in a humorous moment from today's sham hearing with hunter biden (our tax dollars are bankrolling this, folks), marjorie taylor green interrupts ranking minority member jamie raskin while he gives his opening remarks.
she says she wants to know the rules of the hearing which is like...?!@)(@*!! we've failed because she is a congressperson still, but santos is fine.
a voice chimes in: "read 'em!"
pretty sure it was AOC, though she isn't on camera.
take a listen and let me know what you think.
full playback of the hearing is here, courtesy of PBS:
happy 2024, everybody! take care of your mind and body this year, even if you don't do resolutions.
AOC did an interview with anderson cooper discussing clarence thomas.
AOC and a number of house democrats wrote a letter demanding clarence thomas recuse himself from the trump/colorado petition because his wife ginni had a key role in January 6 and was even texting with mark meadows (former chief of staff) and john eastman the day of. eastman is trump's former attorney who was indicted on charges of an illegal plot to subvert georgia's election in 2020.
essentially, SCOTUS will determine whether colorado can legally toss trump from the ballot for his role in the insurrection.
AOC discusses the israel blockade with mehdi hasan
youtube
AOC spoke with mehdi hasan about the war on Gaza. she was very clear in her perspective that the horrific war crimes and collective punishment against the Palestinians is abominable.
she also went live on IG to discuss her perspectives on what's going on and the impossibility of saying anything without being attacked.
here's what I'll say.
i've noticed that while AOC consistently votes in support of palestine and co-sponsors bills, such as the Ceasefire bill by cori bush, when she speaks out in public, she is very careful and measured in her speech. she consistently is trying to walk the line of favoring human rights and not opposing the apartheid state of israel.
i actually don't blame her for not being more vociferous as everything she says and does is picked apart under the strongest microscope in the worst faith, by leftists and right-wing people.
regardless of what AOC does and says, those who understand the long arc of oppression and colonialism understand that what is happening to the dispossessed residents of an open air prison is wrong. without a radical change and transformation, there will be more violence in the future and it will be worse. justice is inevitable, but that shouldn't be contingent upon ethnic cleansing.
amidst the horrors in Gaza, let's take a moment to give virtual cheers for a tireless, courageous, witty and badass congresswoman. her impact on congress and the body politic amongst so many around the world can't be understated. she inspires people in their 80s and pre-teens - trust me, i read the comments. she's brave, kind, and relentless in her desire to do good in the world. she's succeeding and so beloved.
