Calling all poets, storytellers and coffee lovers!

The Howling Owl is a premier faction neutral coffee shop and bar located in Pandaria and created by Alaris Sunspell and Saeil Moonblade, now run by Lianellie Quinne and Saeil Moonblade. Each month we host an event that allows our patrons to recite poems, tell stories, or even share music for the others in attendance to enjoy. These can be original works or can simply be their favorites. Real world adaptations are fine too!

Location: The Drunken Hozen, Dawn’s Blossom, Jade Forest, Pandaria

When: Friday, May 14th Doors will open at 6PM WrA server time

Drinks and snacks will be served until 6:30PM when readings will start. Then halfway through we will take a half an hour intermission. NPC staff will take over after performances have finished.  Feel free to stay and mingle as long as you like!

4. If your muse could change one thing about themself, what would it be?

Othiriel would most certainly make herself taller. Just a bit! She genuinely likes being short (better view, people pick you up and take you places, you know. The works) but if she could only just get that last quarter inch to make her really 5′1″ instead of only 5′ and a bit, that would fill her with enough smug power to keep Dalaran afloat for 10 000 years.

1. How do they move and carry themselves? Pace, rhythm, gestures, energy?  

Othiriel has two settings, basically. Normal and kooky. On the average day she carries herself with excellent posture—she moves very carefully and precisely with her chin up and her shoulders relaxed. No matter where she walks, she looks like she’s gliding through a lecture hall. Then, of course, her other mode. Whenever she gets stung by a particularly good idea or goes off on a wild tangent (either about her research or her romance novels) she becomes a monster. She practically scuttles when she moves and waves her hands about with the upmost enthusiasm. Every part of her carefully constructed veneer of professionalism falls away into frenetic, half-mad pep. She’s a whirlwind—a popular line among her students is that if her hair is a mess by the end of a meeting, she probably approves of your idea.  

This is what you see when you come to her office hours:

Othiriel is always on a path towards reckless self-destruction, unfortunately. She’s just gotten out of an endless loop of increasingly dangerous mana abuse thanks to Ophene (RIP to Ophene’s belongings that were destroyed in the explosion, whoops) and now that she’s been stabilized with Nexus Juice ™ she has a whole new problem of struggling with an inability to keep herself corporeal. The best-case scenario would be her getting all of her crazy out and like, retiring, and the worst would be her just fizzling out of existence entirely. Most likely, she’s going to be doing some serious soul-searching about her relationship with magic.

I still want to see her go on a “bust into the Astral Sea and make a fortress called The Brain Storm” arc, though.

24. How do they present themselves socially? What distinguishes their “persona” from their “true self”, and what causes that difference?

Othiriel very much puts on a face socially—she’s a genuine person, sure, but when she’s in private she’s much less overbearing. With others, she affects confidence that she doesn’t have in spades, and of course she delights in saying ridiculous things just to see how many people will believe her. If she ever gives you wine advice, she’s full of shit. Othiriel is not an exceptionally social person nor very skilled at making friends, so she just...pretends that she is. Ultimate fake-it-til-you-make-it.

The Howling Owl is hiring!

The Howling Owl is a faction neutral RP event driven guild. We host monthly RP events open to both the Horde and Alliance RP communities. We also have guilds on both Horde and Alliance side of the Wyrmrest Accord server. We’ve been around and going strong since 2018!

The Howling Owl is the name of Azeroth’s premier faction neutral coffee shop and cocktail bar. It’s a place of sanctuary both for guests and staff. A place to forget your worries. Staff is offered free lodging on the premises as well. In need of a way to start over your life? Or just need a change of pace? The Howling owl can be either of those things.

We use The Drunken Hozen in Dawn’s Blossom, Jade Forest as a backdrop. ICly the coffee shop/cocktail bar is located in neutral territory in Pandaria. Lodging and other buildings are also located on the premises and available for staff to use for free.

We host two types of events, monthly:

Poetry & Story Night:

This is a low-key, quiet event where patrons can enjoy coffee, cocktails, baked goods and other light food while listening to poetry, stories and sometimes even music performed by patrons or staff.

Club Night Owl:

A dance club is located upstairs owned by Saeil Moonblade. Come to enjoy a lively atmosphere, the finest drinks and some of the best DJs Azeroth has to offer!

-We also host various seasonal and special occasion events throughout the year, such as festivals and parties that sometimes even include opportunities to perform!

-Sometimes, we have booths at outside vendor events or are hired to cater events.

-As a guild, we hold monthly guild-only social nights for us to all relax and hang out to RP together too!

Currently, we are recruiting to our guild (Horde or Alliance) for the following positions:

-Bartenders/baristas/servers -Takes orders for refreshments at our events

-Security -Ensures safety at our events

-Other staff opportunities include: Photographer, greeter, bard, cook, ect.

What can you expect from joining The Howling Owl?

We have a diverse group of people with us who all love to roleplay and love attending, hosting and supporting RP events to help keep the WrA RP community thriving on both Horde and Alliance! 

We have no big storyline that we do as a guild and instead we serve as a vehicle to support your own character’s stories. However, we do host monthly guild only events where we simply hangout together and do casual RP.  We also often attend other guild’s RP events to support them. We chat and goof around in Discord and just generally are a laid back sort of group!

What sort of people are we looking for?

We are looking for anyone who loves faction neutral RP and don’t take themselves too seriously! We have a variety of characters with us, from gardeners to dragons and are welcoming of all types! We really just value those who are active and excited about RP and being involved in our events!  That said, we keep things laid back and aren’t militant about being at every event. We’re all adults with lives outside of this, after all!

We are LGBT+ friendly and do have a requirement of being 18+ to join!

IC interviews are required for all positions!
