Sonny was always caring about those around her, always putting others above herself. But she was only one person, she could only do so much and she had already went above and beyond to protect everyone.
"Sonny...You can't place all that blame on yourself. I know it's hard, near impossible to ask. But you did everything you could. And I'm sure all the hunters here know that. If you want to help them more, the best thing you can do is rest and let yourself be tended to. I am sure they are just as worried about you as you are them. Once we get you and the others to the hospital I will start making rounds and helping out everyone that I can, okay? I've got your back." He gently assured her, dipping his head down long enough to place a gentle kiss on her forehead as the paramedics came in.
"We'll get all of this figured out."
sonny was trying her hardest to move, but everything was broken within her. couldn't even whip her head fast enough when she heard dean. carefully looking over at him when he was suddenly at her side. despite everything between them, she was happy he wasn't here during all of this. otherwise, something could've happened to him again and she wouldn't forgive herself.
letting out a small whimper as he helped her sit up, it almost knocked the wind out of her. everything was hurting, but her main focus were on the hunters that were injured or possibly dead. she couldn't even argue dean on calling the paramedics. everyone needed help.
his words causing her to tear up. even a few spilled down her bruised and cut up freckled cheeks, "i couldn't protect them all, dean.." her voice quiet, "i couldn't protect any of them. i failed."
Dean watched the emotions play across her face, a sympathetic pang passing through him. He could relate, though only to an extent. He wasn't close to his own parents, but he did have a good relationship with his sister. But there were others he had lost who he used to celebrate with.
"I can kinda relate...I used to celebrate with my ex and her mother quite often. It became sort of a holiday tradition, you know? That was a few years ago, but around this time of year I kinda remember it, you know? They felt like family and would get really excited about the snow." Dean murmured, quickly picking up his chipper demeanor after.
"Now that we have the tree up, hot cocoa sounds great. Maybe we could chill and watch a movie too?"
❝ oh yeah , that reminds me of - . . . ❞ a nostalgic smile quickly fades , replaced by one of mild sadness . ❝ it just - my mom used to go pretty hard on christmas. she's around and everything . . . i just don't spend the holidays with her anymore . ❞ nose scrunching , the coyote quickly attempts to shake the melancholy which has commandeered her demeanor. ❝ anyway - we got this pain in the ass tree up , what's next ? do you want some coffee or hot cocoa or anything ? ❞
