I believe that is Ptarmigan Ridge in the first photo, and the rest are of Table Mountain as we circumnavigated it. The colors and textures of the bare earth felt so departed from everyday life, even though the same things are lying below all the greenery I usually see.

The sun started to peak out as we passed the fork in the trail to Ptarmigan Ridge and illuminated the smaller lakes on the western side of Table Mountain.

I hadn't been to this side of the mountain before, but Mt. Baker was still hidden behind the clouds like the last time I was up here. But the little lakes we saw were picturesque and calming.

The end of the Spray Park trail at Mount Rainier. I arrived right at sunset, so the colors were stunning on the mountain. The wildflowers were still in bloom, and, where the meadows give way to bare rocks and boulders at higher elevations, the fields of speckled color dropped off dramatically into huge valleys far below. It was another hike where the clouds cleared away right as I reached the summit.
