added then, offering her a kind smile as he moved to the couch to sit down. He chuckled then. “Sure, okay. Take your time,” He assured kindly, relaxing back against the plush cushions.

After an eventful camping trip, word got around quickly about… well, everything. Small towns talked, and Crawford was no exception. The hubbub was just about the only thing going on in a town full of degenerates and bums, so everyone seemed to be invested in what everyone else got up to. Happily agreeing to meet Nate at the local pub, he turned around at the familiar voice, chuckling to himself. “You definitely owe me a drink.” He hummed, nodding in agreement as he smirked. “However, there are more than one ways I can remind you how much you miss bottoming.” Tanner reminded him flirtatiously, drumming his fingers along the table. “Double whiskey and coke, please. And tequila shots for making me wait for your tipsy ass.” He teased.
Nate nodded at Tanner’s words, chuckling softly as he lowered his gaze, his face almost immediately heating up. He was grateful that it was currently dark out and the other probably could’ve see his flushed features. “If you manage to play your cards right then we’ll see by the end of the night,” His lips stretched out into a wide smile, nudging Tanner’s side gently as they walked into the local pub. Before he sat down, he rolled his eyes playfully and disappeared off to the bar, ordering their drinks. Moments later, he was seated ahead of Tanner once more. “So— what’ve you been up to? Thinking about me?” He rested his chin in his hand, raising an eyebrow.

“ you’re balding ?! ” in an attempt to contain her laughter, she snorted, peaking up at his mob of hair, exaggerating a sigh of relief. “ well, luckily, it’s not that bad. i mean, what would crawford do without its favorite heartthrob ? ” chai matched his dramatics, before cracking into a grin. “ yeah, it could be fun. i can show you the ropes, if it comes down to it. sometimes you have to get creative when the equipment is older than you. ” she admits, recalling her first few weeks at work, a list of things to do, yet not really much explanation on how to do it. thank god for the internet. " no, no, oh my god, i meant people that drink milk with burgers and spaghetti, that sounds like something michael myers would do. i think if you had to be a horror guy, i’d say maybe ghostface, he’s the most likable out of them all. ” as chai’s house comes into her line of sight, her hand digs into her pants’ pockets, retrieving her keys. “ how’d you know you won’t hide behind me ? ” she raises an eyebrow at nate, the corners of her lips lifting up at his proposition. “ and yeah, of course ! have you watched any of the new horrors ? like midsommar ? we can’t get high if we watch that one, speaking from experience. or we can go with a classic, i’m always up for those. ”
he laughed softly. “well...maybe not at the moment but i will be eventually if i stay there,” he shrugged along with his words. a small crease formed between his eyebrows. “heartthrob, huh? why does everyone call me that suddenly? i thought that was hudson’s nickname, no?” he couldn’t help but roll his eyes. only days ago, everyone was praising his brother, as per usual. he nodded then. “can’t be too bad, right? do i get free popcorn?” he asked then, chuckling softly. “oh...well, you’re lucky. i was about to get real insulted there,” he sent her a playfully, stern glance. “i’ll accept ghostface,” he snorted in amusement, shaking his head a little. he thought for a moment. she was probably right. nate didn’t have the best experience watching horror movies. “well...we’ll see,” he shrugged, returning the smile. “none of the new ones, no. can’t say i’m a massive fan of horror. gore i can deal with but not jump scares. oof,”

with a groan escaping her lips, trying her hardest not to smile, “i hate your guts.” as they sat on her new bed for the next couple weeks, she made herself comfortable, leaning back against the wall. “now i know you couldn’t handle that, people giving you tips and shit. nate, you’d get so self conscious and we both know it. tell me though, before i inevitably decide to suck your dick or something, what’s your average score? besides you making boys cry,” she joked, trying her hardest not to laugh at her own joke. shit, too soon? though she had been laughing over the fact since he confided in her about it, it was never going to get old. once he opened the window, sofia opened up her makeup bag to find everything that they would need before beginning to pack a bowl. “oh shut up, you know i would fuck you,” it wasn’t like she was actually taken. “you’ve had every opportunity over the years..” informing him with a shrug. and with one swift movement, sofia was lighting the bowl and taking a hit. she handed the piece over to him before blowing out the smoke slowly in the direction of the open window. “seriously, is that why you hate my job? cause you’ve been wanting to fool around instead of me doing it online?”
“no you don’t,” nate responded simply, shaking his head in amusement. he hummed then, nodding in agreement. “you know what, you’re right. i’d probably start crying knowing me. i don’t think i’d enjoy people telling me i’m not any good,” he snorted. he pursed his lips in thought then. “my average score?” he chuckled softly. “on what?” he questioned. “i don’t make boys cry. or at least i don’t mean to. it’s not my fault they all fall for me too easily. or that they don’t know how to be honest with me. or that they don’t know what loyalty means,” he trailed, sighing softly in annoyance, rolling is eyes to himself. he smirked then. “oh so it’s basically confirmed now? we’re doing it? fun,” he grinned. “you’ve just implied it so....if anything happens, it’s on you. and by that i mean like....i don’t know. things getting awkward after,” he shrugged, his eyes on the freshly rolled joint between her fingers. “true but i liked you as my best friend and i respected you that much never to bring it up. i always thought you weren’t interested anyways,” resting his head on his hand, he snorted in amusement. “no. i don’t like you’re job because it’s not safe. i’m sorry, i’ve never watched you,”

hudson returned home from work just in time to hear the door slamming upstairs, the sudden noise causing him to jump slightly in surprise. his brow furrowed, instantly wondering just what was transpiring between nate and their parents now — until he overheard his parents’ hushed voices in the kitchen. he caught the words “ savings ” and “ repairs ” and it clicked. they did it, they really did it. hudson remembered his dad mentioning that money was growing tighter and tighter with the repairs that never seemed to cease following the storm. “ your brother has quite a bit saved up, doesn’t he ? ” he’d asked, although hudson knew he already knew the answer. hudson’s jaw clenched. sure, he had his own qualms with his brother, his most recent one still bubbling in his chest, but taking his savings ? it didn’t sit right with hudson. their parents were so insistent on nate doing something with his life, they wanted him to go to college and turn his life around, but then they go and take his only means to do so, because it wasn’t like they were offering them any help. hudson sighed and crept down the hallway to the stairs, not wanting to face his parents right now. he was going to just go to his room and lock the door behind him, but his gaze caught nate’s closed door and his lips pursed. the last time he’d come knocking on nate’s door had not gone exactly to plan, but hudson wasn’t sure how much worse it could get. famous last words, a voice whispered in his mind as he raised a fist to knock gently on his brother’s door. “ nate ? ” hudson called, opening the door a crack to peer inside. “ are you — ” his voice caught and he cleared his throat. “ everything okay ? ”
nate hadn’t expected anyone to come up to is room following the incident to check on him. he never really did. since the relationship between himself and his parents had began to deteriorate since the tender age of just sixteen, nate had found himself distanced and isolated from his entire family. particularly hudson. never once did his brother defend him against the harsh treatment from his parents. he felt betrayed by him. not that he could say much, it wasn’t as if he did much for hudson either. when the door opened slowly and hudson stepped inside, nate was admittedly a little taken back. however, he only scowled in response, shaking his head a little. “is everything okay? are you kidding me? i hope you’re kidding,” a scoff escaped his lips. nate was still slightly crouched over as he sat on the edge of his bed. he wasn’t planning on continuing but he couldn’t help it. a heavy sigh escaped his lips. “that money was supposed to be for college. and they just.... they just....,” nate stops himself following a slight change or possible crack in is voice. he knows if he continues that sentence, he’s only going to tear up and embarrass himself in front of the other. he rubs his head in frustration. “i know it wasn’t really a lot but i was getting there...,” he murmured then, lifting his gaze back towards the jar that sat on his desk. “fuck this. fuck them. i’m just glad sofia wasn’t here to witness that,” nate muttered lowly, shaking his head a little. “listen, hudson, if you’re here to make fun of me or in any was piss me off, i’m not in the mood. i’ve had a bad enough week as it is, and the last thing i need is to have you in here making it worse,” he exasperated. though sometimes nate would like to have hudson’s company under some situations, like when he was at his worst, he’d never admit it, and always figured hudson didn’t particularly care for him. so it would only make things awkward. at least, that’s what nate always figured. “close the door on the way out,” he finally stood, moving towards the window, slipping his phone from his pocket. still no text from milo since the incident. not that he was waiting around for one...

nate was sure that the whole town probably already knew about his incident with milo since they seemed to know everything fucking else. and if they didn’t, they could sense there was something wrong by the tense air that surrounded him everywhere he went. he was visibly in a bad mood by the way he had a constant frown etched on his features. “you want to buy me a drink?” nate caught up behind tanner after seeing him a few meters ahead. “or perhaps i should buy you one for you.you reminded me how much i missed bottoming. i should thank you for that,” a small smirk appeared across his lips. he chuckled to himself. his words were slightly slurred. maybe he’d enjoyed a drink or two alone already, or maybe more, before he decided to go out. “whatever you want. it’s on me, handsome,”

scfiaa:
“oh wow, seriously? you only brought me here and begged for me to be in your room so you can avoid your family?” she couldn’t help but make it even more dramatic as per usual. “wow, yeah, i’m going to go test my safety at the motel. rather deal with the creepy dude than you,” she joked, ready to grab her backpack and pretend to leave just to fuck with him. sofia couldn’t help but roll her eyes as he promised they’d be quiet, was this really how he was trying to get into her pants? in all honesty, with everything everyone was making her quesiton, sofia just wanted, or needed, to feel wanted. she just needed someone to actually give her attention, someone in person, to be there fully for her, even if only for an hour. his offer was tempting, it wasn’t like she never thought about it before, they had been practically attached at the hip since he moved there. if they actually did, would it actually make his brother realize he had to be an adult and choose her? probably not. laughter finally escaped from her lips as he passed her to go back to the bed, “i’m so glad you basically have a yelp for your sex life.” following him back to the bed, she told him honestly, “can we just get high as fuck right now and forget everything happening? whatever happens, happens?”
“yes, that’s exactly what i said, no?” nate joked with her, snorting in amusement. one thing he admired about sofia was that she knew how to take a joke, something not a lot of people knew how to do. he could push her as much as possible and she’d still laugh alongside him. “yeah right,” he scoffed, shaking his head. he wondered for a second if he’d taken it too far. if he’d made her uncomfortable by implying that they should sleep together. the last thing he wanted was to push on the matter, making it seem like he was trying to force her. yeah they could joke together, but nate wouldn’t ever joke about that kind of shit. he wondered then if she ever at least thought about it because fuck, he definitely has. he just hoped it wouldn’t make it awkward. he hummed then. “yeah, i basically do. i was thinking of making one of those surveys to send out to people after i have sex with them. one of the questions being like tips on stuff i can improve on,” he laughed softly, shrugging a little after his words. he smirked then. “i thought you’d never ask,” he leaned over to open the window wide so there would be no smell. “whatever happens, happens. gotcha,”
